We have stayed at the Honua Kai resort at a different unit in the past. We love the location and amenities of Honua Kai. The communication with this property management company for this unit was good, but as per the last review, there is a cockroach issue and the property management company needs to be more serious on how to address it.
I highly recommend Honua Kai, but suggest looking for a different unit to stay in.

Good location close to the beaches and pools. Not a big fan of cockroaches and there were many in the unit. They did treat the unit while we were there but there were just as many as before they sprayed. Other than that a good place to stay.

We had a lovely stay at the Honua Kai resort in Maui! The unit was exactly as advertised, with absolutely breathtaking views on the lanai (though super windy) and a very spacious living room and bedrooms. They provided beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and more, which made for super convenient beach trips. Some cons: We did see a few cockroaches in the bathrooms over the course of our stay, and found a diaper under the couch, presumably from a previous patron. Given the emphasis on cleaning from the property manager, we were a bit surprised to find remnants from the people who stayed in the unit before us. All in all, however, we enjoyed our stay and especially appreciated the convenience of Duke’s downstairs and close access to the beach.

The resort was amazing. The pools, the beach, the landscaping all incredible!!
There were a few bugs but if you take the trash out daily and keep all food stored, it will help.
Check in and check out were super easy. Will recommend and hope to return!!!

What a beautiful resort and condo! My daughter’s family of 4 and I were so comfortable here and enjoyed every minute. Wonderful pools, gracious staff, comfortable beds, and of course, beautiful Maui all made our stay so memorable. I highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a place to stay in Maui.

Overall the room was clean and we were surprised at how spacious it was. Check in process was easy and the baby rental place that was recommended by our host was able to drop everything off in the room prior to us arriving and then picked everything up after we had checked out which worked out perfectly for our 5am departure. We appreciated the extra beach towels and additional amenities in the unit too- pack n play, beach chairs, umbrellas etc. There were a few things that needed attention (broken tub drain + some burnt out bulbs) but the host was quick to respond and resolved them right away. Our only real complaint was that we did see many small cockroaches throughout our stay even prior to bringing our own food in. I did read that it could be a problem in the rental listing so I wasn’t completely surprised to see them but it still grossed us out none the less. One other thing I will mention is that the mountain side of the building does get very windy (though this could be dependent of time of year) so we really couldn’t use our lanai because of the wind which is a shame because the view was just beautiful- rainbows almost every day with the mountain back drop. Overall would definitely recommend this unit and the honua kai resort.

This condo was beautiful and well appointed. Tons of beach chairs and toys. Everything was very clean. Small snafu with the check in code at arrival (new system) but the property manager were quick and responsive. Beautiful view of the mountains. Highly recommend for families!

The condo was clean and comfortable with plenty of room for our family of 5. We loved the beautiful view from the lanai. The resort was also clean and our kids loved the pools. We especially loved how easy was to walk down to the beach to hang out. The snorkeling was great along the beach. We saw lots of fish and a few sea turtles. We also got to see several whales blowing and breaching the surface. It was nice being so close to Duke’s inventions of our family’s favorite places to eat.

We love staying at Honua Kai. This unit has 2 large bedrooms and bathrooms. Property management was very communicative and available. Perfect week in Maui!

Vacation Maui was very responsive from the very beginning when we were just inquiring about the unit. They immediately took care of our questions and concerns and were committed to providing us a nice vacation. During our stay, they addressed issues right away.
The unit was large enough for a family with adult children. Beds were comfortable including the sofa bed. Fully equipped Kitchen was extremely helpful that allowed us to cook meals on some days.

Our family of 6 enjoyed one full week at this property. The kitchen was well stocked so we could cook nearly every meal. The beds were actually the most comfortable I've ever slept in at a rental property, not too fluffy not too firm. The property was clean and amenities at Honua Kai were great including the pool and coffee shop downstairs. The beach was a quick walk on the boardwalk and my kids had the best week ever. Sunsets were stunning!

This was a beautiful property. Could use a few more things in the kitchen such as a bigger pot some dishcloths and some Tupperware containers. Soap dish for shower would be great. Otherwise very great stay!!!

We had a very late flight. We didn’t mind the 10am check out ( 11am would be better). Wish there was a way to store our luggage , stay at the beach, at least till 1pm. Just my thought

My family of 6 had a great experience at this unit for a week. The place is very clean and well appointed. Beds are comfy including the sofa bed. It was by far the most comfortable sofa mattress I’ve ever lied down on and my kids never complained. All other beds and furniture was very comfy as well. Kitchen fully stocked with quality cookware. Towels and lines clean. And a nice little extra, beach chairs, body boards and a cooler is included.
Michelle was the best “point of contact” that handled every small issue immediately that we had, and there were not many. Honua Kai is located in the best place for families. The beach out front is nice, Dukes is great to have onsite, and the grocery store and a food truck area is a 10 minute walk. Honua Kai is a resort and so this is a nice place to rent for families.

Amazing property all the way around! Great location, views and extra accommodations. Property owner went above and beyond supplying beach chairs, snorkel equipment, umbrella and coolers to name a few. Extremely responsive to any needs. Fantastic communication before and during the stay to ensure we had everything we needed and a smooth checkin process. The room had everything you needed. Our family of 6 couldn’t be more pleased, would definitely go back and highly recommend!

Only negative was the huge cherry picker machines on sight the resort was using to pressure wash the buildings. They were there the entire week of our stay.

Beautiful unit and property! The pools were a lot of fun and open late! Unit was nice and clean, provided pretty much everything except shampoo. Only weird thing is the steep $400+ cleaning fee when it was our job to clean everything except for doing the laundry… also a sign saying we aren't allowed to apply lotion inside the unit- I understand the concern about spray sunscreens, but just regular lotion?! But other than those small quirks, would stay here again!

We had a great time in this condo. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious, the kitchen had just enough to be able to cook meals and the Mountain View’s were lovely. The check-in & check out were easy. The property manager was able by text and was super responsive. My only suggestion for improvement is that the bathroom tiles in the showers really could use a good deep cleaning and re-grout. Other than that, the unit was in good shape and was perfect for a family with young kids and aging adults.

Everything was wonderful with our stay at Honua Kai 934. The unit was perfect, and Michelle was a great contact to have on the island and super responsive. Thank you for helping to make it a family vacation we will not soon forget!
