This was a return stay at a lovely property. Our primary goal in booking a condo is ocean access and this property has a wonderful beach within walking distance. Second goal is a condo that is clean and comfortable. This condo is spotless! Incredible view, very quiet, easy parking, easy walk to town. And we VERY MUCH appreciated the beach chairs! This was our first visit to the Big Island. Our unit was perfect. We watched surfers every morning and afternoon from the lanai which had a totally unobstructed view of the water. Unit was spotless and so beautifully furnished, everything just as advertised. We will certainly be back.

This unit was amazing. Super clean, beautiful view from a big oceanfront lanai, great amenities and great location. My wife and I were totally impressed with the property as a whole. All the shops and restaurants on Ali'i Drive (downtown Kona) were within walking distance from the Kona Reef property so if you have a rental car during your stay there is no need to pay for parking downtown. The beach amenities were also a pleasant surprise, we definitely took advantage of the beach chairs when going to places like Kua Bay beach (highly recommend, go early!).

We were very comfortable, the one bedroom was perfect. The condo was clean and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans and silverware. The ocean view was spectacular. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch on the lanai. We also had afternoon naps on chaise lounges. Customer service was excellent, they found my sunglasses, notified me and made arrangements for their return. The proximity to Kona was good. Overall this condo D-26 made for a great vacation. I would recommend it as a 10 out of 10.

I love it when you book something through Monday, but they only except the booking until Sunday and then don’t tell you. And then they’re so lovely that they kick you out on the day before your flight. And it’s so much fun having no place to stay for one night. And then when you call and contact them, nobody calls you back or tells you when they do give you a short text to find a hotel. So I don’t know if it’s the property manager that accepted it only for their dates and not telling us that they were a day short. Or if it was VBRO. But one of them made a boo-boo and didn’t tell us and it was not a fun experience . The worst part is the property manager made no attempt to make it right they just kick us out kind of rude actually so thanks for that. when I did find out, I had a place at a hotel. The hotel manager did tell me that that’s a very common thing with the property managers in Hawaii where at least in Kona. so if you’re in Kona, you better stick with a hotel they can at least be trusted.

Condo was perfect for 2 people. It was stocked with everything we needed. Didn't do any cooking but did enjoy morning coffee and evening wine on lanai. Good location - very walkable to all shops and restaurants. Property management accessible for the one issue we had. Would definitely rent that unit again.

The location of this condo is great! We could easily walk to town and several restaurants. The lanai was perfect with amazing views. The only issue we had was the toaster-it wouldn’t engage down. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Would recommend this condo for a quiet relaxing vacation!

Nice unit. Clean except some ants around sink. Manager responded promptly and advised spray and traps located under sink which I could use. Also I arrived after dark and security lighting not working outside entrance so couldn’t see keypad buttons to enter until I retrieved flashlight. Being on vacation I’m not use to having to follow checkout instructions that lessen the housekeeper’s duties. I’m a neat person but and travel a lot but seemed more than average for the price. Otherwise quite comfortable with walking distance < 1 mile to shops and Restaurants. Lots of beach gear available to use along with a lending library. Probably would look toward other options if I was to return as price comparable to some hotels.

The little condo is ocean front, and we saw whales jumping everythime we enjoyed the lanai. Even though we had a car, we were able to walk to Kailua Kona for dinner every night in about 12 minutes. I recommend.

We enjoyed every minute of our 11 day stay. It has been nicely updated. The lounges on the lanai were a nice plus. This unit is an easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Kailua. The ONLY downfall was the old washer/dryer unit. Time for the owners to replace the noisy old thing. If you have mobility issues, be aware that the elevator is 1/2 floor off from the units in the building. We would love to return to Kona Reef D-26.

We stayed in Kona Reef condominiums’ complex for the second time and will be back here again! This is an amazing place you would stay on the island. It’s only 5 min walk to Kona Town and it’s next to the little Honl’s beach where you can relax on the send listening to the surf and tropical birds. Unit#D26 is very clean and has everything for your happy stay and joyful vacation: the comfortable King size bed, kitchenware, washer/drier, AC and the balcony with spectacular view! Oh, the balcony is probably the best part of the condo I would stay all day and night ) The sunsets were stunning and picturesque. We loved to observe starts and a full moon on the night sky. At mornings we enjoyed watching tropical yellow fishes in the curling turquoise waves, dolphins and whales! Yes, you may see whales just from the balcony during this time of the year. Overall, this cozy oceanfront condo is the great place to stay.It’s only one thing I would recommend the owner is to add more decorations in the leaving room to make it more fashionable. However, it didn’t bother me at all because we came to be pleased by natural wonder of Island of Hawai’i. Mahalo!

