The property was exactly as described. Beautiful large fruit tree garden property within walking distance to Waianapanapa State Park's black sand beach. Home was very clean and well-stocked. The owner's housekeeper left fresh fruit for us on the day we checked in. Owner was very responsive to questions before our arrival.

This was an incredible house for our family summer vacation. My husband and I have visited Maui before, but this was the first time for the kids and they had an absolute blast. The house is at a great location - close to town and the beaches, and has everything you need for a Maui getaway.

Hāna is a lovely place away from any hustle or bustle! We enjoyed the beaches and parks very much. Frisbee in the yard amidst fruit trees was very fun. The home kept us well and well rested with all needed amenities available. Thank you so much!

Our only regret for our stay is that we didn’t plan to stay longer. For anyone who wants to experience relaxation in a quiet and lush paradise then Hana is the place for you. The property is beautiful, with a wonderful Lanai (patio) to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Many beaches within short driving distance and wonderful hikes nearby as well. The black sands beach is walking distance from the property, but you need a reservation to visit, even if you plan to walk there. So book that in advance of your trip. Also, Hana only has a general store and no major grocery chains so we would recommend stopping in the city for any essentials before making the trip to Hana. Would recommend a hundred times over and if we are lucky enough to get to visit Maui again we will definitely be back here.

This accommodation is centrally located to the town of Hana and the Waianapanapa State Park. The home is beautiful and clean inside with good privacy from neighbors. There are numerous fruit trees on the property (Citrus, avocado, star fruit) and it's a joy to pick. Fresh flowers are on the grounds as well. Wonderful having towels provided for the beach and a clothes washer. Would be nice to have had a bbq though. You are on the road to Waianapanapa State Park, but it is not an easy walk as this road is narrow and has a fair amount of tourist traffic, besides you need reservations whether driving or walking in. I would stay here again.

Perfect place to spend two nights in Hana. The house was clean and comfortable. The property was beautiful with a huge garden full of fruit trees. Sunrise from the deck was a perfect way to start the day. Convenient location on the street leading to the Waiʻānapanapa state park and a short drive into Hana.

We had a wonderful stay. Great location. Easy drive to Hana town and Kipahulu. Cottage had great amenities- toiletries in the bathroom, fully stocked kitchen, and beach chairs, foam cooler, boogie boards, and beach toys. Very close to Black Sand Beach but be sure to plan ahead and make reservations if you want to go. They won’t even let you go in on foot without a reservation.

Got there just before dark and ate our food-truck, takeout dinner. After a long flight and drive it was so relaxing to finally chill out. Stayed one night. Next day we enjoyed coffee, pastries and fruit on the patio, then hit up the state part when it opened at 7am. Hiked and swam, came back, showered and (sadly) had to check out for the next stop on our adventure. Perfect stay but way too short. Next time we’ll stay longer! So so nice!! Thanks for the accommodations :)

This house was Clean, private & spacious. Ideal for 4 people. Conveniently located within walking distance to the black sand beach. We enjoyed our stay very much. They have everything you’d need, even a yoga mat which made my mornings even better! Also, we enjoy the location, very Short drive to beaches, restaurants, food trucks & Hana farms.

The home was conveniently located to Waianapanapa State Park and was comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a meal. There was a lovely floral arrangement with native flowers for us to enjoy. The only negatives were no AC (one person in our party was quite uncomfortable due to the heat) and the barking of neighborhood dogs in the middle of the night. The dogs were out of the owner’s control, and it only occurred one of our two nights and didn’t last too long, but you might want to bring earplugs if this would bother you. With no AC it was necessary to have the windows open at night. The house stayed comfortable until around 10-11am when it began to become quite warm inside. But there was a lovely large yard, a nice outdoor eating area and a grill available. Outside was cooler and comfortable, so the heat wasn’t a problem if you plan to spend the afternoon and early evening outside or if you like it very warm.

We had real feel of Hawaii rich vegetation and fresh air at this place. Exactly what we were looking for. Relaxing, spacious, quiet and exotic. Fresh fruit stall was great, our fresh breakfast every day. 😋

The house was very comfortable and sits on a very large, beautiful yard. We loved getting to spend 2 nights in Hana. We walked to black sand beach and did many hikes while there. The location was perfect and quiet. It’s very peaceful and the owners put that extra touch with fresh tropical flowers and a bowl of fruit. I loved getting oranges from the trees on the property. It was a magical 3 days! I would definitely stay here again!

