Rental (condo) was as advertised & depicted. Well appointed. Comfortable. Well equipped. Had to relocate to different unit several days into stay to allow access for repair/maintenance to lanai. Back pain kept me from moving baggage so PrM team (Tracy & Taina) kindly moved baggage to another unit which was even better than the 1st. Overall good experience.

Easy walk to Kona downtown, covered parking, corner unit ON the ocean, with breaking waves below, Large deck. The kitchen is well stocked, King bed. The only downside is the bathroom is small, but we will stay here again.

The location was perfect, the view off the wrap around balcony was amazing! We had a wonderful time and didn’t lack anything during our stay!

This condo was beautiful! You can not beat the views from the lanai! We got to watch two sea turtles play in the surf every day, it was amazing!

Unit was a lot smaller than expected. Too cluttered with furniture in living area. No table for dining; expected to use small kitchen shelf. As far as the view from the condo and is location it was excellent

I have been staying in Hala Kona Kai for 14 years and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else! I am already booked for next year!

Property was just as pictured, except the views and sounds of the ocean were better! Check-in and parking were easy. Everything we needed (even a beach cooler and snorkel equipment) were provided. The hotel next door is still under construction, but we were mostly there over the weekend, so it didn’t bother us at all.

The condo unit was fine and worked out well for us. We had the one night of some water damage on the floor after a downpour rain but got it cleaned up. We couldn't find the source.

You get a beautiful view of the ocean both to the west and north. Perfect for a one bedroom plus. Within walking distance of almost every thing.

Very nice with exceptional view. We had a short stay, but the condo has a great wraparound lanai to enjoy mornings and evenings. Kitchen is well appointed for cooking and had basic amenities (salt, pepper, oil), and the property provides cleaning products for the kitchen and laundry and bathing. A real plus. Very nice setup !

This unit is walking distance to downtown Kona which is great because there is now a charge for parking in town. Although the lanai is large and partially oceanfront, the view from the master bedroom is of the hotel next door which is under construction. It was not loud or a problem, but we chose a unit with a smaller lanai with an ocean view for our next visit.

Perfect location, and couldn't be closer to the ocean.

October 2023
We enjoyed our stay, all the basics were provided and plenty of towels. Seems prior guests also left snorkeling gear if needed. The first morning there, the seas were so rough a wave soaked us and left a salty taste in our coffee.

October 2023
You don't get any better ocean view, breeze, and sound of the waves crashing than this. The condo was fully equipped with everything you'd need, but there's just a lot of clutter inside, which made it feel not quite as peaceful for me. That being said, I like very minimal décor so others may think it's perfectly Hawaiian. Tracy was really easy to work with and very accommodating and helpful with my special requests.

I really loved this rental! It was soooo relaxing, sitting out on the balcony, enjoying the view. A great place to stay! Just a note - some people might want to know for safety - the balcony door does not lock because of the air conditioning panel. I felt a little weary about this and the property manager did not respond to the video I sent. Great parking, it has an elevator to get to 2nd floor, well stocked, comfortable couch, bed, etc. Would stay here again!

My initial thoughts were that the property was much smaller than the photographs showed. However, after getting settled in, we really enjoyed everything about 213. There was a little noise from next-door, where the Royal Kona resort is being renovated. But this has a little effect on our enjoyment of the lanai. We had some trouble figuring out the television channels at first(!) Location is first rate. Easy walking distance to anything you want along Ali’i Drive. All in all, very enjoyable.

The location of the condo to the heartbeat of Kona was spot on. Restaurants, shops, historical sites, and entertainment were minutes away from Hale Kona Kai. The furnishings of the condo were beautiful and the photos accurate and representative of the actual decor. The sunset views from the rap around lanai were awesome. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