I don't know where else you can be right on the surf from your lanaii, right next to a small local beach with surfers and boogie boarders to watch from the lanaii or beach, hear and see the waves and surf, pool, grilling and many amenities and still be only a 5 minute walk to downtown kona. It's our 4th stay there, so that's saying something.

The apartment was lovely with a gorgeous sea view. It was clean and everything worked for us. The only issue we had was there were no parking permits in unit even though in the instructions it said they would be there and were needed in the apartment complex. We arrived about 8pm at night and the person I called from the rental agency seemed a little disgruntled that I had woken him up! Anyway I called the agency the next day when they were open and ended up walking there and picking up the pass. They gave me a bunch to leave in apartment so basically I did their work! It would of been nice to have a starter pack of coffee in apartment on arrival too. So the apartment was great but not impressed by the rental agency.

Condo was in a great location. It had great views and could watch the sunset every night. They had all the beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and snorkle gear avaible. All the items needed for cooking and staying here were there. Only 2 things that were kind of strange. The elevator does not go to any level where you dont have to take stairs. Very odd to have to lift luggage up or down eight stairs to get to the level you were on. Also the AC which was great, the outdoor condenser was on the lanai and it blows right at where you sit. So when its time to go on the lanai just turn off the 2 units and its not an issue. The condo didnt need them on for a hour or two while you sat out there and watched the view. FYI, binoculars were there to which i loved.

We stayed here for 7 nights, and loved every single moment of it. The highlight of the condo is the deck: On the second floor of the building it seemed to be only about 20 feet away from the rocks that the wave was crashing on: the view was beautiful, the sound of the crashing waves was relaxing, and the deck had two chaise lounges as well as a pub-height table and chair set that was high enough so as to provide views that were not obstructed by the deck's metal railing. Other things we loved: only a 5-minute walk to the southern edge of the main town; two powerful AC units (one in the living room and one in the bedroom) that did such a good job of keeping the place cool that most of the time we kept one unit turned off; walk-in shower had a fixed showerhead and a handheld one; living room TV had built-in Roku go five us access to all our streaming services (Prime, Hulu, MAX, etc.) while the bedroom TV had cable; kitchen had great supplies (including a rice maker, crockpot, blender, coffee maker, etc.); the bed was very comfortable and the place was very quiet (we are light sleepers, and we slept solidly every night); the covered parking structure (which meant our black Avis rental stayed cool) ; mgmt asked us if there was anything we needed and I mentioned that we could use a couple of coozies and dishrack for the items that we hand-washed each day (i.e. the blender)....and within 24 hours they sent over a 4-pack of coozies and drainboard; we also made use of the swimming pool and the chaise lounges on the grass area next to the crashing waves, and we took the included Tommy Bahama chairs and snorkeling gear to a couple of the beaches.

Overall, a comfortable stay. We read reviews and understood there were ants. But when we arrived at the condo to take stock of what we needed, there were ants all over the kitchen counter and bar area. Hadnt even brought in food yet. These are tiny suger ants. Use cutting board and plates to prepare and cut food. Eating at the bar was bothersome do to the ants. Otherwise a fun stay. Beautiful views from lanai. At sunset there was a man blowing the conch shell. Very little noise from neighbors, just crashing waves. The sliding door is difficult to unlock and close. Break a nail flipping the lock, and need to slam door into place cuz the frame is off. Place is older and they tried to upgrade where possible and make repairs. Bar stools wobble, bed creaks, closet not on track. Kitchen is equipped with most everything. We wanted to make a salad but needed a big bowl. Looks like there is one on the very top shelf, but even with the little step stool i couldnt reach it. There is a closet full of beach items to borrow. Chairs, boards, soft cooler, etc. If you're a gal and need to shave, the shower is not women friendly! No bench and the toilet seat is the flimsy type that you cant sit on. So it makes shaving challenging. Fans, a/c, lights, wifi, and tv worked great. A little confusing on how to operate with little to no instructions. Small stackable laundry unit in hallway came in handy after our hikes with dusty clothes.

