Just two minutes to walk to the beach. Very good quiet neighborhood. My master bed was very comfortable and my bedroom had separate doors to go outside or to deck. Manager was very easy to communicate with. Definitely we will come back.

This is the second time we were lucky enough to stay in this amazing home. Everything about this home is special and welcoming. It’s modern, breezy, has every appliance you could need in the kitchen, comfy sheets on the incredibly comfy beds, plenty of bath and beach towels, a yoga mat. You can walk around the amazing porch, that looks out at both the gorgeous tropical mountains and the gorgeous beach! You can watch the sunrise every morning by walking down the simple pathway. I mean, it’s just the best rental we have ever been to. We feel blessed to have been back again and would be honored to be able to stay again in the future.

This beautiful home was the gem to our Hawaiian vacation! Located in a quiet neighborhood within steps to the beach. One of the most well appointed homes we've rented through VRBO as far as ammenities and a fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed cooking for family and friends while enjoying the beautiful view! Excellent communication with the house manager when we needed her. Kauai is our favorite of the Hawaiian Islands and this home is now a favorite too!

This Haena home was absolutely lovely. The house is comfortably furnished and is just a 2 minute walk to an empty reef beach. Unfortunately for us the HVAC system broke just a few days before we arrived in two of the bedrooms. The master was perfectly fine so we tried to tough it out but it was just too hot for the kiddos, so our amazing Hawai’i Life hosts worked with us to transfer to a different property. Everyone was so kind and helpful- so much aloha! We’d be honored to stay there again. Had it been any other season of the year, the A/C would not have even been an issue for us. I would recommend both the home and the hosts without any hesitation.

We loved this house and the location close to a beautiful beach. But, the ac units in the bedrooms hardly worked at all. They were serviced a month prior to our visit, so maybe they need replacing. Mgmt wasn't very responsive during our stay, and couldn't get someone out to look. They told us the ac is working properly (if so, you're going to have very warm bedrooms!). It was only in the 70s while we were so it wasn't even that hot. We didn't get a satisfactory refund for our trouble.

A beautiful home a stones throw from a lovely quiet beach. The beach is safe for snorkeling, swimming, or just watching the sunrise and set.
You could easily walk to the well known tunnels beach and not have to worry about parking.
Home came well equiped with beach essentials
as well as all the necessary cooking esseantials to make
great family meals. My favorite part was awaking every morning and seeing the sunrise from my bed.

From the mountains to the ocean and lush tropical greenery in between, the views are unmatched. We were a group of 6 and had more than enough room in this spacious, clean and well appointed home. It has everything thing you need and more. The short path to a private beach is the icing on the cake! We would definitely stay here again!

We can't say enough about our beautiful Kauai vacation! Our home was perfect and far exceeded our expectations. The photos do not do it justice! The home was so roomy and clean, with the most stunning views! We mostly loved that we were just steps away from the most beautiful beach in Haena! We snorkled almost everyday of our 10 day vacation and were lucky enough to see a few turtles as well as the most beautiful fish! Definitely one of the highlights of our trip! We had many things planned during our vacation, however we found that we all preferred to stay at the house and play on the beach! It will be a trip that we will FOREVER remember! The kitchen provided us with everything we needed to prepare our meals and truly felt like home away from home. The only complaint was the A/C unit in the living room did not work and neither did the dishwasher but it definitely wasnt something that impacted our stay negatively! We can't say enough wonderful things about our stay and cannot wait to get our next vacation planned at the same property!

We stayed for a week at the end of Aug. beginning of Sept. with our son and his wife. There is plenty of room to spread out and have privacy. The master suite is at the opposite end of the great room or living space from the other two bedrooms and bath. The house is absolutely gorgeous, the pictures do not do it justice. I couldn’t believe how huge the wrap around deck was and the gas bbq works great! The kitchen has everything you need and then some. Unfortunately there was a problem with the dishwasher during our stay,but we were ok with hand washing. The week we were there the beach out front was a little windy/choppy so not great for swimming or snorkeling, however it’s a relatively short walk to Haena/Tunnels where there is some protection from the wind. There is a restaurant (Opakapaka) right next door at the Colony about a 3 minute walk away. Generous drink pours, so-so food, beautiful views.If you’re looking for privacy and luxury this is the place.Just a few notes:The A/C works greatThere are beach chairs, an umbrella, cooler and fins at the houseIf you take night walks wear bug sprayEverything is clean and sparkling - I almost walked through a sliding glass door :DBe sure to walk out on the beach at night, the stargazing is to die for.

The initial communication was great. We got regular updates and check in instructions by email prior to arriving. However, when we did arrive, we had some trouble getting in or reaching anyone to help us. We eventually got in touch (they were also exploring the beauty of Kaua'i) and got in to the house. After that, it was smooth sailing. The location is amazing and the house is well furnished. Our group had people aged 1 to 80 and everyone was happy and comfortable. The nearby beach was great for hanging out and its proximity to Ha'ena Beach and the State Park as well as the Limahuli Garden make it just about perfect.

