Welina mai kakou! E kipa mai ia makou e 'ike i ka nani o Pa'ia..
Greetings to us all. Visit us to witness the beauty of Pa'ia...

Welcome to Hale Nihi Bed & Breakfast. We are located on Maui’s North Shore, on Baldwin Avenue in Historic Paia Town. Staying here at Hale Nihi B&B, you will enjoy the convenience of being within walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes, with access to post office, bank services, and yoga studios, while also having the opportunity to visit sites such as the Great Paia Peace Stupa (recently visited by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in April 2007) and the world-renowned surf spot, Ho’okipa Beach Park, along with some of Maui’s most beautiful sandy beaches.

Maui’s North Shore offers something for everyone! Whether you are seeking the steady warm trade winds for windsurfing and kite surfing, the consistent ocean swells generated by storms far to the North of the Hawaiian Islands, relaxed times soaking up the warm sun on a quiet beach with calm waters or simply driving around exploring the many diverse micro climates ranging from tropical lush rain forests with natural waterfalls to the cool moon-like landscape found at the summit of Haleakala, Hale Nihi B&B offers a convenient central location as your base.

Paia has a rich history as a former sugar plantation town. Evidence of its history can still be seen today, as remnants of the Old Paia Sugar Mill still stands in the distance and sugar cane is still being grown in clear view. Staying at Hale Nihi offers you a glimpse into Paia’s history with vast and expansive views of green fields as far as the eye can see with the jagged ridges and peaks of the West Maui Mountains as its backdrop.

Chose either the 'Sunrise' or 'Sunset' unit located in the heart of Paia Town. Located within walking distance to Paia Town, Hookipa Beach, Paia Bay, Shops, Restaurants, Bars, Mana Foods, Post Office, Beauty salons, Yoga, and the unique people of Paia!! Each unit is completely furnished with Queen bed, complete cooking facilities, FREE Wi-Fi, access to 24-hour movies, on site laundry, on site parking, relaxing private lanai's, fenced yard with picnic & BBQ area.

Everything was absolutely fabulous. The only concern is the location being so near one of the town’s busiest streets 😗

We stayed here three nights at the end of our trip to Maui. What a darling place! Wish we would have made time to sit outside on the patio, even though it rained, we would have been dry! Fully stocked kitchen would be great for all of your needs. Super close to Paia—we walked there every day for food or shopping and even got a tattoo. Haha If you want to do the Road to Hana, this is the place to stay. We also went to Haleakala National Park the day we were to move into this unit from our stay on the other side of the island. Totally doable. And amazing!!!! We ate at Paia Bay Coffee and Bar—great food and drinks. And a few other places nearby. Our host shared great places to see sea turtles nearby and we loved visiting them. Book this place on your trip!

Stayed in the Sunset part of this property and it was excellent! It was clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was a well-equipped and the local market (Mana) is fantastic. The outdoor space is large and comfortable - perfect for Hawaii. Short walk into town and east to get to beaches and everything else. Can’t say enough good things - we will be back!

July 2023
The property is just as advertised. It is well located and we began each day with a walk to Baldwin and Baby Beach to see the turtles. Then we’d stop in town for breakfast and come ‘home’ and get ready for the day’s adventures. The beds are comfortable and the outside area is perfect. Thank you For your thoughtfulness in providing the details (beach chairs, coffee, etc.). We’ll be back

My best friend and I came to Hawaii for my birthday. We love Paia but have never stayed there. Hale Nihi is great! Everything was just like it was described. Short walk to the shops, grocery and food. We will definitely be back!

The apartment is nice, spacious, well equipped, and has a lovely terrace and garden. It is in walking distance to the charming village of Paia where there are nice shops and restaurants. However, the a/c is very noisy and kept us awake at night. Tried without the a/c, but the ceiling fan over the bed was non functional and you could hear the people upstairs.

This bed and breakfast has a lot going for it. Full kitchen, two comfortable beds, very nice bathroom. multiple windows, and best of all a nice little patio with a well manicured yard. One more thing. It is called a bed and breakfast but you have to go shopping and make your own breakfast. There is no “breakfast” included……

My husband and I loved our stay; the location was prime for day trips for Road to Hana and Haleakala. It is within walking distance to a lot of shops and eateries on Baldwin and Hana highway, and even a small beach nearby. The space was clean and the kitchen was well equipped for when we wanted to cook an easy meal at home. Avis was communicative and made sure our stay was comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Maui!

Beautiful large studio with super comfortable bed and everything provided. Loved the outdoor patio and yard with bamboo fencing. It was so peaceful and well kept.

Our family of 4 stayed here in late July, perfect location to walk around Paia, Avis was super helpful and nice. Will definitely stay here again.

Lovely cottage, very clean and comfy with everything you need. Unfortunately it’s on a busy street with lots of traffic noise and people walking by, other than that it’s a great stay.

