Aloha. After the devastating Lahaina fire, and with deep respect to the families and businesses that were affected, west Maui is welcoming guests back. By staying here and patronizing local businesses, you will be putting locals back to work and providing an important source of tax revenue for the state of Hawaii and the county of Maui. Your host Clever Trevor stayed in this unit several times in late 2023 and 2024 and made it a point to dine out and tip well. Clever Trevor was thanked for providing that vital economic support. In May of 2024 Maui's Mayor proposed phasing out certain vacation rentals in apartment zones beginning in July 2025 to hopefully covert some of those properties to long term rentals - if it happens it WILL NOT affect this unit at Honua Kai which is zoned Hotel. This is KONEA 142, the KING of the GROUND FLOOR 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo-tel luxury homes at the Honua Kai Resort & Spa on Ka'anapali Beach Maui. Aloha. I am Clever Trevor Alt and I proudly own and manage this property.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! This private oasis is located on the GROUND FLOOR of the private NORTH side of Honua Kai - you don't face other units. KONEA 142 is the ONLY northwest facing ground floor 2 bedroom 2 bath condominium home on the north side of the Konea building. This is the quietest and most private part of Honua Kai - but it has the EASIEST ACCESS to all resort amenities. You can come and go securely from the back door facing the yard or the front door to the hallway.

VIDEO TOURS: See the 2014 video tour of my unit and the nearby pool, and the 2018 Matterport tour of the unit. After the video was made the living room TV was upgraded to a 65 inch 4k Samsung hung on the wall. In early 2023 more upgrades were made (see pictures):

Due to our unique location on the north end of the resort, you'll enjoy ultimate privacy and a secure back door entrance that is all yours. Our front door is very close to the door to the interior courtyard. Our GROUND FLOOR location is so CONVENIENT for hanging out at the pools or beach to pop into your own condominium to use the bathroom, freshen your drinks, have a snack, or grab the provided beach chairs, cooler, life jacket for your child, etc! Our guests prefer the PRIVACY of our "exterior" northwest facing lanai over the condos across the hall from us - their lanais face the interior courtyard which gives other condos across the courtyard a view into their units.

I highly recommend considering purchasing a trip cancellation insurance policy and consider adding a cancel for any reason rider. See squaremouth dot com. Surprisingly affordable.

If you're renting a vehicle (which I recommend), I have an acquaintance who privately rents a fleet of late model Honda Pilots and convertible Jeep Commanders for less than you'd pay one of the vendors at the airport and they deliver so you don't wait around. Room was exactly as pictures showed. Trevor had excellent communication from beginning to end and gave us winderdul recommendations while we were there. The unit was easily accessible to the pools, beach and parking. The unit has a closet with chairs, snorkels, bogie boards etc. Only two down falls If you have a car, the unit is close to the parking garage but to get to the parking garage, you have to drive through the entire poperty. There is a gate closer but it was not available to use. The resort has a lazy river which is not lazy, which means it does not move..floaties are to buy only. Wish I knew. This two down falls have nothing to do with this units owner just a fyi for guests.

My husband and I and our two adult kids had a wonderful week here. We loved the ground floor entry and spacious lanai. Everything was as described. Trevor and Monty were very responsive to questions and ensured that we had no concerns that were not addressed. We loved our stay at the Honua Kai! The condo was absolutely perfect for our family of 4. Spacious, clean and well equipped. It was awesome to have a few boogie boards, beach chairs and cooler available to us. We were really happy with everything and didn’t need any assistance but Monty was attentive and available if we did. The resort is beautiful and everything was easily accessible. We also enjoyed having Duke’s on the property and took full advantage of their poolside drinks & snacks. We were so sad to leave but will be back ASAP!

We absolutely loved every minute of our stay in this Maui property. The rental is spacious and had everything we needed to make our stay a wonderful one (kitchenware, bedding, patio furniture, beach gear, cooler, beach towels, etc). The unit is steps from all of the resorts many amenities and an easy, convenient quick walk to the beautiful beach we came here for! We stayed here in June 2022. The property property was just as described. Spacious, clean and stocked will all that we needed for our 8 night stay. The property manager, Monty, was welcoming and easy to contact for any questions we had. Trevor, gave us all kinds of recommendations before we arrived. My husband and I appreciate them both. The resort was beautiful. Easy access to the beach, about a 3min walk from our room. The towel system was so easy. The only challenge we had was with parking. The resort has underground parking with some limitations. But there is parking above ground. You’ll just have walk a little bit back to the room. Overall we would definitely recommend this place to families.

