We absolutely loved this immaculate and clean condo in Maui. The screened in lanai was the icing on the cake. We saw so many whales and turtles from the balcony. And the complex had such easy access to the beach, boardwalk, restaurants and a grocery store. I can’t say enough good things about it. Don’t hesitate to book this if it’s available. I so hope we can stay here again one day. Mahalo!!

This is a great property: Very well-equipped, comfy bed, beautiful, fabulous view, and very convenient for all that we enjoyed during our stay. Loved having the spin bike on the lanai. And really had fun watching the whales, dolphins, and turtles right out front! The owners are very responsive and communicative, which was very much appreciated, especially after a lengthy arrival flight delay. We hope to visit Maui again in the future, and this property would be our first pick for booking again.

We came to Maui to celebrate our wedding anniversary and to watch the migration of the humpbacks. The lanai on this property was perfect…we watched mamma and baby whales, turtles and manta rays. Because the lanai could be enclosed, we were able to still sit outside when it was windy and even when it rained. We will return!!!

We have stayed at the Maui Kai several times and this was on the back end of a 50th anniversary celebration in July. Without question, Barry and Rhonda's place is absolutely beautiful and they have thought about and included for just about every conceivably need a traveler might have for a stay on Maui, from the kitchen, to the bedroom, to entertainment, to going out and enjoying the beaches and restaurants of Maui, they seem to have anticipated it all. Oh yes, you cannot get any closer to the ocean and have a more spectacular view. From a communication standpoint, Barry and Rhonda were always available both before and during our stay. We could not have enjoyed our visit more and we would most definitely recommend their place to anyone.

Wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary. The best part of the trip was waking up every morning sipping coffee and relaxing on the deck looking out at that amazing view. The evening drinks weren't bad either. The condo was very comfortable in every way wouldn't change a thing. Beautifully remodeled. You couldn't ask for better with the ocean one way and the mountains the other. Everything you could think of within walking distance. Loved this place will definitely be back.

The pictures do not do this place justice. I was a little concerned about the square footage of this condo, but once in there, it felt so roomy. The decorations were so nice and the use of mirrors made it look spacious. They have thought of about everything that you would need for your stay. I am not one to sit still for very long, but this place was so relaxing that I didn’t want to leave the lanai and the spectacular view of the ocean. Everything was perfect, except for the day before we arrived, the building management sprayed the whole complex for bugs. Well in doing that we think they chased some into the condo, but Barry was quick to get an exterminator in and that problem was taken care of. The building looks to be about 50 years old on the outside…not really a problem, because the inside is beautiful. In fact, I doubt if current codes would allow anyone to build that close to the water today. This was the first vacation that I have had, where I was sad about leaving. We would certainly come back again.

This property was absolutely perfect for our honeymoon. We never used any of the kitchen stuff to cook with, but it’s well stocked! The views from the lanai are second to none. We sat out there every morning and evening just listening to the waves crash in and it was so relaxing! There is a grocery store across the street for whatever you need which was convenient. Overall an excellent stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone.

The unit was very nice and exactly as stated. Location was great for people who don’t rent a car. Groceries, restaurants and food trucks all within a short walk. The only issue was poor communication with the property manager for daily essentials that were not in ample supply for our two week stay.

This place was as good as advertised. Actually the beach access was closer than we thought. It's literally a walk through the back lobby and you are there. Just minutes away. We saw a school of dolphins from our porch with our binoculars. Would highly recommend!

My Wife and I were spending our honeymoon in Maui and went snorkeling, hiking, beach day, ect. Everything we could ever need for all of those activities were provided by Barry and Rhonda. This was our first and more likely our only trip to Maui.
Our daughter found this condo for us. It was exactly what we wanted. We wanted that WOW factor! As you walk into the condo, that’s what we got. The bedroom was a nice size and decorated lovely. In fact, the décor was perfect for the Hawaiian feel we wanted and super comfortable, wherever you sat. The kitchen had plenty of kitchen utensils, pots and pans anything you could imagine to fix. It was great. The bathroom was great also. The shower had great water pressure and loved the overall look of the bathroom. You can’t beat the sunsets from the Lani. They were absolutely stunning. The Lani was a perfect setting to catch the morning breeze, lunch, and the amazing sunsets while having desserts, or drinks! If we could ever go again, we would want this exact place. It was beautiful and peaceful. Whenever we had questions Barry or Rhonda got right back to us. The pool area was great too, for families or just for two. YOU’LL love it!

