Experienced traveler to Hawaii speaking here...Waikiki Sunset is one of the nicer venues to stay...but I would never invite friends over if I took care of a condo property like this. Not sure when their photo was taken on the advert for it but is NOT ACCURATE! Plus, the kitchen furniture is dirty, nicked, and dangerously falling apart (no exaggeration). The microwave over the stove didn’t work. The carpet is godawful stained. I must say the floors, counters, linens, etc. were clean so their cleaning crew should get an A+ but omg the furniture... When I arrived, two of the bedroom lamps were obvious shock and fire hazards. Did no one ever notice?? The Mtc person (Renton) replaced them so a thanks for that. But this property is indicative of what’s wrong with Waikiki and in a larger sense, Hawaii...a money grab and you don’t find out until you get here. Overall surprising because Ali’i Beach Rentals used to have a good reputation...

We had a wonderful stay in this unit. The building was well-maintained and had friendly staff. The elevators worked well, and we never had to wait long for them. This unit is right next door to the elevators, but we really didn't hear much noise except in the bedroom. The other residents were quiet as well, and we didn't hear much noise coming from the hallway.We really liked the location, which is on the quieter end of Waikiki. Everything is very walk-able. We loved the views with Diamond Head to the left and the aqua ocean waters to the right. It was lovely to sit outside in the mornings while eating breakfast! The unit is well-appointed with everything you need, including a coffee maker, coffee filters, and dishes (although we personally didn't cook in the unit, just prepared simple breakfasts and lunches). There is also snorkeling gear, two beach chairs, and an umbrella in the closet in the bathroom. Three beach towels were provided and several extra bathroom towels. The bathroom appliances worked well, and we especially liked the good water pressure of the shower head. The bedroom was nice, and the bed was comfortable. The only small issue we had is that the AC vent is positioned to blow right towards the bed, and you cannot change the angle of it. We opted not to have AC on at night while we slept, and the unit didn't get warmer than 76 degrees overnight, which we found adequate. We did not use the other amenities in the building, such as the parking garage, pool, BBQs, or gym. We did use the laundry room (one is located on each floor); it requires a mobile app (you need to be able to receive texts) or $1.75 in quarters.We would definitely stay here again, and Alii Beach Rentals were very good to deal with. The check-in and check-out process was very easy.

Although this rental did have some shortcomings, Alii Rentals were very prompt in addressing the issues when I reported them. The staff was very courteous and strove to correct the issues. Also, I love the free parking and the ample size of the parking spaces. Although the ocean view was limited, we saw many beautiful sunsets and sunrises.

The positives about the condo was it's location and the kitchen, everything else needed TLC. The couch was dirty, carpet was not tacked down and curling up so you would trip walking, the floor lamp was broken and to hold it in place a bag of sand was used to secure it in place, the furniture had much wear and tear, and the shower curtain rod was rusty. I would not rent this condo again.

Check-in is easy, but you need to fill out some paperwork. However, it is good because you can park your car in front of the entrance.Parking is so easy!This can be done anywhere other than the reserved location.It's a bit narrow, so be careful if you have a large car.The room is next to the elevator so it's very convenient.but! This was one of the cleanest condo's I have stayed in. The location is perfect, meaning walking distance to the beach and downtown Waikiki. The management company is wonderful. I have stayed with this property management company in the past and both times they have provided what I needed in a timely manner. The location is on the quieter end of Waikiki. The condo is a little more worn and older than the picture reflects, due to furniture scratches (especially when cherrywood stain is used) and general wear and tear (it could use a newer color of fresh semi-gloss paint). The picture makes it look new and shiny which it is not; but I would stay again.

the room is outdated mainly the rugs and couch. there was a popcorn bag under the couch when we pulled out the bed and the rugs need a good cleaning or replaced. the building is the same way the carpet needs replaced. they was working on the building and we was out of power a couple times while we was there. the pictures do not have the rugs in them they should just be removed.

