BEACHES & CRITTERS: The beach size in Hawaii varies month to month due to heavy surf, strong currents and tides. Due to Maui’s rural atmosphere you may experience the occasional rooster, as well as harmless geckos. Geckos are friendly, eat insects, and are considered good luck in Hawaii. Please don’t kill them.
IMPORTANT: Although the HOA schedules regular professional pest control services, pests such as ants, roaches and rodents simply cannot be completely controlled in the tropics. Hawaii is located in a tropical climate, and insects, rodents and lizards flourish in this environment. If our guest spot more than the normal expected pests, we always make our best efforts to contact and work with the HOA to minimize your interactions with these pests. Any contact with such pests within or outside the unit does not constitute a breach of this Agreement or give Guest any right to any refund or rental adjustment.
**We make no guarantee that properties adjacent to the Unit will be free from disturbances, including but not limited to noise or inconvenience from construction, traffic or other guests or neighbors. By booking your stay with us, you accept that Host is not liable for any inconveniences arising from any temporary defect or stoppage in supply of water, electricity, air conditioning or plumbing that is beyond their control. The picture of the view does not give it justice. The view from the lanai was beautiful, full ocean view.
The room was clean and super nice. There were beach chairs, kids sand toys and a couple ice chest in the room. We didn’t see an umbrella though, so you may want to buy one or rent one.
The room came with everything, even starter stuff as coffee filter, laundry detergent and etc. the coffee pot is not a pod one in case you want to buy some coffee for the room. We were able to cook in the kitchen most nights because the room had everything you needed, probably the most stalked kitchen most units have.
This is our 5th time at this hotel and will definitely rent this room again. If you are looking for a beautiful room, stalked supplies and an incredible view look no further.

Kaanapali Shores is great for location. Also has live entertainment by the pool. Coffee shop. Pool restaurant has good food. The o my downside is the staff at front desk is not helpful if you rent from VRBO. They will not help you with anything if you rent from third party. We couldn’t even use the bell cart or bell man - which only hurts their employees as they’re missing out on tips. Otherwise it is an amazing spot!

We have stayed at Kaanapali Shores for 5 other trips, all in a different unit. Each stay has been amazing. We have also stayed at 3 other properties but once we discovered this one, we keep coming back. It is conveniently located near great beaches, restaurants, and shopping. It’s on site amenities are great as well. (Restaurant, pools, shops,) This particular unit was the first we have tried on the ground floor, and while it’s convenient to step out of the lanai and walk a few steps to the beach, restaurant, or pool, you really sacrifice a view. If you stand up at the far left side of the lanai you can see the water. So if an ocean view is your goal, you need to move up a few floors. And while you can step outside you can’t lock the lanai door from the outside so you have to use the main door off the hallway and this unit is the very last one down a very long hallway. With luggage, or arm loads of beach gear, or even just a purse it’s a very long walk to the parking lot or anything else. The unit is very clean and had everything we needed. The couch is very small and there’s really no seating unless you sit at the dining table but that wasn’t a huge issue for us. It’s just an awkward layout design. Be very careful with the bed in the master bedroom because it is a platform bed with low sharp corners and I ran into it and gave my shin a nasty welt and bruise on the first day. Looks beautiful and was comfortable to sleep on but a bit dangerous since it’s the same color as the floor and blends in, making it hard to see. The property manager was very responsive, we had one issue with the twin beds not being converted to a king as we had requested. Due to the very late check in times they offer there wasn’t time for anyone to fix the issue so they offered to come back the next day. We made due and they fixed it the next day. That bedroom also gets baked in the afternoon sun and doesn’t get great air flow unless the door is open so if it’s the summer time you will need to keep the shades drawn and fan on high. And previous reviews mentioned about the curtains on the sliding glass door not closing and they’re right! About a 5 inch gap that you can’t securely shut. If they had a clip to pinch it shut at the top it would feel more private. But overall this is a really nice unit, at a great ocean front property, with wonderful amenities and great staff. We would stay at the property again but next time we will move back up a few floors for a view.

