This is a spacious unit on the first floor of a 2 story house. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed. It is a short walk to both numerous restaurants and the Hanalei Bay's beach. The only issue is that without AC, one has to open all of the windows for air flow and cooling. With the windows open, noisy neighbors were heard into the night. There are also the ubiquitous chickens that crow at all hours.

Devaki and Jason were wonderful hosts, helpful and friendly. The place was spacious and clean, and perfectly situated right around the corner from the beach. We used it as a homebase for much beach time, great food in town, and then, jumping off spot to go to other beaches around the island, and of course, Waimea canyon! I have been to Hanalei many times, but my partner had not, and it was a great introduction to the charm of the area. We will visit again!

This private, quiet rental is just around the corner from the beautiful Hanalei beach and a short walk to the shops, markets and restaurants of Hanalei. Large windows in the studio apartment showcase beautiful mountains and tropical foliage. Devaki has thought of everything to maximize vacation enjoyment--toiletries, in-unit laundry, beach chairs & towels, coolers, and an adequate kitchen for simple meals. We returned to the Midwest relaxed and recharged. Will definitely be our go to when we return to Kauai. Thank you!

My husband and I love Hanalei. This unit has the perfect location, a 2 minute walk to the beach and 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. Unit was stocked with everything we needed. Devaki was a wonderful host and very responsive. Totally recommend!

This unit was very nice; clean and well appointed. The only complaint we have was that there was a bothersome ant problem in the kitchen…we couldn’t leave anything out on the counters! It appeared that the ants had made their home behind the kitchen backsplash…very annoying

This rental is a studio unit - with a separate entrance - on the bottom floor of a two story house. It was clean with everything you would need (towels, beach chairs etc). Easy walk into town or the beach. Decor is not updated or upscale. The pictures are pretty accurate - older wood furniture and wall-to-wall pinkish carpet. To me, it was not a cottage and not romantic -- and not where I'd want to stay for my honeymoon. But it was clean and functional. The host made a nice effort to help us with an ant problem.

For us, it was all about the location. Walking distance to everything! The studio is large with plenty of space for 2. We thought we would miss not having an ocean view but the amazing view of the mountains and waterfalls more than made up for it! We used the beach gear, bbq, and outdoor shower every day we were there. Thanks to our wonderful hostess for making us feel so welcome!

Devaki is super friendly and communication is super fast and attentive. The property is great!! Quick walk to hanalei restaurants and shops and an even quicker walk to the beach! I loved the outdoor showers. Most places on the island dont have AC but Devaki has supplied ample fans which do the trick. There's gorgeous views of the mountains from the bed side windows. This is the perfect place for couples enjoying some laid back time on the north side of the island!

location is very convenient and wonderful! the walk to the town is easy, maybe 5 minutes. Beach walk even leas. you do have beach chairs and umbrella as well as coolers to take with you. the home is clean, comfy and serene. please note this home is all one big room which we were not aware of when booking. worked ok for us though if you have someone sleeping in the bedroom it's all the same room if you go that the kitchen of living.
the host and renters in home attached are all friendly and gracious.

The condo is in a perfect location...a 2-minute walk to a gorgeous beach and a 3-minute walk into the charming town of Hanalei. You would not need a car for this vacation. We just spent one of the best weeks of our lives in this large studio bungalow about 1 block from beach access and an easy walk right up Aku Rd to all the restaurants and shops.
Kept all the windows open because we love hearing the rain and the trade winds flow through the house. Davaki also has 3 multi speed oscillating fans if you want it cooler or move the air.
The studio looks exactly like the picture. Great hot outdoor shower, hose for feet, 2 nice beach chairs and umbrella. Full size fridge, washer/dryer. We hope to book again it was so fantastic as is the owner Davaki. If you have a question about anything she’s super responsive.

