We had a wonderful stay in this unit. The views are amazing and the resort amenities were great. We loved watching the whales from the porch and each sunset was more beautiful than the last. Property is well-equipped (thank you for the beach chairs!) and very comfortable.

From the moment we opened the door to the time when we had to remove our wristbands, it was a magical vacation. The unit was the best from coffee on our lanai to pictures of amazing sunsets, it was so great. We hope to come back and will be staying in this great unit:)

The property was beautiful and comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a 10 night stay and it was disappointing to have to pay for a towel refresh. I would think that new towels should have been provided after a week or halfway through our stay. Also we couldn’t use the TV in the master bedroom. Neither remote worked so the only way to turn it on was to do it manually, but couldn’t change channels. The management company was very responsive and brought us a baby booster seat and had a pack n play ready for us in the unit. It was the best location with a beautiful view! I would stay here again!!

Our group of six adults could not have been happier with this property. It had all of the amenities promised and the view from the lanai along with its roominess were perfect. The kitchen was well stocked and we did cook a few meals in it. Large bedrooms and baths were perfect. The property was clean and there was more than enough to do while on site with all of the pools, hot tubs, Dukes and the beach. The only issue we had was there were not enough electronic keys for our whole group at check-in but that was taken care of pretty quickly. We would definitely stay here again.

My family of six adults (mom, dad, 2 adult children and spouses) had a wonderful six nights in this Maui condo. The furnishings and decor are on par with a luxury hotel. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need. The ocean view is amazing. The entire process of booking, check-in and check-out couldn’t have been more easy. One of the toilets was inoperable the first night we were there (the engineering was in the room trying to fix it when we arrived), but was repaired promptly the next day. My entire family would highly recommend this condo, and if we go to Kaanapali again, we would love to stay there!

Fantastic experience. A few small blips but all handled quickly and efficiently. Maid tried to kick us out at 10 but 11am was check out. But she waited for 11. So lovely. I highly recommend.

Honua Kai is a lovely property with plenty of VRBO rentals available - DO NOT STAY AT THIS ONE. The property manager, Scott, and management company, Maui Life Realty, are horrible. Our flight was 3 hours delayed so we arrived at Honua Kai at 11pm local time. The front desk didn't have our keys and asked us to call the property manager. We called all THREE emergency contact numbers listed in the instruction email for check in assistance and no one answered or called us back. After roaming the property for an hour, we found a security guard who was able to locate the keys for us to finally get us into our room. There is no instruction booklet in the room with WIFI information (also not in the check-in email). So the next day I attempted to call someone at Maui Realty to get WIFI. I was on hold for 20 minutes and then sent to voicemail (again). At this point I found a different phone number in an email they had sent that I called. This person, Steve, immediately called me back. He is the previous owner of the unit and his number was left in the email by mistake. Steve told me that he knows Scott and is not surprised that we have had a such a terrible experience thus far. He promised to get me the WIFI information. At this point Scott Jordan sent me an email (no phone call) with the WIFI info saying the welcome booklet has gone missing. He also claimed that he didn't have any missed calls from me the night before so I sent him a screen shot of the 3 numbers I tried. I told him we were really disappointed in our stay (check-in, black hairs on the linens) and he did nothing. Not even a phone call. At the end of our stay, the previous owner Steve actually called me to apologize for how badly things were managed. I told him I would like to talk to Scott about our experience and Scott has still not returned my call.
I am also an owner and property manager of a vacation rental. I understand that things don't always go smooth and guests can be unhappy, but I respond to my guests immediately. I am always thorough and generous with my solutions to their problems. For the amount of money per night this condo charges, this should be the minimum expectation from their guests.

An absolutely wonderful experience! Renting was a breeze and property owner/manager was very communicative and informative. Views are spectacular. Our adult kids jaws hit the floor when we walked into the condo! They were oohing and aahing at both the view and the condo itself. They voted unanimously that it was the nicest place we ever stayed! We will definitely rent this unit again when we return for another vacay!

