BEACHES & CRITTERS: The beach size in Hawaii varies month to month due to heavy surf, strong currents and tides. Due to Maui’s rural atmosphere you may experience the occasional rooster, as well as harmless geckos. Geckos are friendly, eat insects, and are considered good luck in Hawaii. Please don’t kill them.
IMPORTANT: Although the HOA schedules regular professional pest control services, pests such as ants, roaches and rodents simply cannot be completely controlled in the tropics. Hawaii is located in a tropical climate, and insects, rodents and lizards flourish in this environment. If our guest spot more than the normal expected pests, we always make our best efforts to contact and work with the HOA to minimize your interactions with these pests. Any contact with such pests within or outside the unit does not constitute a breach of this Agreement or give Guest any right to any refund or rental adjustment.

The location is great, the staff is wonderful. Our unit had a few small maintenance issues (sliding doors sticky, some protruding floor tiles, etc.), but nothing huge. We'd happily book again.

This resort was perfect for our family. Two beautiful pools, and the beach right outside! We were able to rent boogie boards and all the items we needed to make life easy! I can’t say enough about the flexibility and quick responsiveness of the host! Terru was amazing and quickly came to my aid when I made a booking error. She truly saved the day and is what customer service is all about. Mahalo to all at this piece of heaven on earth for a few glorious days in paradise!
(Lastly, even though the listing said garden view, we did have a partial ocean view from the front lanai). Would absolutely recommend staying here!

We have stayed at KS at least six times!! Unit 545 was the nicest unit yet.
Fresh water is always a precious commodity for this reason I recommend that you have the plumbing checked at both the shower head and kitchen sink.
The entrance door did not have any weather striping installed and the threshold is too low. This allows the wind to make a load moaning sound that I found disagreeable.
The sound was minimized by placing a towel in front of door.
The gap at the bottom of the door could also allow uninvited insects into the room .
All in all our stay on Maui was fantastic and room 545 added to our enjoyment . Mahalo

We stayed in unit 212 for 7 nights. It had a nice view of the ocean and the garden. The unit was very clean. It also had a Playstation console and my Son was able to checkout free video game discs near the lobby. It came fully stocked with all cooking utensils and cutlery. However, it would have been nice if there were basic cooking supplies such as salt, oil etc that you would normally find left over in vacation rentals.
The property has two nice swimming pools. The pool in the Garden area is not very deep (max about 4 ft) with a nice tropical garden around it and is great for the smaller kids. The ocean side pool is next to the restaurant and has a max depth of 7ft.

Rented Unit 439 at Kaanapali Shores. It is a very nice condo with upgraded interior, furniture and amenities. It is listed as a garden view but one can see the ocean. The unit has a washer and dryer which is needed if you stay long enough. (The dryer is a bit noisy). The kitchen is well stocked (though we did see some grout coming up). Kaanapali Shores does not have a beach given the beach erosion . Not a problem if you know your way around the area.
This rental was at a great price for a great condo.

This is our third time staying there, we enjoy this place. The room number 411 that we were in this time needs a little bit of maintenance ( what I am referring by maintenance is: the pillows on the sofa we’re starting to come apart, the tub drain was very very slow, the ceiling tiles in the bathroom need to be put back in place the medicine cabinet was starting to rust and the carpet in the bedroom had quite a few stains)
