We had a lovely stay in this little rental home. The property was spotless, quiet, and in a great location. Very private, but close to grocery stores and restaurants. We loved sitting on the lovely covered deck, watching the sunset and the waves rolling in. We arrived after dark on the first night of our stay and had a very difficult time finding the property because the address isn't easy to see from the highway, so better directions for new arrivals would be helpful. We will definitely make plans to reserve this cottage for future trips.

Felt relaxed and right at home in the North Shore Cottage only a few minutes drive from Kahuku in one direction and Pupukea and Sharks Cove in the other. Hale’iwa was only 20min- half hour drive away depending on traffic. Turtle Bay and the hikes, beaches, beach and pool bar, that it offers is right around the corner. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem if u like remote feeling of yourself on a beach go to Kawela Bay (Small waves even in November- good for families) and there was a great remote hike out to the pillbox and to the Kahuku point… all in the Turtle Bay grounds. I can’t forget that sunset beach, banzai pipeline and Ted’s Bakery are also a short drive away.
The cottage was well equipped, two beach chairs and snorkel gear and body boards. There were beach towels, outdoor laundry worked very well. Air conditioners were in the place but the fans in every room and the ocean breeze through the windows kept the place cool. Beds were comfy and we slept well. We also had a rooster (Rocky) chickens, two feral cats (Ernie and Bert) that visited daily. Loved the porch for viewing the ocean in the hot sun or rain. The kitchen, flooring and overall upkeep was good, the place was clean on arrival. Landscapers come midweek for the grounds.
Lots of food truck and shopping options in Kahuku, including Giovanni’s… don’t miss out on the Paniolo at Seven Brothers. Take advantage of the beer garden when u order your food Seven Brothers will walk it over to u there.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Kawela Kai and cannot recommend it enough. This is one of the few remaining properties you can find to rent for less than a month outside the tourist hot spots of Waikiki and Turtle Bay, and what a find it is! The property is beautiful, just far enough from the road to eliminate noise and right on a small but beautiful stretch of sandy beach. The backyard is nicely landscaped and equipped with lounge chairs to take in the view, while the large back porch has a table to enjoy meals outside. The building itself is old but well maintained, and the interior is nicely appointed and clean. It has what appear to be brand new appliances in the well stocked kitchen, AC throughout, and a good security system. The location can't be beat; right on the North Shore, less than 15min to Waimea and good snorkeling beaches to the west and the Polynesian Cultural Center and gorgeous Windward shore to the east. In short, if the idea of staying in a cookie cutter condo in Waikiki does not appeal, this is the place for you!

A very nice little house. Clean and comfortable. Looks bigger in the pics than it is. It is just over 700 Sq Ft but the porch is nice and big for you to spread out on. Chickens, roosters and feral cats are to be expected. They ask you not to feed them. This was especially hard for us and it eliminated any outdoor eating for us. Don't expect any small things like, pens, paper, chip clips, fly swatter, etc. Beds and ACs were good. With temp while we were there - had to keep the AC on until night. No cross breeze in the house. hard to hear the waves with the AC on. Nice beach to walk on but not an "entry" beach- pretty rocky. Overall a nice house.

We stayed here for the second half of our stay. They gave us a welcome kit with a roll of toilet paper, paper towel, some hand soap and dish soap. The views were amazing and it was so much fun to wake up and walk down to the beach. On the side of the house there were some beach toys, snorkel stuff and a boogie board, probably from previous renters. Overall it was amazing. Would definitely stay here again.

The most amazing point about this bungalow is the location, we were always up early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the ocean walking along what felt like a private beach. The property is as described, with easy parking and easy to find.It lacks a bit of tender love and care as the Windows are old and don't keep the noise out and the air conditioning is basic and noisy, but that all adds to the charm of this home. We would love to visit again, but it is just far away. A local supermarket is a short drive away, but nothing is within walking distance, which is normal in the USA. Turtle Beach is a 10-minute drive away, it was great to get there before everyone from the south of the island arrived. The North Shore is the place to be. Look out for the Chickens and friendly cats, they come right on your terrace.