Great location right off of Baldwin and a walk into town. Perfect place to go upcountry and start our road to Hana journey! Paia is also a small lovely town with great beaches. The place was perfect for us, clean, and a great spot on general!

The Puako neighborhood is nice and quiet and a great place to relax for a few days. We loved the accommodation, very unique with an Asian bamboo style. The units were very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable and Roth, the host was super helpful. There are plenty of beautiful beaches nearby and activities in the upcountry are not far. We only had a few days but I wish we could have stayed for a week. I hope to come back again!

The unit has everything one could need and an unexpectedly good sized front garden. The unit is spacious, clean with a very comfortable bed, pleasant decor and good parking. The owner is accessible but I never needed to contact him while I was there because everything was perfect. Thank you.

Great location to launch your Road to Hana or Haleakala Sunrise your! Central Paia, walk to some great restaurants and window-shopping, enjoy takeout dinner from The Fishmarket on your private lanai within your own tropical garden! Avis was very responsive to all inquiries. She came by and we got to meet her. Will be back!

Great location in Paia- close to restaurants and shops and most importantly a short walk to the beach. Avis helped with any requests or needs and supported the stay. Nice to have a place to call home while on vacation and good to be able to cook a few meals in too. Good outside space to spend time too.

Easy walk into town, food, shopping, and the beach. And in heavy traffic times (which were constant over holidays) you can take the access road from Hana Hwy/Kahalui instead of having to sit forever--very nice.

It was our first night in Hawaii and staying in Paia was a great experience off the beaten resort path. The price of the condo was very reasonable and it was very clean and comfortable. The bed was only a queen, and I would prefer a King, but it was comfortable none the less. Plenty of beach towels were available and there was a convenience store right across the street. Close to the airport... the location couldn't be better. Will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to get back to Maui!

The unit is located in easy walking distance to the busy and lively small town of Pai'a, where you can find some of best eating places and grocery markets for organic and cooked foods, should you choose not to eat at the restaurants. Upon arrival we were delivered fresh bananas, muffins and a very sweet Maui Gold pineapple. The owner and host, Avis, was most helpful to all of our questions ranging from how to set up the television channels to where the locals shopped for the best mochi!

if you want to enjoy tranquility and relax on a lanai surrounded by palm and mango trees, while having only steps to walk to downtown Paia, then this is certainly the spot. The spacious apartment has everything the heart desires. For those who are not into going out to dinner to the numerous spots within 5 minute walking distance, there is a fully equipped kitchen. The apartment has internet, TV, nice bathrooms, BBQ... can't even name everything that was available. There is laundry on site as well... too much to name. This was my second time here and I am so impressed with how much care and though has been given to the place. It's truly a gem!

We had an amazing time here. The location is prime for Paia lovers. The space is nicely appointed with an eye for detail and has everything one needs. Space is ample and the lanai is beautiful and private. A full kitchen would allow for making your own feast, but you can also just walk down the street to Hana Ranch Provisions for a farm to table meal. The owner was most helpful and is the type of spirit that makes the island. We are so thankful!

I stayed in the sunrise room and it was an excellent value. The room was very clean, had an AC unit and a great sitting area out front. Within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants in beautiful Paia and just a couple minutes drive to a beach. Went above and beyond with all Accomodations. Full kitchen, beach towels, bathroom things etc.

We were actually quite surprised when we arrived to find that everything in Pa'ia really was within walking distance. The Hale Nihi was very nice, very quiet, and the off street parking was covered. Our rental was roomy, with a wonderful bed that we always got a good nights sleep on. Everything that we could have remotely expected was provided, particularly in the kitchen which allowed us to be able to fix meals at "home" if we wanted. Avis must be really good at picking guests because our neighbors were quite nice and quiet. The only Part of our rental that had a downside was the fact that the accommodations shown on the owner's website, which is still there today, shows a much different and brighter unit than the one we stayed in. Please don't misunderstand, we loved our time at Hale Nihi very much. It's just that we really expected to be in the unit that looked so bright and cheery on the website. On the plus, plus side Avis was absolutely wonderful in just visiting with us, telling us about places we didn't know anything about. Ethan and Janet Allen

I stayed in the Sunrise room, which was a lovely room. Since I have a disability the door to the room was next to the parking space in the garage, which made it much more convenient than walking down the path to the Sunset room. There was a 6 inch step up to get into a small bathroom so people using a wheelchair will need to take this into consideration. Since I walk with crutches, it wasn't a problem. Also, there is only a microwave, no stove in this room. Paia is a fun and lively town. It was great to be so close. Avis is a sweetheart and was very happy to do whatever I needed to make my stay more comfortable. I would stay here again.