This is the second time staying at this exact property and room. The first was about 4 years ago. I would have thought the nasty carpet and sofa bed would have been upgraded or at least deep cleaned. I would highly suggest throwing out that carpet that is in the living room area. Also one of the dining chairs is broken. The sofa bed is stained and the mattress couldn't be slept on. They did have a foam cushion that was in the closet in a trash bag that could be used as an added layer of cushion for the mattress. Please do some upgrades to this unit, as it could be a 4-5 star review if these items would be replaced.

This was probably the best VRBO rental I've ever had, and they've all been pretty good. Location was fantastic, 5 minute walk to the beach and the main drag in Waikiki with all the restaurants and shopping. Check-in/out was easy and the parking spot was a blessing. Room was in great condition and had beach chairs, boogieboards and umbrellas for use. Would definitely stay here again.

This was our first experience at the Waikiki Sunset. While the building is older, the room was very well kept. It did not feel old or out of date at all. Checking in was easy and everything went very smooth. The location was extremely convenient and the neighborhood was safe. Walking to the beach, food or entertainment was way and very close by. The view was nice. Overall it was a great place to stay.

We stayed here for 3 weeks, so this was our home away from home. And so there were things that we experienced that you may or may not. Overall, would recommend the place if you are looking for accessibility and convenience at a budget price.
Pros:
Fantastic location. 3 min walk to Waikiki, 15 mins to Royal Hawaiian, Kuhio and Kapahulu Ave eats, close to diamond head, KCC farmers market etc.
Waikiki Sunset is slightly dated building, but it's safe and has good amenities
Unit has all amenities
some friendly birds that hang out on the lanai all the time
Cons:
Living room furniture could use some changing or TLC. Rugs are old could use washing
Roll out bed in the couch is very thin. A topper mattress is provided but it's cumbersome to open and close every day.
Limited closet space in the unit. For a family of 3 for 3 weeks we barely managed to put our clothes in.
Street noise because of the location - would get emergency services sirens, car mufflers and other road noise every night. Felt like we were living in a city downtown!

This apartment was fairly clean and had everything we needed for our two weeks in Waikiki. Having free parking is also definitely very helpful. The kitchen was very nice but there was no working fan. The bathroom was also nice. Overall the apartment was good.
Our only criticisms of the rental are minor and relate to the datedness of the furnishings. The lamps were wobbly and the rug in the living room was kind of grimy looking. They also could have left more than twos rolls of toilet paper.

Overall, we enjoyed the condo, short walk to everywhere and we would recommend staying here

When we arrived chairs were on top of tables. The layout picture online was much more inviting.
The couch was in the middle with the dining table behind which made the space much smaller to move around in.
With the microwave not working over the stove there was no fan when cooking.
The one large fry pan is warped and not good to cook with.
The air conditioning situation needs a note on the slider so people know the AC turns off when that door is open.
One more roll of TP would have been much appreciated.
Lighting is poor.
We did have a wonderful stay. Just a few adjustments would have made it even better.

We spent 2-1/2 weeks at this property. There were some good and some not so good. On the positive side, it is conveniently located, few blocks from the beach and Kalakaua ave, close to Kapahulu making getting out of Waikiki easy, lots of places to dine and shop near by. The unit itself was clean and comfortable. Partial view of the ocean and diamond head from the balcony was nice. On not so good, there was renovation going on in the entire building - beat up hall way, elevator, construction material everywhere, noisy and dusty. One day we lost water for the entire day. Specific to the unit itself - It is very dark. Only had couple of dim bedside lamps in the bedroom and one dim floor lamp and desk lamp in the living room area. Overhead light in the kitchen was also low light and hardly lit the place at night. Also shower/tub drain was super slow, standing water reached above our ankles. Luckily we were able to clear it ourselves using liquid plumber.Our biggest issue was/is the non-responsiveness of the property owner/manager. We reached out to them 3 times prior to our trip with questions and received ZERO response. We managed fine without getting answers or needing to talk to them but it was very disconcerting to think that if we had ran into any serious issues while we were there we would not get any help.