Our family of four was very comfortable here and this home has one of the best-stocked kitchens of the homes we’ve stayed in. It is literally a handful of steps to the beach-access trail, a short walk to Tunnels (awesome snorkeling!), and 12-15 minutes to either Haena (get your permit 30 days ahead!) or Hanalei. It’s a lovely, quiet neighborhood and area of the island.The managers were quickly responsive and helpful! I would bring my family here again, without a doubt.

So many things we can say about our vacation. First is that the pictures do not do the home justice. Much nicer in person and bigger! Great layout and perfect location. You walk out the property and right there is a path to a very secluded beach. We had lots of rain so we probably spent more time in the home then we had expected, but it was perfect! We are already booking again!

We just returned from a wonderful family vacation with our group of seven and loved our week staying at Haena Kai. The home was modern and gave us so much space to enjoy each other in the great room with cooking, eating, and hanging out on the couch. The outside patio that wrapped around the home gave us plenty of privacy, lots of shady spots, and views of the ocean. The location of the home to the beach was amazing. Within a few minutes, we could have our feet in the sand on a very quiet and clean beach. This was our favorite beach to snorkle at on the North shore as we were able to see so many fish while feeling safe. Swimming with our local turtle was also a bonus. We would definately love to come back and stay in this quiet neighborhood and house again soon. One final note was that our host (Lu) was so fabulous and was so attentive and kind when we had questions about the home. She was such a joy to correspond with and such a great asset to an amazing accommodation in this wonderful pocket of paradise. Thank you for allowing our family to be guests in your home. We had the BEST family trip here. The house is totally dialed in and updated. But most importantly the location is amazing. If you are looking for North Shore paradise - you found it here. Just a minute from a quiet beach that’s calmer than Tunnels. We snorkeled about 5 times a day right out front and had a name for every turtle. Great house, well managed and I plan to come back :)

We were absolutely thrilled with this home! As everyone states, it’s beyond amazing. We stayed there with our 3 little kiddos for a week and there was ample room for playing, lounging, cooking, and hanging out. This home was well stocked with everything you need to cook and simple things like, hand and dish soap. We appreciated all the attention to details. We walked to the beach every day, which is just a few steps away. It was truly magical. The beach was perfect for little kiddos who wanted to play in the waves and also ideal for snorkeling adventures! I only hope that we are lucky enough to return here someday. Thank you to the homeowners and caretakers of this home. It was an outstanding experience and we will recommend to anyone traveling to the North Shore of Kauai.

If anything, this house is better than advertised! Amazing views and a (very) short walk to the beach. Quiet beach, warm (and perfect) breezes, and a great lanai to take it all in! We brought our children and my parents to The Islands for the first time and they were spoiled with this location. We can’t wait to get back and get on island time again! We loved our stay at Haena Kai. We were 4 adults total, 2 couples. The house is thoughtfully designed, with essentially 2 wings and 1 bath in each. The home has great natural light and ocean views and a lovely kitchen with many appliances. I also appreciated the many comfortable touches, including beach towels and yoga mats. I would love to stay there again.

If it’s your first time to Kauai and you want to explore the island, there are probably better locations to stay.

Important to know if you have any sort of physical challenge. Also, in case planning who sleeps where…. only queen or king beds in bedrooms- none of bedrooms have two beds. Beds are very comfortable. Perfect location, perfect property, perfect island. Not enough can be said about how wonderful this property is. It is just steps to the short path to the beach, which is a quiet not highly trafficked beach to sit back and enjoy the tranquil scenery and the occasional resting monk seal. There were plenty of beach chairs to use and the host was wonderful helping us get a cooler needed for our beach trips. The house is exquisite with modern finishes and everything you need, plus some, to enjoy your surroundings and make meals in their large beautiful kitchen. There is a conveniently placed hose to wash your feet off before walking up the stairs to your luxury home for your stay. The master suite with bathroom sits on one wing of the house and the other two bedrooms with their bathroom at the other end. This was a wonderful setup for my husband and I with our infant in the master and my brother, sister-in-law and nephews at the other end. The huge wrap around porch with overhanging eave was the best spot to catch the sunsets and stargaze at night as well as being protected from the afternoon rain showers. Such a peaceful neighborhood which is just a short drive to Tunnels beach and Hanalei Bay and all the other great offerings that north shore Kauai has to explore. We were at complete ease and enjoyed this property immensely and will definitely be back!

This was our third stay in this house. We love the home and the staff of Hawaii Life were once again excellent at accommodating all our requests. Our familiarity with the property enabled us to notice the upgrades the owners have made over the past few years. We have chosen to continue to return to this home because of its ideal location, the layout and amenities of the home, the fantastic location and friendly neighbors. We had only one issue on this trip. The sink in the two bedroom wing was not draining. The staff at Hawaii Life promptly came by to drano the sink, but it did not work. We did not request for the sink to be snaked, but it would have been ideal if the sinks were checked before hand. This is a small complaint for an otherwise perfect stay.Thank you to the owners and Hawaii Life for the great experience. We will definitely be back!