My husband Bob and I love Hanalei Bay and consider it our Happy Place, having come here since 1976... We live in California and love the beach and sand between our toes.
Devaki's cottage is perfect for the two of us and there is everything you need to enjoy your stay.
3 minute walk to the most beautiful pristine beach in the world and only minutes walk into the town of historic Hanalei... Devaki is incredible & very helpful in suggestions and we enjoyed forming a friendship that will last a lifetime.

Clean, bright, airy, spacious home. 1 block from Hanalei Beach- the best beach in the area. Park your car and walk to the beach, or into town to shop, or eat at one of the numerous restaurants. Beautiful mountain views in one direction and ocean views in the other. Ceiling fans throughout, large kitchen, great wifi, walk-in shower, large BR counter space, hairdryer, stacked washer/dryer, outdoor shower to rinse after the beach. beach chairs, beach towels. even bug spray and Hawaiian music in the CD player! We were worried about no AC as it was unseasonably hot for March but the nights cooled off a few degrees more than the rest of the island/and other islands, and there’s a constant nice breeze. My husband is always hot and we were comfortable with the fans. If I had to do it over again I would have stayed our entire Kauai stay here rather than spending 1/2 the time north and 1/2 in Poipu. The island’s small enough to easily drive to the canyon from the north (2 hrs end to end) and the landscape and beaches I found to be more awe-inspiring in the North. We like simple things and this property is an excellent example of that. The unIt's located essentially across the street from the Hanalei Beach, and about a 5 minute stroll to Hanalei town's restaurants and shops. The owner keeps the unit very clean and the bed is very comfortable. The large kitchen is well supplied with utensils and cooking gear. The bathroom is also large and there are plenty of towels. We liked the bed too. Firm, but comfy. The only downside to the place is that the sofa and chairs just weren't comfortable to sit on for watching tv/movies. Our hostess was very kind and helpful without being intrusive. We loved our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend this listing to other couples.

I highly recommend this property to anyone who is visiting Kauai. The room was very spacious and clean. It is located in a safe neighborhood and is easy to find and access. It is equipped with all the kitchen utensils needed to prepare your own meals. The property manager was friendly but not intrusive. She stocked the room with everything one might need for a trip to the beach. All that being said, the location of the property was the highlight for us. You can literally hear the ocean from the room and the beach is only a very short walk away. The property is located in a residential neighborhood, but if you walk about a block to the end of the street, there is a shopping center with restaurants, gifts shops, and a grocery store. Hanalei and this location were the highlight of our vacation to Kauai. Both my wife and I are looking foreward to returning sometime soon.

Listing is unclear! Sounds like a separate house but turned out to be downstairs w/ the owner living upstairs and another guy living somewhere in the house. We really wanted privacy but didn’t feel that. We had a designated parking spot and got blocked in early one morning when we were going on a cruise. We were panicked because we couldn’t wake anyone to get an overnight guest out to move her truck. No apologies from the owner. Besides that, too many rules about leaving lights on, windows open while gone, etc.

Arrived and was welcomed by Devaki, owner who lives above the vrbo level of the property. Open space flat w plenty of light, quiet w super nice view of green hills to north of town.Devaki was most helpful, location perfect for proximity to beach, town. Rained a bunch, so outdoor sitting wasn't a thing. Limahui Botannical gardens were beautiful w plenty of beaches on the way there to explore. Restaurant Ama and the Dolphin great, make rez days in advance.

My wife and I were excited to stay in a private honeymoon cottage. The listing states “this is NOT a condo”. Well, the landlord lives above you and there are multiple units on the property. We still enjoyed our time in Hanalei. The location is great for beach and town. The unit is charming and unique with great views of the mountains. The bugs inside were overwhelming at times and should be mitigated.

The rental was just as described online.
It was very clean and cozy and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The cottage had everything we needed. The host was super friendly. We will definitely be back to stay here again.

