'This Kekaha estate was featured in the book 'the Hawaiian House now', and was one of only two houses from Kauai in the book published in 2007. 'Hawaii still lives in Kekaha' said Gail Miller of the sleepy West Kauai town she lived in since 1998, when this publicized and well known designer purchased this Sugar Mill Manager's home. Originally built in 1933, it was purchased by Miller after she first saw this beach side house. It was the original features, many of which were preserved during the extensive renovation, that attracted her to this house. Rich Douglas fir floors, gracious archways, ceilings fabricated from sugar cane, and large rooms that opened onto the outdoors provided the ingredients to create and preserve a piece of rich Hawaiian heritage. 'Neutral colors have been used to highlight the beauty of the outdoor ocean setting,' she said in describing the interior finishes. 'Surfers and tourists line the shore to watch the sun drop into the western horizon at an hour that used to bustle with workers returning from the fields to their homes here in Kekaha.

The OCEANFRONT ESTATE SIZE LOT offers privacy and a front row seat to the surfers at Davidson's Surf Break and the AMAZING SUNSETS each night over the mysterious island of Ni'ihau in the distance.

In recent years, a 14x28 PRIVATE HEATED SALT WATER POOL was added . This is NOT SHARED WITH ANOTHER PROPERTY and it is situated in the privacy of the large rear yard, dotted with mango trees and banana. The covered back lanai has easy access to the pool area.
You will find that you will have to force yourself to go out and explore the beauty of the island. It will be tempting to just stay and vacation at your house with the pool, the covered outdoor lanai areas, and awesome views of the sunset over the ocean.

There are two oceanfront primary bedrooms with king four poster mahogany beds, and french doors opening onto one of the three covered lanais. 'It's just gracious and very relaxing with the sound of the waves pounding away, lulling you to sleep with the perfume of plumeria wafting in the windows. From the lanai, you can see the whales passing by during the winter months, at the end of their long migration from Alaska. There are two additional guest bedrooms, offering sleeping for up to 8 guests comfortably in style. The kitchen is just what the cook ordered..... making it a pleasure to prepare for an impromptu beach party, or an evening of dining on your own lanai, or in the formal dining room. There is an airy butler's pantry offering an air of elegance.

This is not just a vacation home, but it is a VACATION EXPERIENCE. Here you will feel the Old Hawaii of years past, and live a period of history that has gradually disappeared. Through her determination to keep the architectural tradition alive, Miller created a beachside masterpiece, complete with the modern amenities one expects today without sacrificing it's character and charm. It can be summed up by saying that this is an example of 'BEACH HOUSE CHIC'.

This unique home can be experienced for days or weeks, and you will always feel that there just wasn't enough time!

We loved this house! The plantation house is so special and the pool with all the outside lanai space made us not want to leave the property. We are already planning our vacation back to the beautiful island of Kauai....can't wait to bring our friends next year. As I told the manager, we are changing our current plans to go to New Zealand to come back to Hawaii instead in 2025.

We celebrated a family birthday with our whole family in this lovely home. The pool was delightful and location was close to excursions and delicious restaurants as well as a Friday night street art fair. We would stay again with bells on!

We booked this vacation in 2020 but due to Covid restrictions, we were unable to go. We finally got everyone available to book it again 4 years later. We loved our rental house. There were so many comfortable areas to hang out as a family of 7 or sneak away to read or watch the sunrise or sunset. The pool area was great, and we all want an outdoor shower back home. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. There was plenty of space for 7 adults. Truly the perfect vacation spot! We would highly recommend this house.

We took a trip with my parents (in their 70s) and family. The house was perfect. Multiple patios and sitting areas. The interior and exterior are beautifully furnished. Outdoor shower was a hit. Bedrooms were big and comfy, AC if you needed it. The pool was warm and was a great place to hangout. Beach chairs and towels for everyone! The property manager and owner were great and made the trip very special. Highly recommend staying here.

This property was perfect for our group. The four bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs suited our two families perfectly. We loved watching the sunset from the top lanai every evening. The home is beautiful and full of character. I’d go back anytime. We had everything we needed to cook in and bbq every night. The pool was a hit with all. And we were happy there were some pool toys provided. Location was great! Close to town for groceries/shopping. Some road noise but it didn't bother us at all. We loved going for runs and walks along the main road/beach. Highly recommend this property!

