If you're looking or a great house on the beach in Kauai, look no further. In the garage, one will find beach umbrellas, chairs, and a cooler for your forays to local beaches and an extra fridge. Once inside, you'll find a clean, spacious house with a very well appointed kitchen, all bedrooms have air conditioning, all the towels you could possibly need. Out the back door is the ocean view lanai where we spent a lot of our time, watching beautiful sunsets every night from there. Salt Pond Beach is 10 minutes away for grat snorkeling and the road up Waimea Canyon even closer. We have found Chad to be a great property manager and his local representative, Keenan, very responsive to any issues we encountered. Alan, the groundskeeper is also very friendly and helpful. I don't think we could find a better place than this and we will be back as often as we can!

The home is great, very well equipped with every essential. Close to stores and eateries. Beautiful views. Very relaxing. Ocean sound is wonderful but it is not a swimming beach. The waves crash right on shore and are very rough. The black sand beach is perfect for long walks and the historic pier is fun. Be aware you are in a working neighborhood which means early morning noise.
All in all it was fabulous.

This house is Awesome! 3 bedroom, 3 bath and perfect for our group of 6 with 3 adults, 2 teenagers and a child.
Upon arrival, the house was very clean and furnished with tons of things to help our trip from dishes and towels, to shampoo and sunscreen.
The sunset here can't be beat!!! Walking or driving to a few local eateries is simple. On this side of the island, you are close to Waimea Canyon and the most beautiful beach on the planet, Polihale!!!
The only 2 things I feel are important to know. This beach is not swimmable. Wading in the water and playing on the beach is fine, but direct swimming was not safe during our trip in April. Also, Poipu, Kapaa and Princeville/Hanalei are a bit of a drive. Poipu about 25 minutes, Kapaa 45-50 and North Shore 1 and 1/2 hours.
We knew this going in, because we have visited the island numerous times, but it could be a surprise to others. For us, being in the more local part of the island truly immerses you in the culture and true Aloha of Kauai.
Would definitely rent again! Also, Chad is the best!!! Phenomenal communication.

Honest feedback with Aloha:
Pros:
—Communication with Chad was excellent, as were instructions.
—Location is great to walk for meals and shopping. Very short drive to Chicken in a Barrel/Da Pizza— excellent food!
—House is very close to canyon state parks.
Cons:
—House needs a thorough cleaning—unfortunately we had to do a fair amount of cleaning upon arrival to feel comfortable enough to stay for the 5 nights. When we requested new shower curtain liners and a sheet for the king bed, Chad responded quickly.
—Because the house is in a neighborhood with dogs, be aware they’ll be barking early morning.
—Property description does need to specify that beach is not swimmable rather than having to discover that in guests’ reviews.
This property may be suitable for some travelers, but for us we would not stay there again.

It was a wonderful house at a perfect location. The house was spacious and the kitchen had every cooking utensil and appliance. Could walk to stores, restaurants, and bank. The host was very responsive.

Loved the house and Waimea town. Great access to Waimea canyon and had a fun meal at wranglers steakhouse. Also Da Booze Shop for quick decent plate lunch. Only drawback is beach not swimmable because of muddy water coming in from the river. Salt pond in Hanapepe or down to Kaheka beach to swim.

We would highly recommend this property. Let me get right to it. The ocean view and ocean sounds from the lanai were just amazing! The view is framed with mature palm trees and lush ground cover. The beach and the ocean view is essentially all yours. Hardly ever see anyone on the beach. We chose to stay at this property in lieu of staying at a crowded resort. This felt like our own private space and a very relaxed setting. The house was somewhat older but very clean, beautiful furniture, kitchen extremely well equipped with quality cookware, appliances, dishes, spices, dishwasher, condiments, sheet pans, cutting board, washer-dryer. When using the sink you can look out large window and look at the ocean. Can’t beat that. Each bedroom has its own window air conditioner. To be honest the running of the air conditioner along with very comfortable bed we both slept like a rock! 2 bedrooms have sliding glass doors to lanai. You will find out that you will be out on the lanai about 90% of the time you are at the house. 2 car garage. 1 block away is a very convenient and nice market/grocery store that had everything we desired. Gas grill on lanai for grilling. Tiki torches. 2 umbrellas and lawn chairs for sitting on beach to take in the sights and sounds of the ocean. This was the most relaxing vacation I have ever been on in my life and the property and its location had a lot to do with that. Mahalo to the property manager - Chad and contact Keenan. Have a great vacation...Aloha!

