Perfect location for North shore activities. It’s literally only 1.5 miles from Hanalei, which is my favorite place to be. Close to Tunnels also for great snorkeling. The house is very well stocked with everything you might need. Beach chairs, beach towels, mask & snorkels & water shoes. The kitchen has everything you’ll need. Just bring the food. Would definitely stay here again.

This property was exactly as pictured and we enjoyed our stay here very much. The location was great and the house was very clean and comfortable. It was right off a busy road and there was some road noise but it didn't last all night and didn't bother us. This property does not have A/C which was an oversight on my part to review but there was a nice cross-breeze which meant we had to leave the patio doors open (and they didn't lock which was somewhat alarming (at night) for those of us that lock our doors 24/7). Also, not a deal breaker but it was annoying there was no dishwasher detergent (kitchen)or hand soap (kitchen and both bathrooms). A big plus there was washer/dryer (there was detergent pods for that but I had brought my own for that!)

We absolutely loved the serenity of the home. So warm and welcoming. We always prefer a cozy more traditional Hawaiian home than a new ridiculous over priced house! Home had all amenities needed. Very warm welcoming and obviously decorated with love. Beautiful antique pieces of furniture were a beautiful. Layout was great and so much privacy. The lush landscape and surrounding lanai were perfect for relaxing and watching the sunset! Very family friendly! Owner extremely nice and very easy to communicate with! Thanks for sharing your home with us! We truly enjoyed our week stay and would definitely return! The Woowards from Texas!

Hanalei Vista House is such a gem! The location is fantastic — with stunning views of the garden and water/mountains. Jane is a wonderful host — great communication and very helpful with all questions. We were thrilled the second we walked in the door. It’s so comfortable and homey. We loved sitting on the deck for coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening. We are anxious to return to Kauai and Hanalei Vista House.

Myself and 3 of my girlfriends booked this house for our stay on Kauai. The home sits on the hillside facing Hanalei Bay and is about 2 miles from downtown Hanalei. There is a beautiful garden and Mountain view from the large deck and living room/kitchen area. 3 good sized bedrooms and the loft has 2 single beds as well. There is also a large comfy couch. I found nothing to be misrepresented in the VBRO listing for this home. Things that I felt should have been mentioned based on experiences during our stay: The home is right on the main road and you will hear road noise from the home and the deck. It is quiet at night. It is also very near the fire station and we did hear activity related to storms in January. We were unsure during our stay but it appears someone may be living in a separate unit under the house. We did not see or hear them. The one garbage can provided was being used by a neighbor? The can was emptied our first day there and when we were checking out the can was half full of someone else’s garbage. As a result we did not have enough room for our garbage. No recycle can is provided and I am unsure if Kauai has a recycle program. We had a fabulous stay on Kauai and loved this home. None of the items listed above cramped our style but I can see how not knowing about them could be an issue for some folks. Bonus items: Beach toys, towels, sunscreen, and aloe were found in the home. The kitchen is well stocked to cook many meals. I would definitely stay here again

4 of us celebrated major anniversaries, and were so glad we booked here! The view of Hanalei Bay was amazing, and the "jungle" surrounding us was fascinating. Yes, there is road noise, but it tapers off after dark and we are so glad we stayed here. The lighting in the bedrooms could be better, but the location can't be beat. Close to beaches, shops and beautiful views.

We loved our stay. Waking up and drinking coffee to the view is memorable. There was very good communication before our stay with detailed instructions. If you have a bigger family this is definitely the hot spot. Very close to Hanalei Beach, Restaurant and Gift shops.

Best features: The place is lovely with beautiful views and is conveniently located to all the beautiful north island areas/opportunities. Host is great - communicative, responsive, helpful, kind. The large bedroom has an especially comfortable bed (the other double beds were decent too - but the king bed stood out). We loved our stay and would recommend it as a place to book.
Considerations worth highlighting - you really do need a car to get anywhere off the property - the main road is not safe for pedestrians until you get down to the Hanalei beach area or into a town. The bedrooms are on the main road side of the house, so light sleepers would want to consider earplugs as traffic sounds ramp up on the early side of the morning. Also, the loft beds are probably best suited to kids (or shorter adults).