Loved our little beach house. Beautiful view, quiet, my kids loved seeing the little baby chicks, hearing the roosters, and the kitties that live on the property. The beach was conveniently right there and never crowded since its only accessed by the homes along it.
I wanted our stay to be relaxing and away from all the crowds. I am so happy we stayed here and we will be back. In regard to the house itself. It's a cute little house. The beds were comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked as far as cooking pots and pans and had a toaster, a blender, coffee pot, etc. We had plenty of towels, blankets, and the little AC's in each room worked great. My husband said he had great sleep the entire time we were there. There's also a washer and dryer outside and an outside shower to rinse off after the beach. I do wish the outside shower was enclosed. It was a little awkward trying to rinse sand out of my bathing suit and the other house has windows facing the shower. If you are considering where to stay for your vacation I highly recommend one of the properties this owner has. You will not regret it.
We will be back and hopefully next time renting one of the bigger houses because we'll have more family with us next time. Thank you to the owners for making the house comfortable for your guests. ❤️

I can’t say enough! This place is exactly how it is pictured and just gorgeous. Top notch alarm system. They have sand toys so don’t buy any! Perfect place for lounging, we barely wanted to leave but with Haleiwa town 10 mins away and all of the best snorkel spots right next door, we left a few times. Incredible.

This little house is clean, well-appointed, and the location is absolutely stunning. We loved walking in the flat rocks of the Long Beach. It’s not ideal for swimming, but it’s wild and wonderful. We even saw humpbacks breaching in the distance. Each room has an adequate air conditioning unit. We did have a little trouble with accessing Netflix and prime. The Rooster seems to crow on its own schedule, but he and the hen watch over the property, along with the little family of cats. We loved it!

This beach house was such a treat. Being oceanfront with the sand, only a few steps away, whale watching every morning while drinking coffee, and the grass area for playing ball and sunny lounge chairs made it an extra wonderful. Be sure to bring your headlamps for night time tide pool exploring, we saw an eel!

LOCATION: Amazing! You can't beat the location. True beachfront. It's on a quieter stretch of the main highway, but close to the busy Sunset Beach/Waimea area. Other reviewers mentioned traffic noise, but we weren't bothered. Stunning views, especially at sunrise and sunset. At night we enjoyed listening to the crashing waves. There is a nice stretch of sand for relaxing and beachcombing. As other reviewers noted, the area immediately in front of the stairs is not ideal for swimming due to rocks, but there are several nearby swimming areas.
MANAGEMENT: By coincidence, the owners were vacationing on the property for the majority of our stay. They were welcoming and kind. The management company was friendly and quick to respond to any questions. Guest manual was full of helpful information.
HOME: Perfect set-up for our family of 4. Clean and organized. Comfortable beds and well-equipped kitchen. HUGE covered deck. Extra towels & linens. Beach chairs, beach towels, and gear provided. Outdoor shower was nice. It was a bonus having a washer & dryer and extra fridge.
TIP: As mentioned above, there are three other larger rental homes on the property - great if you're vacationing with multiple families or hosting an event. However, if you are a solo renter and craving a quieter experience, you may want to check if the other houses are booked by one group. On our final night, a large party rented out the other houses and kind of took over the whole property.

The house is definitely older—probably from the 1940s, and in need of some TLC. Would be nice to have had some basic toiletries, laundry soap, scissors. Did have plenty of towels for the beach and even 2 chairs which is nice. Outside area is beautiful and right on the beach. I would definitely recommend it for a stay. Can also rent the houses next door if you have a big group and the yards connect.
Close to Foodland, Ken’s Fish, food trucks. Also close to Turtle bay which my kids enjoyed because the beach is calmer there.

