I recently had the pleasure of staying at this stunning penthouse rental in Lahaina, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped into the unit, I was captivated by its beauty. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the panoramic view that greeted me upon arrival.
The moment I stepped onto the private balcony, I was greeted by an awe-inspiring vista of the sparkling turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean. The sight of the sun setting over the horizon was nothing short of magical. It was as if time stood still, and I found myself completely mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty that unfolded before my eyes.
The interior of the penthouse was good. The attention to detail and the tasteful decor created a Hawaiian Vibe. The living area was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with plush seating that allowed me to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the island. The kitchen was fully equipped with modern appliances, making it a joy to prepare meals while enjoying the spectacular view.
The location of this penthouse is ideal. Easy access to restaurant and shops. I also took advantage of the beach, write out side the building for a morning swim.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this beautiful condominium. The furniture was exquisite and very Hawaiian! Perfect location with a 270 degree view beyond words from the penthouse. The air conditioner worked great, the terrace was large, comfortable seating, wonderful artwork, great heated pool, nice lobby area and a fabulous new kitchen. Absolutely gorgeous, can’t wait to come back! All around 100%

Chose location for beach and walkability to Black Rock, Duke’s, etc. View obviously fantastic. Would have been nice to have some paper products/soap upon arrival. Cleaner wasn’t finished with property - brought our towels around 7, but we went to grocery store while she finished up. Lots of seating for having additional family over for dinner. Would definitely stay here again.

Wow wow wow the views from this unit could not have been better even if you stayed at a 5 star resort. You had multiple amazing window views. The unit was amazing, but could have used some renovations. It is an amazing unit in a great location and right where you would want to be. Only downside (if there was one) is it was dated and could have used a renovation in furniture. If you can look past that, definitely a must rent unit. Communications were ok, but could have been faster response times

Loved the view of the ocean and down the beach. Can’t get closer to the water than here

We enjoyed the condo even though some parts of place were outdated. There was not much room in the master bedroom closet to hang clothes. We had to call the owner then ask at the front desk for maintenance one day to fix the front door lock. We appreciated the air conditioning, the beds were comfortable and the view was fantastic.

Peter's place was on the very top floor...amazing views! He was a good host. Answered all my questions!! Thanks again Peter!

We had a wonderful time. The view is a once ina lifetime experience. We saw turtles, a shark and countless whales from the window. We also had a front row seat to over a dozen rainbows.
The kitchen was well stocked and you can’t beat the location.
The place overall is a bit dated but we knew that going into it reading reviews and picking it for the view and Hawaiian decor.

The location is wonderful!! Close to shopping and beaches. Such a tropical feel to the property. Loved the pool and hot tub. Just walk out the door and you are on the soft sand!! Loved the condo. Everything was fabulous! Wish we could have stayed longer. The beds were super comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Loved our first time in Maui❤️🎄

This property owner failed to tell us the building was under full construction. We arrived to the unit late in the evening due to flight delays. Upon arriving found a note on the door saying not to use the lanai. I asked the property owner about it and he was unkind in his message. That was only the beginning. The unit was dirty, delapatated and not fit to stay in. On top of the filth was the construction. It began at 7am. I reached out to the property owner several times and have yet to ever hear back from him. I talked to management where they told me all they could do was try to call him. I was told to file a police report. After visiting Maui pd I was shocked to learn Peter Dworans name is known there and it’s not for good reasons. We only stayed in the room for one night because we had no other choice. I have reached out to Vrbo to get help in getting our $ returned and they are absolutely zero help. I will NEVER use Vrbo again and i will be making sure others don’t use Vrbo either. I’m not sure what kind of business they are running but I’m not into that kind of business. We plan on pursuing this issue further and we will be getting our money back!!!! DO NOT RENT UNIT 1219!!!! I promise you, it will be the worst thing you’ve ever done!!!!!!!!

