The rental was just as described, but even better. It feels larger than the photos show, and the beds and pillows were super comfy. The kitchen had everything you would need, and the washer and dryer were a nice surprise. We made great use of the cruiser bikes and beach chairs and umbrella. We loved exploring the north shore and coming back to this little gem of a rental! The owners are super kind and respond quickly to questions. Thanks Jana!

The property is a block and a half from the beach on the west end. Loved having the beach cruisers to ride around the town. The unit was nice. Bed was comfortable. Opened the multitude of windows to take advantage of the trade winds. There is no AC, but ceiling fans in the bedroom and living area was nice. Will definitely stay again.

We had a great stay. Being one block off of the beach, we enjoyed many walks. The cruisers were great to use to ride down to the beach for sunset or around town. The bed was comfortable and supportive. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai with the Mountain View. We would definitely stay again.

I think this is our 6th stay at this rental. My husband and I love everything about it. The unit is spacious and has everything you’d need for kitchen and the beach. We loved our 2nd visit to Hanalei (of course!) and the property was perfect.
A couple of minutes to the beach and a short walk to the center of Hanalei. We used the bikes, beach chairs, umbrella & body board!
The accommodation was very comfortable with a large bedroom, walk in wardrobe, good shower, well equipped kitchen and comfortable living room - and a nice lanai.
We will definitely look for this property first when we come back to Hanalei!

The best part of this property is the location- within seconds you can walk to the beach and you are also a couple minute car drive to shops, restaurants, etc. The property is spacious with everything you need. This place had more amenities than my actual home—even a colander to strain our pasta! It was a great place, very comfortable. We were there the first week in October, so it was quite hot in the house without an air conditioner during the day. It did cool down at night though, which was crucial. The bikes provided were my favorite part. My foot was injured, so they allowed us to get to town without having to drive. The place was centrally located to everything on the North Shore, although the ocean was pretty rough so we did very little swimming (on the north and south parts of the island). The provided beach umbrella, chairs, and cooler still made our beach trips very enjoyable though. It poured rain the day after we arrived, but there were rainbows, waterfalls, good bars downtown, and a lot of streaming services on the television (Netflix, Disney +). Otherwise, it was sunny. Last note not related specifically to this property: The whole island is overrun with chickens. Cute, but the roosters crow all night long, not just at daybreak. Bring earplugs and a sense of humor.

We first stayed here in 2009 for two months, and over the years have wanted to return but haven't had the chance. We just came home after our second stay - for one month, this time - so clearly we love the place, and certainly recommend it to others. It is simple but has everything we needed, and the location is perfect. Even the endless chorus of roosters crowing to each other across town and the barking dogs add to the casual, friendly residential neighborhood character.

We've stayed at many vacation rentals, but this property is at the top of our list. The location is just a block from the beach, and boasts beautiful views from the ample windows throughout. We found the property to be beautifully maintained and equipped and was extremely clean. One of our favorite parts was having the beach cruisers available to bike 1 mile to the pier to watch the most beautiful sunset that you will ever see down by the Hanalei Pier. Also available for your use are boogie boards, surfboards, cooler, umbrella's, beach chairs, etc.
Even though we stayed during what was probably one of the hottest periods on record for the year, we found that the ample windows and fans cooled the place down pretty quickly, except for maybe a few hours during the middle of the day -- which was okay, because this is the time when we would be out exploring the beautiful island anyway. For probably 99% of the year, heat would probably be a non-issue.
Jana was a great communicator, always responding within minutes when I had a question. As a host, she exemplifies the Aloha spirit. We can't wait to return to Kauai, and we will definitely stay at Jana's place again.

Waialeale and waterfalls from the bedroom and the lanai are breathtaking, and made dining or just sitting on the lanai an amazing experience every day. We had the best 10 days celebrating our 25th anniversary in Hanalei. We loved everything about this place. It had everything we needed for a homebase while exploring Kauai for the first time. The location could not be any better with only a block to the beach in Hanalei Bay and easy access to Kuhio Hwy to get to many other beautiful beaches down the road going North and access the rest of the island going South. We absolutely loved the mountain views from all the south facing windows. The place is stocked with all the essentials and we appreciated the beach chairs, a cooler and boogie board. It was such a beautiful and relaxing place. Mahalo for letting us recharge in your beautiful place!