The condo was beautiful! It was all so clean & how wonderful for everyone to have their own bedroom & bathroom.
It’s a perfect location. Close to the best restaurants & shopping. (Mama’s Fish house is a little further but definitely worth the drive.) Beautiful pools for children & adults. The grounds are spectacular. The view from the condo is breathtaking. All furnishings are high quality & look new. Pictures cannot show how great this condo is. We will definitely return.

The Honua Kai Resort was amazing. Unit 929 was awesome too. The unit was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked. I would say the best of any home we have rented. Everyone we had contact with was courteous and helpful. The realty company was very organized and made sure we knew exactly what to expect they even included videos and directions. I would highly recommend this property and the realty company that manages it.

This place beat my expectations.
From the moment we opened the door and saw that ocean view I realized I did the right thing in booking this place. It really worth everything you can imagine. The localization is great, the pool and amenities are fantastic, the front beach is amazing and the sunset is gorgeous.
The check in process is supper easy and fast, 1 day before I received a welcome video explaining everything, on the arrival day you just need to mention your name and the receptionist takes care of everything.
Inside the apartment there is a guide book with all the rules, dos/donts, restaurants, places to go, explanation about how to use the appliances, how to connect on internet, where to take your trash... everything you need to know to feel home.
The view is amazing, all the rooms, living room, kitchen have ocean view. Rooms are large and beds are comfortable. Everything clean and new.
There are beach chairs, kids toys for playing at the beach, boards for surfing, snorkeling goggles...
There is a barbecue area, and on the apartment there are the barbecue utensils, there are many different sizes of pool, for swimming or relax, water slide, waterfall on the pool, lazy river, hot tubs, beach/pool towels.
My family and I loved the place, we have had wonderful moments there like cooking together seeing the ocean, drinking wine, playing games, definitely we intend to go back.
Besides that we had all the attention from the property manager, that called us and emailed us to confirm everything was ok and nothing was missing.
The check out process is also very simple, but painful because you know you are leaving the paradise.

We traveled to Maui and stayed in 929 Konea just last week. I'm still in a post-paradise slump - it was so sad to leave this beautiful place!!
We were two families of four; two adults and two kids each, ages 8 and 10. I debated a lot re hotel vs. condo. I wanted great pools, to be close to the beach and to be able to eat some meals in. I considered a hotel with a kitchenette, but after doing the math, Honua Kai just made a lot more sense. We would have paid the equivalent per night or more for the hotel amenities BUT a lot less space, an equivalent or not as nice room(s) and no view or partial view. So we decided to sacrifice the hotel amenities, and I am so glad we did! The pools at Honua Kai are wonderful for kids. There is a waterslide and waterfalls in one pool, another set of smaller pools that sort of meander with beautiful rock decor and bridges and a third more traditional, large pool. The kids were plenty entertained all week going back and forth from the three pools. Duke's also serves drinks and food poolside, so you don't lose out on that amenity. My only complaint about Honua Kai with regard to the pools in that they don't have nearly enough umbrellas. There are umbrellas in the condo, so we brought those down to provide some relief/shade from the hot sun.
The beach DIRECTLY outside Honua Kai is rocky. But you literally walk 150 feet down the beach and while it is still slightly rocky, it does not impede anyone from playing in the water, building sand castles, swimming and snorkeling. There are very tiny waves, so it's very safe too. There is snorkel equipment you can use in the condo, and it is absolutely beautiful right there. Tons of tropical fish, sea turtles and I even saw a small octopus!
The condo itself was honestly perfect. We did not feel like the kitchen was lacking at all. With 8 people, you just have to run the dishwasher every day, which should not be surprising. We had everything we needed, all the appliances were upscale and worked well. We ended up eating in 95% of our meals because between the kitchen and the outdoor bbqs, we were set. There was plenty of room for all 8 of us - we never felt cramped. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are really spacious and nice, the beds were very comfortable. Everybody slept well. As others have stated in their reviews, the thing that really makes this place truly special and worth the money is the view. It is exceptional. I spent many happy hours on that lanai!
