Fantastic location. We stayed here with family when we were in town for a wedding. Such a special place to wake up each morning and watch the ocean. The home was very spacious and comfortable for a large group.

We absolutely loved our stay here. I was initially a little concerned with no air condition, but honestly, the open windows and listening to the ocean at your backyard added to the experience. The yard was full of fruiting plants and the children especially loved getting to search for fruit and playing on the rope swing. We were concerned that there wouldn't be enough to keep us entertained while in the town of Hana, but the beach nearby and the house itself was so wonderful that we were sad to leave. I can't recommend highly enough!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 day visit here, especially the closeness to the water and to Hamoa Beach. If we didn’t begin our day at Hamoa, we definitely ended it there. What an amazing beach to visit! We enjoyed our outside excursions, and were happy to come back here to relax. The sound of the waves crashing so relaxing, and nice to fall asleep to, and the fans helpful for those hotter nights, but overall the heat wasn’t too bad. The house has all the amenities, incl washer and dryer in separate area; Susie took good care of us. We’d definitely come back!

Stayed 5 days and live the Hana vibe and this home fits right into it. Expect a slightly dated old style Hawaiian home that has been well cared for all on a magnificent property right in the heart of paradise loved it!!!!!

The house had everything we needed to enjoy this side of Maui. Perfect location for a short walk to a beautiful beach, and short drive to hiking some amazing trails and local swimming holes. The outdoor space was my favorite. Listening to the ocean from everywhere including the master bedroom was a close second.

The house is perfect for 6 adults, but can definitely accommodate more people - as there are 3 bedrooms with a total of 3 queen beds, 1 King bed and a double futon.
The kitchen is large and had everything we needed to make a big group dinner for 10 people. The bbq by the front door worked well, as well as all of the appliances in the kitchen.
The waves come right up to the edge of the property, but there is lava rock there, so I highly recommend sturdy water shoes if you want to take a dip there.
The hot tub was wonderful and the hammock on the lawn was a beautiful spot to rest.
Hamoa Beach and Koki Beach are both within walking distance - so it truly an ideal location.
The bathrooms were nice, were stocked with shampoo/conditioner/soap/ blow dryer - and they had a good supply of beach towels for us to borrow.
There were a few beach chairs and some beach toys in the garage, as well as a large washer & dryer - that were very helpful.
The only downside was the heat/humidity - we all had fans in our rooms, but one was broken so we just bought a small one from Hasegawa’s to keep our room a bit more comfortable.
Gorgeous home, in a really quiet neighborhood. Wonderful getaway!!

This is a solid five star review. The house is absolutely perfect and right on the water. The breeze is heavenly and the location couldn’t be better. It is a very nice home and extremely comfortable and well appointed in every way the back porch is fantastic for being outside as a group, the hot tub is a nice bonus and is also very nice. We would for sure like to return sometime.

The Hana house was just perfect! We especially enjoyed sleeping to the sound of the waves each night. The home was especially clean and very comfortable for our family of 7. Checkin instructions were clear and concise. Our four night stay was just as relaxing as could be. We will definitely stay at this property again if we visit Hana in the future.

April 2024
Hamoa beach is one of our favorite places. Since the house is a short walk to the beach we were able to spend a couple of days going back and forth to take advantage of the best times of the day. The kitchen was well stocked so we were able to make most of our meals during our time in Hana. Susie was very responsive and helpful during our stay. We would definitely stay again!

The house is located on a beautiful property immediately adjacent to the ocean and a rocky shoreline, which makes the sound of the ocean both majestic and beautiful. It’s extremely peaceful. The house is beautiful and extremely well kept. The architecture is stunning and uniquely Hawaiian/Asian. Everything is in tiptop order and well-maintained. Susie is an outstanding host and makes the visit very special. We visit every year and it’s a ritual our family treasures. Thank you to the owners and Susie.

This house was a great place for our family to spend time together. The location is amazing. Just steps away from Hamoa Beach and the ocean breeze is felt throughout the house all day and night. Sunrises in the morning were spectacular. The kitchen is very well equipped. We would definitely stay here again. Susie was very responsive and helpful.