One of the easiest, most pleasant VRBO experiences available. The home is incredibly gorgeous with so much history. Easy to find from airport at night, all the amenities we could ever need. Some prior reviews mentioned neighbor/pool/AC warnings and complaints. We never had an issue with any of the requests as they are common sensical. The pool and lanai area is appropriately private and comfortable, and having a host remind renters of being respectful to the non-touristy, local neighborhood was absolutely reasonable. Don’t hesitate to book this property- you won’t regret it!

This property is simply amazing. These home owners are a very generous family that really understand how to make this an experience for you. This home is a very large property with a sunset you will never forget. It's a quieter side of the island but one where you can have a ton of time with your family and then do day trips to busier sides of the island. We enjoyed every minute on this property and we hope we are invited back!!!!!

This modernized farm house has tons of space; the property was amazing and private for our family gathering of six. We loved to watch the sunset from the house or easily walk across the street to the ocean for the perfect viewing. Because it's on the west side of the island we ended up driving more but it was worth it as we ended our days there in the pool. My only complaint was I thought the kitchen had an off-putting smell to it but that would not stop me from renting it again.

House is beautiful, pool is great, views are incredible. Road in front is busy and goes all night, didn't really bother us. Front yard is large. Ocean view is incredible. The area is very quiet, and the house is a short drive to the grocery store. This area is definitely a little further away from the touristy part of the island which we enjoyed.

This was our third trip to this house in the last 8 years and always have a great time! It is so relaxing and plenty of space for everyone! Scott is excellent at providing information for the home and responds very fast with questions. We will be coming back again to enjoy the house!

We absolutely LOVED our stay in this classic plantation house, beautifully designed with amazing views of the ocean. I actually thought the house was closer to Poipu when I booked it and didn't know much about Waimea, but we ended up loving the location. Hanapepe is nearby for fantastic food and a great vintage shop and the more touristy areas in Poipu are close by. We also loved hiking in Waimea canyon. This is a really special home. (It's not updated so if you are looking for modern bathrooms and showers, this is not for you.). Our only regret is that we didn't have more time there!

Our extended family of 7 enjoyed having so much space, and being able to see the ocean from the lanai, hear the waves, and watch the sunset every evening. The outdoor shower was our favorite feature of the house! It’s a historic home with the expected creaky floors and small signs of its age, but we loved imagining all the families who had stayed there before us over the past century! It was hot outside during our stay (record high temperatures maybe?) and the kitchen got really hot while cooking (using the grill was preferred), but other than that we found the breezes and fans kept it comfortable throughout, and the bedroom AC was awesome. The traffic noise from the road was loud at times, but we felt that was a suitable compromise for being oceanfront; the highway runs along the ocean for much of area near Kekaha. We loved being on the west side, sheltered from much of the tourist activity on Kauai (even in mid-July). As mentioned in previous reviews, the neighbors house (and back door) are very close to the pool, but we didn’t see or hear from them the whole time - even though they were home. So using the pool felt quite pleasant and private for us. The gas range in the kitchen works but is a little finicky, band it has a weird lighting issue that probably need to be addressed soon for safety (will send detailed message to property manager about that).

We had such a wonderful time! The house was perfect in every way! Having our morning coffee on the upper lanai, walking across the street for the sunset & lounging by the pool…everything was perfect! We will be back!

The property is gorgeous! It’s spacious and beautifully decorated. The grounds are well kept. It’s a true classic Hawaiian treasure. We had a concern with the stove smelling of gas and called the contact who immediately picked up and handled the situation. Over all it was fantastic!

Fantastic historic plantation on the sunny west side. Beautifully restored and furnished. There are so many comfortable places to relax and enjoy your time with family, including hammocks on the upstairs lanai. Everyone enjoyed cooking in the well appointed kitchen and outside gas grill. The pool was a favorite of everyone from grandparents to our 8 month old. The outdoor shower was the best. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a great place for family to gather.

We enjoyed our stay and absolutely loved the location to explore Kauai. The private pool was wonderful and the ocean views were stunning. We enjoyed the extensive outdoor space for relaxing and entertaining. The property manager was very responsive and check in process was easy. This is an older home that has a lot of character and was tastefully decorated. Mahalo for a wonderful stay and week in paradise with family.