Jane and her Hanalei Bay property are both awesome!!
Our trip was a rescheduled family adventure from 2020. First off, Jane was super understanding about the cancellation back when Covid hit. I had fallen in love with the property online and was so pleased to be able to book it again.
Jane has also been a pleasure to work with on our 2023 trip, offering suggestions on shopping and eateries which were spot on. Our visit felt very personal.
The property itself is a dream. I never tired of looking at the bay view through the trees. The birds and the trees in the yard are amazing. The house has an island feel, from its furnishings to its art. Even when it rained, we enjoyed the view from the sheltered deck.
Beds were comfortable and the house very spacious.The washer dryer came in handy for us as we had a stay of several days. The kitchen worked well for us. Everything was clean and in good working order.

Many of our mornings and evenings were spent on the lanai enjoying the beautiful views of the garden and ocean. We had sufficient space for the seven of us. Directions to the property and the check in process was simple. While there we prepared many of our meals at the home. The kitchen was stocked with a variety of spices and a few condiments as well. We enjoyed our visits to Hanalei and the beautiful beaches on the north shore. Jane communicated well with my questions before and during our stay. We loved our stay at the HVH. Instructions to find the house made it super simple, and the location was fantastic. Great view from the balcony overlooking the Hanalei Valley, and we loved all the different trees in the backyard. Would highly recommend this place for your Kauai vacation!

This home was every thing we hoped for!! We considered condos but having our own home with the amazing view, wrap around porch, laundry, clothes line, room to spread out was just what we needed. Directions & check in was seamless. Host was excellent in communicating and we were blessed to be able to meet her while we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed the windows & views....the pictures cannot even do it justice. I am still dreaming about that view! It was incredible to be able to fall asleep at night to the sound of the rain showers and then wake up to a spectacular sunrise over Hanalei bay. We planned to visit mostly north shore sights so this location was perfect. We could swim at Hanalei bay and be home in 10 minutes. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and were thankful to find a small cooler and some beach chairs to use as well. I can't recommend this GEM enough and we hope to visit again some day and stay here. Mahalo for the hospitality.

The property surrounding the home was great. Some beautiful species of trees out the front. Place was clean and had lots of room with the three bedrooms. Needed the internet and worked with the owner to get it up and running. Traffic was a little noisy as the main road is nearer than we thought. Lots of supplies in the kitchen.

Overwhelmingly beautiful view, spacious, comfortably appointed gathering space in the open living and kitchen that adjoin a wraparound deck. The kitchen is more than adequate and there were a number of available supplies such as salt and pepper, spices, other condiments. There’s a well stocked grocery .5 miles away. Check in was painless—all instructions were received well in advance. It’s really great to have a washing machine, dryer, beach chairs and sand toys (for little ones). We would definitely stay again. Be aware that the loft and its 2 beds are accessed via one of the bedrooms via a steep ladder. Probably AOK for teens but not elders or little kids. This house was perfect for our 6 days in paradise with close access to Hanalei Bay.

This home surpassed all my expectations and truly was the missing piece in our stay in Kauai. The house is quite charming as it is a typical Hawaiian-style home where you can hear and admire the beautiful nature that you are surrounded by. The house was well-equipped in the kitchen, bathrooms, and linen closets. The balconies overlook a lush green garden with a mountain towards the direction of Hanalei. Conveniently located 1 min in car away from a Foodland (popular grocery chain) and 7 min in car away from the popular town of Hanalei. I am already looking forward to coming back to this gem whenever I’m in Kauai next. Thank you, Jane, for sharing this home for others to enjoy!

I have never booked property before using VRBO and it was wonderful because of working with Jane.
Our flight coming in was a late check in. All the lights were on and the house opened so we did not struggle in the dark with anything.
We had 4 adults and so much space! The house was perfect and the description was spot on.
You do have neighbors that are not a bother. The grocery store is wonderful and very close. They open early and stay open late as well. The house is stocked with a few kitchen pantry needs to get you started. You have everything you need to cook meals in and so many restaurants close by if you do not want to cook.
So much to do on the island it is surreal.
You will not be sorry that you booked this house, but you will be sorry if you do not.

We (5 of us) came in for a wedding. This property was PERFECT for our group. Everyone had their own bed, with room to spare in the house. We made breakfast every morning and enjoyed the HUGE wrap-around porch. The house was the perfect location to everything. We are going to miss staying at this house together.

The location and views can’t be beat! The sunsets on the porch each night were incredible, and the rental is conveniently close to all the major attractions and must sees/dos on the north shore. We loved just sitting out on the patio surrounded by all the amazing plants.
There’s a small shopping center just up the road to grab all the essentials (including filling up water jugs at the gas station for $0.50 - awesome!)
The lack of a/c was not an issue at all despite the higher temps while we were there. The kitchen was well stocked and the rooms were nicely sized too. It was also convenient to be able to do a load of laundry before heading home. Highly recommend - we would absolutely stay here again!

