Your house is a fantastic piece of paradise for a family vacation. It's 20 miles - but as good as a thousand - from the crowds and bustle of the Waikiki high-rise hotel scene. The uncrowded sandy beach is as good as being private. There was always a cooling breeze, the sunrises spectacular. The delightful owner was a peach to work with, keeping us well informed. Most highly recommend this property!

No words can do justice to how beautiful this location is. The beach is incredible, and never crowded. Plenty of shade up in the treeline.
We’d read about some people having issues with a homeless camp nearby — but it’s at the park a half mile down the beach. Not an issue in any way. And why would you use the bathroom down there anyway when your house is much closer to the beach.
The house ain’t fancy, but it’s incredibly comfortable, and there are windows everywhere, letting in sun and breeze and views.
I’ve stayed all over the world, we’ve stayed in fancier places, but I’ve never stayed this close to such an incredible beach.
The owner was friendly and responsive. And the Ono steak and shrimp down the block is top notch for plate lunches.
If you like laidback Hawai’i, you can do no better than this house.

Family trip to relax on the beach. The neighborhood is great, close enough to Honolulu but far enough away to avoid the crowds.

We love this location. Great boogie boarding waves and beach. It’s 15-20 minutes from restaurants and 30 to Waikiki surfing.
The house had all the space we needed with the addition of the cottage. The couches were comfortable and looked clean. We enjoyed watching movies at night in the family room.
We loaded up with groceries at Costco and found all the cooking utensils and pots and pans we needed to prep meals when we didn’t eat out.
Sherry was responsive when we had questions or needed maintenance help.
This home is mainly cooled with the breeze off the ocean and fans. The cottage and 2 downstairs bedrooms have window a/c units. I mention this because you will likely need to leave the upstairs windows open at night to stay cool and will hear the ocean and palm trees swaying all night. (Some may not like this.)
We also love the outdoor shower and preferred it to the interior options.
This is an older home and you will see ants, geckos and spiders. I did not see any roaches on the inside of the house.
There is a bit of a rustic feel to this home, but it has amazing views, quiet beach and just what we needed for family time in Oahu.

Our family gathered at Hawaiian Sunrise to celebrate our granddaughter’s college graduation. The wonderful setting in native flora just steps to the golden beach made us feel as though we had our own home in O’ahu. The house had all the amenities to accommodate us all. We even had a dinner with extended family members who were staying in Waikiki; they were blown away by our spot under the shadow of a cliff side. The top level equipment /appliances made cooking just as convenient as my own home. The setting on the beach provides a genuine million-dollar location. If you want a wonderful Hawaii experience, come to Hawaiian Sunrise.

We loved watching sunrise on the beach and long walks along the shore. The common spaces are very inviting and encouraged gathering and cooking as a large group.
the dishwasher wasn’t working and sherry was able to contact the repair person and get us a temporary fix. A lovely spot.

The pictures of this home don’t do it justice. It has gorgeous views, comfortable, quality furniture, and a very nice and stocked kitchen with everything you need. We appreciated the Xbox and all the beach gear as well! Our group has rented many many homes in amazing locations and everyone commented on how nice this house was as well. The beach is right there, though it was fairly windy for 4 of our 5 days. Our tween and teen kids lived the waves for body boarding but if I had young kids we’d probably walk 5 mins down the beach to the slightly calmer waters. The neighborhood is quiet and felt perfectly safe.
A few details that didn’t bother us but that you may want to be aware of… the primary/master bedroom upstairs has no door so noise from the kitchen can be heard if you sleep in, and the upstairs bath only has a tub, no shower. We did all our showers outside and that worked fine. Also the downstairs bedrooms don’t have curtains so if you need blackout shades I’d think about that.
This was a lovely area of Oahu to stay and the home was awesome, I’d highly recommend!

We were absolutely stunned to walk in to this great house and its perfect setting. The house sits on one of the most perfect beaches on Oahu.
You are steps away from the beach with miles of gorgeous and sand and waves with very few people on it—a bit more crowded on the weekends, but still not crowded at all and mostly not near where you are.
Sunrises are unbelievably gorgeous and evenings are lovely and secluded.
The house itself is beautiful and comfortable in the Old Hawaiian-style. It’s well-equipped for cooking, relaxing, and if you wanted to watch tv or movies you could with many choices (we didn’t!) The living spaces are huge, with gorgeous wood floors and dining table. There are lots of windows for cooling breezes and views. There’s a large front yard with beautiful landscaping and a nice side yard with a big grill and tons of seating for outdoor meals.
This was one of the best places we’ve ever stayed and we will definitely be back!!