This is a great little spot to stay in Maui. The B&B is located in Paia, within walking distance to the center of town and the beach. Paia is a super fun little town with great shops, restaurants, and a few little bars. We stayed in the Sunrise room and were completely happy with the accommodations. It was clean and comfortable! There were extra blankets, pillows and towels in the closet. There is also a full size fridge, toaster oven, and microwave. So walk down to Mana Foods and pick up some goodies to cook and enjoy. There is also an AC unit which was marvelous! We live in Oahu and our home does not have AC so it was amazing to sleep with the air conditioner running! Paia was the perfect place to stay for us and was central to all the things we wanted to do, The Road to Hana, Haleakala, Makawao, etc. If we return to Maui I would 100% stay at Hale Nihi B&B again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

My husband and two boys stayed in the sunrise unit for 3 nights. Our experience was great! Avis is very hands on and answers any questions you may have. We were able to check in early and she left the air on so we could come into a cool room. There was a basket of goodies in the fridge for us and the room was very clean. Great advantages is a closet full of linens, towels, water purifier, and there is a washer and dryer available outside the unit. We were able to meet Avis the last day and she was the sweetest thing! We will definitely stay here again:)

We have stayed in Paia several times and this is truly an awesome place. It's very close to town and the beautiful beaches. Avis, the owner was very easy to deal with and extremely nice and helpful. We stayed in the sunset unit and It was super clean and a great size. Having a full kitchen is great and it was well stocked. It also has a nice large flatscreen TV. We used the grill many times and ate on the patio. The AC worked great, and is tough to find in Paia. We stayed here 10 days and would definitely recommend this unit.

Owner cares a lot about the unit - was clean, comfortable, and enjoyed the basket of fruit and bars. The half of Papaya she brought down on the last day was a nice bonus. Would absolutely stay there again. Really enjoyed being able to walk down to places while being off the higher traffic road. Great stay - only wish was there longer.

This a a great spot! Paia is a fun town and we very much enjoyed our stay. Avis is a great hostess and her rental unit is in an awesome location just waking distance from town and the beaches. Avis provided us with a cooler and boogie boards for the beach. I highly recommend this place - it has cable, internet and AC that all work very well! Thanks Avis for making our stay a good one:)

My Wife and I spent a couple nights here as part of our honeymoon. The Manager of the unit happened to be there when we arrive and she was very friendly and gave us great advice on things to do. The location was great to explore the cool town of Paia and walking distance to everything we needed. definitely would recommend for those wanting to escape the resort scene and wanting to see real Hawaii. Awesome launching point for doing the Road to Hana. Thanks!

My bf and I stayed in the Sunset studio and were really impressed with the cleanliness and amenities. Upon arriving we received a basket of croissants and local fruit, coffee/tea, etc. We loved that the unit had windows all the way around and we didn't have much noise problems leaving them opened at night for the breeze. Although we are used to street noise from living in a city. Location was great! 10 min walking to Paia Bay Beach and Baldwin Beach. The town of Paia was really cute and the restaurants were not bad either. Definitely stop by Ono Gelato and Tobi's Shaved Ice! There's a great grocery store Mana Foods which is 5 min walking distance. We got breakfast food here to make in the unit, which has a fully functional kitchen! Avis was also great host. We asked if we could borrow some boogie boards and beach chairs and she readily supplied them. All in all, we would definitely recommend Hale Nihi to anyone looking for a low key vacation in Maui.

Staying at the Hale Nihi was a good experience. It is a short walk right into Paia Town and close to the road to Hana. They were very accommodating to our late arrival. There was a nice basket full of breakfast goodies on the table for the morning. I would say the only drawback of this place is that it is a little noisy but that's to be expected when you are staying so close to town.

Hale Nihi is a very beautiful Studio. We spent 3 nights at the "Sunset" Studio and enjoyed the time! Its about 10 min to the beach by walking. The Mana Food Store is about 5 min - very good variety of organic/vegan/veggie food. Paia is a small, but awesome town. 10 min from Airport to Paia town (Attention: the local busses don´t carry your suitcases! Use taxi (about 23 USD)). The Studios are very clean, modern, full kitchen inkluding some bread, salt, pepper, ketchup, fruits....etc. Its wonderfull to have breakfast outside on the terrace with its garden. towels and linen are provided. And Avis, the owner, is a wonderful, very helpfully woman! Thanks!!!

We were staying a few nights in Sunset room. It's L shaped studio with full bath and kitchen. The owner Avis is friendly and helpful. All prior communication and transactions went smoothly. Don't be fool by B&B - there is no meals provided, except the complementary fruit basket on arrival, which was nice. Boogie boards and coolers are available upon request too. The huge drawback is a location of the unit - it faces the busy Baldwin Ave with a heavy traffic day and night. There is no air condition in the room, thus you'll have to keep the windows open and it's terrible loud outside all night long. The ear plugs is a must for this room! TV doesn't have any cable channels, only Youtube and Netflix over WiFi, but connection is too slow and streaming video stops every 10-15 secs, makes it impossible to watch. Don't bother with TV. Parking is on grass and is a bit tight. Overall it wasn't a bad experience, but we won't stay here again due to noise. It would be great if the owner can install an air condition, so people would able to keep windows closed at night.

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