My husband and I booked a late trip to go enjoy our wedding anniversary & get some dives in. We enjoyed: Location is perfect, within walking distance to all restaurants, shops, etc. View is lovely looking out over the ocean & listening to the waves crash right outside your lanai. The a/c was fixed & worked great. The kitchen had everything needed, was stocked & worked well for us. There were beach chairs, snorkel gear, towels, etc. We didn’t enjoy: Place was small & only surface clean. Things were wiped down, vacuumed, mopped, etc. But there was so much caked on (moist) dust on everything that I spent the first 1/2 day cleaning everything so I could be comfortable. For example: I threw my pillow down after fluffing it & a cloud of clumpy dust blew up everywhere. On further inspection the entire headboard (wood) was covered in that gross wet clumpy dust. I went to plug in my phone charger & the wood on the side tables was the same. I put all the fake plants outside because the wet dust was so thick on them. The lamps, backs of the tv, all the a/c vents & return were thick with dust. I’m not talking about a months worth of dust. I’m talking thick, moist, layers of neglectful dust. Sheets & towels are TIRED & need replacements. Construction is going on at the Royal Kona & our building had a new security system installed during our stay. No naps for us, just constant drilling. Place is outdated & needs love. Please talk to your cleaners to do a more thorough job.

August 2023
Condo was located right on the ocean as advertised. We really liked the view from the patio. We seldom used our rental car because the condo was so close to town. We walked to local restaurants and stores. Very convenient.

July 2023
We had a wonderful time at the Hale Kona Kai. The condo was clean and well-equipped. It could use a little updating, but it had everything we needed. The location could not be beat. The frogs, however, were very loud all night long. Nothing you all can do about that but they were a distraction from the lovely nighttime surf. All and all it was a great place and I would stay there again for sure. Thank you.

June 2023
The place is within walking distance of everything you need. Restaurants, shops, bars and entertainment. The place was very clean and well stocked with dishes, pots and pans to cook with, beach equipment and beach towels. The lani is a wrap around which was nice. There is AC in the central area but we didn't need it, the ceiling fan and the ocean breeze were enough. In the bedroom was a small AC unit which made it very comfortable to sleep in. I would make one suggestion because there is a lagoon and trees right next to the unit there were the sounds of birds and frogs all night long. If you are sensitive to noise, I would suggest bringing earplugs. The AC unit in the bedroom did act as a white noise fan, but I was sensitive to the wildlife sounds. All in all, it was a great unit.

The property is well maintained, clean and neat. They provived everything needed for a nice stay. Spectacular view, great wrap around balcony, you will want to spend some time there.

May 2023
Nice but dated condo with a fantastic oceanfront view. Had everything we needed for the stay. AC was broken during our stay but there was a floor AC in the bedroom so wasn't too bad. Walking distance to a some nice bars and restaurants and an ABC store. No close beach, had to travel for that. No amenities other than the pool. Small bathroom and shower but was sufficient. Overall a decent place to say if you don't want a resort.

The corner lanai was the highlight here. Such beautiful views. Condo was very clean and well equipped .

March 2023
One of the best settings and views on the island. This condo is well equipped, has fantastic access to Kona’s restaurants (roughly 5 minute walk), and it is a relatively quiet neighborhood. The overall setup is geared more towards empty nesters as the pool is small and it’s quite a distance to nice sandy beaches for children.

December 2022
Town is an easy walking distance with many restaurants 5 mins away. Also, you would have to be in a boat to get closer to the water!!! Beautiful view! Service/check in/out, responsiveness all great. Place was immaculate with a well-stocked kitchen. The only not positive comment is the interiors are dated.

December 2022
I've stayed in a number of units at Hale Kona Kai in recent years, but my most recent stay in #213 was the best. Direct ocean front views and a wrap around lanai overlooking the wedding venue of the adjacent Royal Kona Surf make for memorable vistas. The unit is thoroughly upgraded and appointed. There's new tile flooring throughout including the bathroom shower stall. I'd recommend the unit enthusiastically. The agents who represent the owner are on site and are immediately available to assist with any detail.

Beautifully kept and updated-- the new walk-in shower is gorgeous. Proximity to waves on rocks is the best. While half of it is facing the neighboring resort this was not a problem-- luaus were early and quiet.

The corner view unit was a wonderful way to start your mornings on Kona. The pool was also a fun addition after the day in the sun. We will recommend!

August 2022
Watching sunset and the moon set into the ocean was amazing, you could almost touch the ocean from the lanai! Well appointed kitchen, comfy furniture, very comfy king bed with very nice linens! Cable TV and fast internet. Super nice bathroom with walk in shower. Kona Beach Property folks were very welcoming and helpful, loved the welcome bag with coffee, water and a snack, thank you! Easy check in and check out, I will return to Hale Kona Kai 213.

