Why We Love This Home

Perks Galore: Kiahuna 106 comes with a vacation membership to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club.

A Rare Retreat: Very few properties have such a rich history that dates back to Hawaii’s sugar plantation days and front an award-winning beach in Kauai.

Lots To Do: With a beach activity center, picnic areas, grills, live Tahitian dance shows, botanical gardens, and Kauai’s most popular beach all just a short walk from your rental, it’s no wonder Kiahuna Plantation was named one of the top five hotels in 2014 by Conde Nast.

Stroll through the famous Moir Gardens, home to rare orchids and cacti, or grab a towel and some sunscreen and make the short walk down to award-winning Poipu Beach for paddle boarding, swimming, and sunbathing. Depending on the season, you may even spot some breaching whales!

Your reservation includes free membership to the exclusive (members only) Poipu Beach Athletic Club. The Club is a short walk across the street. Club membership provides you with access to one of the island's only fitness centers with a cardio room and weight pavilion; use of the resort pool, waterslide, hot tub, and sand-bottomed kiddie section; tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts; shuffleboard; yoga and water aerobics classes; and more!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The grounds are stunning, and eating out on the lanai was one of our favorite things to do. The proximity to Poipu Beach and to great hiking in Waimea Canyon was great. Our family had a great time here!

This was a great place to stay during our four-day visit in Kauai. The view from the lanai was fantastic. The apartment had everything we needed, and then some. We took advantage of the gym, the restaurant connected to the gym/pool, the laundry facility, the beach, and the beach hut with snorkel gear and towels. On the last day, we even found a closet full of additional gear that we might've used too but we didn't know it was there! The one and only issue, which turned out not to be much of an issue, was that there were a bunch of little bugs in the bathroom on our first night. I think it was just because the place had been empty for a few days before we got there, because the bugs weren't an issue the next nights. It was just jarring at first because it was part of our first impression. But the bugs went away for the most part, and they didn't "bug" us at all. They're just very attracted to water. Great place to stay. Would highly recommend!

Everything as advertised; if one needed something it was there, if not it was like you owned the place. Comfortable, everything worked, very well appointed. The beach-view is as advertised; at night one can see night-glow of a city far to the east I'd guess on Oahu. Almost a summer-camp feel going down to beach at night. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed this place. View is spectacular - the photos don’t do it justice. Comfortable king bed. Closet doors off tracks. Bathroom could use update - dark, tub badly stained. Carpeting in living room needs cleaning or replacement. Kitchen equipped well. Plenty of gear for beach. Pool at the athletic club is nice, but an inordinate amount of children made it difficult to fully enjoy. The complex is gorgeous - lawns and landscaping very lush.

The property is just perfect. They have 2 beach chairs, sand toys and 2 boogie boards for the kids to use. Kitchen is a little small but nothing will can’t handle. I think the only semi down side is there is no AC but majority of the time we didn’t get back to our place until the evening so the cool wind helped with that problem.

Great location, great condo! Check in only received 4 stars because the eKEY didn’t work and that delayed the arrival with calls to the help desk and manager. Otherwise, it was fabulous! Thank you!

Loved the condo and Kiahuna Plantation. Nice to be in a quiet resort after the madhouse of Waikiki. The view from the deck was great to wake up to and enjoy until well after sunset. The access to the beach and nearby Poipu and Brennecke couldn’t have been easier. The hosts were very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I spent a lovely week here exploring the south side of the island. (We usually stay on the north shore.) The property is right next-door to the spectacular Poipu Beach, and Kiahuna Beach right in front is a great place to watch people learn to surf. This unit is set back on the property, but it has a nice view of the ocean in between two adjacent buildings. Like every other beach condo on the island, the property is showing its age a bit, but who cares: you're here for the incredible things to see and do in the area. Having access to the athletic club across the street was super convenient for a quick workout or a soak in the hot tub. Some of our highlights included exploring Waimea canyon and hiking the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail just to the east along the coast, and I definitely also suggest having a dinner at RumFire just next door to the west. We love Kauai!

The place was very clean with a lot of extras to take to the beach which we really appreciate it. Could have done with a little bit of maintenance lubrication on the doors but overall it was a great stay

We loved staying at Koloa Kai. The property the unit is part of is wonderful - right on the beach, and close to many amenities (breakfast at Little Fish across the road is a must!). We felt right at home with our porch overlooking the ocean, beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. The unit is a little dated - the furniture, curtains, bed, and bathroom could all use some updating - but overall a great experience.

We have stayed at Kiahuna Plantation for years… first time with Air B and B. Go through outrigger. This unit had lovely furnishings but was very poorly maintained and cleaned. The check in process was poor. Once addressed the people tried to make it better but quite frankly we were a bit soured. For the money we have found better success with other companies.

This place was so well located! We loved the Poipu athletic club across the street as it had a baby pool for our infant. The staff here was in constant communication with us and made our stay memorable. There’s no a/c at this property but that wasn’t an issue for us as plenty of fans were provided and there was cool ocean air that kept the condo cool at nighttime.

I have rented at Kiahuna Plantation before and have always enjoyed my stays! This particular condo was just okay. The view and location on the Plantation were wonderful! The condo itself could use a little updating. Also, we don’t watch tv too often, which is good, since the tv was way too small. Very hard to see from the couch. Overall, we had a wonderful 10 days. The rental agency was quick to respond to any problems. It would be nice if there was another way to obtain and drop off the key.

