The property is near the ocean. Great view from the lānai. At night the house was warm and the flooring was slippery and damp. The ceiling fans were a nice option to try and cool the house down.
The house was clean and there was plenty of space. Check-in and out was easy.

This property is absolutely beautiful. The location is far from most things, but by a beautiful state park. Everything about the property itself was great. However, the neighbors on both sides make it very clear that they would rather not have a VRBO nextdoor to them. The ones closest to the ocean called the property management company and made a false claim that some of the people in our party were smoking on the lanai. This was obviously not true and could have been fact checked with the cameras that are facing the lanai. There are several cameras on this property. Instead, we received an email informing us it was illegal and we needed to stop. The neighbor on the side farthest from the ocean started verbally harassing us on the day we checked in. He could be heard yelling "Shut the f*** up and get back in your f***ing rental" whenever we were outside, regardless of the time of day. Several people in my group are retired military and have hearing loss as a result so they do speak at a slightly higher volume than someone with perfect hearing. It definitely put a damper on our trip to feel like we couldn't go outside unless we were leaving.

We enjoyed our stay here. The house is very clean and very well stocked. The beds we very comfortable. The kitchen is beautiful and perfect for preparing meals. We spent every morning and evening on the lanai. At night we loved the sounds of the ocean and the chirp of the little frogs. I do recommend to arrive before dark. It is difficult to find at night when you are not familiar with the area. It is dark. There is no air conditioner, but once you get in and open the doors and turn on the fans, the home cools down quickly. We enjoyed our stay.

House is exactly as advertised. Check in process was easy. We enjoyed the book of information about the area of the house and things to do. Lanai is the place to be as the main houses very hot and stuffy during the time we stayed there. We open the windows at night, and used all the fans. Bring earplugs if you Can’t sleep with nature noises lol. Neighborhood is definitely far away from the touristy area so be prepared to drive when you want to do something. That was our plan all along so we had no issues.

We had such an amazing time! Breakfast on the front lanai with the ocean view is one of the things my whole family enjoyed. We walked down a couple of minutes through the park to the cliffs to watch the beautiful sunrise.Spacious and clean rooms.Had everything we required. We would love to stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at Moana Imaku. Everything was as advertised but the furniture on the lanai is getting a bit weathered. That being said we did spend most of our time out on that lanai staring at the ocean and enjoying the sounds of the neighborhood. I was up early every morning to see a beautiful sunrise over the ocean. The location was great, from there we drove around the island. The kitchen is extremely well set up and made cooking from home easy. Would definitely go again.

Hale Imaku was exactly everything that was promised. Clean,quiet,comfortable and well appointed. The perfect base for our three week adventure exploring the Big Island.The ramp from the parking area to the entry was perfect for our mother with her walker and definitely made it easy to move luggage in and out of the home. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. The cooler was used on almost every outing for drinks and snacks as we explored the island. Beach chairs and towels were so handy to have. We especially enjoyed Spencer Beach Park. We went to sleep every night to the rustling of palm trees and woke every morning to birdsong and the sound of the ocean. It was really so hard to leave and head back to the last snow of an Alberta winter. We have always been impressed with the VRBO homes we have rented in the past and Hale Imaku did not disappoint. This house was simply perfect for our family vacation. Between the Sun rise on the shore and dinner on the porch, everone on us had their perfect moment every day... The house if full equipped and met all ours needs. The little issues we may have had were promptly adressed and taken care off.We will definitely consider coming back to Moana Imaku !

The house was a perfect size for the 4 of us (2 couples), was very well equipped and was a nice location. We lived sitting on the patio and looking at the ocean. Nice quiet location and friendly neighborhood. The only drawback was some minor maintenance requirements in the house (broken cupboard door, sticky kitchen faucet) but not a big issue.

When we arrived it was pitch dark. The house was very nice, clean and better than what we expected. We could hear the ocean waves but could not see anything. The next morning, we were awestruck with the beautiful view of the ocean virtually right outside our door. You can not imagine how us desert rats from Arizona felt!!
It’s been an amazing experience and we wish we had MORE TIME! Hopefully we will be able to come back!

Services are not close if you need them, stores etc... local TV service at this house is limited if you need that, must have a car if you choose this location. For us it was perfect, didn't need the fancy things some folks need, wife and I had a great experience, and talk story with the neighbors,I could live there, we'll be back.

The location is perfect if you want a quiet, peaceful vacation. Shopping and restaurants are a 15 minute drive. The Lanai was a gem!!! I appreciated all of the amenities for handicapped visitor, with easy access to the house (ramp) and the shower.

We just returned from our stay at Moana Imaku and could not be more pleased with this location. The house was beautiful as was the location. It had everything we needed for a party of six and then some. They only thing I couldn’t find was beach towels bought we bought some as souvenirs. There were beach chairs, coolers, snorkels, boogie boards and water shoes. The lanai was absolutely amazing and is where we camped in our brief time that we weren’t out exploring. Although there is no AC, with all the windows open it was very cool and breezy in the house. There were plenty of goodies left from previous renters that were extremely helpful! You won’t regret booking your stay here!!

We stayed in Moana Imaku for a week and loved it. The house is really nice, the neighborhood is safe and quite and the ocean is just a two minute walk. We were there in July so we were concerned about not having AC. However, there are ceiling fans in all the rooms and the location cooled down enough that we had no problems sleeping. We did make it a point to be out of the house in the afternoons as it was quite warm.

The home was spotless, well-equipped, and spacious. One of our party missed having air conditioning, but soon acclimated to life on the lanai. Fans were plentiful. Wouldn't change a thing. A most perfect stay at this beautiful house in Hawaii. We had a party of 5 and fit very well in this house. We loved the location, being so close to the ocean and felt very welcomed by the neighbors. We felt like we lived on the lanai, it’s perfect! Breakfasts and dinners were spent out there most nights shared with lots of laughter and stories. The coqui frogs put us to sleep every night, we miss them already! They had lots of additional items we could use for the beach that we loved and all the amenities were great. Would absolutely book this place again and hope to return in the future!

We (two couples) stayed for eight days at the Moana Imaku. We were delighted with the property and location. It was comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, including various herbs and spices left by earlier renters. If you need a rental that accommodates a wheelchair or walker, the house is very accessible with a ramp, and wide doors in the main bedroom and ensuite with room to maneuver. The lanai was fantastic. We spent a lot of time there, rain or shine. We could hear the waves crashing and there was a view of the ocean through the park. Of course, it's a good drive to most locations but we enjoyed exploring the Puna area and the walks we took through Hawaiian Beaches. As is not unusual, there's no air conditioning but lots of fans and windows. The breeze usually cooled the house fairly quickly after it was closed up for the day. We did have a couple of minor issues - but the property manager took care of them promptly. (Some ant traps took care of a few too many sugar ants, and some magic repair of the fan remotes until the replacements arrive!) And we were greeted on arrival by "Henrietta" who also wandered through the yard daily! We would happily stay here again.

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moana Imaku. The house is located on the edge of a real neighborhood. Quiet and across the street from a neighborhood park. The complete opposite of a typical Hawaii condo development. The lanai is probably where we spent the most time, eating and relaxing. Restaurants and a grocery store are probably a 20-minute drive away. The slightly funky, small town of Pahoa is also close. The property manager was great. really responsive and friendly.

This was a perfect spot for our 4 generations of family !
My 80 yr old father, 30 yr old daughter and kids (12,8 and 6) all felt safe, comfortable and had plenty of room for all of us to enjoy. Loved walking across the road to the park ~ the rental had great beach chairs in all sizes for us to carry across the road where we would sit on the grass and enjoy the amazing ocean view!!