Gorgeous view, although the beach out back is not one for swimming. The house is a bit dated, but it was fine for the two of us, we weren't looking for modern or remodeled. The AC units are only in the bedrooms, so it got a little hot in the living room and kitchen. The place was clean and had the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Beach gear was there for our use. The location is off the beaten path, so expect 30+minute drives to see other venues, beaches, towns, etc...

The property is exactly as advertised. We had an amazing time! The house is beautiful and located within a neighborhood away from the touristy areas, which we wanted. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves. We will definitely stay here again. Mahalo!

House was very clean. The open layout allowed for great airflow. Air conditioning in the bedrooms made for comfortable sleeping. Absolutely loved the constant sound of the waves. We enjoyed our stay!

September 2023
My biggest issue was no AC in main part of house and very noisy window AC units. When I say very noisy my experience was in the bedroom with the two single beds. No sleep for me the entire trip. Other issue was We like to play dice and cards in evening. Too hot to do it inside and not supposed to be noisy outside after 9. Too hot to be inside and too noisy to be outside, Bit of an issue. If this house had central air it would have been perfect.

The house was wonderful. Easy walk to the beach and into town for food. The kitchen was very nice and well stocked with cookware and there where even spices. We enjoyed it being in a quiet town instead of a crowded resort area. We often had the beach to ourselves.

We enjoyed our stay very much, accommodation is generous, you find everything you need there. Supermarket is next to the place, also there are nice small restaurants there. If you need to recover it’s the best place. Also many nice trails nearby.

This was a beautiful property, exactly as advertised. Steps away from the beach and within walking distance of several great restaurants and a grocery store. The house was well stocked and everything was in perfect, working order. Chad was a great host with prompt and thorough communication and very accommodating. The check-in/check-out process was seamless. My family thoroughly enjoyed our days there and would jump at the opportunity to stay there again.

This is now our go-to place on Kaua'i! House is in great location, right on the beach. However, not a lot of people on the beach due to Waimea River silt in the water, so it feels very private. That said, Salt Ponds Beach is less than 10 minutes away for great swimming/snorkeling. House is very well appointed - all modern, yet easy to use appliances (fridge, stove oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer), very nice cooking utensils, plenty of nice towels, both bath and beach. In the garage there were handy beach chairs, two different size coolers for our beach picnics. Property manager Chad and local contact Keenan were great to work with and provided excellent communication! We'll be back as soon as we can!

View from back veranda is stunning. Cleanliness was an issue. Many ants, had to buy Terra Ant traps for every room to keep from being overrun. Not all windowsills had been cleaned, much dust. Only bedrooms have window air conditioners. Every room had ceiling fans, which helped, but main living area and kitchen rarely was less than 80 degrees most of stay, with windows and screened doors opened to allow maximum breeze flow through. House tightly shut, all fans off when we arrived in late afternoon, so was stifling hot the first night. Kitchen very adequately stocked, and nice supply of condiments, cooking oil, & seasonings in cupboard and refrigerator, so did not have to buy those. Twin beds not very comfortable, all others fine. Lots of towels, beach towels, beach chairs, great for excursions. House is quite old, not very updated, no dishwasher (yet). Many screens have holes in them, so bugs still get in. Neighborhood is a mixture of older family homes and newer rental units, and quite a mix of how well kept up they are. The town is small, but we found many excellent places to eat, and tried most of them. Favorites: Shrimp Station, Island Taco, Hoku food truck, Porkies. Least Favorite: BBQ and Da Pizza at Plantation Cottages - meats tasty, bland Mac salad, very miserly toppings on expensive pizza.

We were overwhelmed by the bugs. Bugs on the lanai. Bugs in the kitchen. Bugs in the bedroom. Bugs in the bathroom. Everywhere. I wish there was mention of the bugs. Also that the beach isn’t a swimming beach because of the hammerhead sharks!

April 2023
This house was exactly as expected. There was plenty of space in the bedrooms and living area. The view from the patio was awesome! It was so nice that the kitchen had some basic supplies so we could cook a few nights. We were also so glad to have beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler for two trips to drive to nicer beaches. The only reason I would not stay here again, is because this part of the ocean is not swimmable. But we did know that upfront. Another plus was being able to walk to Wrangler steakhouse. Not only was the steak fantastic but the fish was also. Excellent food and service!