We've stayed here twice and had a wonderful vacation each time. The property has a lot of options for kids--pool, beach, games, and shops. We've stayed at quieter locations on the island that worked well for large groups and young children, but this property suits our family (kids between 10-15) well now. The property is mid-way between simple condo and fancy resort, so it is the best of both worlds. Our condo was perfect for our family of five and had everything we needed. The first floor spot was ideal. We had an ocean view from the patio and instant access to the pool and beach. It is across from the restaurant. So, while convenient, it was loud during the day. It isn't an ideal location if you want to nap. There is live music periodically--and it feels like you are in the first row, even with the doors closed. Overall though, we'd stay again.

We decided to take a vacation to celebrate our sons high school graduation. The VRBO exceeded our expectations. The location of the unit was steps away from the pool and the beach. We were close to the grocery store, food trucks, and restaurants. We loved Black Rock Beach which was a 5 min drive. We hope to return to Maui and return to this unit.

Pros:
Great location by the beach and easy access to the pools.
Nice decor and amenities. Starter packs for every appliance were provided.
Love the smart TVs which have the streaming apps. (Which most people left logged into their accounts after leaving).
No issue with bugs even after leaving food out overnight.
Love the beach stuff like coolers and chairs.
Cons:
Both pools are on the small side considering the number of people.
For a unit that services 4 people the seating didn’t make sense. Only three couch seats, and two beach chairs. They did bring two additional beach chairs for us to use in and out of the unit which helped but needs more couch seating.
Wi-Fi was pretty slow, only about 15 Mbps up and down.
Bug deterrent devices take up half of the plugs in the kitchen. Need more plugs in there.
Washer and Dryer in kitchen loud as hell.
Curtains in living room can’t close all the way and when you are on the ground floor it’s bothersome to think people can just look into your unit.
Front room TV is loud in bedrooms due to lack of sound dampening.
No snorkel equipment and fins are tiny and old.
Air conditioning struggled constantly and property manager ignored our concerns about it.
Lack of communication from property manager on service issues. They responded to 1 in 5 concerns and ignored the rest.

Our initial impression of the condo was very good, they did do a very nice job of updating the property and it looks just as pictured in the photos and we loved the location of the condo which made it super convenient to have access to the pool area. However, we did notice some issues as we walked in which where that almost half of the light switches in the condo are non operable, there was a light bulb missing in one of the lamps in the master bedroom which made the condo very dim. Not sure if this was done on purpose for what we found next.
The first couple of days we were out and about so we didn't spend much time in the condo or even bring in food to notice, but on the 3rd day coming back from an eventful day at the Road to Hana as my mother turned on the lights in the kitchen, we were surprised with an infestation of cockroaches scattering all over the counters, stove and sink. We caught this all on video and photos. We then turned on the dim lighting in the living room to see these roaches crawling all along the walls on the other side of the kitchen. We went into the rooms to immediately pick up our luggage that we left on the floor, only to find even more roaches crawling on the floor in the bedroom. This was simply not acceptable to us as these bugs can easily crawl into your luggage or clothes and bring them back home with you. So at 9PM when this all happened we made the very necessary decision to pack all of our things and find last minute accommodations else where and we are talking about the middle of the Summer where it is nearly impossible to find last minute rooms at an affordable price, so we had to pay for very expensive rooms at a nearby hotel. Prior to this, we did go to the front desk of the resort to let them know that we were checking out and why and they simply told us that there was nothing that they could do because they were not responsible for privately owned condos. I emailed Lisa with Paradise Properties to let her know as well that we had checked out of the property and why, we sent her the photos and video for proof and asked for a full refund. She was not very happy about my request and made snarky and rude comments via email to us and told us that we should NOT travel to tropical areas as this was supposed to be normal. My family and I travel to tropical areas all the time and have NEVER experienced such an infestation and such unprofessionalism from an owner of a property or hotel staff. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

This condo is perfect. The two rooms are spacious and the five of us fit very comfortably. The location is so great. And for little ones, the linai feels even more private than the photos can show and they played out there in the shade when it was a bit too hot for the water. 10/10 recommend this spot!