Excellent location to Waikiki Beach. Decent ocean view. Property starting to show wear but overall condition is pretty good. Internet & cable TV very good. Entry password system needs help as we were locked out twice but calling help number worked. Free parking was a plus. Amenities were a plus, coffee maker, toaster, rice cooker, etc. 21st floor so waiting for elevator both up and down means allowing a few extra minutes. Nice balcony with semi obstructed ocean view for relaxing.

All in all was a great unit and location. We appreciated the free and easy parking and easy entrance/exit to Waikiki - best location by far! The unit had all the ameneities we needed and then some. Plenty of beach chairs, towels, noodles, kitchen items, etc. Pictures are accurate. Nicely remodeled unit. The whole building could use a face lift - halls are old/dirty and worn but the unit was fresh and clean. Property management company was helpful and responsive when plumbing issues occurred. Appreciated the wealth of information on their customer portal. Just wish they wouldn't send so many spam emails to download their mobile app.

The pictures on line advertising the condo unit were deceiving in that they made the unit appear newer and larger than it really was. The unit was functional and clean, but it was older than expected. The management company for Alii were fine but the people who work at the building are not. My wife received a perishable gift while we were there and we were not notified that it was downstairs until 3 or 4 days after it was delivered to the building. The only way we knew it was there the mgt. co. called us. No one from downstairs notified us.

Enjoyed the rental unit for many reasons. Great location being close to everything, yet closer to the canal and the zoo so dramatically quieter than other areas. Great view of Diamond Head, as well as nice view of the ocean, could watch surfers from our deck. Size of unit was great for family of four. Well equipped, although a few items could do with replacement as were well used. Nicely decorated with recent renovation. Full sized appliances allowed for plenty of groceries to be stored and readily available for our hungry active family. Ate in the condo most meals which saved expensive restaurant costs. Also used the bbq on the pool level which was enjoyable. Overall, we were very pleased and would definitely recommend this unit.

We have spent 8 nights in May 2015 in 2106 Waikiki. Overall impression was much higher than anticipated. Freshly remodeled, clean, all appliances are in good working condition. AC works just fine. It wasn't mentioned in prospect but there is an iron and iron table available. Hotel hallways are kind of outdated and bit smelly but inside condo everything is fresh and nice. We like tiled floor (hate carpet). Parking is include and it was deal maker for us. On arrival leave the car outside and go upstairs and pick up parking pass and magnetic card. Parking pass then you put on the dash. Magnetic card you need to get in the hotel from garage. Every time you enter the garage you need push the button and take a ticket. Don't worry you don't have to pay anything. You just need it to give it to attendant when leaving the garage.There is plenty of towels don't need to bring your own. Safeway is 5 min drive. Lots of restaurants around. All restaurants we tried were very good. Go for local fish... delicious...

The apartment is in a great location, quite near to the beach, Food Pantry, public transport but not too busy right in the middle of Waikiki. We found the apartment to be very clean and comfortable for our family of four. The view was good and free parking was great because we hired a car for a week. Alii Beach Rentals was great to deal with and having an apartment was fantastic as we stayed for three weeks and had everything we needed. We will definitely stay there again.

Our rental experience was very good. We had a few issues withe the condo but these issues were looked after by management the same day. However, management has to visit the condo and do a kitchen inventory to make certain all utensils are there and useable for long term renters. ie-Large Teflon frying pan unhealthy for cooking. overall we were very happy with our stay at the Waikiki Sunset unit 2106. It was clean and neat, a nice view, and in the building we wanted. There kitchen was equipped enough to suit our needs. There is a coffee maker, with filters, and blender. There were pots and pans, but we didn't use them. There were lots of towels, including beach towels, and the bed was very comfortable, although the pull out was less so. There wasn't a dresser, which seemed odd, but there are a few drawers in the closet organizer. The pool is small, and only gets morning sun, but we are beach goers so didn't care about that. The building has a sauna, but we didn't use that.

