FAQs - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS THIS CONDO OR A HOTEL ROOM?
Both. The resort was previously a Hilton hotel, the units are just like hotel rooms. However, they are privately owned “condotels”. The resort operates much like a hotel, and most guests are not aware that the units are privately owned. Most of the units are offered to the public through the resort or through travel sites at much higher retail prices. Although, a few are offered on VRBO at owner rates with access to the resort’s amenities.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RENTING ON VRBO vs. THE RESORT
The $$$ price and also maid service. Renting direct through VRBO saves you a lot of money. However, daily maid service is not included. The cleaning fee you pay when booking takes care of cleaning and restocking the unit after your stay.
DOES THE UNIT HAVE A KITCHEN?
No. They do not have kitchens they were previously hotel rooms.
ARE WE ABLE TO COOK IN THE UNIT?
No. Local fire ordinances do not allow cooking in any of the rooms. The resort has a microwave in the lounge area on the 5th floor of Building 2 that can be used by all guests.
WHAT IS THE RESORT’S BEACH LIKE?
The resort is located on a 3-mile stretch of beautiful beach, amazing for long walks. The beach is very scenic but, is not considered a swimmable beach as it has a decent amount of coral. The surf is also unpredictable. It's best is to go to some of Kauai's many famous beaches for swimming. Lydgate Beach park is a nearby beach that is good for swimming.
SHOULD I GET A CAR?
We recommend that you have a rental car. The resort has most everything you need to have a wonderful time and relax. A car will allow you to experience many popular attractions, buying groceries, and going to many amazing restaurants etc. If you want a car for a day or two there is an on-site Hertz car rental agency. The rates are higher but it is an option for a short rental.
IS THERE FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE AIRPORT?
No. The shuttle service from the airport is not available to our guests. The resort does offer free shuttle service to/from the airport for guests who book through the resort. Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort is close the airport which makes taxi prices more reasonable. Uber also operates on the island!
ARE THERE BEACH TOWELS TO TAKE TO THE BEACH?
Your stay includes 4 pool/beach towels.
DOES THE RESORT CHARGE A RESORT FEE?
Private owner guests are not required to pay the $25 daily resort fee.
DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A DAILY PARKING FEE?
Yes, if you have a car the resort charges $40/day for parking. This fee is paid by the guest to Kauai Beach Resort at check-in.
DO I GET FREE WI-FI INTERNET SERVICE?
YES! Wi-Fi is FREE in all the units. The signal extends into the lobby, restaurants, bars and in the pool area!
DOES THE UNIT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING?
Yes. The unit has central A/C

This is an older facility but kept in good shape. The grounds are beautiful, but the rooms are pretty average. Great view of the ocean and pools from our room on the 5th floor. The beach is wonderful for walking but not recommended for swimming due to the coral. If you’re looking for a beautiful location in a relaxing and quiet environment, for a reasonable price, this is a good option. You’ll spend more than double for a room with this kind of ocean view at one of the bigger/newer resorts. My only complaint with the room itself (5204) was the buzzing/humming that happens every few minutes for 5 seconds or so. It got really annoying fast. I really wish the owners would get this addressed for future renters.

This is basically a hotel room at an Outrigger resort. No kitchen. No microwave. Basic drip coffee maker (not kcup). The view is great (top floor and center view of the ocean and pool area), with nice patio—better than advertised. Room overall was clean but could have been cleaner. There was some dirt in the crevices of the light switches and other small areas. The sheets didn’t smell fresh, and as was advertised not changed daily. One thing I wished I had known was that there is a “treasure chest” with leftover items from prior guests. Random things left were sunscreen, coffee filters, plastic utensils, cups. So it makes sense to check the room first before going to the store to buy a bunch of things. But kind of a nice “amenity” I wasn’t aware of.