Staying at the condo definitely felt like a home away from home. I’m so glad we decided to stay here it was a game changer I don’t think I’ll ever go back to renting hotel rooms again. The condo was super clean not just inside but outside the property as well. Barry & Rhonda had everything you could think of! My husband and I had the most relaxing two weeks than we’ve had in a while, in Barry and Rhonda’s wonderful condo in the beach. The condo is perfectly situated right on the water, just as the VRBO photos show. The laina was amazing - we could have stayed there all day, though it gets really hot in the afternoon. The living room is spacious, and we did yoga in the floor every morning, listening to the ocean waves, and using the yoga mats and blocks in the condo. Also, Barry was incredibly responsive and friendly when I needed to ask him questions. We were not disappointed!

After researching hotels in the same area that were twice the nightly rate and simply a small room with a bed, we decided to try renting a condo instead. I am so glad we did. The condo is very spacious, clean, and current. We spent so much time on the back patio because of the amazing views and privacy. There’s nothing better than drinking your morning coffee out there watching the whales.
The area is unbelievable too. The condo feels so private and calm but there are tons of restaurants and activities just minutes away. The food truck park being a quick walk away was so nice. Overall, we had an amazing experience on our first trip to Hawaii and our condo rental was a major factor!!!

Stocked insanely well. So many activities that you will want to do require equipment (snorkels, beach stuff, goggles, beach towels, etc) and they have it all. Pretty much everything we needed, they provided.
The views are literally incredible. We stayed there for 5 nights and then came to a resort in Wailea for 3 nights, and the views from MauiKai (this VRBO) are 10000x better. You are literally on the water at MauiKai, only a few rocks separate you. Both sides of the place has a beach, and the beach extends very far. Something to note is that nobody owns any part of the beach. You can go on ANY beach in Maui and have 100% right to do so. Look it up if you don’t believe me. Back to the views, incredible. Whales so much that you almost get used to it. They also provide binoculars that make it even better.
We used MauiKai as a staging ground to explore the island, and it was so nice waking up there and also falling asleep there. Both beds are comfortable, obviously one is a pullout but it’s still top quality.
There is so much more but if you get the chance to rent this, do it. So many places are dated. This is not. Surround sound, huge TV, amazing bathroom, quiet neighbors, and honestly you don’t really hear anyone else.

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved staying in unit 405. The view of the ocean is amazing. We liked that it was not a big resort type of place. The condo has absolutely everything you need: Full kitchen, nice furniture, comfortable king bed, tons of extra items that you could never find in a hotel room. We are very happy with our stay at this property, unbeatable ocean and sunset view from the lanai, newly remodeled, kitchen is well stocked and equipped, the grocery store is also within walking distance, it matches everything we could wish for our vacation.
I was concerned about the ocean wave sound at night, since the building is so close to the ocean, but it turned out the double glass doors design make the living space very quite at night, that's awesome. The only thing I could recommend for improvement is, just trying to make the condo 120% perfect, seems there is some gap between the shower glass door and shower wall, sometimes I noticed water splashing through the gap to the bathroom floor, may can use some extra seal strip.

The best feature of this place is the updated unit and lanai where you can get a 180 view. Car rental is strongly suggested. Also note that the high tide may affect beach accessibility.

Great stay overall and a beautiful unmatched view. It was well equipped with most everything and an especially extra nice touch for beach items. Only negative is that we did feel that the property could have used a bit more cleaning. When we entered the room, there was quite a bit of residue scattered on the floor. We ending up vacuuming and mopping. Additionally, we ending up with some ants in the kitchen which was observed on day 1 before taking out any food. The property manager was quick to respond and get the building manager to spray and set traps in the kitchen a couple of days later. A small hinderance which was mostly offset by the positive.

This property was absolutely perfect. We do not the resort vibe in Hawaii, so you won't find us at the Sheraton, Four Seasons, or anywhere else like that. We prefer the privacy and seclusion that houses provide but the convenience, location, and overall "niceness" that condos provide. Barry and Rhonda's place fit the bill perfectly. Amazing views, with the waves slapping the rocks literally right below you, a 4th floor view low enough to hear the waves but high enough to see for miles, and amenities that feel like they were updated tomorrow...very futuristic. The 75" behemoth of a TV in the living room and premium sound system made for relaxing evening after long days, and the kitchen was fully stocked...beyond even what we have in our own home. What more is that the whole condo was stocked with everything anyone would need for beach fun...multiple snorkel sets, beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and a compact/folding beach wagon. The high tech AC does the job when you need it to, but we preferred an open air feel- and the cross winds you get through the place when the bedroom window is open and the lanai doors are open was incredible.
Overall, we left telling each other that there wasn't a single thing we could complain about with this place. It was perfect. Thank you, Barry and Rhonda.