The home is about a 1 minute walk from the beach/bay which was our favorite part. We also had a fantastic time cruising into town on two of the bikes that come with the rental. I want to start and say this rental was amazing, we would just soak up the views from the patio of the surrounding scenery and it was breathtaking. The amenities were wonderful, we loved the bike ride to Hanalei pier. The host answered right away when I called and was hospitable. As noted in the description, there is no AC and it is an upstairs apartment. When we walked in, it was extremely hot. There is a fan in every room, and after opening up all the windows it did cool down relatively fast. It was comfortable at night and on rainy days, we spent the warm afternoons out enjoying the island anyways.
The apartment was overall very clean, however, there was a blackened banana peel in a very strange spot (by the washer and dryer?) that we assumed was from the previous guests. There were no issues at all aside from that.

We really enjoyed our stay. Only a block from the beach which gave us the chance to take morning and evening walks on the beach. You could hear the waves breaking at night from the house. They had many things available such as boogie boards, cooler, even a grill if you are so inclined.
About a half mile from Hanalei, so plenty of shopping and food close by. Hiking at hanei is just up the road, but get reservations 30 days out.

We really enjoyed our time in Hanalei at Jana's place. It's only two blocks from the beach and only a short walk to the downtown area of Hanalei. The rental in nicely furnished and even has a wash/dryer in unit. Jana also provides beach chairs, surfboards, boogie boards, coolers, and other beach gear, which was really nice. There's no A/C in the unit, but it's not needed at all. All you have to do is open up the windows and let the tradewinds do their job. It was plenty cool at night for sleeping (I am not a fan of sleeping in hot weather if I don't have to.) We enjoyed having our coffee each morning out on the lanai while looking at the beautiful scenery. we would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I had a great time staying at this property! Staying on the North Side during summer was perfect for everything that we wanted to do and we were so spoiled to stay in Hanalei (best location)! We could walk to the beach and it was only a short distance to town with restaurants and shops. Jana was very helpful and communicative the whole process and really was accommodating. The apartment was spacious and had everything that we needed. There were a lot of windows that we could open to get great cross breezes at night. You could see the beautiful green mountains from the lanai where we would eat breakfast. Even though there was a convoy system due to a landslide, it didn't really hinder any of our plans. If your activities are mainly on the North Side, it's to your advantage to stay in Hanalei over Princeville. We stayed 5 nights and did a day trip to the South Side of the island to see Waimea Canyon, which was very doable. Most rentals in Hanalei are for an entire house which is very expensive per night. This was a very affordable and spacious 1-bedroom that is a rare find!

Jana’s home was fantastic all around and we felt so lucky we found this gem of a spot for our trip. The house is literally a 2 minute walk to the beach, and a great little walk to the pier and town. We really appreciated the beach chairs and umbrellas they provide! The space itself is large and inviting and we loved the views from the lanai and bedroom. Having a kitchen to cook meals was particularly nice. The constant breeze kept the house and our room very comfortable at all times which as someone who does not love humidity I really enjoyed! Though we did not get the chance to meet Jana or her family as they were out of town, she was so friendly and helpful via text when we had questions about recommendations. Communication was great!
You’re a 10-15 minute drive from incredible beaches and Ne Pali coast hiking and we loved how close we were to everything on the north shore while still feeling removed from the resort bustle.

My fiancé and I could not have wished for a better vacation rental! The location was great-we walked to the beach in Hanalei bay almost every night, rode the bikes into town for breakfast and delicious fruit smoothies, and explored the local shops! It had a fully equipped kitchen and cute patio to enjoy meals. The views of Hanalei are breathtaking, waterfalls everywhere! We would definitely stay here again! Very clean and well organized. No A/C but with the windows open and fans on we kept cool.

This property is very close to everything I was interested in being close to. Water & surf is a block away. The town of Hanalei is 4 blocks away to market, restaurants, clothing, arranging for tours, renting surf & water gear. All within a 5 min pleasant walk.
The owner also supplied water sports equipment & bicycles to commute to town or beach. I used a bicycle to travel to the beach & my sister's house everyday. It made my local travels so simple & easy. So much was included for a very comfortable & pleasurable stay. The price was right!

Highly recommend Jana's property in Hanalei. It's in Hanalei itself, rather than the resort area Princeville, which we preferred. It's a ~2 minute walk from a beautiful beach, which was great for learning to surf on the two surfboards that Jana kindly left for us to use. Also within easy distance of other places along the north shore, like Tunnel's beach. The house itself was also very nice and comfortable.