found the nearby highway loud all hours of day and night; especially, when the in-room A/C unit is off. It is best to leave on for white noise.
Living area: We found the wicker furniture uncomfortable and stained. We used the wi-fi without issues and with speeds to allow our Apple TV to stream movies and sports. The standing lamp in the corner to light the room has an electrical short.
Bathroom: We were disappointed that there was no shampoo or soap for use in the bathroom. We found the shower curtain stained pink with mold. We found and used many new body and beach towels, but no step cloth when exiting the stained shower.
Outdoors: We enjoyed the covered deck. We experienced crowing rosters, barking dogs, and crying feral cats. The annoying feral cats overran the outside patio's deck begging for food to the point we discontinued eating outside because the cats insisted on being on our laps and tabletop. We were disappointed to learn the washer and dryer is shared with others on property and found our laundry placed in the outside sink and wet from rain. We were surprised our lawn furniture was used when we were away.

Cannot wait to return. This was the ultimate north shore, serene escape for us. Some highlights that made this a comfortable rental for 5+ days - RIGHT on the beach. It is rocky but perfect for small children to explore tide pools. 5 min walk on beach to a swimming/sandy area. We planned to explore north shore a lot more but the property was so great with beach access we barely left the place! Nice spacious kitchen, well stocked. Wine fridge! Great indoor and outdoor showers. Effective air conditioners in each bedroom. Comfortable beds. Lots of storage areas. Washer/dryer. easy parking in front of the home. You will be right beside 3 other rentals - safety/comfort in numbers but there are dense bushes lining each home for privacy if you're not feeling social. The resident rooster will wake you up at 4, 5 and 6 am but thats fine because you can head to Ted's bakery (5 min drive) to get the freshest pastries/breakfast each morning.

We came here for our kid's spring break and of all the places we've ever stayed (hotel and house rental), this is our favorite one by far. The dream landscape of having an oceanfront home in the beautiful North Shore, basically your own private beach and only being minutes from anywhere you'd want to go in the North Shore has it meeting every checkbox we could imagine. Awesome stay at our Kawela Kai unit. The home was the perfect size for our family of 3. The view was spectacular. Location was steps away from the beach, with a nice large deck to enjoy our meals at and loungers on the grassy area.
There was one bedroom with a double sized bed and a second bedroom with 2 twin beds. My husband and I are both tall and larger so our daughter got the double bed and we took the room with the twin beds. The bathroom was a decent size with a convenient vanity and stool opposite the sink. Kitchen was the perfect size and had a full sized refrigerator and stove. The couch was a little uncomfortable and a second cushioned chair would have been nice, but that was a minor issue.
The home had plenty of towels and beach towels and some beach chairs and foam floaties. The unit also had AC units in each bedroom and the dining/living room area that were all highly efficient and cooled the rooms super fast. However, the weather was so nice and the bedroom ceiling fans were effective in keeping the temperature in the rooms very comfortable. We originally considered one of the larger units for the second bathroom, but we didn’t need it. There was an outdoor shower that was great to wash off all the sand.
In our 15 or so trips to the islands, this was hands down the best location and our favorite accommodations we watched whales from the deck, beautiful sunsets and even rainbows. Simply spectacular.

Nice location, beautiful views, loved the covered deck, the outside shower was very handy. For our needs the furniture was adequate, but if we were at the property for longer periods of time, more comfortable furniture would have been appreciated. We did struggle with finding the entrance to the property, especially at night, so a marker of some sort would have come in handy. The check in/out process instructions were very clear and easy to follow, we only set the alarm off once. :-) We loved the chickens and the kittens, but the sun rose multiple times each morning for the roosters. We would definitely stay here again as well as recommend it to others.

WiFi works well. We definitely will recommend to others.A few general condition comments: Other windows do not work well or open. Sliding patio door locks only by putting the stick in the track. Seems incongruous for a place that has an alarm system. No drape or curtain or shade on sliding glass door. Need brighter lighting in bath. One sofa type piece of furniture that is not very comfortable.

We had a wonderful week at the beachside cottage. Very clean and welcoming. Well stocked with kitchen utensils. Comfortable beds. Didn’t need the AC due to cool night breezes. Previous renters left salt, pepper and olive oil which we gratefully used. Worked perfectly for 4 adults. Not a swimming beach but we loved easy access by stairs to beach level and wading in 2 foot deep pool at high tide. Friendly housekeepers at vacated cottage next door were a delight and offered many helpful tips of places to see, eat and enjoy. Loved those ladies! We would definitely come here again! Mahalo!

