Hanalei Bay Resort Studio 5 minutes to the beach! Reviews

Because our family group was nine people, I rented the small unit in the same building as the rest of my family. It was very comfortable for the short time that I was there. The resort was wonderful with a path to the beach, wonderful pizza for takeout, relatively close to town, etc. The area has wonderful hiking trails, fun snorkeling, and farmers markets.

We had never been to Kauai before and just had to roll the dice and get some recommendations from friends and relatives. We elected to stay 3 days down south and the other 3 days at the Hanalei Resort. We luckily selected a lovely condo with gorgeous mountain views! We had everything we needed to make our 3 days on the north shore spectacular - and they were. I’m glad we split our time and got a little bit of both worlds. This is definitely resort life/living with tennis courts, waterfall-laden pools, immaculate grounds, lovely private beach access and lovely buildings and units. It’s a little slice of heaven!

The location of this vrbo is amazing, such beautiful surroundings which may make it worth it. That being said, the price is a bit steep once you take into account additional check in, daily resort/ parking fees. The room/ facilities are somewhat dated but overall an easy/pleasant stay.

Great location and very well kept unit. Comfortable king size bed!. Everything you need for a day at the beach was available and great amenities available as part of the property. We would definitely go back!

The condo is on the older side but clean and well equipped. Loved that we could walk down to the beach. Grounds at HBR are immaculately kept. Liked that we could self cater with the BBQ and oven in communal kitchen area. The space was big enough for our family of four. Would stay again

First, views of mountains great, pool area great, owner very responsive, laundry machines close and reasonably priced and resort staff friendly. Did not like the soft bed (had to sleep on the floor), hassle to get to the beach and steep walk, cleanliness of condo lacking, parking not close and crowded during restaurant hours, long drive from any reasonably-priced shopping and airport and resort charges high for what they did for us. Overall it was a disappointment for us because of the stated above and having to cart around because of the distanes from parking and hilly area, but the view was great.

The resort is beautiful, staff is friendly and the unit is steps away from the best place to watch the gorgeous Kaua'i sunsets every night. Room is basic, but does the trick if you're out and about most of the day exploring the island. Dining options are limited at the resort, so plan accordingly. Must love birds!

We rented this property as a stopgap for a camping trip. The property is absolutely stunning. Views of Hanalei bay and beyond. Amazing walk down to the beach. I give it 10 out of 10. The bed was extremely comfortable. The view from the room, it was outstanding. I don’t think you could do better if you tried. BOOM!

Stay was good for location of HBR. My room was dirty and musty smelling- very outdated and a lot of unfinished surfaces. I stayed for 11 nights and had no access to have room cleaned- I needed at a minimum a vacuum to do it myself. The room made it feel like I was staying in a rustic cabin and not a resort in Princeville

Beatiful property and everything is as described. We had everything we needed for the beach, and lots of cookware if you want to walk down to the outside kitchen area. Very comfortable space and bed too! Host was very accommodating as well, thank you!

Overall a nice place, wish there would have been a microwave in room to reheat food. But very relaxing trip with a beautiful beach.

Owner represented as a 1 br condo. It was a studio apt with no kitchen. Owner had a problem recently from another guest so changed the listing and did not inform me so I could cancel and rebook what I needed. Owner made no attempt to make it right.

The property is nice, the pool is amazing, the location is great. Really close to lots of fun things, the beach at the resort is great. My only real complain was the restaurant at the resort has some really rude workers. I'd suggest taking the drive into town to eat. It's cheaper too. Otherwise, pretty good resort with a great location.

What a great property and unit. We have stayed on many properties in Princeville and HBR is now our favorite! It's so nice to have 2 beaches to walk to. There's one down the hill from the resort and if you walk up the stairs next to 1 Hotel being built, you can get to hideaway beach. We ended up using almost all of the amenities, and loved hanging out at happy talk bar for drinks. The perfect spot for catching sunsets is steps from the unit as well.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and it had everything we needed. Although there isn’t a full kitchen, there is everything needed to cook at the bbq area. The room was the perfect size and the location is great! The report amenities were a great addition to the stay. Anthony also responded very fast whenever needed!

We must admit, after reading reviews, we were a little hesitant on the property. We couldn't have wanted anything more!! This condo was well equipped for all of our needs, from the snorkel gear, right through to the coffee machine and ice bucket. bed was comfortable, towels were plentiful, and the services was 2nd to none. I was there to relax, and my husband was there to surf. We ate out most nights, and only cooked in a couple. The room was close to the laundry and ice machine, and I loved that if we wanted, we could call for concierge to pick us up from the beach and take us back to our room. The sunsets were amazing (by the fire, literally a 60 second walk from our room), and definitely my favourite time of the day. I cannot wait to come back here. Truly beautiful.