We stayed for a week and had an absolutely wonderful time. Close walk to a great beach, close walk or short drive to lots of good shops and food! Nearby pool at the athletics club was fun to hang around and have a bite/drink, definitely great for kids. Condo itself matched pictures and met expectations!

We stayed 3 nights in Kiahuna Plantation KP 106 en we enjoyed every second. The unit is at the edge of the resort, which we like, parking conveniently close by, and the beach on a short walk through the beautiful resort. The unit has everything we needed and in good condition. For our next visit to Kauai we will definitely come back here. No doubt.

We have stayed at Kiahuna Plantation 9 times in 9 different units. This unit had a great view & location, but also had the most issues. We had problems getting more than 1 room key: it took almost 2 days to work that out. Very confusing, lots of different people involved, and I ended up being stuck waiting around at the unit for people supposedly arriving to drop off keys or fix lock. Several keys didn't work, I was asked to throw away keys that didn't work, then NO don't throw away keys, security guy came to clean & test lock and keys (took 2 visits), had a guy show up with another key from rental company and security guy was wondering who he was and where he got another key from (I didn't know). After it was all fixed I still couldn't tell you how many different keys we ended up trying... at least 7 or 8 keys and at least 6 people involved I believe. The room was typical of most of the other rooms, but the carpet was older and had obvious stains. 1 of the 2 sliding doors for the bedroom was jammed inside its wall opening and wouldn't come out, so only had 1 door to get privacy. The right side sliding screen door to the deck was very sticky and felt like it was going to break, so we just used the left side screen door. The bathtub old & stained and the shower mechanism produced a VERY loud humming/vibration in the medium setting, so had to play with that every time. The ceiling fan in the bedroom got into bad rhythms and would sound like a loud train clicking down the tracks, so it wasn't very useable. There were 2 other fans in that room so we got by. The main TV was so small too - maybe 24"? It was located at the top of the wall in a corner on opposite side of room from the sofa and chairs. We didn't go to Poipu to watch TV, but we did have plans to watch some Netflix or Prime shows a few times. It was virtually impossible to see the little TV so far away so we slid the sofa bed and chairs to the middle of the room each time (the sofa bed is quite heavy FYI). I actually had my binoculars out to watch TV at one point! But the most frustrating thing was the small fridge. Our trip to Cotsco had to be cut back on supplies because the fridge was so small - very frustrating for the whole 2 weeks. We had to shop more frequently and buy smaller sizes, but it cost more to do that and we weren't happy about all that. I know that's a lot of complaining, but bottom line is it could use some repairs and a couple upgrades: fridge/TV.

Our first time on Kauai we were not sure where to stay. We were so happy with our choice. The location was close to the beach club across the way ( not far at all). The amenities are great, met a lot of locals which were so nice. The beach was a 3 minutes walk, and we enjoyed the waves and the snorkel area. The kids loved the beach and riding the waves, boogie boarding and watching the surfers. We even swam with a turtle We will stay here again when we visit Kauai.

We stayed several nights here July 2022. Nice location close to beaches and shops of Poipu. Slight hiccup with check in as the key kiosk not working. Management was very responsive and even brought key to unit. Unit would be tight for 4 adults but great for couples or couple with kids.

The pictures of the view are no where near as amazing as the actual view itself! The property is spacious enough for 4 people and the beds are comfortable! It is warm during the day with no a/c but cools off enough at night to sleep well. The condo had beach chairs, coolers, an umbrella, and some beach toys for the kids. Everything you needed was available in the kitchen. The grills on the property are maintained SO WELL! They looked brand new and were cleaned every morning! The convenience of getting the free towels at the beach hut was a huge plus because you could just exchange them for fresh towels after your swim. The snorkeling in Poipu was AWESOME! We swam with sea turtles and tons of tropical fish! Here are some of my local recommendations: 1: Keoki's Paradise had amazing food and beautiful ambience 2: Puka dog was delicious 3. KOLOA FISH MARKET! Get there at 10am (the maui onion, spicy, and shoyu poke was our favorite) 4. The Tubing tour was awesome through Kauai Back Country Adeventure 5. Captain Andy's dinner cruise (we did the snorkel cruise but wish we would've done the sunset cruise because the snorkeling in Poipu was MUCH better) 6. Spouting Horn is a 10 minute drive for a quick trip 7. Ho'opi'i falls is a nice hike and easy enough for kids, wearing hiking shoes! 8. Visit the wal mart for souvenirs and groceries (they're the cheapest) 9. Koloa pizza was delicious 10. Rent a car through Poipu Rental Car, also very reasonably priced 11. Rum Fire is yummy, walking distance, and a romantic spot for dinner, make sure you reserve 30 days in advance and wait for a table by the windows so you can watch the sunset I can't wait to return with my family so they can experience the beauty this property and island has to offer!

Had a great time at the condo. Nice view of the beach from the ball Indy. Good fan system inside the unit. Walking distance to Poipu beach. The beach in front of the complex is nice with chairs and they give surfing lessons all day. Decent snorkeling and some turtles. Would stay again.