Our only complaint is shortage of amenities supplied. Very little toilet paper (2 rolls), less than a roll of paper towels, and only 3 wash clothes were supplied for 4 people for a 7 night stay. Even a bar of soap would have been easy to supply. I strongly feel these simple ammenities being supplied would make the experience perfect. Thank you!

Second stay there. The views are amazing. The furniture inside the cottage could use a bit of an upgrade. The couch is not too comfortable in the living room. Also a year ago during our fist stay we noticed the bedroom closet door is broken and wobbly. We had put our daughter's crib right in front of the closet but we had to move it from there when we noticed this since we didn't think it is safe. During our second visit the door was still broken. Fans are old and noisy especially in the second bedroom. Living room AC didn't work. Kitchen supplies are not good quality, especially the forks, knifes and spoons. Never had such a poor silverware in a vacation rental. Overall great place for the views and location but I wish they did better upgrades inside. For the price we pay we would expect more. Thanks!

Found this online because I wanted to stay at the North Shore and knew where it was location wise. My wife and I loved it! House was clean when we arrived and had everything we would need for our stay. The view is great, beds are comfy, and has just enough to enjoy your stay. We don't mind driving, but if you are looking to stay put, there is more than enough to do at the North Shore. The whole process, from deposit to leaving was the easiest experience you could have. Will stay again and am looking forward to it!

This is a great updated older home on the North Shore. The location is ideal for spending time at lots of local beaches. If you prefer a more laid back setting vs the hustle and bustle of the big city then this is an ideal property. It's only an hour or so to Honolulu so it's not a big deal to get there. As long as you don't require a modern home and can deal with one bathroom it's a perfect North Shore rental.

Quaint two bedroom, one bath beach cottage. It was very clean and updated. In a beautiful location in North Shore. We stayed for five nights and wanted to stay much longer. Hearing the waves crashing at night was so relaxing and rejuvenating.

We loved our stay here! The house is in a great location. There is not good access to a swimming beach but we stared at the ocean (and whales in the distance - bring binoculars!) for hours. The house is no frills but had everything we needed. I do wish tenants were encouraged to leave non perishable items (olive oil, spices, toilet paper) behind to share with the next guests - it costs a small fortune to buy all that if you plan on cooking. And then is so wasteful to throw it away! We gave it away to neighbors.

It was a perfect set up for all of us. We had our own space and our space together. We had a a couple of maintenance problems which were fixed in a timely fashion.The view was wonderful and many nice times where spent either on the lawn or the lanai. Folks could go and explore, go to beache, watch surfers. With a wide age just friends everyone seem to be happy. Loved food trucks were perfect for our dining needs and we took advantage of the grocery stores. Because of the size of our group we didn’t try to go out for dinner so sitting on the lanai at meal time was perfect. I would recommend this to people who like casual living and enjoy each other. Our family of four with two grade school boys spent 5 days here in February. This spot is absolutely delightful! The view is ridiculous and the beach is one staircase away. The beach is wildly different from one segment to the next with large, smooth rocks that create small tidal pools to jagged pumice stones. Lots of fish and crabs and birds to watch. Great swimming spots all along the beach. The house itself was clean and comfortable with window units in every room when needed. Washer and dryer came in handy. Minutes down the road from famous surf spots. Very relaxing and gorgeous place. My wife cried when we left. It was that good.

Great little beach cottage. Incredible sunsets. Perfect little vacation home, stocked with pretty much everything you could need. Laundry on site was a huge bonus. Sunsets and meals on the lanai were next level! Felt very safe with the alarm system in place, though safe location in general. Beach is so nice, though you do have to walk just a short way to find swimmable water, as there are rocks directly in front of the home. Great shells to be found! Can't wait to be back- ultimate relaxed vacation spot!