This beautiful condo is in the perfect location at the resort. It is fully equipped and has everything you would need for a truly enjoyable stay. It has very close sandy beach access and is next to several excellent swimming pool choices. Indoor parking included, and again, very close to shopping and restaurants. The communication with the owner was excellent and always responsive for any question we ever had. This property is a real gem, and I gladly recommend it for anyone looking for a week or more for a relaxing family vacation in Maui.

We really enjoyed our two week stay in Trevor’s two bedroom condo from November 1st to 16th. It was great for a mixed family: two grandparents plus two grandkids with their parents. The beach and pools were big hits, and we spent several days just playing in water and not leaving the property. We happily used the barbecues several times but didn’t actually cook in the unit. This was a vacation, after all. Our grands, five and three, enjoyed Slappy Cakes in the shopping center near Times Market. The grandparents walked over to Java Jazz several times for coffee drinks. And we brought home pizza from Pizza Paradiso a few times. The condo location is very good, with the market and food options within easy walking distance. We ordered fish tacos to take out a few times, from Duke’s. They were delicious! We also went there for breakfast a couple of days, and dinner once. They were booked for dinner through the end of November, so we couldn’t plan ahead, but if you call they’ll put you on the list, and call back when they have a table. It worked very well! Other activities were: spending an afternoon at the Maui Ocean Center (great aquarium!), driving to the summit of Haleakala on a gorgeous clear day, walking up the stairs to see the Iao Needle, and playing in the stream below the bridge. We tried out the boogie boards at DT Fleming beach, our five year old and her mom took surfing lessons at Ka’anapali beach, and we shopped for treasures in Lahaina after our traditional visit to Cheeseburgers in Paradise. The mynah birds at dusk in the big Banyan Tree were amazing, the little black baby chicks were a close second, and the ice cream and Dole Whip at Lappert’s were satisfyingly the same as always. Trevor was very easy to work with, and answered any communication promptly. Monty was attentive and helpful while we were there. Honua Kai was an easy place to be. When we return to Maui with our grandchildren we’re sure they’ll want to stay in the same place. We had a lovely time! Thank you, Trevor.

We stayed 9 nights and really enjoyed our stay. This location has the best of both worlds. A privately owned condo with resort amenities (minus the maid service). The resort was beautiful and perfect for our family of four. We took full advantage of the pools, the beach, the BBQ grill, kitchen, laundry, the spa and of course Duke's. We cooked about 50% of our meals. The rice cooker was a nice touch. The only negative was that there really isn't much storage in the kitchen for pantry items if you plan on bringing your own groceries and I noticed that the sofa had some water stains so it's probably due for a cleaning. Overall though I felt the condo was very well maintained and clean. We also really appreciated the beach toys and gear that were provided. Being on the ground level was super convenient, but there were times I wished that I could see the sunset from a balcony. Most days we were by the pool to watch the sunset anyway so that wasn't a big deal. Our host was always very responsive with any questions. If you are on the fence about going to Maui, you should definitely do it. The resort wasn't crowded at all and we felt totally safe. Thanks for a great stay!

We just got back from our 4th family trip to Maui and everyone had a great time. We always book a condo someplace so we can cook our own meals and I have been wanting to try Honua Kai after hearing so much about it from friends that raved about it. Well, it sure didn't disappoint what a beautiful resort! And Konea 142 has to be one of the nicest and most comfortable places I've stayed. The ground floor with a very private and lush garden setting and easy access to the beach. It's super quiet and you hardly see anyone. Trevor adds a lot of nice touches, like high quality bedding, and providing beach chairs and boogie boards (which came in very handy), and his on-island property manager makes sure everything is in order. A few tips; Duke's gets booked way ahead (like, months) but if you put your name in at the host stand, you'll usually get a table in an hour or two and they text you when it's ready. We never had a problem getting a table there and its definitely worth it, but you just have to be patient. If you are in a rush, there are food trucks lined up across the street from the little strip mall. The beach right outside Honua Kai has alot of rock and coral in the shallows (be careful) but if you walk down to a spot in between Honua Kai and the Westin, the sand goes way out and there are some nice shade trees. The parking garage is underground and can fill up quickly at night. If you want to sample some of Maui's nightlife, which is pretty limited, an Uber trip is recommended ($15 trip to Lahaina in a minivan). And for the best "Mai Tai"? You should try Monkeypod in Whaler's Village (owned by Merriman's). Happy hour 3:30-5pm. Their "White Walker" concoction is also quite amazing, and the food is great too.

