Aina Malia, a unique property, is situated above beautiful Wailea Bay on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, one of the few white sand beaches on the island of Hawaii. Beautiful tropical landscaping abounds with privacy and romance. Custom designed home is perfect for family and friends. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchild.
The house was very comfortable for all of us to spread out. Very well equipped kitchen with magnificent views over a quiet bay and outdoor dining patio. Large yard with palm trees, hammock, and lounge chairs. Fairly easy access to the water and short walk to the beach. Perfect for snorkeling, kayaking and SUP.
We loved our stay in this quiet corner of Hawaii!

This home was pure paradise! Words cannot describe how we were immediately transported to what seemed a truly authentic Hawaiian experience. The oceanfront location, the secluded lush oasis, the resident fish and sea turtles, the relaxing yard, and the incredible artwork throughout the home’s interior spaces…all of it was absolutely divine! It was a splurge for us, but well worth it. Our experience was priceless and the memories cultivated among my family are precious. The purpose of our stay stemmed from my cousin’s wedding nearby on Puako Beach, which happened to coincide with my kids’ spring break. We were 6 adults and 3 children (ages 9, 13 & 15). The property manager was very responsive and helpful—providing an air bed so that I could fit four of us (me and my kids) in the bedroom with two beds. It was cozy, but worked perfectly, allowing my mom to have a bedroom and each of my sisters and their partners to have a bedroom. The outdoor showers became a novel highlight. The bathrooms and bedrooms were very well appointed and comfortable. The kitchen! The kitchen has pocket windows that open all the way onto the dining patio. It was heavenly letting the outside in. We enjoyed cooking and eating all our meals together there when not participating in wedding related activities. I did not miss indoor dining in the least. Island living at its finest. We enjoyed using the snorkeling and beach equipment as well. Great snorkeling directly in front of the house. So perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this home with us. I’m tempted to keep this place a secret!! It’s that good!

Staying at Aina Malia was an amazing experience, you live by the ocean and we managed to see from the house whales, turtles and manta rays. It's the perfect house to spend time with family during the holidays.
Thank you Pattie for everything

Clean & private. Location is good. Desperately needs to be upgraded and modernized. Get the outside tree & lights working, door locks replaced & oiled, knobs on the cupboards are mostly broken, gate lock repaired, etc.
Lacks an inside eating place in cold, wind or rain.

The location is an ideal balance of allowing easy access to a popular beach while granting exclusive privacy. The bottom of the steps in front are sandy, with an easy wade to the beach. (Or, if you want to keep your feet dry, take the Ala Kahakai trail 100' up the road to the beach.)
To counter a recent negative review: yes, people can climb the rocks in the front of the house - but we saw this only once in our week. Between the kiawe and impassable rocks, it takes a determined and frustrated tourist to explore the south end of the beach. And then there is a fence and more thorns between the rocks and the yard, so that you can feel safe napping in a hammock while being granted a stunning view. Behind the house, the beach access is now closed and the wall and sturdy gate left me comfortable enough to leave kayaks, bikes and gear out overnight.
The house is charming, bordering on peculiar. The kitchen was easy to work in, the house clean, and the surrounding community quiet and fascinating. It greatly exceeded our expectations and I wish we have spent another week. I've rented seven ocean front homes in the the Hawaiian Islands, and for this price, none have come close in quality and location.