I have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals and most of the time the pictures make it look more beautiful than it actually is, this is the opposite. It looked a little dark, but the location looked wonderful to me, so we booked it, and it turned out to be absolutely beautiful windows everywhere Bright and airy everything was clean. No bugs !!! Anything we needed was there. I had such a wonderful time we had five people in the house more than enough room. The beach was just stepped out the back door just amazing. 🌺 Can’t wait to stay here again 🌴

This was our third time vacationing in Waimanalo. This property was perfect for our family. I had the opportunity to meet the owner. Such a nice person. Can’t wait to visit again.

Perfect location on Wiamanalo Beach. The house is a vintage Hawaiian beach house with all the amenities. Loved the views and proximity to a pristine white sandy beach. Our host was wonderful and very accomodating. Would stay there again.

Absolute perfection at the Hawaiian Sunrise property! Incredibly relaxing, comfortable, amazing beaches, walks, swims, complete Zen.
Cannot say enough good things about this property and management team.
Thank you!!! We will be back!

June 2023
We loved our view. Location was perfect.
Ocean views from the house on both levels. Quiet beach and boogie boarding all week. We enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning.
The kitchen is well stocked. We had everything we needed. The couches and beds we’re comfortable.
The house is older and the upstairs does not have AC, but the wind blowing through the screens kept us cool at night. We didn’t use the tub in the master bathroom, so outdoor shower was a hit.
There were some bugs, but I think older properties next to the beach will have bugs. Most of what we saw was already dead.
Sheri was great to work with, accessible and attentive.
We would stay here again. Thank you for sharing your home!

Sherry was a wonderful host and very prompt with responses, which makes this review difficult to write. Unfortunately, we were unhappy with the condition of the older home, the backyard was way overgrown and the house was overwhelmed with the bugs and ants. The photos looked nicer than it actually appeared. I stayed in the cottage alone, and for the first 3 days of the 7 it was overrun with gnats and ants. Sherry was extremely accommodating by bringing another cleaning crew during our stay after I reached my patience with the place. But the very next day, the cottage bathroom was full of ants this time. I left the ant spray on the floor to constantly use it. When I pulled up the mat there were so many. I simply did not want to reach out to Sherry again after that. The home would be great with a professional exterminator, better lighting in the living room of the main house, screens for the sliding doors by the kitchen so flies don't keep coming into the house (we had to keep them closed most of the time) and lots of attention to the overgrown backyard. Hopefully for the next renters these issues will be resolved.

Our family gathered here for a week and had a really fantastic time. The property is great from the front yard where kids can play to the large gathering areas inside to the extremely easy access to a beautiful beach. The neighborhood is also very walkable. Sherry was easy to communicate with and very responsive. I’m very grateful we were able to rent this house and make family memories together.

This place was the perfect place for our family. The beach is one of the best beaches in Oahu for swimming/body boarding. The place was nice and clean. Great location, not too busy compared to other parts of island. BBQ grill pits worked great for all of our cooking!
Thanks so much for everything!!

Poor property maintenance allowed Multiple coachroaches in the house. I saw more coach roaches during my first four days at this property than I have see in my entire 62 years. Coachroaches are very common to Hawaii, but I have never had any problems during 20 years a visits to the island. We put down a over the counter bug barrier and sprayed on day 4 and had no further problems during the stay. The doors to the outside are made of wood and have deteriorated leading to poor sealing . This can be remedied. Location was beautiful and the house was spacious

Our family of 6 had a fantastic time at the Hawaiian Sunrise house. The location is perfect - right on the beach with private path to the sand. Wonderful breezes through plentiful windows keep the house comfortable.
The full-sized kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for family meals. Plenty of dishes, cookware, and appliances. The large dining table made it a pleasure to host another family for dinner. We sat 10 very comfortably.
All of the beds were quite comfortable. The AC units worked well in the ground floor bedrooms. We didn’t miss it at all in the upstairs primary bedroom. The double sliders and ceiling fan kept the room airy and cool.
The 3 full-sized couches in the living room gave us plenty of space to relax and enjoy games or movies.
We had such a wonderful visit. We look forward to staying again!

This is a modest, older home in a dream location/lot. Of all the VRBO's we have rented, this was by far the best stocked, from the kitchen down to the beach toys and everything in between. The bedding and towels were good quality and we had plenty of towels for our group of 7 adults and 1 baby. All of the beds were very comfortable. The location is excellent, plenty of nice restaurants within a 10- 15 minute drive and also a few breakfast/lunch restaurants we could walk to. Communication was excellent. I would definitely recommend this rental. We are looking forward to a future visit.

Thankful for a cozy family vacation with all the essentials in a friendly quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed the local beaches for swimming and snorkling. The nearby Sea Life Park is definitely worth a visit with the whole family. Excellent location and beautiful, mostly swimmable beach.

Great beach front house with guest house on quiet east side of island. Great location. 30 minutes to Honolulu or an hour to north shore. Walk to cafe for breakfast lunch or dinner. Small market in walking distance.