From the minute we pulled into the driveway, we knew we picked the best spot. The house is situated on a beautiful spot where the waves crash and the wind blows. A quick walk to the swim beach, a jog or 3min drive to town. The house had everything we needed and Susie responded promptly to any of our questions. We highly recommend this house!

Our family recently stayed at the Hamoa Beach House for a 2nd time. We all had a great experience and the house was spacious and clean, with all the amenities we needed for our stay. The location is perfect, It has easy access to the Hamoa beach, town, and all of the adventures you can think up. Susie does such a wonderful job of getting the house ready and providing all the local knowledge you could want (all while respecting your privacy). I highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and memorable place to stay.

August 2023
We stayed 4 nights to allow for enough time to relax and enjoy all of the activities available on the SE side of the island. The house was well stocked and perfect for our family. Each morning we enjoyed the sunrise over the ocean with a cup of coffee in our hand, and then go do activities before the day trippers made it to Hana. Each afternoon we could walk to one of the nicest beaches on Maui and relax. Rinsing off in a nice outdoor hot shower, followed by some time in the hot tub, was a great way to end a perfect day.

This is an unbelievable property. Absolutely gorgeous, isolated and serene. You can not beat the view and location. The home was clean and comfortable. They had everything you needed to cook if you wanted to, but with all of the delicious food trucks why would you want to? Perfect relaxing place to end our trip on Maui. We had great communication with the host who was willing to help with whatever we needed. I only wish we could have stayed longer!

Absolutely beautiful home in Hana! We enjoyed every moment of it! Home is very clean and stocked well. Susie, the property manager, is very easy to get ahold of and quick to help! The pictures can’t capture just how beautiful it is here on the property or the views- definitely a must see for yourself!

The road maybe a bit of a roller coaster ride but Hana and this property is so worth it. We had a wonderful time and loved our stay. Beds we’re comfortable the views were breathtaking. I already miss the hammock and the sounds of the ocean.

June 2023
We stayed 3 nights at this ocean front property and it exceeded our expectations. The property is so beautiful and felt so magical. I felt a deep and spiritual connection to this beautiful destination and hope it aligns for me to return again. Check-in was simple and there were notes with instructions and guidance placed for convenience. I felt concerned about there being no AC, but the temps felt comfortable with the ocean breezes. This was a short walk from beautiful Hamoa Beach since the ocean front was not suitable for swimming.
The only aspect we did not care for was the hot tub, which seemed to use an excessive amount of chemicals which burned out eyes and made it so we were not able to use it during our stay.

May 2023
Our stay at this home was amazing! The home sits directly on the coast and has an array of private outdoor spaces to enjoy the view of the Pacific and the evening stars. The home has an old world charm feel and the beds are very comfortable. Communication, check in and check out we’re easy. I hope to return to this beautiful home in the future!

This is a large, comfortable house right at the shore with exquisite views from all rooms. Our multi-generational family of 8 fit very comfortably in this nicely furnished space. There is a landmark beach a short walk from the house. There is lots to do in and around Hana, we enjoyed our stay immensely.

November 2022
6/5 stars for this piece of paradise on the Hana Coast. The house is dated and beaten from the constant oceanside weather, but is open and airy, was very clean and well stocked. I'm not sure there can be a better location on the Hana side of Maui. Morning sunrises are worth 5 stars alone.

November 2022
We really enjoyed our few days in Hana. Loved being able to get up early and see sights before they got busy then walking to the beaches and watching the surfers in the evenings.

The only way to enjoy Hana is yo stay as long as possible!
Best family place to decompress from the mainland stress.
Sean W.
October 2022
The only critique I could offer would be to clean up the perimeter of the property. All the trimmings from however long are just piled up. If I wanted to stay again, I would encourage some AC split units to be added to the bedrooms for comfort. It was a bit warm but we knew that going in. Being between the two most gorgeous beaches I have been to and with the Hui Huli chicken place up the way, our stay was AWESOME.

