Great resort. I knew going in that it was a mostly older property, but it's well maintained. The amenities are kept up and the pool and waterfalls/decorations were awesome. The only detractor was the 7 days stay limit, which we were able to extend by a day after check in, so really, no problem there. The beach is somewhat eroded, and shorter than the optimal pictures of the lowest tide from many years ago. But, there's still room to layout on the sand, so it really made no difference. And the hotel can't really control beach erosion or rising tides that much. The resort staff are great people. The person I checked in with remembered me when I went down to extend my stay and said, "I'll take care of Mr. (my name)" The gift shop is a little overpriced, but not that bad, basic hotel upcharges. The meals served at the cafe were reasonably priced (compared to most places on Maui). $10 and $12 drinks at the bar are pretty reasonable for Mai Tais and Pina Coladas. There is huge food truck complex just in front of the hotel. There's also a boardwalk, just south of the hotel. I wish the hotel was closer to Whaler's Village shopping center, but I also enjoy walking the beach and boardwalk and the shopping center was only 2 miles south (easy drive too). There's a laundry machine (washer and dryer) on every floor, except the 1st floor. There are dishwashers, clothes hangars, dishes, silverware, coffee, coffee makers (full kitchen). Room towels are provided, beach towel passes are included (just to make sure you return them). The rental areas included beach chairs, bikes, snorkeling gear, etc. Overall, great resort and experience.

The VRBO pictures for this hotel look gorgeous but the reality is this: The property manager will tell you that you "may or may not get the ocean view" that "Its like a hotel so you get what they give you at check in". This is not true. When you book, the property manager already knows exactly what room you are getting but will imply that "they will do thier best for you, and request an ocean view". But the truth is that the room you book is priced for a "scenic view" which means you probably will get a view of the mini putt or parking lot and with a lot of cranking of your neck over a very un-private and disgusting balcony, you might see a glimpse of the ocean. We learned this through this very nice and accomodating front desk who said this is an ongoing complaint and that it is the responsibility of the property manager to upgrade. The property mamager will tell you its up to the hotel. Considering that the property manager works for a large coorporation (Diamaond enterprises) they don't have to give a crap what you say, what you request, what you complain about. My beef is that we expected one thing and got another. First we booked our trip. It went through. Then bought our non refundable plane tickets. The next day we got mail saying the dates were not available for the dates we bought. We decided that for "such a nice place" we'd swallow the cost. The property manager implied we could possibly receive an ocean view. This was NEVER in the cards according to the people at the front desk. That said, it IS Hawaii, so whatever. Its a nice beach to swim at, the pool is great too, and the room was spacious enough for our family of 4. There was no privacy as our room looked onto the entire building's balconies. You can hear conversations from everyone's balconies, as well as those that echo from the mini putt even though we specifically said we wanted a quiet room. The hotel is COMPLETELY dated. It reminds me of a sanitorium. The colors were insane asylum pink and hosital green, and it was designed like a jail. Again, its Hawaii, and so whatever. Luckily for us, we had an extra night in Hawaii and for the exact same price, we stayed right on the ocean on the beach, in a gorgeous condo, renovated condo, and saw a whale breach right in front of us and turtles spring up all day and night. But the Kaanapali Beach resort is okay for a retired Costco crowd. That wasn't us. And the property manager through VRBO was less than accomodating,

We rented this property for the first week of a two week vacation. It did not disappoint. The resort staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. The property is easy to get around and in convenient walking distance to the Kanapali Beach boardwalk. The unit was the perfect size for two adults and two children. The food at the resort was good but the property is also convenient to multiple restaurants. Also very family friendly. Five stars.

Once we got over a small hiccup with checkin the evening we arrived everything else went smoothly! The Kaanapali Beach Club resort is amazing! Fabulous beach, pool, hot tub. The room is newly renovated and the beds were great. Seeing the whales off the balcony in the morning was amazing! Room comfortably housed our family of 4 for the week and we have two teenage daughters. They made lots of new friends at the pool in the evenings. Always something to do and the time went to quick. Great location with a grocery store right acrosss the street and lots of fabulous food trucks and eateries within a very short walk. Highly Recommend staying at this wonderful Resort
