My wife and I spent our honeymoon here and had a fantastic stay. The condo complex had a very family friendly and easy-going atmosphere that was very relaxing. We loved that basically everything that we wanted to wasn’t more than half an hour away. The views were spectacular; our final sunset on the lanai was incredibly memorable. We appreaciated that the condo was well stocked with extra towels, beach items, cooking ware, and dishes. Very highly recommended and would stay there again!

The property is dated but location is perfect for us with literally miles of continuous beach.
Some of the dishes weren’t very clean and they could make an area to access luggage etc but these are minor things to improve.view

We were impacted by the travel delays due to the tech outage and Loren was incredibly compassionate and kind while we were trying to sort out our flight home. Communication was prompt and helpful each time we needed to ask a question, even just about the door code or check in. In addition, the condo was clean, excellently located, and stocked with all the amenities we could have possibly needed for beach days or longe days. The view from the balcony was lovely and there was even a small supply of books and such to keep occupied. Checkout requests were also very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend this property and particularly this host if you’re staying in Maui, our trip was better and less stressful that it could have been largely due to Loren’s prompt communication and excellent hosting! 10/10 would recommend!

We spent a couple days at sugar beach because of the location on the beach, views and access to the pool and hot tub. The condo was great with everything we needed in the kitchen and coffee/drinks on the lanai were perfect. Our host answered our questions quickly and positively. My husband and I had a lovely time on our first time trip to the Hawaii Islands. This unit provided a well deserved rest as it was quiet and relaxed. We snorkeled, went to a Luau, and discovered the island by just driving around. I recommend finding public beaches in the southern Kihei area, they are excellent, clean, and easy to swim.

We love the location of this condo. It is so easy to get to all parts of the island from here. The condo is very nice and the view is sublime. Everything you could need is stocked in the condo. This is the second time we've stayed in this complex. It has a nice pool and jacuzzi and an onsite bar/sandwich shop. It's a great place to stay!

We had a wonderful week at the Sugar Beach Resort. We had been to Maui many times and stayed in different parts of the island, and we love the centrality of North Kihei. The resort is an easy drive from Kahului and less than an hour to Kapalua, Haleakala, and La Perouse Bay. The beautiful, 4-mile Sugar Beach borders the property and made for perfect morning walks. The unit had everything we needed, from folding chairs and an umbrella to a full set of appliances, all in great condition. Even parking was a snap. The pool and barbecue were very nice and there were plenty of options for relaxing on the beach, the grass, or poolside. We never had to hunt for chaises or wait for a grill and the people we met were very friendly. We loved the entire week and will be back.

Another perfect stay at Sugar beach.
The ocean views and hearing the crashing waves from the lanai, cant be beat. Beautiful walks on the beach, right in front of the condo never get old.
This area is perfect to stay, no matter where you’re headed on Maui, it won’t take long from here.

The condo lived up to its listing. The direct ocean view from the unit and lanai provided ample opportunities to view sunsets and migrating whales. The unit itself has all of the amenities of home. On top of that, the pool and BBQ area on the resort complex were great for when we were done with the beach and wanted to cook in.

Awesome view! We used their beach chairs and noodles almost daily. Several spices and oils, we didn’t have to go buy everything like in some units. Sugar Beach rocks. Decent snorkeling right in front of the condos. Long walkable beach. Great location, quick drive to all the stores and restaurants in Kihei or Kahului.

stocked, it had everything we needed plus much more. The view was fantastic and the bed comfy. Location was great for first timers to Maui. Nothing was too far away and amenities were close by. The beach was very swimmable, we even saw a turtle. It was nice to take a dip during sunset. It can get a bit windy in the afternoons, but it didn’t bother us.

The view of the beach and sounds of the waves made the experience for us. The place was stocked with everything we could possibly need. Loved our stay, the booking process was easy and the communication with the owner Loren was friendly and professional. Loren answered any questions we had promptly and was great to deal with. Unfortunately my wife had an accident on the island and we were more or less confined to the unit for the second week of our stay.

Unfortunately, swimming pool was closed for maintenance. This was communicated to us before we arrived but after we have already paid.
Please note that the bed is very high with no option to climb on it. No steps no ledge. Dangerous for older people.

Nothing beats the views and sound of the beach from the balcony! The location gave us easy access for everything we wanted to see, even the Road to Hana and Haneakala. Easy access to food nearby, great to swim in the beach front at the property, but bring swim shoes! Rocky!

Overall really enjoyable, right on the beach with ocean view from the balcony. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, sugar and even a coffee bean grinder. Only nit-picks are: missing power cable to the Blu-ray player (which had the Netflix app), so I plugged in my laptop, and the Wi-Fi was a bit flaky. But those were really minor - we loved morning beach walks, evening hot tub/pool, and even used the community grill to grill dinner one evening.

Been to sugar beach many times this condo was basic in all the supplies. The view is amazing. It would be nice if they up graded the couch not very comfortable not that we spent that much time in the condo. No welcome gift as previously mentioned in other reviews. Overall we knew what to expect so we were not disappointed.