We loved walking to Hamoa Beach from the house! You can’t ask for a more picturesque location!

September 2022
The view was amazing here, just 30 steps from the house, with so many places to view it from - the hammock, adirndack chairs, charming wood crafted bench, deck, master bedroom deck, hot tub, gazebo and the bedroom balconies. It made my trip. House was nice and spacious. Well stocked kitchen, beach towels, shampoo etc. Pretty bedrooms with fans providing some relief from the heat and comfortable beds. Real nice yard and best outdoor shower with hot water. Sooo easy 5 minute walk to Hamoa Beach. We loved our stay. Thank you so much Hamoa Beach House!

July 2022
Beautiful property. But the biggest surprise was Hamoa Beach, possibly the greatest beach weve ever seen: right up there with Tunnels on Kauai, for those of you who love such things. Big waves, beautiful setting, lots of shade, just so much fun and so close to the house.
The “crowds” in the area were worse than we’ve remembered from past visits, but I suppose that’s the case everywhere. Plus we were here in the height of summer.
My teens appreciated the king beds in every bedroom, and my husband and I appreciated all the vantage points to watch the waves.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful house!

July 2022
This is our third time staying at this amazing property. The house was immaculate when we entered and the visit was fantastic. Susie is a most special host and is super responsive if and when a need arises. Hana is a magical place for our family and this beautiful home places you right in the middle of everything. Thank you so much!

June 2022
Wow! This place is truly a gem. Amazing view. House is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Has everything you need. Short, easy walk to Hamoa Beach - which quickly became our favorite beach on the island! We didn’t want to leave. Would definitely stay here again.

June 2022
The Hana house was the perfect ending to our Maui vacation. The house itself was gorgeous and a great size for our party of 6. The morning and evening views from the living room and back patio were better than expected, and the house itself was extremely well stocked. Add in the quietness of the Hana side with a quick walk to a great beach to body board and swim, this lived up and exceeded all expectations. If we ever have a chance to visit Maui and Hana again, we will definitely look to stay at this amazing location.
TNT M.
June 2022
This property is wonderful! It had a genuine Hawaii feel, not commercialized, which is what we wanted. It was quiet, and serene, close to several beaches and many places to explore. I would definitely stay there again. Right on the ocean. The waves were so calming.
Sushil B.
June 2022
Property is very spacious and reasonably well maintained given it is facing the onslaught of ocean sprays and wind. Hot tub is a great inclusion. Woodwork bathrooms and kitchen are old but all very clean and functional. Very well stocked with towels, beach towels, kitchen utensils, etc. Susie was very responsive and immensely helpful…. Even through a brief panic attack we had after booking when we started reading about the difficult road to Hana. Glad we didn’t cancel !

April 2022
This house was extraordinary. Everywhere we turned we could feel the care the owners had put into it. The kitchen was a pleasure to work in, and often there were 3 or 4 of us preparing meals at once. The living room accommodated all 7 of us in the evenings with room to spare under the high ceilings reading, singing, playing charades. And the views from every deck were breathtaking. Truly outdoor-indoor living, we heard the surf all night and felt the warm breeze. The morning walk to Hamoa Beach took about 5 minutes, the walk down to the fresh fruit stand at the corner of Hamoa and Hana Highway (a very narrow little road by this point) for smoothies and sandwiches about 15. I don't think a minute went by we weren't awed and grateful for this beautiful property. All we can talk about now is when we will return. Mahalo.

April 2022
If you love Hawaiian life you will love this special home. We live on the other side of Maui and come back to this special place every year. It is a connection to how Hawaii is supposed to be, in my opinion. Mahalo to the owner and especially to Susie, the very kind and thoughtful property manager for allowing us to share in the aloha of this special place.