May 2023
The house was perfect. Enjoyed the large house, seating areas, lanais and pool all as offered. Chairs and umbrellas and cooler were great for our beach days. Beds were comfortable and we all enjoyed this house very much! Hope to be able to come back one day . Book it! You won’t regret it!

Cannot say enough good things about this home and the incredible property. It is the ideal place for relaxation and play. The fully outfitted outfitted, the perfect temp in the backyard pool, the luscious landscaping, the lanais with softly whirring fans, the ocean views -- it's enough to make you never want to leave! Will definitely be back!

We loved our time here! The house is beautiful, breathtaking views from all the lanai’s, clean and spacious home, pool was amazing! There was everything we needed for our stay and communication with owners was excellent. We had an incredible family vacation and felt like we were at our own resort!! Loved it! Thank you so much!

Great plantation house on the quiet and drier side of the island. Beautiful sunset ocean views. The house was very clean. Plenty of outdoor living space to enjoy the mornings and evenings. One of the best properties we have stayed at. We plan on returning in the future!!!

I loved this spacious house! Full front ocean view from two levels - fabulous! There are multiple gathering places in the house and on all three lanais, all with comfortable furniture. The heated pool is a real gem. Located outside under a plumeria tree was everyone's favorite shower. The highway along the beach is quite busy 24/7, but after a day or two I got used to it. The backyard blocks out much of the traffic noise and is a nice place to read, sunbathe, swim, and enjoy a meal.

Me and my family walked into this home with wide eyes and smiles. This property was an absolute joy! Big enough so that 6 of us could spread out and have our own quiet time. Furnished magnificently. The lanai’s brought so much sunset joy. The star gazing from the front lawn was crazy. The kitchen was complete with everything we needed and more. Highly recommended! We will never forget it.

This home has a lot of character and history. With this comes a misguided description of what is lacking in this home. With the age of the construction of this home, you can hear everything happening in other parts. This was fine with us because it was only my husband, our 4 year old daughter, my mom and myself. If you had a larger party staying and wanted quiet moments from your other friends or family this could become difficult. There is only air conditioning in the bedrooms. This is completely misrepresented in the description. This is difficult when cooking or in other parts of the home since it was very hot when we were staying here. They have many signs that state to only use the air conditioning when sleeping and at no other point of the stay. This completely disrupted my moms working vacation because there was no cool place for her to sit and work during the day in the home. We received an email from the property manager making it very clear that he understood the tone of his email but we couldn’t have anyone at the home that wasn’t originally listed at any part of the day without his permission. I’m going to assume they have had issues with guests in the past but this should have been stated before our reservation was excepted along with this home having strict quiet hours of 8 pm- 8 am and to talk quiet in the home during these hours as well. This email was very disappointing and felt like a clear after we are booked restrictions. The pool is extremely close to the neighbors home, and it is clear she has issues with use of guests using the pool. We were swimming with our daughter and she came out of her home talking loud to another person about us using it at 6 pm. We immediately got out of the pool because we were so uncomfortable. This homes view is unbelievably beautiful and the porches are epic. The furniture is extremely comfortable as well. The road noise…is ridiculously loud! This completely took away from the relaxing sound of the ocean. We caught many baby lizards in the kitchen and on the last night a cockroach all that we returned to the outdoors, so don’t be surprised if you find surprises as well. Overall the beds are comfortable, the kitchen has everything you need to cook, the decor of the home is beautiful, the pool is warm and fun, there are plenty of towels, the beach toys and chairs are amazing. I don’t think we will ever stay at this home again, but appreciate the history of it.

We loved this house! The views are amazing. We really enjoyed the outdoor living. There is plenty of room for everyone. The pool is awesome. The kitchen had everything you need. This was by far the best VRBO we have ever rented and that says a lot since we travel frequently. The plantation style house was so neat. The pool was really nice to use when it was hot and we didn’t want to go to the beach. There is a mango tree in the yard and we enjoyed the fresh mangos daily. We got very creative with mango recipes. If you’re a party group, this is not the place for you. The neighbors are picky about the noise levels. We basically lived on the porches. The fans outside are a nice touch. Our group of 8 did not want to leave. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your amazing house.

