We absolutely loved the house, hot tub and koi pond during our family stay. The house is lovely inside and the decorations are well thought out with reference books that explain Hawaii’s fauna and flora. Highly recommend staying here and while relaxing learn more about Hawaii’s birds, plants and much more. Hawaii does have a problem with feral pigs and during our stay we witnessed how destructive a pig could be. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful home in private setting. Great outdoor amenities with the sauna, hot tub, koi pond, and outdoor shower! Outdoor deck space would be lovely during a warmer time of year. Bedrooms were comfortable and feeling as if you out in nature with the vast windows. Kitchen was functional but limited utensils making it necessary to run the dishwasher after every meal. The Green Egg grill was nice, but took some effort to use as it is not a common grilling device for most people. Heads up, bring your own charcoal. We had a fabulous visit being so close to Volcano National Park.

This is a great property and it is all that the listing shows. Off the beaten path adjacent to rain forest. Property has trails through the rain forest. Very well equipped. Enjoyed feeding the Koi as well as the Hot Tub, even in the rain!

We loved this place - could have spent a few days just on property! My kids loved it - especially my oldest. All the kids asked when we could come back. Location is very close to Volcano National Park and is as advertised. Can't say enough good things - we will definitely come back! Thanks for an amzing adventure!

Enchanted and mystical home at the end of a lane. The house was well appointed with everything one would need for a stay near Volcanoes National Park. The setting of the house was park like right in the middle of a beautiful rainforest. I loved sitting on deck in the morning while I drank my coffee. Upstairs was very comfortable area for reading and listening to music. Loved the beautiful furniture in every room. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

When we booked our stay our selection was primarily due to the close location to the National Park. When we arrived we were blown away by the house and the property. Such a peaceful, quiet way to experience Hawaii. The house and it’s amenities were special too. As avid bird watchers we appreciated the art and books the owner has through out the house. The property manager was prompt and responsive to an issue we had. We hope to return for another stay soon.

Without doubt the most beautiful and secluded spot I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Every aspect of the property is well thought out and well maintained. Walking the grounds is a must and the hot tub, sauna, koi pond and fire pit are amazing. The house itself is lovely and has everything one could need. Highly recommended to anyone who is willing to be off the beaten track and enjoy a peaceful time. Easy access to the national park is an added benefit, although you may just want to stay at the house once you get there!

I've stayed at many VRBO properties & found this one to be particularly welcoming & relaxing. The grounds are stunning. It's quiet. The beds are SUPER comfortable. I felt at home from the minute I entered. It's clear that the owner & property managers have gone out of their way to provide everything that we needed. There are directions for everything in a folder left on the counter. No need to guess on hours or directions for food options - everything is there. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Pictures do not do this property justice! We feel so blessed to have been able to stay here:). Morning runs along a beautiful road followed by sauna time was so relaxing. Hot tub under the stars at night and outdoor fire in the fire pit. I have never stayed at a place that I didn’t want to leave to go explore the area. If you want to relax in a beautiful setting I don’t think you will find a more magical place. My 3 kids, ages 12, 15 and 16 loved it here! So many amazing things about this property I can’t list them all!

Everything about this home is amazing! We would go back to the Big Island just to stay at this property again. Stock up on groceries in Hilo or Kona and you will have everything you need for the perfect getaway. We enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We received Brenda’s informational email after we had checked in. The VRBO listing does not disclose that the water is from a rain catchment system. Drinking water is provided via a RO spigot at the kitchen sink, but this did not work. The water pressure became extremely low after our first three days. We would advise you to take short showers as well as consolidate your wash and use the quick cycle. There are no window coverings except for the street side of the house. It was quite bright for sleeping with the full moon and at dawn. In the master bedroom, there are saloon doors blocking the toilet. There was no shower curtain, despite one being shown. They have built-in gas heaters, but no directions on how to use these. Instead, we used electric plug-in heaters; they said one per level would be sufficient. In reality, they need to provide at least two more because it is a BIG house with high ceilings. The gourmet kitchen was missing a vegetable peeler, foil, garlic powder, olive oil, and dish soap. The forest, spa, sauna, koi pond, and decks were the best features of this property. However, the spa water was cloudy and needed treatment. The day we left we discovered mold growing on the mattress in the master bedroom and in the full upstairs bathroom near the shower. To end on a positive note, this property is very close to the national park and several cute art shops. We appreciate that the owner used his wealth to preserve 30 acres of old-growth rain forest.