I agree with most of the other reviewers here: the location is great, the view is spectacular, the apartment is dated and needs a deep clean scrub. We also had some issues when we got there—the apartment was in the middle of being cleaned when we arrived due to some confusion, and as a result we felt like the cleaning quality was mostly good, but missed some spots and we had no paper towels and extra toilet paper (they brought it later when we called).
There are stains on the carpet and the washer and dryer have sand all over the insides—again, just needs a little bit of a better clean. And yes: the bed is super high off the ground but we didn’t mind.
Overall we had a great time, location is perfect, and the views were spectacular. The hiccups were just hiccups.

What a tranquil place this was. Located on the edge of Kihei Town, Sugar Beach was just what the doctor ordered! Only feet from the shore, listening to the waves throughout the day and night was absolutely mesmerizing. It was such a treat to sit on the lanai and watch the occasional turtle swim by. The condo was the perfect size for us. Everything was in great shape and very clean.

We love Sugar Beach and had a great visit. The unit is nice and was very well stocked with kitchen items, beach gear/towels, laundry supplies and there was plenty of storage but could use some updating. The bed is extremely high off the ground which makes it difficult to get in and out of. The coffee pot could also be replaced and was dirty (full of grounds) when we arrived. Overall a great place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed this property and Maui! We are seniors and did it all. Don't let age stop you. The view from the lanai is breathtaking, especially at sunset. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment and basic panty items. The condo had everything we needed except garbage bags. We purchased laundry detergent too, but if you run by Walmart on your way from the airport, you'll be set. There is a snorkel rental shop on the property with good deals. One bedroom closet has many items for the beach and island sight seeing. Nice thick beach towels were in one of the dresser drawers. We found binoculars stored under the flat screen tv. The ice chest was perfect for our trips to Haleakala - the crater is unbelievably beautiful, the fascinating lava fields, nearby snorkeling, the west coast, Lahaina, the Road to Hana - both north and the paved section of south, the blowhole of Nakalele Point, swimming pools in the Acid War Zone, the Iao Needle, etc. Our favorite meals were probably at the South Maui Fish Company. So much great food on Maui and so little time! The last full day there, we were blessed to see several honu from the lanai. Whale season is the only way our trip might have been better. But that just gives us an excuse to go back!

I have to be honest in writing this review. There were pros and cons to the property. The location was good, close by to about everything. The view was awesome and there is a beach and pool area. The lanai furniture was good. The air conditioning was effective. The cons, depending on your expectations and preferences-- Sugar Beach condos are older, as many in Maui probably are. The layout of the units are such that the bedroom window is so high you have no view, plus they needed washing. Some units may be more updated then others. Ours was not. I would not describe it as "Deluxe." Sugar Beach is rather narrow, good for hiking and one can hike a long ways, but we went to other beaches to sunbath and there are lots fairly close. We did have an enjoyable stay.

We spent a fantastic 2 weeks in this unit and would not hesitate to stay here again, the unit had everything we needed including the boogie boards and pool noodles. The whole process was easy with absolutely no problems on our arrival, we just moved in and relaxed for our stay. The unit match dthe description very well.
The complex is centrally located so we were quick to most places and the beach is great just be careful of the coral if you run into the water. The views from the lanai are amazing, we spent countless hours watching the whales and turtles from there. We definitely will look at staying in this unit when we return to Maui. Thanks!

We stayed at April and Loren's Sugar Beach condo over this past New Year's for five nights. The resort itself is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. Dina's 'Sand-witch' was a great place right on the resort for very good pub food and drinks, and we used the onsite events office to help us plan some outings on the island; they were very helpful.
The condo was lovely, comfortable and supplied everything from bath soap to boogie boards. The beach is right out the door, and we enjoyed many long walks and daily swims at this breathtaking beach. The proximity to town, South Kihei, and other beaches was terrific - for dining, shopping, etc. April and Loren had also sent us many helpful suggestions for renting water sports gear, places to food shop, car rental agencies, and good local places to check out - that was much appreciated!
The view from the condo lanai where we sat every morning helped create amazing moments and memories - sipping our Kona coffee, enjoying local produce, watching outrigger canoes race by, and photographing spectacular rainbow displays - what a way to start off 2016!!

This condo was VERY reasonably priced considering the view and amenities you get when you stay here. The lanai provided memorable sunrises and sunsets everyday. We had a great time and our condo was exactly as it appeared online. We absolutely loved the location - the beach was not crowded and we enjoyed walking on it everyday. The condo was stocked with everything you need and more! We had an issue with the coffee pot the first morning but when we phoned to let them know they had a new one delivered the next day. The view from the Lanai was incredible with the most amazing sunsets. We also enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. The temperature in the pool was perfect - not too cold as some pools can be. It was a bit busy at the barbecues but we somehow managed to get our food cooked without having to wait too long. Booking the condo was so easy. We also booked a snorkel tour to Molokini and it was amazing. I highly recommend the tour to anyone who wants to snorkel and enjoy the sea life. We saw humpback whales, a sperm whale ( which is very rare in Hawaii), dolphins, a black octopus, sea turtles and tons of colorful fish. Mahalo to April for allowing us to rent their waterfront condo!!!

We thank April and her husband so much for letting us stay in their condo. Loved the location since it was off the heavy traffic areas. And since it was away from the lights of the congested areas the night skies were just beautiful.Could easily get to about any spot on the island and then be back HOME to cook supper on the grill and then eat it on the lanai and watch the sunset. Their condo was stocked with absolutly everything we needed for our home away from home. Hoping that we make it back in September next year. Was kind of cold to snorkle in March, but watching the whales was a true treat.