Great home for our family vacation! Celebrated our parents 56th anniversary and mother's day. Home was as advertised. We used every part of this home - played games at the dining room table, enjoyed morning coffee on the front lanai, read & talked on the back lanai, watched tv and enjoyed sunsets o upper lanai. Weather was great everyday, so having only a/c in the bedrooms was fine. We never used the a/c in our room.....we loved sleeping with the doors open listening to ocean. There was traffic but nothing we aren't used to being from Vegas / L.A. The ocean waves pretty much drowned out the traffic....with exception of some loud vehicles/radios. The pool is fabulous and we used it everyday! Here's a few suggestions we have: The cleaners could do a better job. There were still some spider webs inside, fridge could have been wiped down inside/out (although there was a note to make sure the fridge doors were closed, it really should be replaced), the bbq was pretty old/dirty & had a broken heating element and should be replaced and the oven needs to be cleaned. More toilet paper/paper towels should be provided for 7 people/11 days. Overall experience was great though and would love to stay again sometime. Definitely recommend.

We stayed at this property last year and loved it, so ... we came back. We had another great visit. This is not a resort property, it is a genuine Hawaiian house which is one reason we like it. It is classic and well-furnished. You can almost feel the history here. The kids (and some adults) loved the pool. The mango tree kept us supplied with fresh fruit (dropping mangos every day). Easy access to a lot of fun spots on the south island. Property manager was always very responsive and easy to work with.

Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful and comfortable furniture in all spaces ( inside and out). Master suites were amazing. Mattresses very comfortable and clean. Great view. Pool was perfect addition to the property. Delicious mangoes and beautiful plantings surrounded house. Traffic could be loud but otherwise very private and conducive to relaxation

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was beautiful and comfortable. The view off the veranda is amazing. The pool was very clean and fun. The beds were comfortable and the A/C worked well although it was only needed in the evening. Kekaha beach down the road had miles of sand and almost no people. The local town Waimea had everything we needed for our stay. The communication was always responsive and friendly. We had a great time.

Wonderful and charming home across from the beach. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The home is well furnished, supplied and clean. All the amenities and more are provided. The pool provided memorable entertainment for our family and grandson. We will be coming back not soon enough. Mahalo.

March 2022
We stayed at this home for ten nights during Feb 2022. The house was not accurate to the description online and I would strongly caution anyone considering staying here. We had maintenance on the property for at least 6/10 days attempting to fix all of the issues. 1) Upon arrival we noticed five 360 cameras placed along the outside house pillars. Many of which were a few feet from bedroom windows and the pool. We felt incredibly uncomfortable as cameras were not listed on the VRBO house description. My 11 year old went to bed the first night crying and referred to the house as “scary” and “sketchy”. We complained to VRBO the next morning. The property manager called us, but he was extremely rude and told our family we should not have called VRBO and that if I left a bad review on this house he would respond that I was “unreasonable”. Long story short, we were completely within our rights to call VRBO as they offer a customer service and complaint hotline. In addition, undisclosed cameras are clearly against the VRBO policies. The cameras were taken down on our 2nd day, but the first two days we basically shot by the fact that we hated being there, could not enjoy the home, and had to deal with a maintenance person removing cameras. 2) The pool heater and filter didn’t work for the first 6 days. There were nice attempts made to keep the pool clean by the property manager, but the outdoor shower was only cold water and the pool wasn’t pleasant for older members of our party. We had an electrician on the property two days and pool cleaner three days disrupting our privacy. 3) This house is full of character, but has an appearance of neglect. The floors in the kitchen were not clean upon arrival and the 2nd bathroom upstairs is full of moldy grout and the tub clogged constantly. The walls throughout the home are in need of paint as they are peeling and dirty. 4) The house felt unsafe. Original windows (almost 100 years old) often would not open or nearly fell out at opening. There was one smoke detector for the entire home which we felt was not enough. There wasn’t even a smoke detector in the kitchen. 5) The road is noisy and our parents who stayed with us did not get good sleep the entire stay. We did love the view and size of the yard/outdoor space. In addition, the furniture is amazing and very tasteful. Ultimately we would never stay here again. We felt duped by the description of a “private chic” beach house.