February 2022
Hamoa Beach House was magical! It's truly an incredible gem if you admire how the sea has weathered the house with imperfect beauty. You're steps from the water and can feel the waves gently spray you with each breeze while enjoying a glass of wine from the hot tub. What could be more perfect than this?
We spent 4 wonderful nights here as our base for exploring Hana and East Maui. Swimming under Wailua Falls, hiking the Pipiwai Trail, and Black Sand Beach are not to be missed. You can easily walk to Hamoa Beach and enjoy the day, or walk the other direction to take pictures at Koki Beach as the epic waves roll in. Tony's Place was right around the corner with great burgers, fish specials, and brownie sundaes served in half of a frozen pineapple as a bowl.
The entire home surprises you as some of its story unfolds. I recommend allowing yourself time to savor each moment - enjoy swinging in the hammock looking up through the coconut palms as waves crash beside you and the clouds pass slowly by; hear the ever-present sound of waves meeting rocks and the birds in the trees; feel the smoothness of the eucalyptus floors under your feet; imagine the special moments and love shared between the family whose history is entwined within these walls; watch the sun perfectly reflect sparkles across the water and peaking through the palm trees as sun showers move briefly by; make meals together and enjoy good company around the outdoor and indoor dining tables; admire the many colors of hibiscus flowers that greet you from the front yard...
I'm not usually an early riser, but woke up each morning so I could watch the most phenomenal sunrises I've ever seen right from where the waves meet the coast in the backyard. You should absolutely rise before dawn and bring a warm cup of coffee with you and welcome each new day. If you take time to slowly explore the area, you come to appreciate such details the house has to offer - local artists featured throughout with scenes of nearby places of beauty adorning the walls, retro postcards beckoning visitors to experience "The Last Hawaiian Place", furniture with bamboo carvings that echo local bamboo forests, even traditional, handmade kapa art pieces with cloth made from bark and decorated using plant dyes. The home is a love letter to Hana and it's a welcome retreat for those who wish to experience some of the true magic and joys of this special place on Earth.

This is a great house. The rooms are large and there is lots of space. The sound of the ocean will lol you to sleep, you may have to shut the door as it is very prevalent. Great accommodations, we will be back.

January 2022
A gorgeous house right on the ocean with a constant soundtrack of the waves. It was extremely private with no other house in sight. We never wanted to leave except walk to Homoa Beach. For those wanting to explore the coast this could be a drawback - it’s just to nice to leave.

This location is a DREAM! A peaceful piece of paradise!!

November 2021
The house was old and gloomy. It seems like the owner is doing very bare minimum to maintain the house. The house could use a desperate face lift. The rugs were old, dirty and smelly. All appliances were old and should be discarded. There was no AC so it’s hot and humid. We did not have good sleep during our stay. We didn’t enjoy our stay.

August 2021
We chose this house because we loved Hana last time we visited and felt like it was the "true" Hawaii. This house didn't disappoint. Beautiful and amazing location. Great hot tub after a day of hiking. Comfortable beds. Sunrise in your back ocean in the morning. Close to all things Hana. Staying here allowed us to get ahead of traffic and see sights before the crowds arrived.
August 2021
In my opinion, the only thing missing in this gorgeous home is AC. I loved staying there. It’s warm and inviting, and has a genuine home away from home feeling.

August 2021
This was our second time staying in Hana and this house is beautiful! The location is perfectly located to many of the must sees in Hana. We walked to Homoa and koki beach each day. Huli Huli chicken is also right down the street. Get there early so you can enjoy the chicken before they run out- it’s a must have and incredibly delicious. We had an issue with the TV and WiFi. Susie was great to communicate with and got right on it. The only thing that could have made our stay better was a microwave to warm our leftovers and some window units as it gets warm in the house.

July 2021
This property is all about being ocean front with amazing views, large lanai, close to tide pools and a short walk to a great beach. Plenty of outdoor chairs/lounges for relaxing. The upstairs bedrooms get a little warm, but the portable fans help circulate the air. The house is comfortable, slept well on the beds, kitchen has basic supplies. Our daughter in law loved the orange tile, windows, and wood paneling. Sand toys, mats, beach chairs were available. Washer/dryer available. We loved the house and will stay there next time in Maui.