We loved staying at this condo. The view and lanai was spectacular! It was recently remodeled and felt very roomy and new. It was well stocked with everything you would need and you can tell it was very well thought out. We only had to reach out to the owners once and they were very accommodating. If we are really reaching for something to improve it would be a cordless vacuum and maybe a clothesline for wet beach items. Thats really more of an observation than a critique. The condo was excellent.
It was a great central location as well. Could walk to several nice beaches and only about 10 - 15 minutes from
downtown Lahaina. We definitely recommend staying here.

This condo was exactly what we were looking for. The owners clearly care a lot about the property and their guests’ experience. The condo was super clean on arrival and had a lot of little things that made the stay more convenient. The view is even better than advertised and we ate breakfast on the lanai every morning. My only suggestion would be to either replace the pull out couch (or add an air mattress) as the existing one is not comfortable and smells a little musty. All in all, an amazing rental and I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for comfort, cleanliness and an unparalleled view.

We needed a place to stay for three days until we checked in to our timeshare for a week. The condo was very nice and met all of our needs. The views were amazing. This condo is located in a beautiful spot right on the ocean. You can sit on the lanai and watch the sunset with nothing else in view but the ocean.
The unit is well stocked with all the beach items and kitchen gadgets you could need. We especially appreciated the coffee grinder and french press.
The area surrounding the condo is fairly busy and anything you might need is nearby.

The pictures don't do the view this property gives you justice. We watched the sunset over the ocean every evening and usually had a rainbow over the mountains on most mornings.
The location is very convenient with easy access to Kaanapali Beach, a shopping strip with a grocery store, and a food truck park are directly across the street.
Very nicely remodeled and everything we needed in the kitchen to cook meals at the condo. Both the bed and sofa bed were very comfortable and we easily slept four with plenty of room for all of our luggage.
We would definitely stay here again the next time we come to Maui. Mahalo for sharing your condo with us!

Our stay at unit 405 was fantastic! We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary and couldn't have picked a better location. The unit was beautiful with it's ocean front view! We loved sitting out on the lanai having our meals and watching and listening to the waves. Everything we needed was available to us, even aloe vera gel for one day when we got a little too much sun! There are shops and a grocery store within walking distance and Lahaina is only 10 minutes away by car. We enjoyed the lovely beach, driving adventures around the island and lots of shopping! The weather was perfect this time of year also. The property is an older facility but is extremely well maintained. The pool and hot tub area are very nice and there is also nice grills available. Hopefully we can return again in the near future. We wouldn't hesitate one bit to stay in unit 405 again! Thank you Jennifer & Charlie.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Maui Kai. The view is spectacular!!! We witnessed several incredible sunsets and sunrises from the lanai. We were fortunate to be there during the eclipse with the full moon and sunrise over the water at the same time. Loved looking out and seeing the islands of Lanai and Molokai everyday, and having breakfast on the lanai was delightful, to say the least. I loved looking down at the water coming right up to the front of the building and seeing and hearing the waves splashing over the rocks. We enjoyed all of the options of open air, screen and glass doors on the lanai. Also, we were able to snorkel right out by the Maui Kai and saw some really pretty fish. Black Rock is not far from the Maui Kai and we really enjoyed snorkeling there. We saw several sea turtles!
Jennifer is so nice and she made everything about renting this place so easy. She gave us explicit information about everything we needed to know. The view on the backside was amazing, too, with the trees by the pool and the mountains nearby. The pool is lit up with tiki torches at night which adds a lot of ambiance. We really enjoyed swimming in the pool and using the hot tub in the evenings as well as playing ping pong. Although we didn't have the time to grill, there are nice grills available and a nice kitchen area by the pool. I also liked that this was a quiet property, so peaceful day and night. We rented a car and there was plenty of parking in close proximity to the building. We needed the sleep sofa in addition to the bedroom (mother/adult son) and the living room is large enough to leave the sofa bed open in the living room. The only reason I didn't give the fifth star is that the bathroom is small and has a dated shower stall, but it was not a problem. I don't think we could have found a better place to stay for the money. I searched and searched "vrbo" for places on the water with a hot tub and was so glad to finally find it at the Maui Kai. As someone else mentioned, the kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed. If we were to return to Maui, we would not hesitate to rent this unit again. The views from this place were absolutely breath taking. Although the condo is older, it's location, the views, the cleanliness and the price cannot be beat!!! We had everything that we needed (including the comfiest king size bed!), it truly was a home away from home. The complex is extremely well kept as well. In addition, there is a plaza about 5 minutes away by foot which has a grocery store, coffee shop, fast food.....basically everything you could need at your door step. I would return to this condo in a heart beat. Maui was amazing.