You wont find a better view or location. We sat on the lanai every morning looking down on the waves and the frequent turtles below. The ocean view stretches to the horizon and the sun sets into the water between Lanai and Molokai. The condo is just steps from the north end of the boardwalk where you can walk for several miles, all the way to the far end of Kaanapali beyond Whalers Village. There are many restaurants along the way, as well as access to the beach in many places.
Knowing that the Mahana is an older building, we overlooked some of the well-used elements in the condo. It was disappointing that the sliding door from the master bedroom couldn't be opened, but the owner explained in previous reviews that it takes time to get things repaired on the island. The cabinets are in rough shape, but again, this is an older building. The only thing we had a problem with was the cleanliness, particularly when there are to be extra cleaning measures during Covid. The beautiful rug was very dirty, and there were tortilla chips under the couch from previous renters. One of us picked up a towel the first evening, and we were covered in about a cup of sand. Floors and light switches were very dirty, but it was nothing we couldn't fix with a few Lysol wipes. One of the bathroom sinks had an army of ants. I also realize that the owner has to trust the cleaning crew to do their job from a distance and the only way he can know how they are doing is from renter's reviews.
We mostly used the condo for sleeping, and I must say, the beds are very comfortable. It was a good stay, and I would gladly rent again for the view and the good night's sleep.

Dope location, views are spectacular! Only complaint is, really wished bedroom lanai door opened. Other than that can’t complain.

We absolutely loved this one of a kind condo and had a wonderful trip. The location is prime and the views are spectacular. We loved the decor. It really made us feel like we were in Hawaii, and not just another boring hotel room. The condo had plenty of room for the 5 of us, it was neat and clean, stocked well, and the beds were very comfortable. It was the perfect place to be with teenagers, because they could walk to everything, there is so much nearby. We would sit on the lanai drink our coffee and watch the turtles below every morning. We even saw dolphins. We would definitely come back here!

This is an amazing property! I am convinced it is the most beautiful view on the island. It took our breath away every morning. The unit is well equipped and we had everything we needed including binoculars to look at the sea turtles that we could see from the lanai! The decor is fun and interesting. The place has a lot of charm compared to the generic condos that are out there. Also the beds were amazingly comfortable. I didn’t want to leave and definitely hope to come back someday!

Pros: view is amazing. We could see up and down the beach, lots of turtles in the reef below and beautiful sunsets. Access to the beach and beach boardwalk was super easy. A short walk to a parking lot full of food trucks. The place has beach chairs, a sand shovel and snorkeling gear for us to use.
Cons: the sliding glass door from the master bedroom was not useable which we were very bummed about, we were looking forward to having the door open at night to listen to the ocean. The living area and kitchen cupboards were cluttered. Lots of stuff to search through to get what we needed. We also gave stuff a good wash before using the first time as it was dusty or had old food stuck to it.

Great location and has all you need for a comfortable stay in Maui. We ate out all of the time but has an excellent stocked kitchen. Thank you for the coffee-was excellent. Pool was fun for the kids. Comfy beds, Hawaiian decor was great and lots of room for a family of 4.

Comfortable spacious condo in awesome location. Good space for family with two teens. Had all the comforts needed and the views are incredible. Like other older rental properties could use some updating, but that’s minor (reason for 4 star rating). Wouldn’t hesitate to rent again.

If you can look past the pubic hair all over the bathroom floors and the dead cockroaches in the bathroom and kitchen the view is awesome.

Peter's condominium has been very positively reviewed by others and I can only echo what has already been written. Picking a place to stay for me, my wife and our 5-year old daughters' first trip to Hawaii was perplexing. When we decided on Kaanapali these reviews tipped the balance for our decision. Of course you always wonder if reviews appropriately reflect what we value.
Well, our expectations were exceeded. After spending a week here I would be hard pressed to make a better decision. This condo is as advertised and the price is excellent if you are knowledgeable about the Kaanapali market.
The condo is SPACIOUS. The view is stunning. The amenities (wireless, washer/dryer, kitchen, etc.) are excellent. There are individual thermostats for each bedroom. The complex is very quiet and serene. Well done, Peter.
July 2013
We just had a wonderful 10 days vacation in this beautiful condo. It;s located literally on the beach, has huge windows on 3 neighboring walls giving you an impression that you are in a helicopter and are flying over the ocean. Absolutely marvelous and exciting. I always stay in beachfront hotels, but this one is avery best. We had 3 children ages 2-7 and 3 adults and we felt very comfortable in this large condo.
Don't expect a modern luxury designer's interior but it looks and feels very decent and updated enough.
Very secure and peaceful location ideal for families.
Highly recommend this place to families with children who are looking for a place to spend vacation in a lovely, secure and unforgettable place. 5 stars.

