The living room/dining area contains a queen-size sofa sleeper, TV (with Cable), a table and four chairs, a completely remodeled fully equipped kitchen (including granite countertops and new wood/glass cabinets), a bathroom and direct access to the spacious lanai.

Located on the 4th floor of Tower II, #470 offers the perfect location to enjoy a quiet fun filled vacation while taking in the views of Kaanapali beach and the beautiful Whaler courtyard.

The condo is managed by Whalers Realty, which is located just steps away, so they can handle any emergencies or questions you may have when you are in the condo.

THE WHALER AT KAANAPALI BEACH (Please note that the Whaler charges a resort fee of approximately $20/night, payable at reception when you check in): Fronting the beautiful golden sandy beach of Kaanapali, the twin towers of the Whaler on Kaanapali Beach rest on 6.67 acres, and contain a total of 360 units. Amenities include a fitness center, two tennis courts, swimming pool, hot spa, and two barbecue areas.

Saunter through the paths over a bridged Koi pond while enjoying the sounds of the waterfall nearby. The Whaler is run as a 'condo-tel', and within the marble floored lobby, a bellman, full service front desk staff, and concierge are available to assist you. Parking is available underground between the two towers.

KAANAPALI BEACH: Kaanapali Beach is consistently rated as one of the top beaches in the world, and the Whaler is located in the center of Kaanapali’s best stretch of swim-able beach. If you wish to go snorkeling, just walk down to the beach, jump into the water and snorkel around Black Rock, one of the top snorkeling areas on the entire island - right out your back door. Black Rock is popular for snorkeling and scuba diving as the rock forms a great reef wall attracting turtles and hundreds of beautiful tropical fish.

SHOPPING, RESTAURANTS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES: Right next door to the Whalers is Whaler's Village, where you will find more than 90 stores, from sophisticated clothes to Crocs, from diamond earrings and designer bags to plenty of Hawaiian memorabilia! Whaler's Village also has some excellent restaurants, including Hula Grill (Hawaii seafood in a vintage Maui oceanfront setting; try the brownie ice cream sandwich for desert!), Leilani's (steaks, prime rib, kiawe smoked ribs, chicken, burgers, salads, sandwiches and pupus) and Maui Fish and Pasta (try the black squid ink linguini; excellent!). Whaler's Village also has a food court, a Subway, a frozen yougurt shop, and an excellent coffee shop. In addition, resort hotels within a 5 minute walk of the Whaler include a Westin, Marriott, Hyatt and Sheraton, all with excellent restaurant options on site.

Also within a 5 minute walk is the Kaanapali Golf Resort, which offers 36 holes of golf and is rich in history and tradition. Built on the playground of ancient Hawaiian royalty, the golf resort has panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the West Maui Mountains. Home of the Champions Tour Kaanapali Classic for 14 years, the Royal Kaanapali Course also hosted Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf, the Canada Cup and the LPGA Kemper Open.

AMENITIES: fully equipped kitchen, blender, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, iron/ironing board, Broadband Internet access, basic cable service, 2 TV’s, DVD, CD stereo, central air conditioning, bed linens and towels. There is a washer/dryer in the master bathroom, and washer/dryers are also available in the laundry room on the same floor of the building. Gas BBQ facilities are on the Oceanside of each tower. The Whaler provides additional amenities including pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, a fitness center, tennis courts, concierge, underground parking, koi ponds, and business center. A paved oceanfront pathway stretching the entire length of Ka'anapali Beach will take you to Black Rock, world class resorts, restaurants, and shopping.

Condo was absolutely dirty even the linens and couch cushions had what appeared to be fresh bodily fluids on them. The refrigerator was broken, one of the Lanai doors was stuck shut, the en suite bathroom had a constant running water sound in the wall, the entry closet door was off track and unable to close, both bathrooms were extremely dirty with fresh stains on the floor and the countertops, both bathroom cabinets C had water soaked damage on them and were warped and crumbling. Some of the primary bathroom shower fixtures were broken, the drain cap was missing and the door lock was also broken. The extra blankets in the closet had fresh stains as well as a horrendous smell. This is only part of the list of health and safety issues we experienced. We contacted the management about our issues and received apologies with no form of resolution or acceptable form of reimbursement. We even had to wash our own blankets the only night we stayed because housekeeping did not answer their calls to replace with fresh linens. We called VRBO to help but they refused to refund us and stopped corresponding. We booked via VRBO trusting they are vetting the properties listed on their website, but we were sadly mistaken. The room was close to $600 a night, at that rate, we should at least expect a clean room. We have now engaged our lawyers and filed a complaint with better Business Bureau. Do not trust what you see on VRBO’s website. Spend the extra money booking direct.

Needs new carpet or maybe just deep cleaned. Laundry room door would not shut which was a pain since it is inside the master bathroom. Toaster didn't work (we bought a new one and left it for others to use) the refrigerator was very old with broken shelves. It is located in the most beautiful place on earth :) It's an excellent value.

