Welcome to Seaview! This is a unique family style vacation home, offering space for up to ten family members or friends to vacation together, with considerable privacy. Nestled against a large gulch, the views sweep across the ravine, over the fields, to a panoramic view of the entire coastline from Hookipa down to Kahului. There is also a gorgeous view of the West Maui Mountains.. It is truly a setting that will restore peace and tranquility to your life.
A vacation in Upcountry Maui is an opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle, and experience a different side of Maui. Set just a few hundred feet above sea level, Seaview sits outside the rain band, on the edge of a hill, at the entrance to the quiet, rural town of Haiku. Just one mile down the road is the town center, with a variety of amenities, eating places and services. For upscale dining, Mama's Fish House and Haliimaile General Store (two of Maui's best restaurants) are within ten to fifteen minutes by car. If you are looking for more options, Paia or Makawao are only ten minutes by car from Seaview.
The closest beach is Hookipa (5 minutes by car) which is considered a windsurfing/surfing/kiting beach. It's fun to sit on the beach and watch the action. Just before dusk, the sea turtles come out of the water to spend the night on the sand (far right corner of the beach). Another five minutes beyond Hookipa brings you to Paia Bay and then Baldwin Beach/Baby Beach. This is a long golden stretch of sand, and never crowded.
After a few hours at Seaview, you might not leave until it's time to catch your flight home. The grounds feature:

The main wing of the Seaview home offers:
- deck with chairs to enjoy the view
- large Great Room with living, dining for ten (rare to find a table that seats ten) and kitchen
- upper level with pool table
- two offices (his and hers) with high speed internet
- full wall of windows looking out to the North coastline
- three bedrooms (king, king, 2 twins), 2.5 bathrooms. These rooms are on the lower level.
Set to the back is the playroom or TV room that can be opened to the back courtyard (both sets of double doors open). This is a wonderful space if your group includes children, as it gives them some separation from the main living space. An extra fridge in this room is perfect for stockpiling cold sodas etc.
The Cabana Suite is the obvious favorite and a master bedroom like no other! It is a romantic room with arched ceiling beams and king bed facing across the pool to a gorgeous view of the North Shore. To the left side is a small patio, bordered by a section of grass, and then vegetation that drops into the gulch. The sound of water from the small stream behind the cabana will lull you to sleep.

The Nanny Suite is a two story suite which includes a sitting room, bathroom and bedroom (queen bed). This room sits above the playroom, and is perfect if a member of your group wants a bit more privacy.

Aloha! We are delighted that you are considering this property for your vacation lodging. We are sure that you would enjoy this lovely vacation home.
This property has a vacation rental permit issued by the County of Maui, and is subject to the rules and restrictions imposed by the County for all short term rental homes. Please understand that we would be unable to accept a rental that does not agree to abide by these rules. Note: properties without a short term rental permit are subject to closure by the County.
1. Neighbors - Please be considerate of our neighbors. Noise carries easily to their homes, particularly in the evening. NO loud music, NO parties, NO amplified sound of any nature at any time. Many neighbors must be up early in the morning to go to work, and it's important that your use of this property does not impact them in any way.
2. Quiet Hours - Quiet time is from 9pm to 8am.
3. Use of the Property - Additional friends/family CANNOT be invited to the property and it cannot be used as a “meeting place”. The property can be used ONLY by the guests listed on the rental agreement. The County law allows us to accommodate a maximum of two guests x the number of bedrooms.
4. Parking - There is plenty of parking on the property. Vehicles CANNOT be parked on the street at any time. When vehicles are on the street, there is insufficient space for emergency vehicles, fire trucks, the trash truck or neighbors to get down the road.
At the time of booking, we'll forward the property rental agreement for review and acceptance. Additional information with respect to care and maintenance of the house will be included in the rental agreement. Payment is accepted by check, VISA or MC. For guests preferring to use VISA or MC, a 2% processing fee will be added.

Overall this place was lovely! The view was amazing and the house was spacious and clean. When we arrived, it was clear the house was opened right before our arrival… very hot and the AC had a hard time cooling it down in the rooms where available. Specifically the master suite with two full walls of windows. The first night was VERY hot. Once the ac was able to get ahead of it, it was fine as long as we kept it on all the time.
We had to call the maintenance guy a couple of times during our week long stay- The faucet handle in the nanny suite broke in the shower and the pool was pretty cold. He came right away and worked on fixing the handle. When we asked about
The pool heat, he again came right away and turned the heater on. Apparently they don’t keep it on in the summer months although it’s advertised as a heated pool. This was something we looked for as we were traveling with our 6 month old baby.
Midway through the trip the pool guy was there and told us the hot tub had a leak and we couldn’t use it. He said he’d be back in a few days to fix it, but no one ever notified us when that was done, so we had to call and ask about it and it wasn’t available to us for 3 days, which stunk.
The location is good, neighborhood was nice and quiet, but for the price, I would not have anticipated needing to contact maintenance as many times as we did. Seems they wait for things to break instead of repairing before it’s a problem.

The view from Seaview is phenomenal. We were a family group of 8 ranging in ages from sweet sixteen to 81. We had a great time playing pool, swimming in the pool and hot tub and even had a putting tournament. This was our first time staying up country on the north shore. In the future we will probably will stay in the Haiku area. The lack of AC in the living and dining rooms was not a problem because of the trade winds. We will stay here again if the opportunity comes up.

The house is not on the beach, but it commands a breathtaking view of the coast. Avoid the crowds, enjoy the generously sized pool and lovely grounds. Gather bushels of oranges, too! Roads are adequate, supermarket is nearby, Norm is a friendly local host.

Beautiful property with many fruit trees. Amazing views and a nice quiet neighborhood in Haiku. You are very close to Paia for shops and restaurants. You won’t want to leave though.

Seaview is aptly named for the lovely, expansive view of the ocean off the north shore of Maui.
The home is beautifully appointed: well-equipped kitchen (we hired a private chef for 2 nights and he agreed!), comfortable beds, lots of outdoor space to enjoy the weather and the stars. Did I mention the STARS? Great view of the night (and early morning) sky.
There is an easy-to-use sound system on the pool deck, so we really came to love having Hawaiian music playing in the background.
The layout of the house is such that there is plenty of room for everyone to have private space - and likewise lovely communal areas that provide great gathering space - inside and out!

Overall, it is an excellent property with a lot of room to roam around. It's very private and secure with great staff. Bedrooms were all a good size and far enough apart to offer a lot of privacy. The pool and spa are a highlight for those who want to take advantage of them.
There are some minor (or maybe major) shortcomings, depending on one's point of view.
While it worked very well for our family group, it isn't ideal for a group of seniors because the only bedroom on ground level is the cabana suite.
The spiral staircase is very narrow and going downstairs with a laundry basket can be pretty tricky.
The screens on most of the windows in great room need to be replaced, because they don't fit well and won't stay in place. Similarly, putting sunshades on the west facing windows in the great room would significantly reduce the afternoon heat build up in that room.
I would definitely recommend this property.

Perfect house for a large family. Everyone had their own space as well as plenty of space to gather in kitchen/living area and around the pool. Can’t beat the view from the pool!
