No frills but provided what we needed. Good location, good price. Kitchenette was very minimal - could have used a few more amenities there but overall a very nice place to stay for a couple nights. We enjoyed the nightly frog serenade! :)

We just loved this cozy getaway in Pahoa. The lanai is spacious and clean and we were able to relax with a view of the greenery of the property next door. This is a private space to enjoy while visiting the big island. Melanie, the host was welcoming and a delight! She has multiple recommendations for all to enjoy while visiting the island. A great place for the price!

My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our host was absolutely fabulous! She made sure everything was to our liking and that we had all we needed to be comfortable. Felt like we were at a home away from home :) We particularly enjoyed all the noises and feel of the “jungle” without being out in the elements! We would definitely recommend and come back…a very simple and comfortable stay. Mahalo again, Melanie!!

Quiet property, off the beaten path. Relatively convenient to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Hilo, as well as the towns of Kea'au and Pahoa. Host very friendly and easy to communicate with.

Melanie and Steve were such wonderful hosts at this spacious property in Pahoa! Melanie was incredible communicative and responsive, and Steve dropped by periodically to ensure we were doing okay or whether we needed anything. The space itself is very large - it could easily accommodate parents and two kids. It is a quaint, Hawaiian themed place that you can tell has been decorated with great care and shone with personality! It is about a half hour drive to Hilo and an hour to Volcanoes National Park, both of which we explored when we were there!

This spot was great for our week-long stay in Hawaii. We were out and about on excursions and touring the island most of the day, so this spot was perfect for the intention of being in and out of the property. We had privacy even though the owner’s quarters were separated by a wall. We loved the sounds of nature at night that lulled us to sleep like a lullaby (crickets, frogs, etc.) and we awoke to birds chirping in the morning! The only concern we had was the bathroom. The shower curtain liner had build up mold and the floor was not swept. But overall, our stay at Breezy Lanai was a great one. Thank you!

beautiful country side property with flora fauna around. We loved everything about the property, the location, birds chirping all through the night etc. The host Melanie and Steve are awesome people, communication is excellent. They are very accommodative and nice people. We would definitely recommend and come back here. Can't ask anything more for what we paid.

Ample space, quiet location (except for the coqui frogs which are almost everywhere on Big Island). But the roof leaked near the entrance and the bathroom needs major upgrades.

This was a unique experience! The tropical setting along with the clean property made for enjoyable stay. The place is decorated so nicely, and the proprietor included unexpected, thoughtful touches. If you stay with the understanding of what a home in the jungle might entail, you will have an amazing time.

Met the property managers and they were so nice. We had one small issue and they took care of it immediately. Would not hesitate to stay again.

We only stayed overnight but the property was east to find using the directions given, the property was clean and comfortable, and very quiet. There was a nice screened-in patio but we didn’t get a chance to enjoy it. Even had an acoustic guitar if you want to play a tune or two. Would be a good base camp to explore the Volcanoes NP and the east coast of the Big Island.

Great experience. We had a blast. Plus, when Melanie realized we had our son here on Halloween she stopped by with a costume and recommendations on community events that just made his whole day. We were just blown away by how great everyone was and can't wait to return.

A little off the beaten path, this place was the perfect way to end a family vacation. Melanie has managed to create a cozy escape. The only thing that would have been nice is something like a toaster oven or air fryer to add to the makeshift kitchenette area, but we made do.

Somewhat remote location, but comfortable and adequate for our one night stay while driving around the island to explore. Communication with host was clear and timely.

We didn’t know exactly what to expect with staying on the Hilo side of the Big Island, but this place turned out to be amazing. The big screened lanai (in this case a large patio area, not a deck) felt truly unique and beautiful, and it made for a great place to sit and listen to the frogs at night. A lot of people have commented that they don’t like the frogs but they were awesome for us - very peaceful. They added a lot to the “flavor” of the home. We’re very glad we booked this property and it gave us a great taste of the other side of the Big Island. Highly recommended!

We loved everything about the house. The host was very responsive and helpful. Coqui frogs can get pretty loud at night so get some ear plugs!

I absolutely loved going to sleep at night listening to the wildlife. This place is away from the noisy hotel areas and made for a very relaxing holiday. Melanie is just a great host (makes the best banana bread I have ever tasted) and even came to see that we were okay. Will definitely book this place when we return to Hilo

Low key and relaxed place to stay and rest from hectic Island Adventures. Night time provides the best natural sleep sounds from Nature itself. Best place to be if you really want to get away away 🙂

The sound of nature in the area is AMAZING! Although the property isn't close to much, its the perfect escape for some R&R. Nice quiet area away from all the hustle and bustle. The rental is just as it looks in the pictures. Very clean. Nice lanai for relaxing and a spacious bedroom. At night, the room is cool enough to sleep well in with the fans on. The bathroom is small and the water runs very scarcely in the shower; but its good enough for what you need it for. Definitely recommend booking if you want to getaway and enjoy the sounds of nature. Make sure you check out the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Rainbow Falls.

This property is lovely and secluded, deep within Nanawale Estates in Puna District. It's a short drive into town for food and necessities. The host is helpful and nearby. The coqui frogs sing all night in a hypnotizing chorus. Coconuts fall from trees onto the road. There were a couple of cautious cats nearby. The beds were comfortable and the TV worked with many streaming platforms. The bathroom had hot water and a flush toilet which were fantastic. The place has a very relaxed atmosphere in the lush forests of East Hawai'i. There are a ukulele and acoustic guitar onsite, which I was happy to jam on a few times. I would totally return.

Loved, loved, loved our stay! Gave me the feeling of staying at your coolest relative's place.... Instantly felt like home. Everything was so nice and tidy when we arrived, and Melanie had thought of everything--from guidebooks and annotated food/sightseeing maps, to bug spray, to Legos (which came in handy to keep the kids entertained while we got ready in the morning). So thoughtful! And couldn't have been easier to check in and out. We were only looking for a place to sleep for the night, but after getting there, I really wish we'd planned to stay longer so we could enjoy it even more. So grateful to have found this place for our first visit to the big island. Thank you for hosting us!

A great base camp to visit the east side of hawaii island. Clean and comfortable accommodations. Melanie our host was very easy to work with and quickly responded to any questions we had. Screened in lanai area really let's you experience the outdoors in the comfort of a house setting. Bedroom is good for a couple, small family, or close friends. You get dedicated covered parking right in front of home. It has a kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave, and coffee station. Definitely recommended.

This is really nice cottage in a really nice area. We loved listening to the rain and the frogs crocking at night. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The host helped us with all our questions. There was covered parking for our car and lots of interesting things to do just a short drive away. We really enjoyed our stay!

The host Melanie was extremely informative with directions. It’s definitely in a quiet, off the road area. Which we loved! Our flight was delayed by an 1.5 hours so we checked in LATE & Melanie was very understanding. My MIL also ended up joining which wasn’t the plan but we were too tired to drive to Hilo and back. Melanie was accommodating and understood. The house and room itself was peaceful, the rain was relaxing when it hit and all the coockey frogs put us all to sleep. My only dislike is that I didn’t get to stay longer. It was very relaxing and when we come back & need a place, I will make sure to book ahead. I highly recommend this place. Thank You Melanie!!
