This condo sits at Maui Sands is an Ocean Front Property, with a spectacular view of the islands of Molokai and Lanai.
The interior of the unit has been designed with serenity in mind, and was inspired by the architecture of wooden tall ships. There is a large teak island adjacent to the kitchen and creates plenty of space for both the chef and the diner!
The end unit provides an extra window for maximizing the benefits of the cool ocean trade winds.
With extra living space on the large lanai, you can enjoy delicious meals or a superb Maui evening. We have a wonderful garden view, surprisingly private with a peekaboo view of the ocean framed by palms and fragrant plumeria trees.
There are plenty of built in drawers and cabinets for our guests, with TV's in both the living area and bedroom.
The seawall and ocean shore is literally 30 steps from you front door! You will enjoy the fresh clean air and hear ocean waves from every room!
Please note the ocean front is beach area varies with tides and time of year. Rising ocean levels shift the sand back and forth quite a bit. There are wider sandy beaches in walking distance both north and south of the property.
The entire condo is accessible by the guest other than a small owner lockout.
Check in time is 5pm and check out 11am.

A low density property, Maui Sands glows with ambiance and charm of Old Hawaii. We have 52 units in six 2-story buildings on three plus park-like acres. We are in the heart of Honokawai, close to delicious take-in and dine-out restaurants, as well as shopping, grocery stores, and the award winning Farmer's Market.
This is a lovely neighborhood with a mix of permanent residents and favorite local business alongside shops that cater to our visitors. It is the kind of neighborhood where strangers say Aloha as they pass on the street.
Honokawai is located on the Northwest shore of Maui, with views of the islands on Molokai and Lanai across the channel. Maui Sands epitomizes old school Hawaii ambience. This is a low density property , with beautiful grounds, including mango and banana trees.
We are a very easy short walk from some lovely beaches, and Honokawai Park. There are many good local restaurants for breakfast lunch and dinner, multi-cultural food trucks, a large Times grocery store, The Farmers Market, a health food store, a coffee shop, and some spa facilities, all within a 3-5 minute walk. One of ours and our guests favorite things about this location is The Farmers Market that is a very short walk away just north of the condo and across from the Honokawai Beach Park. They hold a special outdoor produce market with free samples on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, but they offer fresh organic produce and an excellent deli from 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week.
A short drive south to the Whalers Village, and further on to Lahaina brings to great Front Street shopping and historic sights. The Historic Town of Lahaina (once the capital of Hawaii) has something for everyone including Warren and Annabelles Magic Show (some of the best close hand magic we've ever seen).
The Wharf in Lahaina has its share of wonderful excursions to choose from as well. We particularly like Trilogy for a day trip to the Island of Lanai. There are many sunset cruise to choose from along with snorkeling, fishing, sailing, and whale watching trips to fit most budgets. North towards Kapalua there are three more championship golf courses, as well as fabulous beach walks and mountain side hiking! Nothing like a sunset view from the side of a volcano!
We are within minutes of some terrific restaurants and a short drive from many more. Ocean gear such as fishing equipment, snorkel gear, and kayaks can be rented within walking distance. There is a bicycle and scooter rental across the street. Some of our favorite Island Highlights would be: traveling the road to Hana, with water falls and sightseeing around every bend: sunrise or sunset viewing from the top of our volcano, Haleakala; picnicking at historic I'ao Valley, with a short walk up to I'ao Needle and back by way of I'ao Stream Trail, and many more!
If you decide to forgo renting a car for part or all of your visit, there are many alternative means of transportation available for you.
The Maui Bus stops in front of the ABC store just next door and south of the property. The fee is $2 per leg of your trip per person, and they don't make change.
Uber and Lyft is also available as are traditional cab services. You may decide to leave the driving to someone else and take a tour to visit Hana or Haleakala. We like Roberts Hawaii but there are other companies out there that do a great job as well.
If you do decide to rent a car, there are local car rental companies available that do airport pick up.
One note of caution, The Maui Bus does not allow luggage to be brought on board, so this isn't a good way to get to or from the airport.
*This condo has split AC units in both the bedroom and the living area.
*We take your safety and well-being seriously. We have a comprehensive cleaning and sanitizing program for this property. Our cleaning service and on-site staff are spending as much time as necessary to make sure that all areas of your rental are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before you check in.
*Please note, this is a second floor unit in a 2 story building. If you are booking with children, we require "indoor feet" from all our guests, no matter their age. :)
We ask you to plan ahead as we may not be able to allow early check ins and late check outs as often as we would like.
The cleaning service charges an additional fee of $75 for Thanksgiving and Christmas day check ins.