This house is set in the most incredible setting, with beautiful plants surrounding the whole house. Very relaxing sitting on the Lanai and very private; felt like you were in your own little paradise.
The House had everything we needed and was very comfortable for four of us. We especially loved the location of the Home.

The views from the home are amazing. We loved to eat outside and watch the sun shine on the mountains and set over the ocean. It felt like a private tropical paradise. The home is close to North Shore’s amazing beaches and trails. The owner was easy to work with and responsive if we had questions. The home is big enough to bring a family. We will be visiting again sometime soon!

It was perfect for our family of 7. Plenty of room for all. We shared two bathrooms and an outside shower which was great from when we came back from the beach. We did not do any cooking, but the kitchen seem to have all the necessary goods. The owner wrote a note about possible bugs since it is a tropical environment, but we had no encounters, just a sweet gecko. The house has no AC, but it had plenty of fans. I just wished that the sliding door next to the kitchen had a screen so we could air out the house, but otherwise it was great. The views were fantastic. Location was great. Not hard to find. Having a washer and dryer was a plus. Had a great time. House was clean. It did need some updates, but everything worked. Would recommend to a large group. Would certainly stay again if available.

This is a wonderful property. Close to a grocer and all the beaches we want to go to. House was perfect for our large group of 6 people and we enjoyed every moment. It was a perfect home-base and glad is it is located on the North side of the island which is quieter than other parts and we didn't mind the drive over to the other 'sides' at all because we knew we had an oasis to come home to.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was great for the four of us (two couples)—well equipped for cooking and sharing meals, for reading, and the beds were comfortable. We especially enjoyed the beautiful views, and it was a great introduction to some of the birds of Kauai. Sometimes we heard road noise, but that is what it is. A nightlight for the bathrooms would be helpful. Jane was great, and communication was excellent.

We had a great time here. The house is beautiful, furniture is vintage and well taken care of. You can tell from the moment you walk in this house is loved. We stayed in a few houses on our month long visit but this was my favorite home. Great communication with the owner and cleaning staff. Very helpful!
The only reason we didn’t stay longer is the house was booked. Honestly I would pay more to stay here. Great price for the house, views, near town, and communication.
We will definitely be staying here again as we do come to the island often.

We loved the location and far preferred it to staying in a resort because it felt more local and authentic. The views of lush vegetation from the lanai and main room/kitchen were our favorite feature - it felt very private and tropical. Though not in pristine condition, the house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We would definitely rent it again!

This house was just as advertised, but better! The views of Hanalei Bay and surrounding trees and foliage from the wrap around lanai were amazing! The house is spacious with 3 rooms, plus the upstairs loft, which my kids loved! It is well stocked with kitchen items and all the beach gear you’d need.
The one thing to note is that it’s right off the main road so you will hear slight car noise. On the plus side, it was very quiet at night and we loved keeping all the windows open. Also, the location gives you access to the beach and shops within 5 minutes!
I cannot recommend the house enough! Jan was a wonderful host and we’d love to stay in her beautiful home again!

We had a great time staying at the Hanalei house. The traditional and spacious house seemed to have been built to be in harmony with its environment. It had excellent natural lighting with generous lanai as an outdoor entertaining space…a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the beautiful green belt surrounding the house. The open carports were a plus. The appliances were in working conditions. The WiFi was fast enough, although it did not reach the master bedroom at times. Minimal traffic noise could be heard from inside the house due to the close proximity to the Kuhio street.
The host, Jane, was very approachable and responsive to our needs.

The Hanalei Vista House was perfect for us. Close to the shops and grocery market of Princeville and the beautiful secluded beaches, yet close to Hanalei Bay and the more popular beaches to the west.
Hanalei Vista House immediately impressed us from the door opening. The large windows lined 1/2 of the house (the living room, dining and kitchen areas), and provided us with a great view of the tropical foliage in the large yard. In the early mornings, I enjoyed sitting in a sofa chair along the long lanai drinking coffee and gazing at what I considered was my paradise. The bedrooms were located on the other half and were comfortable, with two full bathrooms that were well-equipped.
The classic home is accentuated with wood, high vaulted ceilings and bamboo wooden floors with area rugs. For our adult-age family, the house gave us plenty of space and room to freely move around.
Hanalei Vista House is a beautiful and an architecturally unique house that most travelers would feel comfortable, and wish to find a way to extend their trip.
The host/owner Jane is super communicative and quick to reply, helping with directions, great restaurants in the Hanalei/Princeville area, popular beaches to the west, & to the more secluded beaches around Princeville and Kilauea in the North Shore.
Btw, close to the Hanalei Vista House is the Old Plantation Road. The very short drive takes you to a small popular food stand with a great view of the Hanalei Valley and surrounding mountains, and you can then take a 20 minute tropical foliage walk to the eastern side of Hanalei Bay, and if lucky, find the path to a small beach. It's all beautiful...of course....it's paradise!