Through no fault of the property owner, we found the house without power from the recent major storms when we arrived. We found alternative accommodations for the night then returned to a great house with electricity. The home is comfortable with basic needs covered. We loved the proximity to the state park.

Sparkling clean, beautifully decorated and appointed from head to toe, perfect location, an acre of fruit trees to enjoy, solar hot water a bonus….perfect for two couples to enjoy together and have our own space…we didn’t want to leave and will definitely stay again if Jody will have us. As a super fussy Super host myself, I appreciate the attention to detail that makes this such a memorable experience/stay. Mahalo Jody.

Good place for a stay in Hanna. Need a car to get there and to the local shops etc. Short easy walk to black sand beach but you have to book a slot to visit it. Great facilities in the villa. Kitchen is quite compact and rather dark but overall a great place.

Fantastic property, more than exceeded our expectations. Beautiful lawn and tropical trees and plants. A short 5 minute drive to Black Sand Beach (Waiʻānapanapa State Park). Furnished very well, Direct TV's, just absolutely one of the best VRBO's we have stayed at. My wife and I, and our daughter and her husband had plenty of room in 2 bedrooms and spacious living area.

My experience is superb in every aspect. As a woodworker hobbyist I noticed many works and touches of another enthusiast. Many little details in this house struck me as genius approach to improvements. Thank you very much for the great experience. I have only one suggestion - in your first email to the guests please add a line saying “Note that visiting the Black beach requires a reservation now”. We had visited the Black beach in previous years and were quite unpleasantly surprised by this new state regulation.

October 2022
The house is exactly as described in the listing. The state park was at the end of the road we were staying on making our 7:00-10:00 reservation time great for us. The fruit trees and flowers made for a very relaxing place to come home to. We were only able to spend 2 nights in Hana but enjoyed our stay. The only suggestions I would make to improve the experience is if the deck was screened in to be able to keep mosquitoes off during the evenings and maybe some stronger floor fans. But was a great house and location overall.

September 2022
Lovely home on huge beautiful grounds with surrounding fruit trees on property. Well stocked kitchen and plenty of beach towels. All natural attractions are a short drive. No crowds usually in area. Quiet and peaceful at night to sit on big covered porch. Perfect getaway location and home!

August 2022
This house with its landscape is absolutely beautiful! We loved the decoration and the beds are so confortables! We were very happy to stay in Hana for two nights. The house is Ideally located close to wainapanapa State park. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too hot during nighttime if you open the windows. We recommend to close the lights in the evening to avoid the mosquitoes. The only thing I would say is the barking dogs. I highly recommend this place!! Thank you so much! What an experience to live in Hana ! Wow

July 2022
This is a wonderfully peaceful place. Woke up to birds and the distant sound of the ocean. It's on a "touristy" road and the traffic starts early. Sean greeted us and his local information and fruit were gracious and spot on. There is evidently a kennel of dogs nearby and the group would go off periodically throughout the day. We were out and about or loving our downtime. They only bothered us once. Wish we had booked another night. Truly lovely..

If you are wanting to stay in a wonderful property with plenty of privacy, space, comfort and a local feel of Hana then this is the place for you and your family! We really enjoyed our stay here and we were really happy with our opportunity to purchase fresh fruit from the stand out in front of the property. This really gave it that extra awesome feel of staying locally in Hana! Highly recommend and the state park is right down the road.

July 2022
Lovely home on the road to Wainapanapa! We've driven to Hana many times but as we are older I didn't want to do a one day again. Home has everything you could want. Was very warm when we got there but once we opened it up it was very comfortable.

July 2022
A nice house tucked away amid the jungle with a big yard and lots of fruit trees. Even though it's close to the highway, it's quiet most of the time. This was our 2nd visit to this property.

March 2022
We spent three nights so we could relax and explore all that Hana and the surrounding area has to offer. Jody's home was the perfect fit for us as it is located on the road to Black Sands state park but only a 3 minute drive into town. The home was well furnished, comfy beds, clean, beach chairs/toys, etc. but best of all sits on an acre of well maintained property. Hosts are super with communication. We plan to stay again only for a much longer visit. Highly recommend.