August 2022
The pictures say it all. Directly on ocean, has everything you need for your stay. Only thing could have been better was if the air conditioning was working. They have a portable one in the bedroom but it was still humid. Not bad in the mornings but by early evening when the sun is setting it gets warm. Beautiful sunsets though. Great lanai!

Awesome views, great place! Would definitely stay again! Very convenient to old Kona town.

June 2022
We had a few hiccups, and the lack of air conditioning was disappointing because, instead of falling asleep to the sound of the waves, we were assaulted with the sound of a jet engine coming from the portable a/c. Room was well, supplied and comfortable. Great location for walking to restaurants, shops, etc.

June 2022
Location of Unit 213, and Hale Kona Kai, is amazing. This is the second time 99 nights) staying in this unit and third time at Hale Kona Kai. Literally right on the water. The unit was clean and fully equipped with everything you need.

June 2022
This was an amazing place to spend the week. The views are phenomenal - the wrap-around lanai was the perfect place to enjoy my coffee in the morning with a good book. The location is the perfect distance from Kailua Town to walk but not have loud traffic noise. Even though the air conditioning was out while I was there, the breezes were cool and the air conditioning unit in the bedroom helped to keep it cool enough to sleep. Thank you for a great place to stay!!

May 2022
We wanted to be close to the harbor and downtown Kailua-Kona area, but we also wanted a quieter place where we could just watch the ocean and relax. This place delivered. The bed was comfortable. The condo was clean and nice. The A/C was out during our stay and the first day was muggy and uncomfortable, but the rental management company put a portable a/c unit in the bedroom which was great as it helped us stay cool and sleep well at night. We could open the windows and turn on the fans and be okay in the living room during the day as long as the humidity was moderate. Communication with the rental company was great. They even left us coffee and some water and some snacks, which we really(!) appreciated. It was nice to wake up and be able to have a fresh cup of genuine (100%) Kona coffee our first morning there. The pictures others have posted are real. You are right on the water! The sunsets were amazing. We loved the lanai (patio). Plenty of seating and the furniture was quality and comfortable. The TV worked well and the internet was excellent (300Mbps download speed!) There were books to read, too. I know this is going to sound weird, but I also want to point out how great it was to have QUALITY toilet paper and paper towels at this place. It was thick, two-ply stuff which surprised us (in a pleasant way!) Thank you for that. This is a well-managed condo. Bring quarters for the washer and dryers that are down the hall. Don't leave any food out. If you've been to Hawaii before you are already aware of how pervasive the 'sugar ants' are! They are harmless and won't show up unless you leave food out. If you wonder why the sugar is kept in the fridge, now you know. If there was any 'negative' it was that for three days the people upstairs literally "tromped" around. It sounded like they were renovating or redecorating? Back and forth, back and forth, very heavy footsteps. It was odd. One morning they started at 7:30am. The next, 7:15am. The next? 6:45am!? Seriously? Thankfully my wife sleeps w/earplugs and they didn't wake her up or there would have been words exchanged. But it was ridiculous. Totally NOT the fault of the condo owners or management team, but still aggravating none-the-less. It seemed like a 'one-off' situation so I wouldn't worry that this is an ongoing thing. Just the way it goes sometimes. Overall, this place was AWESOME! We would recommend it. You'll love it. You can walk to everything, but still have peace & quiet.

April 2022
We had a great experience at Hale Kona Kai unit 213!! The unit was exceptionally clean, great view, and the location was perfect. There was a gift bag upon arrival and even cute leis on the bedroom pillows! We were able to walk to dinner every night and walk to the downtown strip for shopping. Would definitely stay here again. The lanai was gorgeous with plenty of seating and we could watch the luau next store and hear the music — very cool! We used the binoculars to check out the dolphins jumping in the water — very awesome! I also really appreciated the extra towels! This made it so we didn’t have to do laundry every day so the extra towels were great — thank you! The AC was broken upon arrival and we received communication the next afternoon - this is truly the only disappointment I have. Just would have preferred a heads up the day of arrival. We were offered a bedroom AC unit though which was awesome but with the breeze, we didn’t need it. We loved our stay and will definitely be back! One recommendation for future guests — bring enough quarters for the laundry room! The dryer usually needs two cycles to dry towels … so bring $3.00 for a standard load and $4.50 for towels. Thank you for sharing your great room with us!