Exactly as described in the listing. Wonderful place to stay and explore the quiet laid back part of the island. Well stocked with amenities.

January 2023
This property was conveniently located on an oceanfront sandy beach and was nicely appointed. The house was ideal except for two homes directly across the street occupied by locals who did not tend to their barking dogs tethered in their front yards. Our 6 night stay was interrupted day and night by the disturbance.

Enjoyed our stay at this beachfront house in local neighborhood. Highly equipped… checked all the boxes. Close enough for 5 minute walk to market and restaurants. Nice sunrise and sunset on the beach just a few hundred feet from the from the pier.

First time to Kauai, and our priority was an affordable 3 bedroom 3 bath house on the water. Thought that was a pipe dream, and we were so thrilled to find this lovely beach house which far exceeded our expectations! It seems that most Kauai visitors prefer the south or east side which worried us a little, but we absolutely loved the location, the house and Waimea!! The house is exactly as pictured -- cozy, comfortable and directly on the water. And you can hear the waves from every room -- even the front bedroom!!! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked and handy for cooking our own meals. From coffee to cocktails, we spent every minute we weren't out exploring the island on the wonderful lanai! Every sunset was a little different but always breathtaking. As other reviews said, the beach sand is a little darker than what one might expect due to the river run off nearby, but we walked it 2x a day every day and sat on the beach sometimes to watch the sunset and didn't mind at all! We saw tons of kids playing in the sand and even watched some surfers one night. Waimea is a cute town in very easy walking distance. The Food Save is affordable (by Hawaii standards) for stocking up, Isihira market a little more upscale but seemed to have limited hours. We enjoyed a meal at the Wrangler Steakhouse in town one night which was charming. The neighbors were all friendly and Waimea was a great launch point for many of our adventures. Chad was communicative, check in was easy and the garage was handy for access and storage. Would not hesitate to stay here again! Loved every minute!

November 2022
we loved this place! my sister, our friend and i stayed here for 10 awesome days and loved every minute! perfect location for us, away from the resorts and on the dry side of the island. the home is on the black sand beach in waimea, a very quiet beach. the state recreational pier is super close and a cool photography subject.
know that the third bathroom is between the kitchen and the garage. When we first got there we thought that might be not so great; it turned out to be really handy especially when heading out in the car. So the master bedroom has an en suite; the two guest bedrooms have one bathroom that is located in the hall between them. the washing machine is super handy to have. we had 98% of our meals on the lanai watching the beautiful ocean and the amazing sunsets. Truly we were on the lanai probably 98% of the time that we were at the house! before we set out on this vacation all three of us ladies were thinking that this might be our last trip to Hawaii… But about halfway through the 10 days we started saying “the next time we come…“ and the next time we come we will stay here for sure. Super convenient, really easy walking to Ishihara fish market; big save; and wranglers steakhouse where we ate twice ( best price for lobster on the island!). You can also walk to Island taco and shrimp station which was really tasty. waimea canyon is just minutes away. when we booked our na pali coast cruise we chose an outfit that sailed out of kikiaola boat harbor just 10 minutes west, which saved us an hour each way on the water. It was so hard to leave! But management made it so much easier because we were allowed a late check out. Staying at Hale Lokahi really made our trip!

My family and I stayed her for 6 nights and it was absolutely perfect. If you like the West shore, it’s an awesome location that truly is beach front! The bedrooms have AC and the front porch has amazing view of the ocean and Waimea pier. Perfect house for a family vacation and the owner was great to work with accommodating us having a later flight on the day of our checkout. We will definitely stay with here or another one of their properties again on our next visit!

September 2022
When we told people we were staying in Waimea, we often got funny looks until we showed them the view from our VRBO. This home is right on the beach. We spent early morning and evening hours enjoying listening to the crashing waves on the lanai and viewing spectacular sunsets from the beach - we even saw a early morning moonset!
The house was perfect for 2 couples - 3 would work, but would be a bit cozy. We had plenty of everything from towels to pillows to beach chairs to snorkel gear. It was great being able to park 2 vehicles in the garage. It was super clean, the AC in the bedrooms was super cold and there wasn't anything we needed we couldn't find in the kitchen.
Town was a block away. We loved being able to stock up at the market. We arrived on a Sunday and found that many restaurants in town are closed on Sunday and Monday (and a few on Tuesday as well). We made do, but keep that in mind for your planning.
As mentioned in other reviews, the dogs do bark across the street, but not all the time. And the roosters do crow at all hours of the night - but I'm not sure where on the island you could go without that being the case. The one sound we weren't prepared for was the neighbor's sprinkler hitting our metal lanai roof in the middle of the night. Most nights it was only on for a short time, but it was a little jarring.
And, be prepared that the sand is brown and the beach in front of the house isn't pristine due to the river run off. But it is soft and you can't beat the sunsets.
Again, as mentioned, you are on the far west end of the island, so most tourist destinations (except for the fabulous Waimea Canyon) are at least a 1/2 hour away. Traffic could be spotty, but never terrible. We went all the way to both ends of the island and always made sure we were back in time to enjoy sunset on the beach.
If you are looking for a place on the beach that isn't where all the other tourists are staying and are willing to drive to adventures, this is an excellent choice.

