Loved the room. But the drawers in the dresser were full of sand. There was only one partially used roll of toilet paper and no extra bags for the garbage can. I had to go to the front desk and beg for extra. Also nothing explained how to use the remote for the tv. My sister rented a room from a different company and they had a nice welcome package. Coffee, some chocolate covered macadamia nuts, a couple of granola bars, and some cookies that was extra special.

Location was fantastic. Walk 20 yards from your lanai to the beach. Perfect for a couple, not good for any more than that. A couple drawbacks to the property.
1. Parking, or the lack thereof. They say parking is first come first served, which is another way of saying there's not enough parking for everyone. If you come back after 7:30 or so, expect to park on the street outside. It can be a long walk to the condo from where you parked.
2. No utensils of any kind. Not a fork, spoon, knife, bottle opener, spatula. There are cups and plates, coffee maker, microwave and toaster oven, but nothing to stir your coffee or put cream cheese on a bagel . You can use the grill, but only if you're ok with turning your steak with your bare hands. We weren't expecting a full kitchen, but it would have been nice to be able to stir my morning coffee.

The unit is right on the beach and next to the pool. We did not hear any noise from the pool while in the unit. However, the unit itself is very tired and in need of upgades. Both my husband and myself were initially disappointed when we entered the unit. But it was fine. Beware of the bed height if you are short - it is very tall. I am around 5'3" and had difficulty getting in and out of bed.

This is a long review (because I like reading long reviews)--for those who prefer short reviews--one of the best stays we've had on Kauai.
Now for the longer review:
LOCATION is perfect--just minutes from the airport, centrally located and even walking distance to the uber-ABC store (iHawaii-veterans-you know about ABC stores) and other nearby stores. Only downside is turning LEFT onto the highway.
FACILITY is great. NO ELEVATORS, so nice that this is a first floor room. Facility staff were pleasant though you have only limited reason to interact with them.
ROOM (yes, this is a hotel-style room) was spic-and-span clean; bed was super-comfy and you open the patio door to a perfectly manicured lawn and THE OCEAN. The only downside is you need to pull the blinds for privacy (2nd and 3rd floor rooms have a little more privacy). Pool is immediately adjacent, but you have to go out the front door or walk around--you can hear the pool crowd (not necessariliy a bad thing). Pool closed at sunset during our stay due to an issue with the pool lighting, so not sure if the pool-crowd would be more of an issue at night. Sleeping is DELIGHTFUL to the sound of the ocean if you leave the patio door open.
Remember, it's a hotel room, so "kitchen" is limited, but plenty of utensils (hint, two drawers BENEATH the cabinets). Dorm-style refrigerator kept everything super-cold and the resort has TWO ice machines.
PARKING was easy-breezy (not always the case on Kauai).

Lovely to have beach front view. Walking distance to ABC store. Stated had been recently remodelled but couldn't see it. Kitchenette tiny, which made it a challenge to prepare food. BBQ is by the pool not on the outside area of the property. No kitchen sink plug. Vertical blinds clanged at night due to proximity to air-conditioning. Would be helpful to have instructions on how to use TV remote. We are not familiar with Spectrum so had difficulty using it. Felt some references to what the property offered was a little misleading. Read what is included carefully.

This condo is basically a one room hotel room with a kitchenette. It is on the ground floor of a three story unit. The back of the unit has sliding glass doors that opens to a small patio and to the beach that is about 60ft from there. With nothing between this unit and the beach. The unit and building were clean and in great condition. The bathroom was of a good size. The kitchenette has a mini fridge along with oven toaster and a microwave. The grounds are well maintained with a large variety of plants. The pool and pool's bar is near this unit. The property had plenty of parking available. The front desk staff was very helpful. Across the parking lot and in easy walking distance is a small outdoor mall with a grocery store as well as a couple restaurants and souvenir stores. This location works out as central to places on the island. As well as short drive to and from the airport. If I go back to Kauai I hope to stay here again.

We checked in, no issues ar all. The TV was a challenge, however, the ussue was easily resolved by Judeson from maintenance. The condo was clean and
orderly. We found enough towels were provided, enjoyed the mid stay housekeeping attention. We are hoping to return for another one month stay annually.

This was our second time staying at Islander on the Beach. The location is amazing, the grounds are beautiful and the price was reasonable. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The unit’s ground level location right next to the pool and steps away from the beach make for a very pleasant stay!

This is such a gem of a property. Ocean front with a lovely patio to have your morning coffee. The pool is right beside this room so it’s very convenient, and not loud. Pool bar has a great happy hour, and BBQ’s to cook on. Definitely would book again if we return to Kauai.

Great location, on the ocean, ground floor very useful. Safe didn't work in the unit but very safe. Stores and food are right behind here. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Places to visit are sometimes hidden but GPS is essential. Txs for a lovely stay.

Would definitely rent again. Location is perfect to Coconut MarketPlace, centrally located and unit had everything we needed. The only down side is we weren’t allowed to use laundry room on site as this is only allowed for resort guest and since this unit is privately owned the resort didn’t allow us to use.