Terrific location, just a 20 minute walk from the main shopping district in Kona, and only a bit longer to get to the Kailua pier. Kona Reef D26 has everything you need for your Kona vacation. But you may never leave your lanai - the perfect spot to relax and watch whales and dolphins not far from shore!

The photos of this condo are accurate. It is "on the beach" and the views are unmatched by most of the more expensive resort properties. With a western view, you have spectacular sunsets just about every evening. Every night, the sunset is celebrated with a Hawaiian conch blowing ceremony on the beach behind the condo. Mornings and evenings, you have surfers and boogie boarders riding the waves which at times during our stay were up to 12 feet high. We loved our stay and will definitely consider a return visit. The unit has been very tastefully remodeled and is comfortable for two people. Parking is free and we always found a spot on the upper level which is closest to the unit. The air in the living room was not working when we arrived but Knutson got it working again quickly and bought a new floor fan for us to use while repairs were being made. The unit is well stocked in the kitchen and everything worked fine. Kona Reef was built in the 1970's so the units are not large or lavish but we were very happy with our stay. Falling asleep to the sounds of the roaring surf is as good as it gets.

The location of this unit is outstanding. Just south of Kona village but only minutes on foot to restaurants, bars, ABC stores, and shopping. There are binoculars to use to get closer views. The location was nice for walking to shops and restaurants. It is one mile from the pier. This was our fifth time in Kona and forth time at Kona Reef. We were thrilled again with everything our condo had to offer. Location is perfect, the view is second to none and everything the complex has to offer was perfect. It was nice to have snorkeling equipment, chairs and coolers in our unit to use when we went to the beach as well as a washer and dryer to keep our clothing and towels fresh and clean. Pool and hot tub were a nice treat in the afternoon after the beach. Will definitely be looking for another available unit when we return in hopefully the near future!!!

This is our second time in this unit and will always be our go to for Kona. The location is superb with a very brief walk to town. Just a tip cut down the back road towards the Royal Kona to avoid walking down busy Ali Drive. The room is well furnished and spectacular views. We ran into a couple minor issues during our stay but reps Claire and Mervlyn were absolutely fantastic with very quick resolution. Thank you again for another memorable visit.

We were eager to stay at this rental property however as soon as we walked in we noticed a terrible urine odor coming from the furniture in the living room. The AC mini split in the front barley blew air and also wreaked of mildew. The one in the rear would only come on for 5min before breaking down. Worst of all when we opened the accordion closet door in the living room the entire thing fell on my child injuring them. The door’s hinges were broken and corroded without indication. The view was the only thing which was as we expected. The entire unit was dingy, broken, dark & smelly and we had to leave. We couldn’t stay in such a small space with such noxious odors and safety hazards. After a long day of travel we had to load back up and find another place to stay.

We called about that and the dirty bedspread shortly after arrival with no resolve. As we cleaned up the water we discovered the floor was dirty as well. Beautiful condo, gorgeous views, nice lanai w/ lounge chairs. Pretty much all beach and snorkel equipment supplied. Nice walking distance to shops. Snorkeling on the beach just to the left (South) of the condo was just as good or better than the popular snorkeling spots.Two downsides: 1.although not on the street, the bedroom is streetside so we heard some noise.2. No recycling can supplied3. I had to remove trash on the last day, and it wasn't easy to find. Wandered all over the property even when trying to follow signs. Ended up DRIVING down and to the far end to put it away. For the fees we pay, we shouldn't have to take out the trash.Other than this, it was a perfect stay.

This is a great ocean front property with the best lanai around! Recline in the lounge chairs, watch and listen to the surf rolling in. Grill fresh tuna and swim in the pool or relax in the hot tub in the public areas. Be sure to check out your amazing outdoor adventure supply closet stuffed with beach chairs, towels, umbrella, ice chest, boogie boards, snorkel masks and fins, and binoculars. We want to come back here again!

This place is GORGEOUS. So close to downtown but you won't want to leave your balcony until after sunset. The place had a comfortable bed and everything you may need for a beach or even snorkel day. Loved this place and didn't want to leave!

Our experience was fantastic! All the check in info was thorough. The view was just breathtaking and you’ll never get tired of it. We enjoyed all the amenities the place came with. Totally appreciate that there was a closet full of beach things we could borrow during our stay. We were very pleased with our accommodations! Thank you!