This was a great property and location. Chad the property manager was awesome to work with. We usually stay in Poipu , so Waimea was different for us. We had never stayed on this side of the island. The location is worth the 25-30 minute drive to Poipu /Lihue area. Salt Pond beach park is great for kids, it was my girls’ favorite beach and only a 10 minute drive if that. Waimea Canyon is about 30-45?minutes to the peak- a must do. Hanapepe is a 5 minute drive that I regret not taking more time to explore. The house itself, I concur with all the good things the other reviews had to say. The AC in the bed rooms is perfect. It is loud, so bring ear plugs if you’re sensitive to sound while asleep. The rest of the house is comfortable if you open all the windows , run the ceiling fans and the large portable fan in the living room. The kitchen is fully stocked . The only thing missing was a salad spinner, but we worked around that. Had we realized earlier, we would have picked one up and donated it to the house. We did donate some new ice trays =) The most memorable part of the house was the gorgeous backyard access to the beach. The house is exactly as advertised. The backyard is the beach. We ate dinner most nights in the backyard patio watching the sunset. My favorite part of the 9 days we stayed was my early mornings alone with a cup of Kauai Coffee, the ocean waves and 30 minutes of silence before the kids were up. I’m still chasing that feeling back home in Cali. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a place with a less of a touristy feel. It’s super convenient with 2 grocery stores , shave ice, restaurants , Aloha’n Paradise coffee shop (it’s awesome-don’t let the outside fool you) AND a massage therapist within walking distance . The massage therapist is (Michelle?) from Zensations-also walking distance. The therapist was an absolute gem. Overall this house and location was more than what I had expected & will book again in the future .

A big thanks to Chad and the owners of the Waimea House. We fell in love the back yard, beach and wonderful appointments of the house. There were tons of supplies for use at the beach, plenty of extra supper cozy towels and pillows and lots of utensils in the kitchen. The house has been very well maintained although some of the neighborhood could use some keeping up. We thoroughly enjoyed having a private place to relax outdoors and in. Waimea town is a 2 minute walk up the street and there are plenty of yummy food options, just remember Hawaii closes early. I cannot reccomned this place enough!

July 2022
We had a lovely time staying here. It’s literally on the beach, it’s not technically a swimming beach but my kids were happy to be able to leave the garden and be on the beach. It’s also only a 10 min drive to salt pond park which is a quiet and beautiful beach with calm water and have a very kid friendly part. The home came with everything we needed, including beach toys, chairs and snorkeling gear. There was even coffee (thank you!). One of my favorite things was making coffee and sitting on the lanai in the morning watching the waves. I also loved falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean. Really such a wonderful home. Definitely try JoJo’s shaved ice and porkys if you stay here! Walking distance and really yummy! We will definitely stay here again!

June 2022
This property was perfect for our trip. The kitchen with everything you need to cook and serve was great. In a very quiet area despite being in a small town neighborhood and we could listen to the waves crash all day and night. Kauai has one way to get the north shore so understand that before booking this property. The tourist spots are at least a 20 minute a drive away. There are really great things beyond the tourist stuff on this island and this house was a perfect home base. The third bedroom has a king size bed instead of two twins. We will be back to this house in the future.

June 2022
This house was exactly what a beach house should be! It was large, clean, and located within steps to a big sandy beach that was quiet and private. The furniture was comfortable and the deck behind the house was covered for those occasional showers. We enjoyed being able to park our rental car inside the garage, too. There are two decent grocery stores within 3–5 blocks.
One thing to note: only the bedrooms have air conditioning, not the living room, dining area or kitchen. But they do have large fans for those areas.
Overall, it’s a Great value for the money!