After honeymooning in Kauai 35 years ago, my husband and I returned and stayed at beautiful Haena Kai with our grown children. One of the first things you notice when walking in the house are the breathtaking views of the mountains and ocean from the magnificent windows! The home is designed so well and flows wonderfully. There is a table on the lanai to enjoy meals outdoors, as well as two lounge chairs. The kitchen is well equipped with all needed equipment, serveware, etc. It was a delight to cook meals while enjoying the great views. The bedrooms and baths are lovely. Lu, the property manager left us a welcome note, but we never felt the need to bother her with a question. The beach is steps away down a little beach access path and several other beaches are close by. Hanalei is about 15 min. away. The road closures really did not impact our stay - just plan accordingly for whatever activities you have planned. We hated to leave and are already planning a return visit. Haena Kai is truly magical! Mahalo for a wonderful week!

Haena Kai is a gorgeous, well-appointed home steps from the beach in a remote area of Kauai. If you want a secluded island paradise with modern amenities (broadband, A/C), this is it! Lu, the Haena Kai host, and Meghan, the housekeeper, are amazing - incredibly responsive, attentive to detail, and hard-working. The house is white-glove clean upon arrival, but more importantly, they work overtime to ensure that your experience is stress-free when things come up during your stay (even if they're not related to the house itself). Truly amazing client service!Be aware that it takes 1.5-2 hours to drive from Haena Kai to the South Side of the island, which is where many of Kauai's featured attractions are (virtually all scuba diving, Waimea canyon, Wailua falls, Poipu, etc.), and that the Hanalei hill landslide (spring/summer 2021) means that careful scheduling is required if you want to do anything on the other 90% of the island. On a weekday, for instance, you can't travel between the two sides between the hours of 7:45a-1p, 2:30-5:30p, or 11p-5:30a. Even during open hours, be prepared for long waits to get across. It also means that things take longer to service; one of the A/C units broke before we arrived and wasn't going to be fixed until well after we left. This is just a fact of life on this part of the island; if it's something that's going to bother you, don't stay here.Hanalei, Tunnels, Napali/Kalalau, Ha'ena State Park, and Ke'e are all very close and absolutely beautiful, as well as less busy than their South Shore counterparts (NB: as of 5/2021, non-residents need reservations to enter Ha'ena State Park/Ke'e Beach/Kalalau).

Being our first time in Kauai, we were lucky to pick a perfect place. We shared with friends and had a deeply relaxing vacation. The house is located in a very quiet area, with very little traffic but not far from a quaint town. We loved the farmer's markets and went to several around the island. The house is beautifully remodeled with a well-equipped kitchen (high quality items that make you feel at home) and nothing was missing and so we made some great food, but it wasn't cluttered and there wasn't too much stuff either. The living room was spacious with comfortable furniture, a large TV (which we didn't use often!), and the beds were great and private enough for different families to spend time together and individually. The linens were high quality and there were ample supplies for fun on the beach, which was only about 45 seconds from the drive--you can either swim right there or walk down the beach in either direction. Finally the decks are amazing and again, you can either congregate or find a quiet spot away from others in your group. We can't wait to come again!

This is probably the best VRBO I've ever been to. We traveled for spring break with two other couples and we had all the space and amenities we could have asked for in a home that has clearly recently been remodeled. In addition to being a great jumping off point for exploring Kauai's beautiful north shore, we really enjoyed the time we spent at the house as well. We cooked in most nights using the extensive collection of kitchen tools and the propane grill, watched the Zags in the NCAA tournament on a sweet TV, and spent our evenings stargazing on the wrap around deck. And it was really convenient being able to wash our sweaty hiking clothes in the washing machine. I practically had to drag my wife kicking and screaming off the beach to get her in the car to go to the airport! She's still talking about her daily swims in the water 30 seconds from the house. We will definitely being returning to this property.
I highly recommend booking this location for a peaceful and serene experience on Kauai's north shore.

This place was simply perfect. We wanted to be on the North shore in a quiet area very near the beach. We got all that plus Haena Kia was luxurious, clean, and well equipped. We had 3 adults and 3 kids in our party and everyone was very happy with this house. The beach chairs and toys were very much appreciated as well. The Greek restaurant and coffee shop in the neighboring development were conveniently close, and Hanalei was a scenic 20 minute drive away. If I had to pick a favorite aspect of the house it was being able to sleep with the windows open, and screens shut in order to hear the ocean as we fell asleep and woke up. Thanks

The rental couldn't have been more perfect! I have stayed at dozens of VRBO's and this place by far exceeded my expectations. It has every amenity you could think of and beyond. We loved being in the lush northern part of the island. The snorkelling right does the path from the house and the walks along the beach were stunning and perfect. The house itself is perfectly laid out. Loved the kitchen and all the windows and screened doors to get a breeze or enter and exit from. Beds were very comfortable.