This was a perfect family get away. My adult daughter and her husband stayed in the cottage and the other five of us were in the main house. The beach was a super short walk out the back door. There was also a great bakery/deli a 10 minute walk away and a corner store that had everything we were looking for at the time.
The property was just as described and we look forward to staying here again,

October 2022
We stayed at the amazing house for a week. There were 8 of us that included 2 kids and grandparents and everyone was very comfortable and had plenty of space. The master bedroom offers the most beautiful view of the sunrise and the cottage was perfect for the grandparents as they had their own space. The location on the beach couldn’t be beat and was ideal for the kids to walk down to and play. There are stores and restaurants near by making everything very convenient. Sherry was more than accommodating and so pleasant to work with. The whole process of checking in and out couldn’t have been easier. Thank-you Sherry for sharing your beautiful home for a vacation we will never forget.

We loved it here. We all had such a marvellous time with our own beach and peace and quiet. Nothing can beat falling asleep with the sound of the waves crashing on the shore.

The house sits on probably the most beautiful beach in Hawaii. It is close enough to Honolulu and Waikiki to see the sights, yet far enough away to be secluded. We were very happy with the location. Sherry was very attentive and responsive whenever we needed anything. Thank you!

Do yourself a favor and book this house! Where do I begin? You won’t find a better house with a better location! Right on one of the most gorgeous beaches, located in a quiet neighborhood with little traffic making the beach basically all yours. My favorite part?- waking up and looking right out into the turquoise water. Sherry is an awesome host and makes sure you have everything you need. Great food within walking distance, as well as a little grocery store with all your basics. Our group of 8 fit perfectly and could not have had a more amazing vacation. We hope maybe one day we can all go back!

Family of 5 (2 adults, teen, child and grandmother) had a wonderful week staying at this lovely property. The house is located on the beach and the whole family enjoyed sunrise walks every morning and boogie boarding at dusk every evening. The separate stand-alone cottage was perfect for the grandmother who enjoyed having extra privacy. Waimanalo beach was beautiful and not crowded and the town itself is a short drive from Kailua, Kaneohe and Honolulu attractions.

My family had a wonderful week at Sherry's property in mid April. Sherry was wonderful to deal with both before and during our stay. The views of the beach from inside the house are stunning. The home is located in a quiet, residential, and mostly locals-only area, and the main sound you're going to hear is that of the wind and the waves. If you want close access to high-end shops and restaurants, this is not the place for you. But if you want a peaceful getaway that makes you feel like you're in old-time Hawaii, you've found your home.

We loved this house, it’s location and the gorgeous beach it’s on. The house is spacious and situated with amazing views of Waimanalo beach. Then you step outside and the beach is a 1 minute walk. The bustle of Kailua or Honolulu is 15-30 minutes away but this quiet paradise couldn’t be better.

This property is in a great location and is a perfect size for a family or small group of friends. The grocery store is close and property manager is friendly and communicates well. I would highly recommend this property and visiting Waimanalo Beach.

January 2022
Overall a truly wonderful experience. A total of five of us stayed at the property, and certainly there would be accommodations for several more as we did not even the separate cottage that is on the property.
The views on the second floor are just unparalleled, the beach is a short walk off the backyard..
The house is spacious, neat and tidy, and outside of New Year’s when it seems that the whole neighborhood get me together in celebrating with fireworks, it’s actually a very quiet and idyllic setting..
Make sure you do your research ahead of time to look at what the typical weather conditions are adequacy ocean is empathic significantly between the summer and winter months as well then as the rate of precipitation.
Overall eight days here were a wonderful stay, we had previously stayed on resort properties but really appreciated the autonomy of having our own home and all that goes along with that.
The host Sherry is very accommodating with communication and any things that may come up during your stay.

Very comfortable home, perfect for a relaxing trip. Sherry is responsive and helpful. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking our meals. Everyone agreed that the beds were very comfortable. Great location right on the beach and also a quick drive to cute independent shops and Whole Foods in Kailua. Highlight for our group was the outdoor shower.

We couldn't have been happier with the location and vibe of this property.. It's in a quiet residential area with mostly local families on the beach (the antithesis of Waikiki). The house isn't fancy and a bit weathered but has everything you'll need to be comfortable. The view from the upstairs bedroom is dreamy. It was like living in a postcard. The water was swimmable the entire time we were here although I understand that's not always the case. The beach is simply gorgeous -- soft, clean sand. Sherry is a fantastic host. We hope to return one day soon!

This property is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. It's quiet and away from the congestion and crowds. The home was perfect for our large family with a large living room and beautiful kitchen. We will for sure be returning! Sherry was very attentive and easy to communicate with. The outdoor shower was our favorite feature!