May 2022
We had an amazing week! The home was perfect for our family of six adults with the three bedrooms and bathrooms. We loved being right on the beach. Waimea is a sleepy small town so we enjoyed experiencing the real Hawaii. Running the air conditioners solved the early morning rooster problem!
The house is close to the amazing beaches and hiking that the island offers. We hope to return again soon!
My only suggestion is investing in some new beach chairs. There are only five chairs available and most are showing their age. Just a minor issue.
Kathlin M.
April 2022
Absolutely wonderful! This home had everything we could possibly have needed, including snorkel gear and sand play and boogie boards! It was perfect! Loved the chickens!
Every morning was amazing as I would wake up and see the palm trees! Listening to the ocean waves every night! Eating meals on the lanai.
I would recommend planning out activities for whole day trips to North side, South side, and East side for a day each so you don't have to keep driving there. It is a bit of a drive, but so worth it!
We met the wonderful neighbors across the street from the basketball hoop and they are just the sweetest people you will ever meet! I would really encourage you to hang out with them, especially if you have children. They are great!
Everything was perfect! Mahalo!

We arrived on Kauai to observe the two year anniversary of my husband's passing and were so fortunate to have found this slice of heaven to stay. From the yard, we could access the sandy beach which was just feet away from us. Hearing the waves crashing along the shore from each bedroom at night lulled us all to sleep. The property, itself, was well stocked and very clean. Even coolers, boogie boards, beach chairs, and snorkeling gear were provided! We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!

Beautiful views!!! The beach, while not good for swimming, is great for long morning and evening walks. There is a Great beach for swimming, snorkeling thats kid friendly about 10 to 15 minutes away.
The house is beautifully laid out and is super user friendly. Everything we needed was waiting for us.
This is not the high end shops and groomed landscaping area. It’s visiting with the locals in a nice neighborhood with good places to eat or buy shrimp, fish and fruit. The longer we stayed here the more in love with the house we were.
I would come back here in a heartbeat!

January 2022
We loved stayed in this home, it was in a great location! If you’re looking to stay in traditional Hawaiian neighborhood with the locals, this place is for you! We loved watching the sunsets every evening, and listening to the constant crowing of the roosters! Our teenagers loved being able to walk into town to grab a fresh poke bowl from the local store or a shaved ice. The home itself is nothing fancy but it was comfortable and we spent most of our time out on the lanai. The beach is not a swimming beach, you’ll need to drive to a nicer beach for that. The beach right outside the door is coarse with a lot of mud coming in with the waves. It was still a beautiful sight to sit out on the lanai and watch the ocean, especially in the morning with a cup of coffee! This is not a resort area and not a fancy town. If you’re looking for luau’s, fancy drinks, and air conditioning you might be happier at a resort. We enjoyed the rustic charm of the home, the neighborhood, the locals, and the town of Waimea! We would definitely return again!

November 2021
Beautiful, clean and comfortable house. The view to the ocean and sunset are absolutely amazing.
We loved that we could walk just a block to the Ishihara Market (which has the best poke on the island!), and numerous other restaurants.
While the water in that particular area isn’t the clearest (rain runoff from the mountains), it’s still perfectly safe for a quick dip. Snorkeling spots, beaches and the drive to Waimea Canyon are all fairly close.
The addition of A/C units in the bedrooms is a nice touch as the roosters in the area are not shy and plenty vocal all hours. With the A/C on we couldn’t hear them and we slept wonderfully.
Highly recommend this property!

November 2021
Great location away from hustle and bustle of bigger hotel areas on the island. House has amazing views! Sunsets were spectacular!! Beach was not a swimming beach but was great for walking, literally right outside our backdoor. Just what our group was looking for. We spent all of our time on the lanai. Chicken and roosters made the stay memorable for us...will definitely book again.

July 2021
The property is great, right on the beach - next to the pier on one side and the river on the other side. Property has all the items you need - beach chairs, beach towels, and a fishing rod.
The only thing I was concerned about was the tents on the adjacent properties - a couple of houses away on both sides - that looked like people living in them permanently (maybe homeless). The one night we were on the beach with a campfire we could hear them loud cursing and so had to take our kids back inside. Nothing happened, they did not approach us or anything, just giving a heads up.

The beach house was great. Walkable to all of downtown Waimea. I think we were the first stay after being closed down for the pandemic, so considering that as well, everything was functioning well. Lots of helpful things in the house including beach gear and guide books. Mahalo!