The house was gorgeous and spacious. We were celebrating a birthday and the new year. We had both residents and visitors in the house, old and young. Everyone was able to enjoy one another but also have their own quiet time. The pool and outside shower were excellent. We crossed the street and watched the sunset most nights. Beautiful

We spent 10 days at this gorgeous Plantation House on the West shore of Kauai. The house was even more beautiful than the listing showed, was sparkling clean, and furnished in the most comfortable and lovely furnishings. There was a covered patio that wrapped around most of the house, front to back, and provided so many places to eat, socialize, read and relax. The kitchen was completely stocked with every appliance, pots and pans, and all we needed to cook most of our meals there. The saline pool was fantastic, warm and we swam every day. There was an outdoor shower that was also a dream! The location had pros and cons. The Pros were that it had a great view, just across the street from the beach, and being on the West side of island, was much less touristy. We loved shopping at local markets and found several special restaurants we loved in Hanapepe and Waimea. The cons were that being so far West, except for Waimea Canyon, it took a long time to get anywhere else on the island, on two lane highway with lots of traffic! Also, the street noise in front of the house was much greater than other reviews let on. We found we needed to keep our screen doors shut at night, and mostly sat in backyard due to annoying noise. However, we still loved the house and had an incredible stay, and would definitely recommend it to anyone!

My entire family stayed at the Plantation House (seven people, ages 30-65) for a week in late September, and every single one of us would give this property 5 stars. It was a terrific home and not only met, but actually exceeded each of our individual expectations. Here is why this property is so special: • Property: o House sits on a huge lot, directly across the road from the ocean. Although initially concerned about crossing the Kaumualii Highway, it was not that busy (and easy to see oncoming traffic). There is not a huge beach (which is also dependent upon high / low tides) however do not pass up the opportunity to cross the road and sit on either the boulders or the beach to watch the sunsets. We did this several times. Honestly however, you can enjoy the sunset by sitting on one of the two front porches (first & second floors). The two front bedrooms have a shared porch—several evenings used this area for star gazing! o Beautifully landscaped (front and back) and meticulously maintained o The house is truly a plantation style with wrap around porches and high-end outdoor furniture (where we spent a lot of time) o The pool was wonderful. This was probably the most used space—perfect to relax in after a day of adventuring around the island. • Home: o Large home with tons of space to “spread out” and have privacy (noise did not carry) o Extra Large kitchen with lots of space and room—we found ourselves hanging out in this space not only to cook (together) but to visit. Every / any kitchen supply / utensil you would every need was provided. The extra space in the pantry was a plus. o All furnishings very, very nice and comfortable. Really liked the over-sized dining room table—great for family dinners and games. o All bedrooms large with lots of closet and storage space o Every possible provision provided: Washing machine and dryer (with detergent / dryer sheets), hair dryers, lots of towels (bath and beach), kitchen cleaning products / garbage bags, soaps, shampoos, iron & board • Owner / Management: o Very friendly--timely communication, responsive to questions. Could not have been more helpful. We truly could not have been happier with this property. Staying in this home took our vacation to another level. We will definitely plan our next trip to Kauai around this home’s availability.

So enjoyed our stay here. The salt water pool is great. Shoreline views and the ocean sounds at night. House is great and decor is very nice!

October 2013
I can't say enough good things about this property. The house is beautiful and the outside space is magnificent. The property is excellently maintained. We spent a great majority of our vacation out on the lanais and in the pool. Kauai is my absolute favorite of the Hawaiian Islands. This was my first time to stay on the west side of the island and I loved it. The location was peaceful, close to the beaches, close to the canyon, close to the docks for tours of the Napali Coast. I went with my extended family and we prepared and ate family meals together utilizing the outside dining as well as the formal dining areas. We spent our evenings hanging out on the lanai. This house embraced us, in fact we all had a hard time leaving because it felt like home. There were so many extras to this property, the outdoor shower, the pool, the wrap around lanai off the back with and upper and lower lanais in the front which allowed us to watch the ocean and the sunsets, the beach just across the street. The entire property is beautifully decorated and has every convenience. This was my Mom's first trip to the island, she doesn't like to fly, she loved this property and we won't have an issue getting her to return to her Hawaiian Home. This is now my favorite rental property on Kauai. We want to thank the owners for sharing their home with us.