March 2022
Beautiful property in a very quiet location. Close to town and just up the street from Waianapanapa State park. Make sure you get reservations in advance for the park as parking is limited. It is worth the extra effort! The house is cute and well stocked with everything you neeed. We found the furniture to be a bit uncomfortable, otherwise we enjoyed it very much!

March 2022
Property was great, a lot of fruit trees. Deck was used a lot. Loved the whole experience in the home. Unexpected thoughtfulness, fresh cut flowers, fruit, avocado. All the amenities were great and spot on, inside and out. Decor was great for island life, feel.

November 2021
Located on beautiful grounds with fruit trees, this cottage is charming and comfortable. There are many beautiful beaches including a red sand beach, and a breathtaking hiking trail through a bamboo forest to Waimoku falls inside Haleakala National Park. The one thing I suggest is to add more lighting in the kitchen and living room.

October 2021
We loved our stay at your cottage. The property was so open and airy. We wished we had more time to enjoy the property, but we were off exploring the area most of the time. This house is a great play to stay to explore the many amazing things to do in the area. The fresh fruit and flowers were a special touch! Highly recommend at least a couple of nights here to relax and enjoy Hana.

September 2021
The place was magnificent and I felt blessed to be there. Plenty of amenities in the kitchen. The grounds and home were immaculate. It was so peaceful at the home. Only issue was the dryer was broken. Although there was a clothesline, it was raining and we had brought minimal clothing so it was an inconvenience for us.

We had a great time staying on this side of the island. The house was very nice and clean. The property is beautiful. It was nice having the little fruit stand at the road to purchase fresh fruits. overall I recommend staying here for at least 1 night so you can explore the area better.

The place exceeded expectations from what I saw in the photos. Very spacious, updated, and clean. I would book again for sure. I stay in 4 and 5 star resorts on vacations when possible and found this place to be very comfortable. I would suggest they redo the photos on their listing.

My family loved the grass lawn full of fruit trees. Only thing it's missing is a hammock to chill in.

September 2018
Slept 5 people here. The house was beautiful and very homey. The kitchen was somewhat stocked with spices and sauces. The beds were soft and there where nice coaches and a futon for lounging. The house was warm with decent fans, not much AC. We really enjoyed the fruit trees on the property. It felt like an authentic Hawaii stay. The location is awesome if you want to get away from crowds. 2 hour drive from Kahului. Road to Hana is beautiful, but lots of one way bridges and curves made it unpleasant for the family. Jody and dick really maintain the property and the house, it is well taken care of and I would definitely go back again. They were very flexible and communicative which was a plus. The location was very close to a beautiful state park and some really nice beaches. Black sand beach, red sand beach. Koki beach amongst others. Over all really loved it

June 2018
The cottage was perfect; well appointed, spotless, comfortable, and private. Just a short walk to a beautiful black sand beach. Couldn't ask for a better spot in Hana. I wish we hadn't spent the first leg of our trip in Lahaina and just come here for the entire vacation instead. Thanks, Jody!

June 2018
We stayed here during our trip down the Hana Highway and hiking at Haleakala National Park. The house was spacious and comfortable for our family of five, and conveniently located near several great food trucks and roadside stands along the Hana Highway. There is a very informative binder in the house with information about hiking, beaches, and eating out. The grounds are beautiful, with several flowering plants and many fruit trees. A suggestion for the owner would be to include pictures of each tree in the binder and how to tell if the fruit is ripe, as some of the fruit trees/bushes were not immediately obvious (we could easily identify the bananas, papaya, and avocados, but there were others we did not know). All in all, a pleasant place to stay!

Thank you so much for the beautiful cottage. We loved it! We only stayed 2 quick nights and it suited us perfectly. We had one rainy morning to relax in a peaceful, comfortable space before heading into Hana town and to do some waterfall hikes. Entry and departure were both extremely easy.

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely house in Hana. A beautiful arrangement of flowers greeted us and we couldn't have asked for a more lovely time. Lovely house and spacious yard. Close to parks and beaches. We would definitely stay here again!

November 2017
Very comfortable house, exactly as described. Fully equipped kitchen. Lovely location with a huge yard full of fruit trees and a passion fruit vine. Very short walk to beautiful black sand beach and close to many other beautiful beaches and the beach end of the national park which is great for hiking. We were very happy here. Note: Hana is thin on grocery stores, so if you want to do any substantial cooking, buy your meat and fish before you get there. Eggs, milk, butter, fruit, etc. are all available in Hana.