Beautiful condo in a very convenient location. View was great. This is the quiet end of Waikiki. Close to Waikiki Beach and close to inexpensive restaurants on Kapahulu road. Parking was in the on-site garage and there was always plenty of space. Glad they they supplied beach towels and had wifi. Only suggestions are to supply dish washing sponge, large garbage bags for trash chute, and a bar of bath soap.

We enjoyed this condo very much. It had pretty much everything you could want. There were only 3 small spoons in the condo but there was only the two of us so it wasn't really an issue. The location was within two blocks from Waikiki beach and very conveniently located to a major bus route. There were plenty of beach towels and mats to use at the beach. The utensils were not very clean but I presume that was from the last renter, not the cleaning staff. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and was of great value.

Overall condo lived up to photos and description. Did not use pool area, water was cold and most of the day in shade where pool is located. But beach area is quite close so really does not matter. Having a kitchen really helps keeping down expense and nice to cook breakfast without going out every morning. Since the afternoon sun hits the condo some type of shades that would still give a partial view would be nice rather than full curtain.

Great location and view from balcony. Convenient to many activities. Well-stocked with beach towels, supplies, etc. Appreciated the included parking. Elevators could be a bit slow at times, but no big problem. Would definitely rent this unit again.

My Fiance and I stayed at this rental for a week in Sept. This property was conveniently located a 5 minute walk to beautiful Waikiki beach, I was able to see the Sunset, Kapiolani park and Diamond head from my balcony. This rental was comfortably furnished, well cleaned, the building has a computer lounge that came in handy during my stay and a small gift shop on one of the lower floors. Parking was included and anyone who visited Waikiki knows this is important to have, especially if you are staying awhile. Overall we were very happy with our stay, we recommend this rental for anyone wanting a great value on a nice property. -Aloha

A great location, very close to the beach but not right on the strip and all it's noise! Well stocked kitchen, nice air conditioning, and a good view of both the beach and Diamond Head. Very easy walk to the zoo. I would definately stay here again if returning to Waikiki. The staff even went so far as to meet us later during our trip (while we were staying on the North Beach) to return my daughter's forgotten cell phone. Well above and beyond what we expected!

We were very pleased with this rental. It was very spacious and clean. We enjoyed a number of amenities for cooking and free local and long distance calls. The location was awesome, sharing the same block with all the major hotel chains (Marriot, Hyatt). It is only a 5 minute walk from the main entertainment strip and beach. The area is the heart of the city. If your vacation is about entertainment you will love the area; if you are into quiet relaxing you will probably be disappointed. It is very busy and congested with tourists. The backyard view wasn't that great because you face the balconies of a whole bunch of other hotels. But keep in mind that this area is very densely populated and people who payed big money to stay at the fancy hotels are getting the same view. At least with this property you still get to see a strip of the ocean and the occasional group of surfers. The owners are very friendly and promptly respond to any of your questions. They kindly extended our checkout and fixed the washroom sink that was backing up within a few minutes of calling. The owners invested a lot into upgrades and the place looks nice. I would recommend they remove mesh in the bathtub drain. It collects a lot of muck that looks really gross and washes up when you turn on the taps--yuck! Replace the sockets and switches with decora plates, it will give the place a more polished look. Replace the grate by the bathtub ceiling with a plastic one, the current metal one is rusting. Lastly, think of adding mirror closet doors. It will make the place look more spacious and fancy. In essence, this property was one of the highlights of our vacation to Oahu. If we planned to re-visit Oahu, we would definitely rent this property again.

Apartment was very clean with good amenities and was furnished tastefully for a holiday scenario.Great location at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki as not so busy ...Plusses are -no room key required , free parking , free Wi-Fi (worked well) ,aircon , close to the elevators, free local calls, washer/dryer and trash room on same floor.Only negatives (very minor) some kitchen chairs need repairing (one could poss collapse) , lights not bright enough for effective night reading (suggest bring own book light)...also suggest the parking pass be laminated as it is getting very tattered....overall very satisfied and will definitely return. Mahalo
