This was our second time at Hanalei Moon Beach Cottage which pretty much says it all! The bungalow was chosen entirely for its location directly on Hanalei Bay and it proved to be more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. The whole experience is reminiscent of a 50s Hawaiian postcard! Yes, I remember :) Cant wait to go back...

This cottage was a perfect getaway for my partner and I. It was beautiful, right on the beach, quiet and close enough to town to bike (which we rented for the week) in for dinner. As we are not cooks and live so rurally that we don’t eat out often, enjoying the many exotic meal options was fun for us.

We decided on Hanalei Bay for our wedding, and the Moon Beach Cottage was the most picture perfect accommodations we could've picked. The house was clean, well equipped, and cooled down quickly after those long beach walks. It was tricky keeping the sand out of the house even with the hose outside, and there was no vacuum or broom (though there is an outdoors broom). The outdoor shower is a must-use, especially during those surprise downpours.Location was spectacular, with an expansive lawn leading to the beach. The way to town is deceptively far, but not unreasonable. The only bump in our stay was we were given the wrong directions to the house, but we had the proper address and lockbox code which was the most important part - Google maps got us there with no trouble.Overall we were thrilled with our experience with this home, and we will absolutely be returning to stay for future anniversaries.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hanalei Moon Beach Cottage! Everything we could need was provided and the cottage was full of character and charm. If you prefer a sterile resort scene, this is not for you but it suited us perfectly- felt like a "home away from home". You can't ask for a better location, on the quiet end of the most beautiful beach- perfect for a sunrise walk to the pier (about 2 miles rt) and an afternoon float. Great neighborhood, very convenient to shops & restaurants but also quiet and tucked away on a dead-end street. Beginning to end, our communication with Beach & Bluff Realty was excellent and we enjoyed every minute of our stay here.

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy cottage on Hanalei Bay with a view of the bay through beautiful trees--it was hard to pull ourselves away. It had everything we needed--the outdoor shower is so convenient and there are lots of books to read if it rains. The cottage is on a lawn shared with several other rentals so we got to know our fellow visitors!

My husband planned this heavenly trip for my birthday. It was everything we were hoping for, and more. From the "welcome basket" with many goodies, to the beautiful views out our front window (better in person), to the amazing covered porch to sit during the occasional showers, and of course the best part, the mere steps to the beach. We experienced a well stocked home with everything you might need and a comfortable king bed. Everything you could hope for. We had an amazing time. Thank you!

An absolutely magical place that I would highly reccomend and can't wait to return to. The house was very sweet and homey. We were able to comfortably cook many meals in the house. We spent every day just reading and relaxing at the beach, which is basically only separated from the house by a large lawn. You can see the ocean from your living room window and we woke up to the sound of crashing waves and beautiful sunrises every morning. Absolutely idylic. We will be back.

The location of the moon beach cottage is perfect, you’re literally steps from the sand. The cottage is small but works well for two people. The AC is nice to have on hot days. It’s also on the quieter end of the bay which is nice. We had a fantastic stay.

We had a lovely stay at the Hanalei Moon cottage. It’s located at the western end of Hanalei Beach, on a large lawn which is shared with several other houses. The house is set well back from the beach, but the view across the lawn is pretty, and we enjoyed the easy access from the street.
The cottage was well appointed, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was small but adequate for light cooking, and included an unvented gas range. We limited our cooking to breakfast items and using the microwave.
There is a charcoal grill with charcoal provided. The washer and dryer worked well, though they are located outside under the overhanging eave. There is a large, outdoor shower, on a deck next to the house, and it is screened for privacy. I used that shower, daily, during our stay. There is an air conditioning unit, located in the dining / sitting area, which works well to cool the house in the evening.

This quaint bungalow was so perfect for me and my husband! Seconds walk to Hanalei Bay Beach with access to beach coolers, beach chairs and towels! Fully equipped kitchen made it easy t make breakfast every morning. Bed was very comfortable and option for open air or AC was nice! We are already trying to plan our next stay here!

The location is perfect, close to Hanalei, just steps from the beach, ocean view, nice little lanai, and nice outdoor shower (never used the indoor shower). The hosts were very friendly, we loved the cottage and would gladly stay there again.

This is a very cute cottage right on the beach. It is not fancy, but it has the basics and it was a safe and convenient place for me and my two daughters to explore the town of Hanalei. We could walk to the shops for the cottage. There was a lovely outdoor shower, laundry, beach chairs and a fully functional kitchen. We had a wonderful stay!

From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were totally thrilled with Moon Cottage. Everything we could possibly need was there and the cottage was clean and well organized. We loved the location and the town. We felt totally relaxed and totally comfortable. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend this rental is because we want it available for our next stay🥰. Hanalei has always been our favorite town to return to on Kauai, and what better place is there to stay than right on the beach! This cottage had everything we needed. Not only was it perfect for dipping into the ocean on a moments notice, but it was super convenient for a quick trip to the grocery store or walking to the bar (so no worrying about drinking and driving). My husband loves to cook and this kitchen had the main essentials for him to whip up something delicious just about everyday.
We really couldn't have been happier with all the house had to offer. There were plenty of towels for a 9 day trip, an outdoor shower with hot water, AC (that we only used once), and a laundry unit that we thought about using (but never did, lol). Also, the patio table was perfect for breakfast and lunch-- even on a rainy day. And for days that you just want to lounge in front of the TV, you can cast all your favorite streaming apps from your phone.
If you want the perfect place to call home on Kauai, stay here! Just bring lots of bug repellent, remember to close the windows and doors at night, and turn off the lights when no longer needed. :)
A big thank you to our hosts for making our elopement trip all the more romantic and dreamy. We loved every bit of it, and are happy to say our first meal as husband and wife was shared right on the patio of the Hanalei Beach Moon Cottage. ♡

We tried slow and loved it! From the moment we arrived in Hanalei everything felt right. And the cottage was just perfect for us. The views were awesome and so was the beach, which was a short stroll across the lawn. Also loved the outdoor shower, covered lanai and well-appointed kitchen. We can’t wait to go back.

