This is our Maui home, a 4th floor penthouse. We recently put in new furniture, carpet and paint. This condo has been a part of our family since it was new in 1974 and we have carefully remodeled it for maximum comfort and enjoyment. There is a new flat screen (4K, HDR) that will give you convenient access to your Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and other accounts.

The large living area has vaulted ceilings reminiscent of the Hawaiian royalty. We have the most open bathroom areas of any unit in the complex, with built in cabinets and ceiling fans. We have a lighted lanai where we take all our meals and watch the ocean or check out Haleakala crater. We can even watch the whales from there! Kamaole Beach Park III is just across the street, with a wonderful park that has swings and a large grass field for running or flying kites. You can watch the sunset from the Lanai or bring your beverage with you to the beach for an even better view.

When the complex was built, my father, the architect of the complex, had the opportunity to buy any unit he wanted. He chose A-404 as having the best exposure and view, without being right on the street. We believe that, with the remodeling we have done, it is the most comfortable all-around condo there. We have tried to maintain an atmosphere consistent with the islands with our furnishings and artwork.

The master bedroom has direct access to the lanai. It has a king bed, TV, dresser, nightstands and everything you’d expect in your own home. The master bath has plenty of storage and lighting. We even have a rod over the shower/tub to hang snorkel/scuba gear from when washing in the tub.

The second bedroom has a queen bed. The fully remodeled bathroom has more storage, an overhead fan and a shower enclosure. With the Shoji screens stacked to the side, you have a very impressive 'great' room.

The kitchen was completely remodeled in 2021. Ithas all the usual appliances, including the necessary blender for your favorite island drinks. We try to leave the refrigerator stocked with most of the usual condiments you hate to buy for a week or two: mustard, mayo, catsup, salad dressings, etc. Don’t be surprised if someone has left drinks and other non-perishable items for your enjoyment. There is often something in the freezer, too. We encourage you to use them and leave something for the next guests. The condo is “hotel” clean for your arrival and then cleaned up when you leave. We even have a separate filtered water spigot at the sink so you don’t have to buy bottled water!

We have full a sized washer & dryer in the utility closet, along with coolers, beach mats, towels, and everything you need for the beach.

There are three air conditioners, SIX ceiling fans (one in each bedroom, bathroom and kitchen), one large and one small tower fans will keep you comfortable. Try using the fans & opening the windows to get the true island experience.

Enjoy the common pool area, the BBQ with tables and chairs & the covered gazebo at Haleakala Shores.

Walk to restaurants, and shops.

This property was pretty much perfect in every way. The condo was spacious with excellent proximity to beaches, shopping and restaurants. We really appreciated the availability of beach chairs and towels, etc. So convenient to have laundry facilities right in the condo. We were impressed with the variety and selection of pillows! I love a lot of ice in my drinks and really appreciated the ice maker as well. The only drawback was the traffic noise both day and night.

My wife, 17 year-old nephew, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo is very comfortable and had everything we needed. We appreciated that others had left some essentials (a few rolls of toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) and we gratefully returned the favor. Appliances are new and easy to use. The water filter allowed us to reuse our bottles for the whole week. Location is fabulous, right across from Kam III and within walking distance of several shopping centers and restaurants. Overall a wonderful vacation in a lovely condo; we highly recommend.

The condo was clean and well organized allowing us to get into vacation mode upon arrival. Everything was great! The property manager guy at the pool was a bit rude and the neighbours parking was an issue but the condo itself was fantastic !!

This was the third time we stayed in Alan and Barb's condo, and with their beautiful kitchen remodel and new furnishings it was even more lovely than before. It is quite large, has always been clean and well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms, has ample towels and bedding (good variety of pillow types), includes beach towels and a beach umbrella to use, and has enough of some essentials like toilet paper and coffee so you can at least settle in a bit before you head to the store. We loved the new water filter in the kitchen and were able to forego buying cases of water. As their description of the property states, there were condiments, baking supplies and seasonings, and a couple packaged foods (mac-n-cheese, popcorn) left for our use by previous guests. The Hawaiian Moons Natural Food store is about two blocks away and stocks pretty much everything for a quick shopping trip, and there are several big grocery stores within a few miles of the condo as well as a Costco and WalMart close to the airport. Our lifesaver was the 24 hr Safeway by the airport as we arrived on a late night flight. Of course there are many restaurants within a few blocks of the condo, and Beach Street Cafe has great espresso (closest espresso shop we found, maybe three blocks up Kihei Rd). The beach directly across the street is wonderful - nice sand, shallow water for a ways out, has a daytime life guard, decent bathrooms, and a large grassy park with ample shade. The pool was chilly and few folks spent time there, so I can't address the "drill sergeant" of a property manager with whom other guests had an issue. In every regard this is a lovely place to stay for any period of time. We have no reason to look anywhere else the next time we visit Kihei. We know you will enjoy it!

We stayed here for my 50th birthday. Only 3 of us but this place is HUGE! The two bathrooms really helped. The living room was huge also but we never used it. The lanai is the best part of this accommodation. We spent all of our free time out here, planning the days adventures, eating our meals and just relaxing at the end of the day. I would absolutely book this place again. It could easily sleep 6 with the pull out bed. Activity recommendation: sunrise snorkel tour of Molikini crater. We saw fish and even a shark and then they took us to swim with sea turtles. Location is Kihei is great. You could absolutely stay here without a car but we went everywhere so a car was needed.

Loved the location of the property across from the beach, close to shops and in a quieter area. Kitchen was equipped for cooking - the community area even had a BBQ that was excellent. Loved having a pool for kids when the beach and waves were too windy or choppy.

We had a fantastic time in Maui using this condo as our home page. It was very clean, updated and across from the beach. Additionally, all the beach gear we needed as right at our fingertips. Can’t wait to go back!