We had a wonderful stay here. Beautiful view of the ocean from either your lanai or just from inside the house at the dining table or kitchen. The view faces the sunset so you can watch it evening as long as it's not too cloudy. The lawn is very well cared for and there are stairs down to the beach right in front of the property. It is a sandy beach but there are rocks between the sand and the water just out front so you just need to walk a short way down to the right for a better swimming spot or to Kawela bay which is a bit further. There is a shower head outside with hot water which is so nice when you've just come in from a swim! The kitchen is newly renovated, it was so fun to cook with a view of the waves and sky. It was relaxing and clean. The property management team were friendly and helpful. We are hoping to come back!

This property is a great example of a beach house. View? Literally sitting on top of the beach. Steps away from the ocean. Small maintained yard with sheltered outdoor eating area. One of my favorite things to do is enjoy my breakfast and relax to the sound of waves lapping on the shore. The house itself is clean and practical. It has been recently painted and the kitchen and bathrooms are up to date and functional. The bedrooms have comfortable beds and along with the living room air conditioned. Fortunately we did not need to use the AC too often but when we did it worked well. Location was convenient as well. I hope to return someday soon.

We absolutely loved staying at this property! There was enough space for our party of 4. The house is very small yet cozy. The kitchen is very well equipped and we were able to cook for ourselves. The view is breathtaking! The bathroom did not feel as updated as the rest of the house but we had no problems (except for the giant cockroach we found in the bathtub one day... the joys of nature in Hawaii, yikes). The house feels secluded yet you have other homes on both sides, so it feels very safe. We loved this property and would definitely stay again.

We’ve rented this bungalow before and it is our all time favorite location. The coral beach is steps away and you can hear the waves while in bed. The kitchen has been remodeled and updated and it’s beautiful. It could use a few more tools (no fry pan) but it’s totally workable with what’s there. The beds are clean and comfortable and the AC is a perk! It would be great if the outdoor shower had a privacy screen but as is it works great for rinsing off. I know we’ll be back!

Our family spent 7 nights and had a great time. The house was a great fit for us. There is three in our family. The ocean is right out side your door and down a flight of stairs. It is a rocky beach outside the home but there are some great beaches extremely close that are an easy drive. We enjoyed the North shore and the east side. Much more quiet then Honolulu. Ted's Bakery is just a few miles away. They have some great food. The property management team was great. They did respond to your needs whenever needed. The kitchen could use a few more pots and pans. The home had everything we needed otherwise.

We rented out all four houses for our wedding and the property was absolutely amazing. We stayed in the smaller 2 bedroom cottage which has the typical charm of a north shore house. The house came clean and had nice amenities including a flat screen TV but we never watched it considering the view is amazing. I would recommend these houses to anybody wanting to get married on the North Shore. The staff was always helpful and the price is on point. I'll be sure to return here for an anniversary!

We so enjoyed being able to walk out the back door and right down to the beach. The tide pools were perfect for our grade school aged children to play and explore in. The rental was conveniently located to everything on the north shore as well. I found myself truely relaxing there. The beds were comfortable, and the high ceilings made it feel very spacious. We enjoyed the outdoor shower too (but it would be better if it had a privacy screen). Everything we needed for a great vacation was there!

This is the second time we have rented this house. It was cleaner this time. We had only one extra garbage bag and only one extra roll of toilette paper? But we shopped before we got there and got extra supplies. We arrived in the dark and if we didn't know about the house in advance we would have been in trouble trying to get in since there was no lights on and the sensor light in the back of the house didn't work. They say to use the alarm when leaving the house but when we left and tried to set it, I couldn't get it to set. The queen bed in the bedroom looks like a new mattress and looked comfortable, but we didn't use it because the out door lights from the neighbors house was so bright and shined thru the curtains, maybe could use some new curtains that block outside view too. The original windows in the house are cool and allow allot of air in, but the windows in the front don't lock? Alarm with windows that don't lock? Wi-Fi and TV work nicely even though I didn't use it much. Spent most of the time on the deck and on the beach. The rental price is good for the area and we will probably use it again - why not - it's paradise!