Perfect place, more than adequate. On the sea shore in the sun, or shade as you wish and only a two minute walk. (maybe 100 yds?). We enjoyed it so very much. All essentials are there for use, and we were quite comfortable. I sure do hope we can make it happen to visit again. Also - enjoyed the squadron of chickens who came to visit. Melodic (sort of) and vibrantly colorful. The birds seemed to like us too.

This was our third time staying in Moon Beach Cottage (and last year we stayed at another one their properties) and it really is a little slice of heaven. The cottage is situated right on Hanalei Bay, with ocean views right outside your living room window. We took walks on the beach every morning and BBQ'd on the last at night several times. Just the most relaxing vacation!

This is the second April week we spent at this spot. Different weather, different sights - equally wonderful. We wanted quiet and privacy and views and that is exactly what we got. We love this cottage as a base for exploring the island. Everything you need is there. We highly recommend the property.

Our stay here was quite happy despite mostly rainy weather. The proximity to the beach is sensational. There are three other cottages on the property but it still felt very private. We enjoyed the outdoor shower and beach equipment. Overall the cottage was clean, comfortable and well supplied. Two improvements we would have appreciated would have been a better coffee maker (more than two cups) and a propane barbecue. But overall this is a very special location which we feel fortunate to have enjoyed.

This was a perfect little beach house. The view is straight out to the ocean. It's walking distance to town where there are several restaurants but we found the fish market and ate in instead since the restaurants didn't have as good a view as the cottage.

My husband and I stayed at the Hanalei Moon Beach Cottage over Thanksgiving, and we couldn't have asked for a better location. The cottage is the perfect size for two people, and the living room has an amazing view of the ocean. It literally takes about 30 seconds to get to the beach - just walk across the grass, and you're there! The cottage itself is not terribly modern, but everything is clean and works well; we had no complaints about anything. Hanalei's shops and restaurants are about a mile away - it would've been nice to be a little bit closer, but the walk is only 15-20 minutes, and given the choice of being closer to the town or the beach, I'd rather have the beach. Overall, we had a great stay, and we'd like to return to the cottage in the future.

This place has an unbeatable location. The views at the house are incredible (beach in front, mountains at your back) and having one of the best beaches right in front is an amazing experience. It was extremely relaxing getting to fall asleep to the waves crashing on the beach. We were greeted with a welcome basket as well, which was a nice touch. The house was clean and the photos represent the house fairly well. My husband and I came for our honeymoon and it is the perfect place for this type of trip.
The location, despite being in the northern section if the island, is still relatively convenient to everywhere (within one to a little over two hours. Note that traffic north of the airport can be bad at certain times of day. There is enough to see and do close to the cottage that you don't necessarily need to travel far to do great activities.
Not that it really impacted our stay, but there were a few negatives I wanted to mention since all other reviews were extremely positive. I can't rate the place higher since the house was not well stocked for us. No extra rolls of toilet paper, paper towels, barely any cleaner in kitchen for wiping counters, minimal laundry detergent to name a few was disappointing given the cost and what I would have expected for an extended stay (and amenities described with the house). It almost felt like the owner was banking on the visitors resupplying the house during their stay, which as I mentioned before was not gratifying. Other cons are no air conditioning (it got hot during daytime hours) and no dishwasher (which I think is a must to ensure dishes are fully clean/sanitized between visitors). The house is also right next to a couple other homes, so it is not as private as you might expect from the photos, especially since windows have to be open all the time.
We had a great visit and I wouldn't say these things are enough for me to not recommend this place, but wanted to bring them up so others can compare this more accurately to other rentals.

Beautiful location right on Hanalei Bay, with gentle summer waves and a soft sandy beach - perfect for families. Learn to surf just steps from your door or sit and gaze at the beauty from the deck. You can't ask be a better location. The house itself is well kept and well positioned to capture the beach breezes. The owners are very responsive if anything should happen to go wrong and want your experience to be perfect. You can walk to town or jump in the car for world-class snorkeling at Tunnels and Ke'e beaches, just minutes down the road.

Beautiful house and location in Hanalei, in our eyes it cannot be beat! Very convenient, very efficient, so many things to do just outside your doorstep! The house suited us perfect, as it was just 2 of us - we went to the grocery store on the way in, and stayed there for a majority of our time - minus a few trips down the street to restaurants/bars, hiking The Napali, and visiting a few other beaches....the perfect setting with a gorgeous yard stretching to the sand....it just doesn't get any better!!

Hanalei Moon Beach Cottage was perfect! The location was great, right on the beach on the quiet end of Hanalei Bay, and within walking distance to Hanalei Town. We LOVED having an outdoor shower and a tankless water heater. The cottage was clean and quiet, and we loved being able to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. In addition, Suzanne and Terri were great to work with. We miss the cottage and Hanalei already and can't wait to come back.