June 2021
The Hana House was the perfect getaway. Really could not believe our eyes most of the trip. Breathtaking views. Everything we needed at our finger tips. We loved the hot tub in the evenings, Hamoa Beach during the day, the food trucks right down the street made dinners a cinch. Really just a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the west side.

June 2021
This is an excellent place to stay from the house itself, its location and amenities around it. The hot tub was used very frequently, the grill was great to have. Communication was great with Susie and the others that take care of the house. We booked this house as part of a family vacation and it didn’t disappoint, we will definitely book this again when planning to stay on the eastern side of Maui.

my family and i LOVED this house. you can't get any closer to the ocean, and it's literally a 100 yard walk to the AMAZING hamoa beach. it was more than big enough for the 6 of us. the beds were incredibly comfortable and the hot tub is fantastic. a well appointed kitchen and the back yard hammock was a nice bonus. an amazing location in an amazing place! susie was very helpful too...especially when i locked us out one evening. for anyone who wants to really enjoy the hana area, this house is the perfect place!

After spending one week at Kaanapoli Beach, we closed out our family vacation at this rental. We can't say enough positive about the home. The views of the ocean and sunset are unreal! Loved the location being outside the town Hana. Great access to all of the must see areas of Hana. The available boogie boards and beach chairs were an added bonus. Hamoa Beach is now our family's favorite beach on Maui.

July 2014
This is a top notch property to rent. Our family of 5 had a wonderful time spending 4 nights in the Hana area prior to our 2 weeks at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club in Kaanapali. The owner and manager of this property have done a wonderful job ensuring that each rental goes smoothly in an immaculately clean home. We cannot wait to return to this property during our next trip to Maui!

We had a great stay at this wonderful home! Look no further, it has it all! ;) The house was clean, the manager friendly, and you couldn't ask for a better location. The views are incredible from all parts of the house, and we spent most of our time on the hammock watching the sunrise and moonrise! Walking distance to Hamoa beach, best beach on earth ;) Thank you for a wonderful stay!
February 2014
We loved the layout of this house with its spacious rooms and lots of closet space. The location is great with a big yard overlooking the ocean. We booked this house based on the 5 star reviews that were posted. After we booked, there were some negative reviews that described dirt, torn window screens, and cockroaches. Unfortunately, we found the negative reviews to be true. We asked that the lights be left on when we arrived, so that we could find the house in the dark. After driving up and down the road in the rain, calling Susan for directions, we found the house in complete darkness--no lights had been left on for us. Upon arrival, we were greeted in the foyer with a floor rug that had a huge stain on it and a live cockroach in the upstairs bathroom. During our stay there, we killed 3 more cockroaches in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom and found another dead cockroach on the kitchen floor. We had a constant battle with ants in the kitchen and bought our own disinfenctant cleaner. There was only a dried up dirty sponge under the sink in the kitchen to wash dishes with, so we had to buy a sponge. There was no soap in either of the bathrooms to wash our hands. We also had to buy laundry soap to wash our clothes. No barbeque grill was supplied, we managed to grill over rusted grates in a brick fireplace outside. Half of the lightbulbs in the house were burned out, it was poorly lit; but that masked the fact that ALL of the cushions on the couch were severly stained. The big screen TV would have been nice to watch at night, but only half of the screen worked-the other half was a static blur. Despite the fact that there were at least 6 pictures of wine cork screws in the kitchen and a drawer full of wine corks-NO cork screw was supplied. We had to be careful when we opened the dishwasher, due to a broken spring on the door. We refused to use the oven--uck. We had to wipe out the dresser drawers and shelves in the bathrooms before we placed our things on them because they were coverd with a layer of dirt. We have stayed at 6 other VRBO properties, and this one was by far the dirtiest and least supplied of all the houses we have stayed in. We give this 2 stars only because we liked Hana and the area and this house could be a 5 star--IF someone cleaned out ALL the drawers and junk that is in them(ie: broken drawer handles, empty box of playing cards, games with missing pieces) and stocked it with usable items. UPDATE, UPDATE,UPDATE.

