The well maintained Kihei Akahi complex has two swimming pools, BBQs, and a tennis court surrounded in a tropical landscaped setting. This complex is directly across the street from popular Kamaole Beach Parks II & III. Turtles regularly visit the area, staying close to the reef, so don't be surprised if you end up experiencing them up close. A short stroll to the end of road is Keawakapu Beach, another local favorite.

BEACHES & CRITTERS: The beach size in Hawaii varies month to month due to heavy surf, strong currents and tides. Due to Maui’s rural atmosphere, you may experience the occasional rooster, as well as harmless geckos. Geckos are friendly, eat insects, and are considered good luck in Hawaii. Please don’t kill them.
IMPORTANT: Although the HOA schedules regular professional pest control services, pests such as ants, roaches and rodents simply cannot be completely controlled in the tropics. Hawaii is located in a tropical climate, and insects, rodents and lizards flourish in this environment. If our guest spot more than the normal expected pests, we always make our best efforts to contact and work with the HOA to minimize your interactions with these pests. Any contact with such pests within or outside the unit does not constitute a breach of this Agreement or give Guest any right to any refund or rental adjustment.

Overall: Nice views of the ocean and sunset beyond the garden and trees. Size of unit was sufficient for our family with 3 kids. It had all the kitchen basics we needed for small meals. This property was right across the street from the beach, but this unit was the farthest away from the street entrance when walking to the beach. Opened windows let in a nice breeze, and ceiling fans worked sufficiently. AC unit was loud, but worked. Parking was fine. Restaurants nearby were great.
Swimming pools: The property swimming pools were fair. The water was clean and comfortably warm, and decently located between the four buildings within the property. We would have preferred the two swimming pools to be slightly different in depths and design to accommodate our youngest daughter who could not yet swim. There were also many rules posted in the pool area against having inflatables, which discouraged our use of floaties or pool toys, as other guests and children made unwanted comments, and my children could not have the fun they expected.
Cleanliness of unit: The overall interior and balcony area were clean and tidy. The unit had some issues with ants on the kitchen countertop, and evidence of not being thoroughly cleaned around the unit in some hidden spaces for some time. We contacted the owners and this was remedied after three days. It would have been nicer to have multiple kitchen towels for cleaning up after cooking.
Bonus: 2 boogie boards were available for use.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The condo was conveniently located to many great amenities, and most importantly it was a short walk from the beach which we enjoyed very much. Over all we loved the place and would definitely recommend to anyone. We will definitely be coming back.

The location of the condo was excellent, right across the street from a free public beach. The condo itself was OK but is showing it's age. The cabinet door under the sink was falling off the hinges. A hodge podge approach to updating but serviceable. The AC unit did not cool the 2 bedrooms but using the floor fans provided helped. A couple of the beach chairs were not functional which required our group to rent them from a 3rd party. Overall, a very good stay in Maui. BEWARE-THE CHICKENS ARE EVERYWHERE AND THE ROOSTERS START THEIR CROWING VERY EARLY!

As much as we love Kihei, we were ready to pack up and leave after our week in this condo. No AC in the bedrooms + jalousie windows = uncomfortably warm and noisy nights. Roosters seemed to crow all night.
Our group of 5 adults got in trouble for being too noisy...even normal conversation carries well due to building and window design.
Kitchen appliances are fairly new and clean, however, the cabinets, tile counters and mismatched/chipped dishes made me not want to to cook here. One cabinet door is literally falling off. Overall, it's just...icky.
Beds were comfy, with soft sheets.
Ceiling fan in one bedroom did not work.
Book a different unit in this building and you may have a better vacation!

This condo is in an older, small complex in Kihei and directly across from the beautiful Kamaole beaches (Kam II). A 4 min walk down the driveway gets you right to the beach and the neighborhood is walkable with groceries, restaurants and shops close by. We enjoyed mornings on the beach and watching the sunset each night from our lanai. If a casual, somewhat bohemian style is your thing, this condo may be right for you. The beds were quite comfortable, the appliances in the kitchen were new and the sofa and chairs in the living room had been updated. However the remainder of the furnishings were more on the order of flea market finds, well-used and worn out. The bathroom showers have been nicely updated but the bathrooms still seemed “old”. While the appliances in the kitchen were new, the tile countertops were chipped and badly repaired and the cupboard doors were in need of an update and refresh. In fact all of the updates had been poorly executed (low quality paint job, lack of re-texturizing around new ceiling fans, chipped and filled countertops). However, the Ceiling fans and the fact that this is a corner unit provided us all the air circulation and cooling needed. We never had to use the AC even on 80+ degree days. The lanai provides a great view of the sunset and ocean in several directions and north toward Maalea Harbor. If you’re looking for a great location in Kihei and don’t mind a not-so-luxurious condo, this may be the place for you!

We enjoyed our stay in this ocean view, close to the beach, lovely condo. Equipped with everything we needed for the few days of stay - especially the necessities for the beach & to cook meals (just need groceries). Our only complaint are the shades on the doors to the lanai are hard to open & close - need to be replaced, and we couldn’t figure out how to work the TV’s so we just didn’t watch tv, plus we were out all day anyway. We truly enjoyed our stay here & highly recommend it. Mahalo!

The unit was a good size with two separate bedrooms each with its own bath. The views from the balcony are nice, you can see Molokini, Molokai, and Lanai. The kitchen is showing some wear and tear, but is perfectly functional. One warning though, there are birds in the trees just below the bedroom window that are early risers! They do leave after awhile.