Our ground floor unit was perfect for this holiday as we were engaged in sharing some time with family staying at Papakea as well as others staying in house here. The location was excellent and the surrounding services and amenities good. The quality of the unit was high, it was very clean and the furnishings were good quality, and although there were a couple of electrical issues that needed attending they did not impact on our holiday. The resort itself is a 4 star hotel and the only thing that I personally found negative was the level of personal attention from staff. We were there 9 days and it did not include one room change of towels and linen. We were not contacted once to ask if we were happy or if there were any problems. I believe these services should be included. In a two bedroom unit that could accommodate 6 there were only 4 dining room chairs around the table. Again as we did not use the room much it did not impact on us but it would have in other circumstances. The restaurant, Dukes at Kaánipali had good food but their reservations policies forced you to book for all required meals and cancel if you changed your mind. I believe this is a waste of time and effort and their system should be upgraded. The staff were cool and unsympathetic to a couple with babies with regards to getting meals, waiting for a table and in general did not appear all that interested in providing the service . On the other hand there were a few excellent staff and they were rewarded for their service. Overall I wasn't impressed. We ended up walking to the Weston and having dinner in their signature Italian restaurant. We found an extreme shortage of reasonably priced breakfast places in the area and ended up a Java Jazz for a number of meals....great service....good prices and really interesting decor. The grocery store across the road provided cheap food and alcohol and prepacked meals.... All in all we were very happy with the holiday but would not stay there again. We would stay in a view apartment if ever there is a next time.

Can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay. Exactly how advertised! Especially loved the touches of beach toys, chairs, and boogie boards. While traveling with our teen and toddler, this condo was set up perfectly, including plastic cups and stepping stools for younger children and movies for the older. Also, one difference about your condo verses others, is the privacy the lanai has with the beautiful lush plants. Other condos, you are sitting on lanai watching all the people walk by, this one felt like we were the only ones at the resort. :-) Can't thank you enough Trevor! Only minor issues/points which prevent a full five star rating. master bedroom tv did not work but was not a big deal for us. Owner was aware and probably replaced by the time this is written. Sofa sleeper is good for a light weight kid but may be uncomfortable for an adult. Luckily we had one of our sons sleep on it and he did not seem to mind. But mattress is thin and not very good as are most sleeper sofa mattresses.

Our family of five spent a wonderful week here at the beginning of August. I feel like we really lucked into a marvelous place. Initially, I chose this particular condo because I would be coming off a knee surgery shortly before we were scheduled to travel and wanted a ground floor unit. As it turned out, we got a beautiful, well-appointed, fantastically located unit owned by someone who really cares about his guests' experience. The condo was exactly as advertised. Both the elevator to the parking garage and the pools are super-convenient, as are the Viking grills. The unit itself was lovely, with plenty of linens and a well-stocked kitchen. And we loved having breakfast out on the lanai. Part way through our visit the dryer stopped working. Trevor went out of his way to make sure it was fixed ASAP, which we really appreciated. We can't wait to go back!

Aloha, The carpet and furniture was heavily stained, needs deep cleaning. Bring your own toilet paper and soap, there's limited stock in the unit. The washer and dryer didn't work properly. The caretaker promptly respond to the service request, but the problem sustained. Don't count on the resort staff assisting you with any needs, there's a limited staff. Amenities were much better in tower one compared to Konea tower. Expect your breakfast and lunch at Duke's to be for the birds! They'll be eating at your table. Once while I was eating, I dropped a small piece of bread, and a bird flew in and caught it in its beak before it even hit the ground. Don't worry the birds aren't meat eaters! I recommend eating dinner at Merriman's at Kapalua and Lahaina Grille. Be warned, the price is about $200 for a family of four. I got a crooked neck every night from the horrible pillows and lumpy mattresses. At the beach, expect to bring your own umbrella for the blistering heat, and your own beach chair for the rocky sand, as the resort provides neither. The ocean water was very warm, but the sand on the bottom was so rocky, I got cuts on my toes everyday. Moving on to the caretaker, Michelle C. She was strict but overall helpful in assuaging the overall bad experience. We were one out of 20 units that she was managing, and she would always tell you that as a way of saying: "I'm busy, don't bother me." In the first few days of our stay, we were seriously considering leaving the resort to finish our vacation at a resort in Kapalua. I was requested by the owner to submit nothing less than a five-star review, and only send our honest opinions to him via e-mail. But I was set firmly against misleading the public. I recommend similar priced alternatives at other resorts in the Kapalua area. Mahalo.