This spot was perfect for us for a 4 day stay. We have been to The Hanalei area 3 other times but this was the first time was stayed in town. We liked the convenience of walking to restaurants and shops (5 minutes) and the beach (3 minutes.). There is no view of the beach but you can hear the waves. We loved having the windows open for the fresh air. This is a quiet neighborhood so noise isn't an issue. We used the grill and stove and laundry facilities, which were much appreciated. The bed is also comfortable!
Devaki is a sweet and thoughtful hostess. We snorkeled at Anini beach and saw three turtles! We also went to Tunnels beach, amazing views! Plus other beach hikes such as Sealodge, Hideaways and Secret beach. Mahalo!

Devaki was very open with communication and made the check in process a breeze (was even ready for us a little early)! The house is very convenient to the beach and many shops/restaurants and the mountain views from the room were amazing. The kitchen was fully stocked with what we needed to prepare dinner, and the in unit laundry was convenient isn't following our muddy hiking! Overall great stay, highly recommend!

We booked a long weekend in this wonderful rental apartment to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. The location is ideal — a short walk to the beach in one direction, and to all of the shops and restaurants of Hanalei in the other. The property itself was quiet and private, and the studio was bigger and brighter than I expected with magnificent views towards the mountains. Surrounded by lush greenery and birdsong, it almost felt like a treehouse. Devaki was also a fantastic host. Immediately responsive and helpful. When we arrived the studio was spotless and thoughtfully set-up with gentle Hawaiian music playing. Other pros: full kitchen (although we just walked down the street to eat out every night), full laundry (came in handy after a muddy hike on the Napali coast), fast wi-fi and a closet full of beach-going gear. The only minor drawbacks were that the fixtures do show some signs of age, and we found the mattress to be on the soft side, but the cleanliness, peacefulness and convenience of the location more than made up for it. We hope to return someday.

You really can't beat this location - a super short walk down the road to the beach or up the road to downtown Hanalei... We only used our car once during our whole stay (5 nights) and that was to get to Haena State Park. The property itself is cool - big open windows in the studio mean you wake up to views of the mountains and lots of lush trees. A dual outdoor shower means you never have to shower inside if you don't want to (we didn't). Devaki (the host) is very kind, responsive, and helpful if you need it. I would certainly recommend staying here, though I think it's worth noting that the place has seen a bit of wear and tear. If you are looking for a place that is pristine, updated, and super high end this may not be the place. My husband and I stayed on our honeymoon and while we were very happy due to the location and kind host, I think it's worth noting to other honeymooners that it is not one of the more high end or well-kept rentals we've stayed in - for example, the outdoor shower could have used a little cleaning TLC before our stay, and the carpet may have seen better days. With all that said, as long as you are not looking for extreme luxury, this is a great spot to stay in Hanalei.

Staying in Hanalei is a bit like heaven on earth. This rental location was close to the beach and town while also being quiet. Owner was very helpful and easily accessible while not being intrusive. If you need to have WiFi you should know that the the reception at this rental is very slow. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars was because the rental is a bit outdated and could use new flooring. We loved our stay.

My husband and I stayed at Devaki’s studio for about 9 days. The studio is on the bottom floor, with a dedicated parking spot and a private garden patio with a grill. The home came with all the beach necessities, including chairs, umbrellas, towels, and coolers. The location is absolutely perfect - a 3 minute walk to the beach one way, and a 3 minute walk to the town in the opposite direction. Due to the landslide and road closures, it is harder to get around the island from Hanalei, but we enjoyed staying on the north shore during the majority of our stay. We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We had such a lovely time staying here. The location is truly unbeatable--two blocks to town, one block to the beach. Devaki is super communicative and helpful, and the property itself is super lovely. I was a little nervous about the shared property element of it (it's the bottom floor of a two-story property) and the lack of A/C, but is very private (totally separate entrance/lanai/etc.) and feels like you are in your own little oasis, and there are a ton of fans that make it extremely comfortable. Highly recommend renting a surfboard or kayak for the week if you want to casually adventure on the beach. Thank you so much Devaki for the amazing time, we can't wait to come back!

The house is across the street from instant beach access and a short walk to all of the dining and shops in Hanalei. She let us know exactly when the room was ready and met us when we arrived to show us around the place and tell us about the area. Can’t imagine a better location or host.