My family and I stayed here for three nights since we wanted to spend a couple days in Volcanoes National Park. The house provided a really beautiful, quiet escape. You really do feel like you are deep in the rainforest. We didn't use the hot tub since it rained most of the time we were there, but it looked to be in good working order. The house was well-equipped with towels, linens, toilet paper, paper towel, laundry detergent, and dishwasher detergent. Be sure to stock up on groceries, condiments, and bottled water in Hilo before you arrive. The property manager was very prompt in responding to any questions that we had. The house is several miles from the main road; you drive down a one-lane paved road for a couple miles (we even had feral pigs and cows crossing the road one night when we were driving back to the house). The location was fine with me, but my daughter was a little weirded out by how remote it was and the fact that there are no window coverings on virtually all of the windows. Overall, we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay here. It is a beautiful house with beautiful artwork and furniture and we definitely would consider staying here again if we return to the Volcano area. It was a great way to experience the rainforest and to relax and recharge.

We only stayed two nights but really enjoyed the house. Nice bedrooms, three bathrooms and plenty of room to relax! Lots of outdoor seating and amenities, hot tub, sauna, koi pond and walking paths. Very quiet and safe. Also very easy to find. This home was a good value and we would certainly stay there again!

Soooo lovely. Getting to this home is around 3 miles down a one lane road. It's about a 15 minute drive to Volcano Park. There are neighbors that cannot be seen from the back of the house. That's a good thing since there are no window coverings on the upstairs bedrooms including the master bathroom shower. This was fine for my husband & I but if we were traveling with friends it would have been awkward since the two bedrooms share a patio with huge windows all the way around. The two other bathrooms are private. The home has really nice little touches like a bench and table at the entry for unloading and preparing for the day's adventure. Stock up on what you need as far as groceries etc since there's only one small general store in the area. We went to Hilo twice, about an hour away. The property is really beautiful. We loved staying at this home!!!

We had a wonderful time at this home! The reviews that state that it is even better than the photos are right. The inside of the house is very clean, comfortable and well-appointed. The property surrounding the house was incredible. My kids (ages 7 and 11) enjoyed exploring and sitting in the hot tub under the stars was one of the highlights of our trip. The home's location was great for visiting Volcanoes National Park and when we had some extra time during our stay, it was a easy drive to Punaluʻu black sand beach. This stay was absolutely phenomenal and I would recommend it to anyone. I'm going to have to start saving my money now for another trip to Hawaii!

What a beautiful place. A lot of extras on the property but we didn’t get to use as the location is very near volcanoes national park and we spent time all over the island

What a sanctuary! This home has everything…even a sauna and hot tub. We spent 4 nights here and slept like babies each night after visiting volcanoes and playing golf. This house was a welcome retreat during the afternoon rains.

Very relaxing and peaceful. A nice retreat on a quiet dead end street. The only thing we heard was the occasional dog bark (maybe twice) and that's it. Stayed 6 nights Hot tub and sauna were great. Beds and pillows were super comfortable. Nice kitchen and bathrooms. Would like to to try and stay again. Had to email twice the week ahead with area questions before getting a response from the manager, then it was only couple words reply.

This property is amazing. It is secluded and very private. It was wonderful to wake up every morning to such a beautiful location. Very close to the National Park, only took a few minutes to drive in and see the active volcano. It has all the amenities and more! I would highly recommend this for anyway wanting to visit Hawai'i.