We travel a lot and this place is a gem! Large lanai right on the ocean, pool just steps away (usually to ourselves) and unit was fully stocked and clean. It’s walking distance to everything on Alli Road, which is the Front Street (ocean drive) of the Kailua Kona area. Quiet location with a assigned garage (covered) parking spot. There is snorkel gear, beach chairs, towels, etc. We spent a month in Hawaii and we were in several nice places. The 9 days here were the best! I love Maui but staying here made me a big fan of the Big Island.

Beautifully located just above the crashing waves. Perfect balcony for watching the sunset. Fully equipped including snorkel gear, umbrellas and beach chairs

January 2022
From great communication from rental team to everything we needed in a condo this place met that!!! The condo was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay including the most magnificent ocean views- the waves crash just below you that you can feel the spray! It is close to town for easy walks and assigned parking spots was so nice too. The pool area is smaller but we never had issues getting a spot to relax but if we did we always had the best spot on our balcony ! Great internet when needed. There are chairs, umbrella, small cooler and boogie boards if you need them- always a plus know these are available. Thanks for sharing this condo with us!

December 2021
My husband and I rented unit 213 for six nights / 7 days. We found the unit met our needs. Check-in and out were seamless. Pre-arrival communication was timely, clear, and prompt. The one issue was the wifi was painfully slow and unusable. We used our cell phones as personal hotspots to get online and answer emails. The furnishings of the unit were a bit outdated but well cared for. We spent much time outside on the wraparound balcony listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the lava rocks below. This in and of itself was the reason we look forward to staying here again. The condo is located within walking distance of restaurants and shops. We enjoyed strolling to get coffee each morning. The reason we did not mark our stay as "excellent" was really a function of safety. The building stairs and access to the units are open-air, and there is no barrier to walking the unit hallways nor a gate between the road and the parking garage. On our last evening there, we walked down to see a random person loitering in the garage smoking. This was made more unnerving by the open-air drug scene at the end of the block, which comprised a group of people that became more aggressive as the week went on. While cameras are visible on the property, securing the driveway, garage, and stairs up to the units would be welcomed.

November 2021
We really enjoyed our stay at Hale Kona Kai. The condo had everything we needed for our stay from the beach chairs, towels and snorkel gear to the coffee grinder and maker. The wrap around balcony made our view right over the water spectacular. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage and closet space. The welcome bag of coffee and snacks was a nice gesture. The location was perfect, walkable to everything in town but far enough away that it was quiet. We would defiantly stay here again if we visit Kona again.

It was beautiful. Only negative was the grill. It wasn’t very accessible for us.

October 2021
Unfortunately the air conditioner stopped working on the 15th. We didn't find out about it till the day we landed on the 25th. However they did give us a discount. But it was extremely hot. Would of rather had air. The manager office is not open on weekends so we had to wait till Monday to get a fan.

September 2021
This condo was everything it was advertised to be. Huge lanai with amazing views and walking distance to town/restaurants. Condo was well stocked too. The only small negative was that the A/C was not working during our stay, but it was the case for the whole complex. Got a little hot at night, but it was manageable. Would stay again!

Great spot to explore Kona. Balcony view is amazing - better spot to enjoy the sunset than the restaurants! Short walk to town and enjoyed falling to sleep to the sounds of crashing waves. Place is small but just right for 2 people.

April 2019
This was our 9th stay in #213 at Hale Kona Kai. We cannot ever imagine staying anywhere else for our vacation in Kona every year! The people who work here are friendly and professional and the unit itself is like a home away from home. The location can't be beat! We are booked for next year and, God willing, many years after that!

We enjoyed our stay in hale Kona kai. The rooms were comfortable. Sitting on the lanai watching the wales and the dolphins swimming by is Amazing. Kailua-Kona is a nice short walk to all the restaurants and shops

December 2018
This was the third time two of us have stayed at Hale Kona Kai, the first time in #213. Making the reservation, accessing the condo and parking were very easy and efficient. The unit was clean, with plenty of room for two people. We enjoyed the view from the wrap around lanai which looked over to the Royal Kona Resort on one side and out over the ocean on the other. There were comfortable seating choices on the lanai. The close proximity to Kona and Ali'i Drive is a big plus, easy to walk a few minutes to see the tourist parts of town and also to a grocery store and farmers market. It is not a big, new, fancy resort but it is a clean, comfortable place in a great location.

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