April 2013
The location and the view are spectacular for this 12th floor corner penthouse condo. Large and spacious, the condo spoiled us with a daily humpback whale shows that we could watch from the lanai. We enjoyed long walks each morning from Mahana to Whaler’s Village and beyond along the beach walk. We didn’t spend much time in the pool area but we enjoyed the beach in front of Mahana. The photos on the listing do the place justice.
The markets are close by if you want to use the great BBQ’s to make you own dinner. If you don’t want to cook The Gazebo and The Plantation House Restaurant are both highly recommended for breakfast (or lunch). Try Star Noodle but make a reservation. Honokowai Okazuya & Deli offer a great Mahi Mahi Lemon Caper Sautee too.

We were a family of 8 (7 adults + an infant), with half the crowd visiting Hawaii for the first time...we truly lucked out with this condo!! As pretty much all prior reviews, you can't beat the views from this condo - absolutely amazing! I don't think you can possibly get any closer to the water than the location of this building, as it's literally ON THE BEACH!! We were there during whale season, and had the pleasure of watching whales right from our living room - don't think many people can say they've done that before! It was truly a great sight! Additionally - being a big coffee fan, my personal favorite was sitting out on the lanai, sipping my cup of coffee while listening to the ocean and experiencing a perfect fresh breeze...
Besides the view, the condo is good size - all 7 of us adults had beds (and a crib for the lil guy). The basic amenities and appliances are all there and in good working condition...we made breakfast every morning for the family and there were no issues at all. Being used to and preferring a firm mattress, we thought the bed in the master was to the softer side; however definitely not a big deal...we couldn't wait to get up in the morning to the ocean waves!
Location is very good too - there's a strip mall right across the complex with a full grocery store, hair and nail salon, restaurants & several other stores. The town of Lahaina is a short drive away, as are most of the main attractions. The complex itself has a very friendly staff, along with a concierge desk that can answer any questions and help with activity planning!
Thanks for an enjoyable stay - we'll hopefully be back soon!

This corner penthouse condo has the best view from the Mahana at Kaanapali. It is also a view of one of the most beautiful locations in the world. We have stayed at the Mahana 7 times and this is the best location in the complex. There is good air conditioning in all rooms. It is clean and well maintained. The king bed in the master bedroom and the two twins in the mountain view bedroom all have comfortable pillowtop mattresses. New sheets and pillow cases for all beds are ready to be used. Only minutes after we arrived, an ample supply of new bath and hand towels and wash cloths were delivered to our unit. The kitchen is supplied with more dishes, glassware and flatware than we have ever had anywhere we have stayed. There is a large side by side refrigerator with ice and water dispensers. The range is not perfectly level, which makes frying eggs tricky. All the pots, pans and bowls necessary for cooking are in good supply. There is a hand can opener only. The living and dining furniture is nice and relatively new. We really liked its island decor because it adds to the aura of where we were. In the living room is a nice LG HDTV, I think probably a 47 incher. Reception was good but not full HD. The master bedroom has an older smaller tube type TV. There is no TV in the Mountain view bedroom. The lanai is spacious and has expensive cushioned furniture (4 chairs) and an expensive round stone topped table. There are two additional comfortable strapped chairs. Our son and daughter in law, celebrating their 10th anniversary on 2/14, stayed in a studio at the Mahana and spent a lot of their time with the three of us (including our sister in law) in our unit. There was plenty of room for all of us and our stay there was wonderful, leaving us with plenty of good-time memories.
PS Ziplining was just one of the many experiences we had on Maui. Exciting, even for us old ones!