We stayed here 7 nights in early October and could not have chosen a better accommodation. The setting for the resort is stunning, with beautiful mountain and ocean views. The unit was clean, comfortable and just the right size for two of us. Very convenient to both pools and the beach path. The walk to the beach is a little steep, but not a problem (and if it is, they offer you a ride in a golf cart). HBR shares this private beach with the St. Regis next door. If you've seen "The Descendants," this is the beach from that movie. We heard that celebrity sightings on the beach are frequent, though we didn't see anyone we recognized. We couldn't get over the fact that some of the St. Regis guests were paying 10 times more per night for the same beach and the same view we got with HBR. Minor negatives: The private lanai doesn't seem all that private if anyone's on an adjacent unit's lanai. You can't see others but you hear conversations all too clearly. Ditto if you're inside the unit with the screen door open (always for us -- never used the A/C) The golf carts and leaf blowers got loud at times, too. No restaurant on property, although they're working on that. It's supposed to be open sometime this year. Overall, this was a wonderful place to stay and we can recommend it highly. Very easy to book through VRBO, too.

We had a great time here! You don't have a view of the ocean, but you can see the mountains. The A/C covered the sound of the golf carts. We swam under the stars in the pool every night. The kitchenette was well equipped with little fridge and coffee pot, we were able to make our meals there. We had gone to costco, but actually foodland was very affordable! We were surprised! There was a mix of families with kids and couples on romantic getaways. The only thing missing was the restaurant not being open which I read has been under construction forever. You can walk down to the beach, this condo is clean and updated enough for me, I don't know what other people were complaining about in the regard. This is a great price and location to get to everything you might want to do in Kauai. There are chickens everywhere so that takes some getting used to, they are all over the island. We very much appreciated having great AC, as it was quite hot and muggy.

What a great place to stay. We absolutely adored coming home every night to this adorable studio. It was spacious, the bed was cozy and it had such a nice feel. The hot plate was HOT! And we ate like kings and queens. We bbq'd at the community bbq and kitchen below the condo, and we watched dvd's at night. The air conditioner was SOOOOO great, it pumped out COLD air, and really helped with the heat. This is the best deal for the money, and we will rent this unit again and again in the coming years. The owners were so easy to deal with. The free Mai Tai Mondays were awesome, we drank like fishes. The view from the balcony was great, waterfalls galore, I can't say enough about this great little place. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did. Aloha! P.S. It looks like the owner did some updates in décor. It really looked great.

My fiancee and I recently stayed at the HBR in this unit and could not be happier with our decision. For two people and for the price, I don't see how anyone could even THINK about giving this rental less than 5 stars. As far as some of the other reviewers saying that it is outdated, we didn't see that as an issue at all. We felt that the unit was exactly as advertised. Our expectations were: clean accommodations, air conditioning, relaxing environment, comfortable bed, small kitchen (enough for snacks, breakfast/lunch and drinks), a lanai and accommodating resort staff. This unit delivered on all fronts. The Lanai is spacious, the dresser had ample room for the two of us for a week's worth of clothing, the king bed was comfy (we have a Tempurpedic at home, so expectations are high), there is a large bathroom with a good shower (decent water-pressure) and plenty of towels for two people. Kitchen is stocked with only the basics, but we never came across a situation where there wasn't the right tool when we needed it. The HBR also provides beach towels which you can swap out for clean as often as you like during your stay. The location of the unit is convenient to bbq's (we did not use), ice machine (clutch) and the laundry. The only thing I could find to nitpick is that there is no space to hang clothing. There was an iron so I made it work for clothing that I'd normally hang. Some other reasons to choose HBR 1) The beach. After visiting several North Shore beaches (Haena, Ke'e, Tunnels, and Hanalei among others) we felt the HBR beach was by far the best. No driving, ample shade if wanted, uncrowded, you can use the St. Regis pool bar and the snorkeling was great - we even had sea turtles right off shore. The unit had two beach chairs which worked out great, saving us a rental fee. 2) The pool/hot tub. Awesome. HBR has a big pool and a small pool with ample room for everyone. Not one day were all the chairs taken. The hot tub has a sand bottom, which we had never seen before, and was pretty cool. There are waterfalls flowing into the hot tub and the pool and the gardens surrounding it are beautiful. 3) Location. It's great - close driving distance to the shops in Princeville for groceries, some restaurants, golf, Queen's Bath, Hideaway's beach and close drive to Hanalei and the far north beaches. 4) Resort Staff. They were great! Enjoy your stay and use all that extra money you didn't spend on your hotel on a great dinner!