Our family came to Davidson Pt beach house to celebrate two birthdays and a 25th wedding anniversary. We couldn't have asked for any place better to stay. We have been to Maui on several occasions and love it there. On this trip we decided to share our time and stay 5 days on Maui and 5 on Kauai. We chose Davidson Pt beach house because we wanted a family atmosphere and the feeling of old Hawaii. We got exactly what we came for. The house is exactly as described, the photo's do not do it justice. It was big and roomy and had the feel of Old Hawaii. Its like you can just imagine the sugar cane workers milling about. The pool in the back yard is such a plus. There were days when we really didn't want to even leave the house. This south/west side of the Island is breath taking. Not very commercial and with quiet pristine beaches just a few miles away. The beach across the road was not very good for our beginner surfers or for sun bathing, due to the rocky conditions however, just a few short miles down the road and all that changes. The yard surrounding the house has many fruit trees they seemed to fascinate everyone. My all time favorite was the plumeria trees that were in constant blume. When you wake up in the morning and that smell hits you smack in the face you know you are in heaven (or pretty darn close to it). The house was clean and very well kept. There was plenty of dishes to cook and grill out. We fixed almost all our meals here and had plenty of room to cook and eat. There were several eating places that accommodated all of us. Our favorite was the round table on the front porch. The dining room was nice too. No AC, no problem. The constant breeze blew through the house the whole time we were there. The sunsets were breathtaking! We stopped and watched every night. We felt very blessed to be able to stay in this wonderful home and would highly recommend it to any family coming to Kauai for some R&R. If you are looking for crowded beaches and lots of tourists keep looking this is not your place. If you want a nice family atmosphere of Hawaii long ago STOP because you have found your place. We look very forward to coming back, hopefully sometime soon :)

Overdue review and thought one was posted but my husband and I were married earlier in May and came with our three 16 year olds for this first as a family trip, kids' first trip to Hawaii. The house, the four bedrooms, pool. location was perfect! Our children still talk about this house and want to come back. it was the perfect home base for exploring the island or just hanging out and relaxing. we hope to book again soon as I think it will continue to be our favorite family trip, holding special memories and meaning. Scott handled it all perfectly. Have nothing but high praise for the whole experience.

We spent 10 nights at this house and found that it was perfectly set up for our group of 8 (my sister and I with our husbands, and 2 of our brothers with their wives). We each had a comfortable bedroom with king or queen beds and a view of either the ocean or pool/yard. Everything about this house feels inviting and homey! There are 3 or 4 areas to eat outside, plus the large dining room table (which we actually used only for Easter dinner and playing pinochle). Everyone had space for solitude if they wanted it, but there are also several gathering place for groups. The pool is quite nice, the kitchen truly has everything you'll need, and there is a mango tree in the back yard (which provided us with at least one a day during our stay). The location of the house is remote if you want to be near the more touristy areas(although Poipu isn't a very long drive, and the North Shore isn't either). It was perfect for us for precisely that reason! The community of Kekaha seemed friendly; we went to a church a few blocks away and were very warmly welcomed. The Kekaha beach park was very nice for swimming and not too busy; we also went to Salt Pond Beach Park (a 10-minute or so drive) which was very good. Polihale isn't too far either and is really worth exploring. We sampled poke from Ishihara's Market in Waimea and (some of us) loved it. Communication with Scott (before we went) and Sarah (while we were there) was easy, and the whole rental process was practically painless. The house was very clean when we arrived, as were the pool and yard, and the pool was cleaned twice while we were there. I would unreservedly recommend this house to anyone wanting a peaceful vacation in a beautiful house!

This beautifully designed and maintained property was the perfect retreat for us. Communication with Scott while making arrangements was clear and organized. Our settling in process was supported by helpful notes in the house in logical places. Our field trips were a delight and we enjoyed the peaceful times at home. The pictures above are accurate as are the descriptions of the home. Screens on all the windows and many doors and overhead fans in strategic places along with natural breezes make it possible to live very happily without air conditioning. The immediate neighborhood feels quiet and safe. Grocery stores and restaurants in Waimea, Hanapepe and Port Allen will keep you in touch with local people and life styles as will watching the sunset across the street from home.