We had the best week in Maui and staying in this condo at the Whaler was a big part of the reason why. The location is perfect and the view cannot be beat. We spent hours on that gorgeous lanai. We also used the high quality grills on property, the fitness center, the pool and the hot tub. Everything was top notch and the staff was friendly and attentive. The unit itself was perfect for our family of 4. Very spacious and comfortable. The owner was very communicative and easy to work with. He was even flexible with our checkout time which was appreciated. Being steps away from the breathtaking Kaanapali beach all week was such a treat. Would 100% stay here again!!

the bathrooms both had water damage. There was a sticker in each shower that requested that the shower curtain be inside of shower to prevent water going outside of the tub, however the shower curtain was disgusting and dirty. The shower head sprayed water in directions outside of the general area it should have. Several stains on the carpet. First and last time I use VRBO

We stayed at this unit before Christmas. This unit is roomy, clean, comfortable with a great view of the ocean. We are very happy with our stay. My husband felt the mattress is a little bit sinking on his side. other than that I have no complaints. The host is very easy to communicate with.

Very nice place. They need to fix the hot water in the secondary bathroom shower, but that was the only issue we encountered, and we worked around it just fine by the 3rd person using the shower in the master…loved it!!

We enjoyed our short trip to this property (only a couple of days). Location is great, right on the beach. Only (small) issue is bedroom is right up against elevators so you will hear that at night. Turning the A/C fan on solved it at night.

We loved our stay at The Whaler resort, everything we wanted to do was almost within walking distance. I think our only complaint was our downstairs neighbors, who liked to sit on their balcony and be loud (so much so we had to close our doors on several occasions to our balcony and we could still hear them talking). Overall, a very enjoyable stay and experience.

Great location. Pool is nice and quaint. Beach steps from pool when you want to play in the waves. Property is beat up and in need of simple paint and a few furniture changes but all in all a great size, great view and easy access to parking and the Whaler's village next door. Price is a bit steep for the out dated unit but still affordable to normal peoples budgets. AC works great.

February 2022
The condo is large, with a great view, in a great location, but seriously dated furnishings, the mattress was lumpy and sagging and should have been replaced a long time ago, also the overstuffed chairs in the living area were so old and worn out that you could not sell them at a flee market. Also the shower curtain had mold growing on it and the tub drained very sl

The Whaler is great, one of the best areas on Maui. This condo is well located and has a nice view, but otherwise is in poor condition. Some things were literally being held together with packing tape. Broken doors and drawers and much deferred maintenance. Tiny TV's with ancient wifi. Make this your last choice until the owner cleans and updates.

We very much enjoyed staying at this unit at The Whaler Resort. Both the unit and the resort are well maintained. We had just two inconveniences: * The unit was out of coffee filters. We came to take them for granted (like toilet paper), so it's alarming when there is suddenly none to be found; * Kaanapali beach as well as resort's pool are not very friendly to young children. At the beach, ocean bottom drops rather quickly, while at the pool the lower depth is 5' - however it feels more like 5'4".

November 2021
We really appreciated having two bathrooms and a view of the ocean. However….the furniture was old, with nothing matching and lining on the bottom hanging down. We felt like the furniture could use some updating. The bathrooms could also use some updating. Some of the ceiling panels were missing and others had bugs in them. Also, the lights in the front bathroom were fluorescent which really makes it hard to put on make up! Overall, we had a wonderful time, but we didn’t feel like the pictures or description matched the room.

Everything was very good except the loud noise from the lawn furniture being moved around the lanai above.

August 2021
The property grounds were beautiful. Amazing sunsets, shops and restaurants within walking distance all along the beach. The condo unit is dated and needs and upgrade. Bath fixtures are old and rusty, siding glass door to lanai is rusty so it’s hard to open, lighting fixtures look like it’s from the 70’s. But I feel that the building itself is old. You can hear the neighbors upstairs when they run their shower or do laundry. The refrigerator is also old and rusty. It’s a very spacious unit though. King size bed was very comfy as well as the pull out sofa bed. Bedding and pillows were clean. Would we stay in this unit again? Not sure for the price. But we would consider The Whaler at Kaanapali but maybe a more upgraded room.

July 2021
If you’re on a budget- this place is great. Location is perfect with nice views. Having read some of the other reviews, I was a-little concerned— but there was brand new carpet, new couch & a new sofa mattress, so that was an unexpected surprise. One thing to note- check-out time is 11:00, not “before 12:00” as per VRBO.

Just stayed in this unit last week. Very convenient location. The condo is as described and I love how convenient it is to have two bathrooms. This is a very comfortable condo. Very responsive owner and he was easy to work with.

Great condo with very comfortable bedroom and large living room. Nearby shops and restaurants and a spectacular view. 2 full bathrooms were great to have also! Clean and comfortable ... we'll be back!