I couldn't be happier with my stay at this beautiful condo at Maui Sands. The unit was perfectly described in its VRBO listing and had any and all amenities one would need while vacationing in Maui for a week. I personally oved the teak wood finishes and big open windows letting in that ocean breeze which surround you in main living quarters of the unit. This is my second stay at Maui Sands and I truthfully can't imagine staying at any other unit upon my next return. You are literally 30 steps away from the ocean where you can actually see the Pacific from your lanai surrounded by lush tropical foliage which is as beautiful as it is private. Check in was super easy, as was communicating with Heather, who promptly responded to the few texts I sent her way upon my arrival. I also loved the surrounding neighborhood where you have nearly everything you need within a short walking distance - a supermarket, restaurants, an ABC store (for your toiletries and snacks whenever needed), coffee shop, bike rentals, and even a food truck court - all just a stone's throw away from Maui Sands. Above and beyond all that, you can also walk the beach at low tide to so many great restaurants and beach front destinations (including Dukes which has a happy hour definitely worth checking out). Needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone looking for a comfortable, stress-free, and beautiful time in West Maui. Can't wait for my next return! :)

Don't let the dated outside fool you. The inside is clean and well-appointed. My idea of oceanfront means at least a view of the water from the place. This filter was a bit misleading and is my only disappointment. The community is certainly oceanfront, but the only place to see the water from the unit is from one seat at the far side of the balcony if you peek between trees. Check out the live music at Java Jazz in the evenings in walking distance.

Wow! This was supposed to be a trip for myself and my husband, but I ended up being there alone through a series of events. I felt very safe there as a woman traveling alone. The property is beautiful. I was able to s t a r g a z e every night and I watched high tide every morning from the grassy Terrace. My husband and I will be coming back together and we will definitely be staying here again.!

We had a great stay at Maui Sands! A quick review for those who really care about reviews before booking:
Pros:
- great location
- easy beach access around the neighborhood
- cute home, AC is great, good WiFi and household needs
- easy check in and great communication.
- lots of amenities at the property (though we didn’t spend much time there!)
- beach supplies, cooler, boogie board and beach cHairs!
Cons:
- needs a bit of an update (this didn’t bother us!) a few holes in the walls, covered with duck tape or boards.
- not as clean as we would’ve liked (in the hidden places, not in the “living spaces). Reached under the bed/behind the dresser to plug in chargers and it was covered in dust.
- lots of rust (comes with humid weather) but needs some cleaning around all door hinges, door knobs, etc.- sliding door was a bit noisy!
Overall, would stay here again. We aren’t picky and thoroughly loved our stay!

The condo is cute and right next to the ocean. There are shops, a playground and a small beach nearby.
The owner and property manager were very helpful and accommodating. This is a great alternative to renting a hotel room for a couple or a small family.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location is great. It is walking distance to many shops, which we liked. Close enough to Lahaina to enjoy restaurants, beaches etc. Unit has a nice layout and was well equipped.

The apartment was clean and had everything we needed. We arrived in Maui shortly after 12 pm and had to wait until 5 pm to check in. I sent Heather an email asking her if we could check in before 5 pm, but received no response. We also were bothered by the smell of marijuana from seemingly many users of the building complex.

It had an island feel, quiet community, backed up to the beach, very nice. I would start there again. And it’s located near great beaches and right down the street from the food trucks, which are the best way to eat on the island

This is an older condo development, but our unit was well maintained and very clean. The condo was well stocked with plates, glasses, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and cleaning supplies. It had everything that we needed. The air conditioning was a wall unit in the main area, but we did not use it much since it was comfortable with the breeze blowing with the windows/blinds open. The condo has wood floors that we liked since it stays clean as opposed to carpet which can get dirty and worn. We enjoyed sitting outside on the deck. Although the unit does does have an ocean front, it is close to the ocean and has an ocean view between buildings that allowed us to see the Maui sunset over the ocean. The unit also had a storage box on the deck with beach chairs, body board, swim fins and snorkel as well as a small cooler that we used on our road trips around Maui - that was appreciated. The unit is on the second level so you do have steps to climb to access the unit and there is no elevator. The steps were not a problem for us, but you might want to be aware of it if you were physically impaired. There is no sand beach in front of the development, but you do have access to the ocean. There are public beaches not far from the condo that we used for beach access. The beach chairs and cooler were nice to have when going to the beach. The condo is located a few miles North of the Kaanapali Beach resorts. Across the street from the condo, is a strip mall that has a couple of good take-out restaurants that were very good for fresh fish, and a grocery store a few blocks down the street. It has a full size bed in the bedroom that was adequate (good mattress) but we are used to a king-size bed. It was fine for our stay. We had excellent communications with Jay the owner and Heather the property manager who were both very helpful and accommodating. Overall, it was a comfortable, pleasant stay.