Some people have had the nerve to write very poor reviews on this unit because it has not likley ever been renovated. This place does not deserve a poor review because it offers an exceptional view of the ocean and beach. There were only a few things that dissappointed us during our entire stay. The old washing machine destroyed some of our clothing items and the air vent above the shower was extremely dirty which left us with a bit of an uncomfortable feeling while showering. The stacking dryer was frustrating to use as it took 4 cycles to dry our clothes. If we chose to stay in this unit again, we will locate a laundromat. There is no long distance plan so it is best to arrange a plan with your cell phone carrier if you choose to stay in this unit. The kitchen cupboards are very old and do need to be stripped because the white paint is either flaking or bubbling in various spots. The dishwasher is also very old and should be replaced in the near future as it did only an average job at cleaning the dishes. There are loose floor tiles in the hallway that are need of repair. We enjoyed our stay at this unit and these various shortcomings did not take away from the beautiful views this unit had to offer. Those that have complained about the lack of decor or the dated flooring & fixtures have to be very difficult to please. A place of this size could cost a significant amount to renovate. The age of this units' tile flooring, kitchen, bathrooms....etc didn't really phase us because we loved the view so much. Also, the bed we slept on was very comfortable, and I personally liked some of the furnishings. About a block or two down the beach, north or south, there is a place to go swimming with less Coral so our kids would not get cut. Out front of this unit, the snorkling is very good but you have to be careful not to touch the coral as it is very sharp and tall in areas. We rented a location in Kihei the week earlier, and although the unit in Kihei was half as expensive, that location did not compare to this one. As the experts say: Location, Location, Location and this place certainly has it!

My family and I , really enjoy this condominium : very spacious , sparking clean , nice hawaiian furniture , all kind of pot - pans - for cooking ( we did !!! ) the AC working excellent , plenty of linens , nice lanai set ( relax with a cup of coffe watching Sunset ) , the Mahana is perfectly located , no crowd like Lahaina , easy to drive to anywere ,plenty of parking ...and you really will enjoy walking along with the beach ( is a pathway just start in the Mahana you can see Dukes restaurant - just steps- , the Westin Spa Hotel with several restaurants , Maui Kaanapali Villas - Castaway restaurant - , Royal Lahaina Resort ( is nice luau in there - along with Ocean Terrace Restaurant ) , play golf in Kaanapali Golf Course or snorkel in the Black Rock Spot , And just walking not even need a car , plus is a County Bus Service stop around 100 yard from the Mahana ...OH ! I have recently contacted Peter (Owner) for a short-term stay, after seeing the beautiful pictures & reviewing the awesome comments left by previous occupants. He was nice enough to allow me to stay on such short notice. I'm so glad that I did! The view alone from here was breathtakingly beautiful & truly amazing! & yet I got all that & more! This particular condo truly brings out the true essence of Hawaii. The furniture & decor definitely makes you feel as if you are truly in paradise. Framed photos in the hallway take you through the different aspects of the traditions celebrated here in Hawaii - the living room furniture are all in traditional Hawaii decor - wicker, aloha print couches w/ firm cushions & definitely made for comfort. Surrounded by wood/glass coffee tables, end tables, a flat-screen t.v. & complete central air conditioning for the hot, humid days..I didn't want to leave. All the comforts you could expect from home, in a unique vacation setting is what was advertised & what was offered. The bedrooms have very soft, very comfortable beds - The kitchen was fully equipped with appliances, utensils & dishes - there was a stacked washer/dryer combo in the master bedroom & the patio included a table & chairs for added relaxation. I will definitely be back & I definitely recommend this unit to everyone - THANK YOU PETER!!
July 2012
The view was, as advertised, spectacular, the air conditioning worked well and the location near Kaanapali good, however, that's where it stops. We were very disappointed in the amenities at the condo. It is very dated. The sliding glass door in the master bedroom which leads to the lanai never worked...very awful. The basics one should expect from a supposed higher end place simply were not there. You should not come to Hawaii and have to go buy napkins, paper towels, dish soap, bar soap; those should absolutely be provided. The pots and pans were horrendous; bent and cheap. The roll away bed was a joke as no one could ever sleep on it with the pitiful mattress on it. We were told there would be beach chairs and towels and there was nothing of the sort. The lanai had cheap plastic table and chairs.
Overall experience was not good. This was not worth the money we paid. Sorry I could not be more positive but I would highly NOT recommend this unit although the area was lovely.