We had a great time here at Honua Kai. Resort has 3 great pools and Dukes serves drinks and pool side food. Unit itself has very good kitchen, laundry facilities, bathrooms, lounge and bedrooms. We rented a car for the week, and I think any family staying here would need due to its location.

Before our trip, Trevor was very responsive helping both to fulfill both couple's agenda with dinner venue suggestions (that didn't disappoint!) and Maui activities. In terms of the VRBO rental, the pics posted do not do this rental justice. The unit is much bigger than it appears. All rooms are EXTREMELY spacious. We had two couples and a teenager. No one ever felt on top of each other and no one could hear the other. We also loved the Lanai and loved loved LOVED being able to open it and just hang out in the unit. We actually spent an afternoon just hanging out in the unit. Also, the rental is full of snorkel gear and beach gear. This gear is well maintained. It made being spontaneous and flexible incredibly easy. The resort as a whole is great with lovely service. If you go to Costco and get the vacation supplies, the resort will store even your perishables before you can check in. We also had a really lovely dinner at Duke's the bar and grill located on the premises. If you forget anything, there is a great supermarket within 3 minute walk from Trevor's unit. We will DEFINITELY rent this VRBO again and again and again. Thank you Trevor!

My husband and I and our daughter and son-in-law stayed hear in mid May. The condo was the perfect size for the 4 of us. Both bedrooms had large bathrooms attached. The kitchen was even stocked with spices, oils and all the basics. There was even a speaker we plugged our iphones in for music each evening as we grilled & sat out on the patio.The resort had everything we needed and the location was perfect. We'd definitely stay here again. Thank you so much Trevor!

Just returned from Maui last week and our stay at Honua Kai, Konea tower unit 142. Have to say we loved the condo. Trevor has it prepped to take care of all your needs, from boogie boards to dishes and pots and pans, it was very family ready. My kids loved the fold out sofa bed and it enabled us and to still have our privacy of the bedroom with our own tv as well. Big plus for us was the walk out patio doors that you can also lock from outside. We had several meals on the quiet peaceful patio and it was just a short walk from there to the pools and BBQ. It was also close to the elevator and the underground parking garage which definitely helped with luggage and groceries. Michelle met us when we arrived and was super helpful and professional and answered all our questions. Initially I couldn't lock the patio doors from the outside, and I contacted michelle who came within the hour and was able to show me the process (It was my fault for not paying attention the first time :) It was very reassuring to know that any issues are handled very promptly. All in all we loved the condo, especially the ground floor location and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and definitely recommend to friends and family.

The awesome service started right when we pulled into the resort. We were greeted by the bellman who had a cart with large bins to assist with all the supplies that we picked up from Costco. We were then greeted by Michelle who gave us a brief tour of the resort and showed us our room. When Michelle opened the refrigerator there were 4 nice and cold beers and some juice that were a great treat after our long 5 hour flight. The layout of our room allowed us way more space than we needed for our family of 4. One of the bedrooms was set up to have two twin beds and the other was the master with a king bed. All of the beds are top of the line with very nice sheets and pillows. The kitchen is laid out very well and is stocked with everything you can think of that you may need during the stay. The unit was also stocked with 4 beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards and snorkeling gear for the entire family which we put to full use for the entire stay. We spent 3 nights making use of the outdoor bbq with little to no wait and enjoyed eating at both the indoor dining table and also the outside table on the patio. We spent a couple of nights hanging in Lahaina and utilized Trevor's recommendations for places to eat dinner and also enjoyed a very yummy shaved ice at Ululani's. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about this condo! We also liked the fact that any food that we had not used along with drinks would go to the people that maintain the property or to the next family to use the condo. This by far was one of the best vacations that our family has gone on Thank you!