This was our second trip to the Maui Kai. Jennifer and Charlie have a beautiful unit with beautiful views. The unit is very clean and comfortable. Everything you will need is in the unit. I highly recommend the Maui Kai unit 405. We will be back for sure.

We had an awesome time in Maui and could not have picked a better condo while we were there. So close to the ocean that we could almost touch it. Loved spending time on the lanai watching the the sea turtles, water activities and beautiful sunsets. The sea breeze and sound of the ocean rocked us to sleep every night. We were thrilled to find this great property for our stay in Maui. The owners are friendly and accommodating, and the location was ideal. The condo is perfectly situated to hear the ocean at night, and my teenage son LOVED sleeping on the lanai! The kitchen was well appointed, and the king-sized mattress in the bedroom was comfortable. We have stayed at the Maui Kai many times, and have stayed in several different units. This was our second stay in #405. We would have stayed in this unit more often, but it is in great demand and is not always available. The furnishings are upscale and very clean. The unit is well-equipped for activities, including beach chairs, coolers, etc. There is also a very nice pair of binoculars for whale watching or beach watching. The kitchen is equipped for cooking almost anything. The bed is very comfortable...we slept well.
This is more a review of #405, but I feel compelled to add some thoughts about the Maui Kai in general. It is an older building, but is very well maintained. It is a quiet place with nice folks. It is probably not a destination resort, but you don't pay the burden for all the resort amenities that you may or may not use. Parking is free and close. The pool and hot tub are on the small size - think "intimate" instead of small. The cadre of long- and short-term residents mostly gathers in the late afternoon near the pool and it is a great time to get local information and meet new friends. It is a very comfortable place with a very strong feeling of ohana (family).

The condo was clean, well located, and had the most terrific view of the ocean and islands one could ask for.
We used the pool once, and the hot tub twice. Both were well maintained. There is a terrific kitchen and game room, library, restrooms, BBQ, tables adjacent to the pool area.
Plenty of handicap parking (important for us).
Lots of cookware, dishes, etc. were provided. Beach chairs, noodles also provided as well as linens.
We were very pleased with dealings with the owner and would stay here again.

I WILL ADMIT I WAS SKEPTICAL ABOUT RENTING A CONDO W/O THESE APPLIANCES IN THE UNIT BUT FOUND THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE. VERY CONVENIENT.

PERFECT! WE WALKED FOR MILES EVERY DAY! LOVED IT! WE WALKED TO BLACK ROCK, WHALERS VILLAGE, AND EVEN FURTHER !

PARKING:
PLENTY OF FREE PARKING. THE ONLY ISSUE WE HAD THE ENTIRE MONTH WAS OUR CAR WAS DAMAGED 2X BY CARELESS PEOPLE. THE MAUI KAI DOES NOT HAVE SECURITY CAMERA'S IN THE PARKING LOT.
WE LOVED THE MAUI KAI - THIS CONDO WAS EVERY THING MY HUSBAND AND I WANTED FOR THIS SPECIAL RETIREMENT CELEBRATION. I HOPE SOME DAY WE CAN GO BACK.

We just returned from our stay here and absolutely loved it! The views are great from the living space of the condo and were wonderful on the lanai. We sat and had our meals out on the lanai and it felt like paradise. The beach is very convenient (4 floors down and you're there) and there's other nice beaches within a very short drive. This was a great spot to call home with overall great location and views, convenience to grocery stores and restaurants and the bed was comfortable for a good night's sleep! We would definitely recommend this listing for anyone looking to stay in the area! Jennifer was also quick to respond to any questions and was helpful offering suggestions for our activities while we were there.