February 2014
We stayed here for 5 nights right before Thanksgiving in 2013 with our two boys, ages 9 & 12 - it was a dream come true, after we had just visited Hana for a shorter period two years before. If you want to experience the real Maui and feel like a local, you have to stay in Hana for a while. And Hamoa Beach House is the perfect setting: As soon as you enter the house, you feel like you are in a typical Hawaiian house and that you are coming home. The house is furnished with a very Hawaiian feel (Hawaiian artwork, wooden turtles etc., bamboo furniture) and the kitchen is very well equipped. Almost every room has a beautiful view onto the ocean, that roars so loudly, that you almost think you won't be able to sleep - but it's the opposite, the ocean is calming and the sound is the most meditative sound you could imagine. You can sit on the large porch, overlooking the beautiful backyard and ocean or enjoy the hot tub (our boys were thrilled) after visiting all the places that you wouldn't get to see if you had to drive all the way back to your hotel on the West side of the island within one day. Hamoa Beach, James Michener's favorite beach (and ours too :-)), is just a 2 minute walk down the road and our boys loved playing and bodyboarding in the waves for hours every day. We found everything we needed, such a bodyboards and chairs in the shed/caretaker's house. Everything was in great shape and clean and well-maintained. We ate a lot at the food stands and trucks in Hana, especially recommend the Thai food truck. Someone had previously complained about bugs in the house, but - guess what? You are in a tropical setting and, if you keep crumbs on the countertops etc., you might have a few ants here and there - we have the same problem in our house in Florida. Just keep food packed away and you won't have that problem. We would absolutely recommend this house to our friends and can't wait to return! Also, Suzi was a great landlord and help. She always called back immediately to answer any questions we had and, when we requested more beach towels, we received them immediately. We are in love with Hamoa Beach House and thank the owners very much for sharing it with visitors!
October 2013
Just returned from the most healing and restorative visit to Hana, Maui. We were lucky enough to spend a week in this lovely home with one of the most exquisite locations in Hawaii. This sounds like an exaggeration but it's not - this house sits on the coastal side of the Hana Highway and the living room and bedroom windows face directly east: framing the most beautiful sunrise in America. Each morning we could walk to Hamoa Beach (approximately 6 minutes away by foot) for a swim, a boogie, or a paddle; all the amazing hikes, pools, and falls were minutes away instead of hours. The location of this house allowed us to play pretty much everything by ear which is great when you are on vacation (especially with a group!).
As for the house itself, it's very well maintained. Susie, the caretaker, was kind and easy to interface with before and during our visit. I read a couple of reviews with negative comments about furniture/shower curtains/cleanliness and just have to say that the house was exceptionally clean and any grievances brought to the owners attention have clearly been addressed (and then some!).
Maintaining a house in the jungle on the Pacific must be a lot like painting the Golden Gate Bridge (i.e. never ending!) but this place is in great shape.
Hamoa Beach House really was the foundation for our incredibly special escape to Hana. I can't recommend it enough! And many thanks to Susie for making it all so easy!
September 2013
This property is located in a beautiful setting. With that being said, the house was not clean and it was in dire need of tender, loving care. No air conditioning would be fine if the screens on the doors and windows were in good working order. It was impossible to keep the flies out. The shower curtain was nasty and was covered in mildew and please do not look at the bedding and pillows if you are planning on sleeping on them! This house needs a good deep cleaning especially the kitchen where the counters were so slick with grease that paper towels would actually stick to it. The floors were not clean and required a foot washing before retiring for the night. You could see your footprints in the dust. It is in dire need of some upgrades in bedding (mattresses and pillows), shower curtains, and pots and pans. Also is stated that there is outdoor charcoal grill with supply of charcoal but we had to go into Hana and purchase it as there was none there. But, if you don't mind the above, the setting is beautiful, outdoor space was nice, great hot tub, sound of the ocean and the caretakers were very nice and helpful...Susie and Daniel.