We arrived and the unit was clean, but smelled a bit damp. We did not have sheets for the rollout bed, but contacted the unit maintenance and they were very quick to respond, very nice and helpful. The towels and linens did not seem fresh. They looked clean but musty. There were only 2 beach towels, one was a large bath towel, so not enough for our family of 4 to take to the beach or pool. The laundry on site was not for vrbo renters but the laundromat in town was very clean. Overall rating is due to the unit being less than we expected.

My partner and I had a great stay @ Islander at the Beach in Kapaa. The room had everything we needed, and we loved being so close to the beach, BBQ, pool and hot tub. And Kapaa is a perfect central location on Kauai. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this room, and we hope to return one day!

Bottom floor condo steps from the beach and right next to the pool, hot tub and tiki bar. We arrived on 3/14/17. Jeff let us drop our luggage early because out flight got into Lihue much earlier than check-in time. The condo was very clean. The view was amazing, looking out over the water. That evening there was an entertainer out on the pool deck playing a guitar and great songs. We had a couple of drinks at the tiki bar and enjoyed the hot tub while the kids enjoyed the pool. What I enjoyed the most was being able to walk out of the sliders in the morning and down to the beach to watch the sunrise. I wish we would have had several more days to stay here as 3 nights was way too short! The condo had everything we needed and Jeff was friendly, responsive and accommodating to our needs. The only negative I could speak of is the size of the unit was a bit small for the 4 of us. But I wouldn't even consider that a negative since we knew that going in and that decision was ours. The place is perfect size for 2 or 3 people or families with small children. With me, my wife and 2 teenagers it was a little tight. Everything else was perfect. Highly recommended!

I have stayed here three times so with that in mind I have few complaints. I would like the owner and maid to consider leaving a few personal touches though, ie sugar for coffee, sunscreen, salt and pepper. Lots of us leave these items every stay and they are all removed so that the next visitor has to buy all the same things again. It seems a waste. On the same vacation we spent a week in a VRBO in Kona and it has a cabinet of kitchen supplies and a cabinet of bathroom items. It is a small personal touch but helpful for a weeks stay.

A terrific unit at Aston Islander on the Beach, Kapaa. The town of Kapaa is an easy place to explore the entire island from, and offers all manner of affordable amenities just a short walk or drive away. This studio is on the main level, many breakfasts and dinners were enjoyed overlooking the ocean. The kitchen area provided everything we needed during our three week stay (um, except a potato peeler). Very happy to have had use of guide books, beach chairs and a sun umbrella. Mahalo!

My husband and I spent one week here in January. The rental was perfect for our needs. The location on the island is great and the location of this unit in the resort is fantastic. We appreciated being just a few steps from the pool area and enjoyed watching the spectacular sunrises from our patio. All week we commented on how lucky we were to find this perfect resort unit. The unit was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Having restaurants and the marketplace close by is an added benefit. I don't know if we will ever make it back to Kauai but if we do I would certainly stay here again.

The room #145 had all the basics: mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, toaster oven. No stove which gave me the perfect excuse not to cook although grilling tools were available. There was basic dishes, storage containers and silverware Room was just the right size for my son and me.The beds were comfy. The bathroom was big with plenty of towels including beach towels. The shower was adequate but only had one setting. The AC worked real well. There was a lanai with a very nice view.
Parking was plentiful and it was easy to get the permit.
The grounds were spotless as was the pool and spa. There were plenty of shade and places to lounge both poolside and on the beach. the beach was a nice surprise being as it was possible to enter the water. we did not stray far from the shore as the depth increased very quickly. There were outdoor showers for de-sanding.
The bar made some mighty good Mai Tais. The staff was friendly and efficient. My thanks to Dan for steering us towards good eats and beaches and for being good company.
The Islander is located on the east coast and it was an easy drive to get anywhere on the island.
The only improvements to the property I could suggest is placing some lighting by the grills.

Excellent location - ocean, pool and hot tub just steps outside the back door. Very comfortable overall, nice, clean room. No laundry available on site. Refrigerator has no freezer. So don't buy food you may need to freeze if your staying more than a week. We coordinated our laundry with shopping as a grocery store is in the same parking lot as the laundry mat. Owner provides starter amenities and three beach towels. Room might be tight for more than one or two small children. We also enjoyed our stay and would return.

My new husband and I spent the last three nights of our honeymoon in this condo and it was our favorite place. If we had stayed here first we would have tried to extend it. The beach was right out the slider door and the views are wonderful. I was not expecting such a nice pool, hot tub and tiki bar. The front desk turned on the world cup for us at the bar before the bar was open so we could sit outside and enjoy the game. The people that work and stay there are incredibly friendly and we made some new friends. The room was comfortable, had everything we needed for grilling out or a day at the beach. Jeff was kind enough to let us check out a little late so we could freshen up before getting on our flight home. We stayed at a fancy resort on the Big Island and still liked this better. Thank you for the wonderful memories! When we come back we plan on staying here again.