The apartment and owners were great and accommodating. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable. They had beach chairs, body boards, ice chests and a washer and dryer. The beds were also comfortable which is not always easy to find in these rentals. The kitchen was also updated and the a/c units worked great! The property managers of the facility were the problem. You CAN’T make any type of noise at the pool. Low soft talking only. You CAN’T have any music playing even if it’s low volume and not disruptive. We were excited to stay at a place across from the beach and have a pool. There are also a lot of homeless close by and across the street from the place. The homeless weren’t the issue of the facility but the property managers were.

Great location to walk across the street to the beach. Close to some local restaurants. Easy access without having to go down the main road if you want to skip around and head to Mekena or Turtle town.

Where to begin! This is a beautifully decorated, well stocked condo with a great view! Really enjoyed walking across the street to the beach, yet very little road noise. The beds were comfy and having the beach supplies were awesome! Will definitely book again.

This was my husband and my second time visiting Maui but first time with our 3 teenagers. We looked at a few rentals before landing on this one. This seemed to have the most space and could accommodate a family of five. The place was a little dated but very clean. The carpet seemed newer which was a plus. The bathrooms and bathroom counters were very spacious. Loved that. The only small space in the place was the kitchen, but no big deal. The kids could sprawl out and we all felt like we had our own space. The beach across the street was really nice. We drove all over the island to various beaches but loved the one closest to us. One of the days there was a family of sea turtles just hanging out in the water by the rock outcropping. We spent half the day watching the turtles get tossed around and washed up with each wave. It was pretty cool. One negative about the place was the master bedroom AC wall unit is right outside the balcony by the table. It puts off a good amount of heat, so we didn’t enjoy sitting outside as much, but I’m guessing that could’ve been avoided by just turning the unit off when we were outside. The place has 3 wall units and it got pretty warm inside if they were off. We felt like they did a good job of cooling the place off quickly though. The master bedroom unit was loud but you get used to it. Overall, we were very pleased with this rental. The location and roominess of this place made it a winner in our book!

Love the location and condo. Will definitely stay here again Only minor negative comment (perhaps more related to us) but would have preferred having local cable access especially with what was/is happening in the world.

Loved that we were right across the street from a beach where we could swim with turtles. We also did a number of whale watch out of Maaleea Bay. The accommodations were spacious and there was everything we needed to cook in the unit. We had a great time.

Great location; owner was very responsive to any issues; being from CO, the only thing we had to get used to was the heat; AC was ok for such a large place. Overall would rent again.

We chose this condo because of the price, the size, and the location. It is a little over 1000 sq ft with two large bathrooms, both a king and queen size bed plus a pullout bed in the sofa, very comfy mattresses and bedding, plush towels, and all we needed in the kitchen. And not a single bug anywhere except a few little flies if we left food on the lanai table. We would recommend this condo highly and even looked at several units for sale in the building as we enjoyed the location so much. The lanai is more covered than I had hoped, and the trees and condo next door do block some of the potential view. Still lovely though. It is directly across from Kameole Beach 3 with its beautiful sand, an excellent slope to the beach so the waves break nicely for playing in the water, very good snorkeling in the lava beds to either side, and a large park with both shaded and sunny grass and bathroom facilities. One of the nicest features to the beach area is the trail that takes off to the south and continues for maybe a mile and a half over easily traveled paths, hotel lawn and another expansive beautiful beach. Gorgeous! The condo is very comfortable and could easily house a family with three or even four kids (two on the pull out bed though...). The bed pillows are a bit firm so I was glad I brought along my favorite from home. The kitchen has full sized appliances (including a dishwasher) though is tight on counter space, and as the ceilings are so high the lighting is dim. I brought over a nightstand lamp to put on the bar above the sink and that helped (plus my husband replaced a missing bulb in the overhead fixture). The washing machine is older but works just fine. There are beach chairs, boogie boards, pool noodles, several beach mats, and some beach towels. Really the only thing we missed was not having access to Netflix as the tv wasn't allowing any streaming to be used. The local and cable stations available were okay and we did find a couple movies worth watching on the several nights we stayed in. We didn't miss it much though - we were in Hawaii! There are excellent restaurants/cafes within walking and driving distance, grocery/drug stores all within a few miles, and easy access to the Piilani Hwy which gets you on the main thoroughfare to everywhere else on the island. We loved this condo and would readily stay here again. Thank you, Alan and Barb, for opening your tropical home to the rest of us.

February 2014
We loved staying in this condo at Haleakala Shores. It is on the top floor (there is an elevator) so it has higher ceilings than most of the condos in the complex, making it feel very airy and roomy. We watched for whales with our morning coffee on the lanai and could see just when to run down to the beach for a good sunset. The beach is right across the street and has a very extensive reef for snorkeling. If you bring keikis (kids), you might like to know that it is one of the few beaches on Maui with a lifeguard. We often saw sea turtles when we snorkeled there. And we saw a lot of sea turtles when we walked the trail along the shore, so there's an opportunity to see them even if you don't snorkel. We did a lot of cooking, so we enjoyed having use of the BBQ facilities down by the pool. Besides the BBQ, you'll find shady and sunny spots to relax, tables and chairs, and a covered area with a selection of books. We found the pool area a nice place to sun-bathe, swim, eat or play games...without sand. There's a boat ramp close by, so if you are planning a trip to Molokini (the owners suggested a great trip for us) or chartering a boat, it's very convenient. We walked there. Go south for a beautiful walk or jog to Wailea, or north for local shops and restaurants (including delicious ice cream... we couldn't resist). And for us...no matter what the weather report, we had one beautiful day after another for our whole visit. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay!