June 2021
Overall, the stay was great, the house was great and super convenient to walk out the backyard, take a few steps and be at the beach. It's a private beach, so there were some days where we felt like we were the only ones there, which was nice. We had 6 people (3 adults, 3 kids) and the house had more than enough space for us all. Check in was easy and communication with Sherry (the owner) was easy and straightforward and she was responsive. Overall had a great stay. The location is also nice, great neighborhood, some places to walk and get some beach grub and then just a quick drive up to Kailua for good restaurants and grocery stores and shopping. Overall, we really loved that we felt like we had our own private beach in Hawaii, yet were close enough to enjoy the other activities of the island.
November 2013
What a jewel!! The perfect house for a great Hawaiian vacation! We absolutely loved our stay. Quiet, not too busy beach steps away from the large backyard. Super clean home with a large, up to date kitchen. The BEST master bedroom I have ever slept in with ocean breeze to wake you up in the morning. And on site washing machine and dryer. The detached cottage is an added bonus!
It is a quick 15 min drive to the grocery store and 5 minutes away from a great hike at the Makapu Lighthouse, a great location.
I cannot recommend this property enough. Book this home if you have a chance, do not hesitate.

September 2012
Stayed here with my grandparents, mother, fiance, fiance's parents and her sister and had the most unforgettable trip of our lives. I grew up on Oahu and my family, like many locals, always thought that Waimanalo Beach is the best on the island, and the beach house did not disappoint. The home itself is beautiful, my fiance and I had the upstairs bedroom which is simply astonishing in how comfortable and romantic it is. The home has many windows which we left open to soak up the breeze coming off the water. The atmosphere is so great at the house that although there are many things to do on the island you may find yourself staying there during your trip. Some of our best memories were cooking, drinking and eating as a family in the huge kitchen and dining room. The barbecue pits provided a number of good dinners. There is a foodland in Kailua about 20 minutes away and a small convenience store very close to the house. Do yourself a favor and grab a plate lunch at Keneke's, which is walking distance from the house. There is local coffee shop next to Keneke's as well. As far as driving you can get to Wakiki in 30 minutes. There are hiking/waterfall destinations even closer than that, and Hanauma Bay is just a short trip away. Waimanalo is not a surfing beach but boogie boarding in the morning can be awesome. The house's proximity to Waikiki is awesome but having the option of just relaxing in such a beautiful place is well worth the trip. I had planned on proposing to my then girlfriend on a hike but when I got to the beach house I realized how perfect it was and popped the question on the beach just behind the house with the fog over the mountains and the sun rising to greet us. Needless to say she said yes, and I think the house may have swayed her opinion! All in all such a great place to be, thank you Sherry we are definitely coming back. Mahalo!
July 2012
We stayed for 1 week with our 3 adult children, daughter-in-law, friend and our new grandson. Plenty of room for all without being on top of each other. House has incredible view of beach and is just a few steps to water and fantastic beach-walking. This is a great place to stay and get away from tourist crowd, but only be 1/2 hour from Waikiki. All the amenities of home, in a gorgeous Hawaiian setting.

February 2012
Our family loved our stay...the privacy of the beach in front was so wonderful....the beach I think was one of the best if not the best we explored on the island.....the water was wow...the first week it was super smooth...even for children...the second week a little more windy but we still enjoyed the beach every morning. The best swimming was morning till noon...though we still jumped in late afternoon. The house was comfortable, clean and cool even on the hottest day with everything we needed for our fantastic family suppers. We would go back in a minute!
April 2010
Dear Sherry, Thank you again, we truly enjoyed our stay in Hawaii. Your home worked out very well for our family, it could not have been better. The outdoor area, and the gated front was perfect place for the little ones to play. The beach, the waves, the weather was relaxing. I am happy we found your home! Thank you again from " R Family". To say thet the house and location is perfect does not do it justice. My family (parents, wife, 2 teenage daughters, sister and her husband) spent 10 incredible days on Oahu staying here in Waimanalo. The house held everyone with plenty of room, the sunrise every morning was unbelievable, and the beach is undescribeable. Only 15-20 minutes from Honolulu and the "tourist" area, but a world apart. You will not be disappointed in this house. We are already talking about our next visit, and we will stay here again. Mahalo.
March 2010
Paradise! My husband, son/wife/14-yr. old and 17-yr. old granddaughters, daughter/husband and I stayed here for 9 days and it was wonderful. Having a house is the best way to take a family vacation. This house was just perfect for us. We made a list of places to see or things we wanted to do, did them, and then were able to return to the peace and quiet of the Waimanalo house. Loved the beach and water. Several local eateries nearby. Grocery store is neat and very clean. Military, active or retired, have access to Kaneohe which is about 20 minutes away. We had looked forward to this trip for 6 months and it was all that we hoped it would be.