February 2012
The view from this condo was beautiful and we enjoyed the lanai, but the interior was awful. The light in the master bath was not functioning, so I got to shower with the door open, or in the dark, and it took 3 days to fix. The sliding door to the lanai in the master bedroom was very difficult to operate (stuck). And the decor was awful. The tile changed randomly from old to new, and the interior didn't look as if it had been updated for 20 years. It was mostly clean, but not immaculate. I've stayed in other condos at the Mahana, and would recommend the complex overall. Check in and out is easy and parking is plentiful.
June 2010
Our family celebrated New Years 2010 in this oceanfront Maui Condo. The unit is spacious, decorated nicely with Hawaiian décor and has a well equipped kitchen. Both bedrooms have new mattresses that were very comfortable. A convenient washer / dryer combination is just off the master bedroom. The living room and Lanai provided plenty of room and comfortable furniture for our family of five. There is very large TV in the living room. We were very happy with how quiet and peaceful it was.
May 2010
I have stayed in Peter’s condo four times in the past five years. The last visit was from mid January to Mid March of 2010. The first time I visited Maui was for a week and knew I had to go back. After searching the Internet for countless hours for the right place I decided on the “Mahana” and found the availability for the month I wanted in this unit.
Whenever I book something with out seeing it, I am very nervous and I have had plenty of disappointments. When I opened the door and saw the view I was ecstatic. Picture yourself on the 12th floor in a corner unit with unobstructed views of the ocean and the Islands of Molokai and Lanai. The building is so close to the ocean that you have to walk right up to the floor to wall windows to see the beach. Being in a corner unit gives you the bonus of looking out at the mile of beautiful beach that leads to Black Rock and Kaanapollii Beach. Wow – I was in heaven. The master bedroom has sliding doors out to the Lanai so you can let the sound of the waves put you to sleep. If you get stuck in the second bedroom you will have to settle for the majestic view of the mountains.
This is what I love about Peter’s Condo: Spectacular views and sunset’s daily, the best whale watching in Maui (I have taken literally thousands of photos from the Lanai of whales breaching and dolphins frolicking right out in front), great reef with awesome snorkeling, paddle boarding and swimming, the sound of the ocean waves breaking onto shore 24/7. The condo is very soundproof and I cannot ever recall hearing any noise trough the walls. The furniture and bedding is very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and a washer and dryer hidden in the bedroom closet so you can pack light!
The Mahana is not a “mega hotel style complex” with lots of noise, slides in the swimming pool and where you need to fight for a lounge chair at the beach or pool. If that is what you want – look elsewhere. If you want peace, privacy, awesome views, the sound of the ocean in a location that is close to Lahina, shopping, restaurants’ and all the beauty of Maui this is the place to go. My stays have all been for at least a month and as long as two months and I have no desire to stay anywhere else. The 12th floor is the place to be for the best views and don’t be concerned about getting to the beach quickly. The elevators are fast and you are walking in the sand with in seconds of leaving the condo.
Thanks Peter for sharing your slice of heaven!
April 2010
I would like to first thank Peter for allowing us to stay in his condo. This was our first time to Maui. I really had some reservation on where to stay, because you really never know what you are getting into. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS PPOPERTY. We had six people staying with us. This location and view is the best of Maui (in my opinion). There is plenty to keep you busy. You can snorkel directly in front of the Mahana. Peter’s place has the best view that you can ask for. This might sound too good to be true, but it’s the real deal. I enjoyed every part of our vacation. I wish that we had someone put confidence in our selection and you won’t go wrong with this property. Peter we will be back. Thanks for the GREAT place to stay.Sincerely,Derrick Odle