Perfect getaway close to great beaches and hiking. The house is large and so much better than the photos. During the pandemic, it was so nice having a fantastic kitchen to prepare meals, and the lanai was perfect for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Very comfortable and the owner, Jane, was great. Would definitely stay here again.

We were not quite sure what to expect as this was our first time visiting Kauai. We had advice to stay on the north shore but that was it. The Hanalei Vista was the perfect balance between Hanalei proper and Princeville. Amazing views, comfortable setting, what more could you ask for? Jane was an excellent host and provided easy, direct communication as well as a suite of advice and recommendations. 5 stars.

Jane's wood-beamed house felt like an airy bird aviary-- except the birds were outside. It was delightful to wake up to bird calls and look out at palm trees and banana trees loaded with coconuts and bananas. It is truly a rain forest paradise with an old Hawaii feel. Both manicured Princeville and beachy Hanalei were within easy reach for dining and shopping. Even the scheduled road closures due to the landslide didn't have much of an impact on our ability to get around.

We stayed here for a week and the house is great for all essentials. Quirky and beautiful details all around, beautiful deck overlooking a large garden. We loved eating and drinking on the deck.
There is no AC (common) so it’s quite impossible to be indoors during the summer days, however, it is a nice temperature during the mornings and nights.
(2021 Mudslide) The house is located right at the cut off point of the highway, so it makes it tricky to access it during road construction and it’s close to enough to the road to hear cars and machinery. Bathrooms are a bit dated and could use new shower curtains and shower head, so keep expectations low. There are only 4-5 mugs and glasses, increasing the stock of the kitchenware would be great!

The house was ok and the location is close to hanalei with plenty of space for the 3 of us. I came with my best friend and 5 year old son who started his life in hanalei. We came to scatter the ashes of his mother who has recently passed and to take some photos as a travel photographer. I have stayed in hundreds of homes all over the world as a travel photographer and since i live in hawaii.. .hundreds more in hawaii all over. I love the area and although we were not at the house much it had everything we needed. We washed our dished and left our trash out by the curb double bagged and even vacuumed the carpets before leaving. Imagine my surprise when i get home to receive this message from the owner " There were maggots , which I hope I
got all of, found them in the kitchen by trash can and on the carpet and
rug by the slider door".
This was totally unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of respect for the
house and for my cleaner. I charged you for cleaning which is the
normal charge by my cleaner for respectful, fairly diligent departing
guests. Jane"
I don't even know where to begin - there were no maggots when we left but could a fly have gotten in a house in the middle of a rainy jungle? with eggs hatching after we left? sure.
They weren't there when we left - and again we washed all the dishes and took the trash to the curb when we left. It is possible a fly got in and the eggs hatched after we left - I don't feel that is a good enough reason to be so rude. I live here - i know there are ants and bugs, gecko's, mosquitoes, and after a rain they can sometimes be a pain. I bleach my trash cans at home and keep them under the kitchen sink. ...I should have known when Jane emailed 4 times about the check coming in the mall on time even though it was mailed the fasted possible way at the post office with tracking, that she might be just in it for money with no aloha.. I run a customer service business as a nature photographer and I cant remember ever calling a customer disrespectful. ...and Jane you are all the way on the mainland so you really have less of an awareness what happened than anyone.. ...just assume the worst seems to be the case with you?

If it was my business - i would have just paid the extra small fee and cleaned the bugs.. ..maybe moved the trash in the kitchen to under the sink behind a cabinet.. done!

Three of us, all adults, rented this beautiful cedar home with an amazing view of Hanalei and the bay. The home was just as advertised by the owner, who could not have been more helpful. No detail was overlooked. Everything was as good or better than we expected. The home was extremely clean, well maintained and stocked with plenty of necessities. The home is extremely convenient to a full service Foodland!.
We enjoy hiking, so the trek from Ke'e Beach to Hanakapia'ai Falls was a given. Little did we know, we could carve out daily short hikes from the Hanalei Vista House to the bay!
We will return and if you are thinking about this home, stop thinking and make your reservation