We loved staying at the Luana Cottage. The best part was waking up and picking fresh fruit for our smoothies. Close proximity to the black sand beach and other sights made this location perfect for us since we are traveling with a toddler.

We arrived later in the day than planned and had a little trouble finding the place, but no other hitches once we did. The home was beautiful and perfect for our family of 5. We didn't have great weather but still had fun exploring Hana - the location of this home is perfect. Right next to the black sand beach and close driving distance to MANY other sights! Our favorite part was definitely explore the property and all the fruit trees! It was amazing to have fresh fruit for breakfast every morning :) Definitely recommend and would love to stay again myself! Thanks again Jody for everything, we really enjoyed our stay and appreciated your hospitality!

April 2017
We enjoyed our 2 night stay in Hana very much. The property has all of the features you would expect (nice kitchen, WIFI, cable), and the yard and the fresh fruit are unique and wonderful. When we arrived, there were two beautiful flower arrangements, and all kinds of picked fresh fruit. The state park is minutes down the road. The beaches in and beyond Hana were fantastic.

Stayed 3/22/16-3/24/16 (2Nights) Arrived at the Home a little after 3pm drove right in and unpacked. Jody (owner) emailed simple instructions on how to get to her property and also how to let ourselves in couple weeks prior to arrival. Booking, payment, check in and check out was easy breezy. I've stayed at many different properties in Hana and this by far is My Favorite. Welcomed with fresh fruits and a beautiful flower bouquet, newly renovated Home, comfortable beds and equipped with everything that was needed, just like I was at my own home. We stocked up on groceries before we made our journey out to Hana and made home cooked meals for our stay. Right down the road is Wainapanapa Park. We were able to beat the busy crowd and actually enjoy the Park in the morning then through out the day explored other areas of Hana. Will definitely be coming back! Thank You

We stayed at Jody's house on the last leg of our vacation. When we opened the door, the universal reaction was "Wow". The house is on the access road to a beautiful black sand beach with a bluff that gives a great view of the sunrise (see attached photo). It's just a few miles short of Hana town, a string of beautiful beaches and great hiking. The 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A few survival notes for Hana. Pack water shoes that protect your toes. You'll find yourself taking hikes over rough terrain that end in swimming so you'll want wet/dry foot protection. There is no A/C in the house, but you can get a decent breeze going with the ceiling fans and standing fans. Sleeping for us in early July was not an issue. Jody's house has fresh fruit growing outside, and is about 10 miles (45 min up the road by car on the winding road) from ONO farms which I highly recommend a visit to. The upside to being on an access road to a beach is that you can walk to the water. The downside is that any road in Hana that has beach access is busy with tour trucks in the mid to late morning. I only mention that in case you've got small children. Beach traffic was not an issue unique to Jody's house and it was not anything that got in our way of walking to or enjoying the beach. Hana town which consists of two general stores, a restaurant, some food trucks, and a gas station. Pack some staple foods like milk, eggs, coffee, and snacks as Hana town is a pricey and everything closes by 7:30 PM except the really expensive restaurants. We ate multiple meals at the burrito truck and they were exceptional and reasonably priced. I would definitely be a repeat visitor with Jody.

Great Hana Home, Very clean and well kept!!!!

January 2013
The property exceeded all my expectations - spacious, very well maintained, conveniently and tastefully furnished, and best positioned to be close to the Waianapanapa State Park (walking distance to the beach), and to the Hana Highway (less than 10 minutes of driving to get to any place in Hana). A garden with enormous grass lawn, surrounded by papaya, banana, lemon, coconut trees, various tropical flowers, and many others exotic plants I’d never known names of, is best viewed from the large elevated lanai with convenient chairs, table, and grill. In the morning, you can spot mongooses playing in the garden, and in the evening watch numerous geckos hunting bugs under the lanai roof. Counting them was one of the best parts for our kids! On the arrival, we were greeted with branch of rape bananas hanging from the porch, plate of exotic fruits, and the most beautiful bouquet of tropical flowers! Pictures of our teenage daughters with the bouquet will make a definite highlight of their Facebook timeline. We spent 4 nights in Hana, and can’t possibly imagine how people making one-day trip to Hana consider they’ve seen any of the island’s beauty. Our family loves traveling and exploring new places, and we’ve had enough to do every day of our stay. We would spend more time there if the vacation was any longer… All our family would love to return there again!

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