We recently stayed at this condo for our honeymoon and thought it was perfect. As previous people have mentioned, the room may be a little outdated, however, given that we were rarely in the room except for sleeping, it was perfect. The bed was comfortable quite comfortable and we slept so well for our week. In addition, the unit has all the basic necessities you could need for 2 people: a small fridge, coffee maker, toaster oven and microwave. This made having breakfast and snacks easy! In addition, they provided basic necessities for us that came in handy such as a cooler and boogie board. Overall, we quite enjoyed our stay and felt that you could not beat the price. The owners were responsive and the whole process was so easy. We would highly recommend this unit for 2 people and will definitely be back.

i fully conquer with Ralph P. assessment. This unit needs another refurbishment. The major positives is the bed was comfortable and AC cold. We called management to program the T.V to get CBS, NBC, ABC. Also, had them cut a few of these Palms down to get a view. If I had read Ralph's review before booking, I would have stayed away from this studio. Possible improvements would be for a new carpet and a sound proof door between the units. My wife almost killed me for booking this studio. Maybe good for a short stay, anything longer than five days, VRBO renter beware. My wife say's "I am very kind."

Nicely decorated and the kitchenette was well outfitted. The coffee pot is bigger than in the photos, and there is a toaster oven. We loved the location on the property — a short walk to both swimming pools and right next to an outdoor fireplace where sunset viewing is amazing. Also, not next to the parking lot, which we liked.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at this condo. Our first impression was how roomy the studio felt, and how nicely decorated it was. Previously my husband and I have stayed in two other studios at Hanalei Bay Resort, but this condo’s décor and kitchenette were the best of the three. It is so much easier to prepare meals with a hot plate and toaster oven, than just using a microwave. We were able to comfortably cook breakfast each morning, and we also used the BBQ cabana to cook our dinners. The view of the mountains from the lanai was beautiful and it’s always fun to share breakfast with all of the colorful birds. The lanai is set back from the other side of the condo, so it has a nice private feeling. As someone who is spoiled with a Tempurpedic mattress at home, the king bed in this condo is very comfortable and I slept as well as I do at home. My daughter and I shared the bed, so I don’t know how comfy the pull-out bed is, but I loved being able to sit on the love-seat and watch TV in the evening, instead of having to sit on the bed. The resort itself is really great. We love the pool with the waterfalls, and the sandy bottomed hot tub. As we have experienced each time we have visited Hanalei Bay Resort, all the people we interacted with were extremely nice, and went out of their way to make every part of our stay a great vacation. We can’t wait to return!

First, I want to thank the owners for making this room available for rent. I do not mean to upset anyone and I hope that you take this review as constructive. Let me list the Pros first: - Nice complex. Hanalei Bay Resort is really nice and some rooms must have amazing views of the bay. - Golf cart service to and from your room if requested. - The tennis courts look fantastic, but we don't play. - The pools also look nice. - BBQs were ready to use and worked excellently. Cons: - The resort has very few amenities. - The room is located on the end of the building on the second floor of three stories. This end of the building is the closest to the walking and carting path. Carts whiz by every few minutes for hours on end when people are coming and going. It is noisy and not at all relaxing. - Being on the second floor means that you share paper thin walls, ceilings, and floors with noisy neighbors. If you are not used to apartment living, then stay elsewhere. No exaggeration, I know what the guy next door ate for breakfast each morning because he talked about it and you could hear each bite. - The complex is built on hills. If you are elderly or have trouble climbing hills, stay elsewhere. - The carts are nice, but after waiting for over 15 minutes both times that we called. We decided that we would just carry our own stuff to the car. It is only a 10 minute walk. - The view is almost nonexistent. The trees have grown around the lanai and leave you very little to look at. - Although the ad says that this was renovated in 2010, it really needs another makeover. This time maybe hire a contractor that has some skill. Areas with wall patches and mismatched paint, half ceiling painted with different paint finishes, green paint overspray on the door jam, etc. all take away from how nice the unit could be. - The larger kitchenette was nice, but it takes the place of the closet. This means that storage is nonexistent. Your bags must sit out, no hanging of clothes except for a couple of hook near the bath, and really just no storage to speak of. The large dresser has two drawers filled with irons/ironing board and bed clothes. This means that you have just three drawers to use as storage in the entire unit. You don't even have room for any dry food that you buy. It has to stack on the counter somewhere. Our hope is that the owners will take some of these points to make some simple improvements. Maybe it will be a nice unit again some day.

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