If you plan to visit Kauai - try to get this property as it is the best on the island. We were extremely impressed and will definitely be back as long as it is available. The house has everything you need – and then some. You are close to what we found to be the best beach (Polihale) and just up from Waimea Canyon (take the road to the top). The management of the house do a great job cleaning, supporting, and just great people. We really appreciate the owners sharing this incredible property and the management for being flexible and hospitable.

We loved this house. Every detail was thought of and they didn't skimp on anything (from linens, to furniture, etc...). The decor was amazing! We stayed very comfortably with 6 people (4 adults 2 kids) and had room for more if we wanted. The house is so big and luxurious it affords you ample space for private and quiet time. The lanais are unbelieveable! The view of the water so beautiful. Didn't love the noisy highway running in front of the house but you get used to it and the ocean drowns it out. I wouldn't recommend the house if you are looking to be in the touristy part of the island. There really isn't much nearby and the neighboring town Waimea is very locals oriented. You have to drive 20-40 minutes to get to the good restaurants, beaches, and shops. And, not great for families with little babies unless you rent some "baby gates" which is what we did. Was the best decision and made our trip more relaxing to just suck it up and get the gates for the stairs, access to the pool, etc... Great if you want to get away from it all and have a secluded and relaxing vacation.

My advice...Run, do not walk to the computer to book this house! It was amazing. We have stayed all over the world and have never found a place like this. There is not one negative in regards to Davidson Point house. Two families of four (with 4 teenagers) and more room than you can possibly imagine. There are so many nooks and crannies to sit and read, listen to the ocean, and contemplate moving here. Never once felt crowded. We are planning where to put a hammock at home now LOL. The kitchen is the most well stocked of any we have rented. Tons of dishes, glasses and spices. Check out what is left before you go shopping. The pool was welcome, especially at night when you can see a thousand stars and almost get a headache with the fragrance of the plumeria. Don't let the two full baths deter you. No issues even with three teenage girls. The road can be a bit loud at times, we shut the doors to the balcony one night. Could still hear the ocean. LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT. The rental process was painless and Scott, now we will really appreciate your thoughtful book. Please note: Our family gets dibbs if they ever want to sell it!

I cannot say enough great things about this remarkable home. Myself and seven residents stayed here for a week and we couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to have stayed during our vacation to Kauai. The photos, while great, simply do not do this place justice. The kitchen is large and stocked with plenty of tableware and serving dishes. We cooked every single night except one and enjoyed the long dining room table for family style meals. The furniture, inside and out, is large and comfortable - there wasn't a bad seat anywhere! And having a pool was perfect for the second half of the week when we were a little beach-ed out. We all discussed that we would have been perfectly happy never leaving the house the entire trip, it was that great! Each night we walked across the street to the ocean and sat on the rocks to watch an amazing sunset. I would HIGHLY recommend this vacation home. To the owners: Thank you so much for opening your home to us. We had such a lovely time. I simply cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Kauai!

Basically I just want to keep this place all to ourselves, if the word gets out then it will be over booked!! We had such an incredible holiday with our three grown kids, the house is so beautifully appointed, everything in it's place and a place for everything. We have three professional chefs in the family so we had a ball shopping locally and preparing meals in the huge, well equipped kitchen, the only dilemma was which table we were going to dine at! The house was immaculate and very well maintained. The pool was a huge bonus for the couple of days we didn't venture to a beach and even the days we did go to beaches we could have a dip in the evenings. This would be a perfect house for 2 or 3 couples to share or a girls retreat or families with older kids since it's so beautifully decorated and not really small kid proof. The binder was very helpful, we checked off most of the 'must see or do' items listed. The Shrimp Shack, Island Tacos and The Grove Restaurants in Waimea were awesome. We would also highly recommend the Plantation Gardens in PoiPu for very authentic Hawaiian food. Since you can only see 20% of Kauai by car it's very worth while taking a helicopter ride to see parts of the island totally uninhabited, Jack Harter Tours were great and you are in the air for one full hour which most other companies are shy of 60 min. The Waimea Canyon is also a must see...this is equal to The Grand Canyon! Would we recommend The Davidson Pt. Beach House to friends and family... absolutely as long as we get invited too!

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