This condo is in a great location, on a great beach, close to Whalers village shops and cruise locations. Lanai has a good water view. Facility is well run and updated. The master bed is very comfortable, a big consideration for me. They even have a memory foam topper for the sleeper couch. Roomy, well stocked. Washer /dryer in unit for convenience. Furniture in good condition. Owners, responsive. On site management for peace of mind. Beach towels provided by resort. Would definitely stay in this unit again. Only improvement suggestion- more study umbrellas for renter use. We ended up buying a big sport umbrella and leaving in it in the unit, as the cheap ones will not hold up to the wind on the beach.

June 2014
This is our 2nd year at this condo and it was even better than last year for us because we were more familiar with the resort and the area. This condo is so comfortable and so close to everything. It's only about 30 minutes from the airport and the drive is beautiful. Short drives to Lahaina, Napili, Kapalua Bay for great snorkeling, and Duke's(a great restaurant at the Honua Kai Resort. The boardwalk runs from Blackrock all the way past the Hyatt where the waverunners are. Walk to Whaler's Village, Hula Grill, or Leilani's. The beach right at the Whaler is great. We left two boogie boards for future guests. The lanai is huge and great for eating, relaxing, and watching the spectacular sunsets. Great ocean and garden/coi pond views. Underground parking garage is well worth the fee because it is secure and cool. We had a wonderful vacation!

July 2013
We stayed at this condo for 10 days and had a great vacation. The condo was just as pictured in the listing and was clean, well stocked, huge lanai with views of Blackrock, ocean, Molokai, and sunsets, huge coi pond/garden, and walking distance to Whalers Village, Blackrock, and nearby resorts. The location made for easy drives to nearby beaches like Napili, Kapalua, and others although the beach (and pool) right at the condo was very nice. The condo has a great underground parking lot which is safe, cool, and well worth the $12 per day. We (and previous renters) left behind boogie boards, umbrellas, sunscreen, and some kitchen items. The condo had paper towel, toilet paper, towels, vacuum, iron and board, good wifi. This condo was just 10 steps dosn the hall from the washer/dryer and elevator. Make sure you have quarters for the washer and dryer. For us, this was the perfect condo and the perfect location.

We are a family of 4 with 7 and 9 year old kids. The whaler was perfect for us, it is right in the middle of Kaanapali beach and only a couple minute walk up the beach to black rock for snorkelling or for calmer waters out of the crashing surf, although our kids preferred to play in the surf right out front. Saw sea turtles every day at black rock. The whaler village shops are right next door with great restaurants and stores. We cooked local fish on the BBQ's by the beach every night. Unit 470 was exactly as described. It was perfect for our family. Boogie boards, pails and shovels and even beach coolers. Laundry was perfect for an extended stay. Kitchen and bathrooms are newer with nice finishings. It is not the closest unit to the water but still has a great view of the water to the north in the mornings and you can hear the ocean. It is absolutely peaceful and quiet in the mornings. The master bedroom was great, mattress and bed were very comfortable. The queen pullout in the family room was perfect for the kids, probably a little tough for 2 adults. These 1 bed 2 bath units are very big. We left the pullout sofa open the whole time and had lots of room to sit, and eat. The pool is nice as well but we hardly used it since the beach was so great and it was a short 10 minute drive to the surfing spots in Lahaina. Kaanapali beach is definitely the place to stay in west Maui and the whaler is the best location on the beach. Further south by the hyatt and marriott the beach has a lot of coral, not great for swimming. Why pay for on site bars and restaurants at the Sheraton or Hyatt. All the same amenities are right next door at the whaler and you get the best location. Will definitely return.

Our family had the best vacation staying #470. We brought too much. This condo had ice chests, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc for us to use. The place was very clean and had a great location on the beach and OF the beach. Thank you for one of our best vacations ever. It was a dream.

September 2011
Thank you for the wonderful stay at your condo. The condo has a great location, right on the beach, right next to Whaler's Village with all the shops and rest. The condo was everything we could ask for plus a lot more. The condo is very big with a spectactular ocean view along with the famous black rock. We will be back for sure!

April 2011
We had such a fantastic time, we can't wait to come back! The unit was great - very comfortable and clean - exactly as advertised. The owner was very helpful and always responded right away to email. Eating dinner and looking out the window was one of my favourite parts of the day (second only to waking up early and going to have my coffee down on the beach - so quiet and peaceful). We cooked a lot of nice dinners in the unit and had everything we needed right there. The Whaler property is beautiful and, in my opinion, is the best spot on Ka'anapali Beach! A very peaceful place. We spent many days laying out and enjoying the beautiful view of Black Rock, Molokai and Lanai. The staff at the Whaler were fantastic and very helpful. We definitely recommend renting a car for your stay - we are beach people but found the car useful and we saw parts of the island we may not have otherwise. For an extra special treat, don't miss out on Mama's Fish House - worth the drive to Paia for sure. The luau at the Sheraton was beautiful and food was excellent, the Ka'anapali zip lines above Lahaina were super fun and our local guides were very knowledgeable and HILARIOUS, Fleming Beach was great, snorkelling at Honolua Bay was great, the blow-hole was awesome....so much to see! We will definitely be back to Maui, Ka'anapali, the Whaler and this unit someday (hopefully soon!). Mahalo Maui - until we meet again....

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