Hanalei is a great location to begin with, and this place is in the sweet spot of being able to walk to the downtown, and is a short walk to a beach right on Hanalei Bay. It is also convenient to the shuttle out to Ke'e beach, a not-to-be missed spot in Kauai.

This is our second stay with Jana and Brydon and family (and Mojo). I wouldn't stay anywhere else. If you want fancy and lush accommodations, go to the St. Regis or a Poipu condo. If you want a relaxing down-home island feel, this is the place. For us, there is no other place to be on Kauai. :)

Jana and Bryden were great very friendly hosts and are a real local family. The unit enjoys great views of the mountains and some of the ocean side. The street leading up to the beach park is very quiet and residential. They even provide bikes to get to Hanalei town with shops and restaurants. Even on foot it is only 15 min along residential streets if you want to avoid the highway. The unit is very spacious and I found it very clean. Only thing: The bedroom is missing a door and the bed in the living area is small. For a solo traveller or a couple this is not an issue. Just if you are planning to bring a friend who wishes to have some privacy. The kitchen has everything except an dishwasher. Overall the great location justifies the rate (its Hanalei after all).

We stayed for four nights in September and loved it. Location is wonderful, close to town (walkable or bikeable) and very close to the beach and by that I mean less than a five minute walk down the road. The cottage is beautiful. Very comfortable and spacious with everything you might need for an easy vacation. Well-stocked kitchen- plenty of dishes and glassware. Tons of towels and beach towels plus they have everything you will need for your outdoor adventures-chairs, boogie boards, surf board, mats, toys, ice chest, bikes. Never saw Dana but did speak with Brydan a few times and he was very helpful. Highly recommend staying here. Mahalo Dana and Brydan. We can't wait to return to your wonderful beach cottage!

This vacation rental is a little gem. The apartment is clean, comfortable and airy and the views of the mountains from the bedroom, living room and lanai are amazing. Anything you could possibly need to go to the beach (which is less than a 5 minute walk away) is provided. The cruiser bikes were an added bonus which made our trips to town and the pier for nightly sunsets so much more enjoyable. Jana was very easy to work with and always available by phone if we needed anything during our stay. We've visited Kauai in the past, but have never stayed in Hanalei. It's such a special place in Kauai and definitely our new favorite vacation spot. Thank you to Jana, Brydan, Brock and Jordyn for sharing their home with us, we truly enjoyed our time. We highly recommend this place and look forward to staying here again!

We stayed at Jana and Brydan's (and Brock and Jordyn's) beautiful home in Hanalei Bay for 4 nights (of a 3 1/2 week Hawaiian trip) and loved every minute of it. It was truly the highlight of our travels.The space is bright, breezy, clean and has breathtaking views from every window. The location was ideal-- on a quiet street, steps from the stunning beach and walking distance to town. Jana and Brydan are wonderful and thoughtful people who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable! The use of their bikes and beach equipment made us feel more like locals than tourists. (Brydan even generously gave us some recently caught ono and salmon which was probably the best tasting fish we've ever eaten!) The peaceful lanai was an added bonus (as was the use of the washer-dryer, which came at the perfect time during our trip). We feel lucky to have stayed in this amazingly special place on Kauai. Mahalo to Jana and family for such a memorable experience! We highly recommend their home!!!

Great house in great location! The views were AMAZING and it was so great being able to walk right down to the beach. We would definitely stay again. We didn't get a chance to meet the family, as they were out of town, but everything was just as pictured and we had everything we needed. Thanks so much!

has everything you need including beach bags, chairs, boogie boards, bikes, kitchen supplies
but i have to add that the suite is basic boring. No decor what so ever, meaning nothing tropical, no pictures etc. living area had only 1 couch that was in worse shape than the one in my college dorm and had a slip cover that was in equally bad shape that kept coming off. i finally used the beach towels to sit on, and that worked. coffee table old and crappy with lots of water damage. drapes old, hang on floor. a single bed just sitting in the middle of the large living area. Bathtub shower very very slippery.
Just not a very homey feeling. i am writing this to let folks know these particulars. i worry because there are many rentals in same proximity to beach that are maybe 25 dollars a night more (i googled rentals in area as i was curious) and much more inviting in regards to character and quality of comfortable furniture. there is now competition in the area and i hope they are aware of this