Beautiful view. Watched the sunrise from my balcony every morning. The host left a few essentials for us to use, thanks.
Only bad thing is there is some kind of pump noise in the wall that goes off repeatedly all night long.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. The check in process took longer than it should have, but the remainder of the stay was enjoyable. We didn’t have a chance to try the onsite restaurants since we left early each morning and returned later in the evenings. It would have been nice if there was a microwave in the room, but there was one not too far from our room. The pools and hot tub were very nice. Sunrises were excellent. We would definitely stay here again.

This was undoubtedly the most expensive and least comfortable place I stayed in Kauai , I had a spot I payed $50 less with a full kitchen w espresso machine n cookware , oven and stovetop ; 2 bathrooms a separate living room area . This is not a even 1 bedroom this is like a Studio Apartment ; fire alarm went off at 6 am for 30 minutes ( making all guests open their door and come out wondering what’s going on in ). Choose a better spot

We had an incredible time and couldn’t ask for anything more! The location was ideal - close to the airport and perfectly positioned for exploring the entire island. It was easy to get to the north/east for an exhilarating helicopter tour, hiking and beach days, snorkeling adventures, and delicious food, or to the south/west to witness the breathtaking Waimea Canyon, off-road adventures to Polihale, and the charming turtles on the beaches of Poipu.
The property itself was a tropical paradise with exquisite landscaping. Our room offered a stunning view of the pools and the beach beyond with the perfect sunrise view. While the beach wasn't ideal for swimming, it was a lovely place for a walk and lounging in the provided beach chairs, plus numerous swim-friendly beaches were just a short drive away.
Our room was the perfect size for two, we appreciated the convenience of the small fridge and coffee maker plus there is a microwave just down the hall if needed. We also thought the bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we had restful nights. The resort's amenities - on site restaurants, live music, excellent pools/hot tubs all added to our overall experience.
A special thank you to Crystal, who made our stay even more memorable. She was incredibly helpful and accommodating, offering fantastic recommendations for local experiences and was always quick to respond to our questions before and during our stay, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience. Mahalo!

The property is beautiful. The setting is peaceful and serene with the pool and garden areas surrounding the property. There was repairs being made to the buildings while we were there and that may help the sound of the elevator close to the room and the air circulation in the attic area above the room. The property is not walkable to local shops but that does help with not having the sounds of the traffic and the outside hustle and bustle. Wonderful place to sit and lounge at one of the pools or go for a walk along the beach. The resort also has many options for day and night activities.

Beautiful property all on its own. Beach is beautiful and wild. The nightly music entertainment at the Shutters lounge was very good quality. The pool/garden area was beautiful and never crowded. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I stayed here for a week and loved it. The resort is called Kauai Beach Reaort and Spa and is right in the beach on the East coast of Kauai. We liked this location because it gave us access to the North shore and the South. It is very nice and clean. The people who work here are friendly and happy. It has a fitness center that was well equipped and convenient. The pools are nice and they have poolside entertainment and a nice poolside bar. The restaurants were much better than I expected. We only had one dinner here, but both enjoyed our meals and drinks. The parking was easy. We were able to use the resort laundry room, which was clean and in good working order.
The room is on the 5th floor and has a nice view of the beach and the pools. The room itself was perfect for us. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There is a coffee machine in the room and also a Starbucks downstairs. They left us plenty of towels for both beach and shower. There is a good sized refrigerator and a freezer and a microwave and ice machine just down the hall. We used the lanai to sit and drink coffee in the mornings. Crystal was really helpful. She answered all of my questions beforehand and offered us a mid-week cleaning and fresh towels. I asked for a later checkout because we had a late flight and she allowed us to stay for an extra hour even though new guests were arriving the same day. I heartily recommend this vacation rental!

This place was truly perfect for our needs. The host was great, super responsive and friendly with great details to prepare for the trip. Everything was smooth sailing. The resort and the pool areas were just awesome; we don't usually stay in places with so many on-site amenities (multiple pools, restaurants, spa, etc), but for this trip, it just made everything nicer. I loved the vibe of the waterfalls, and the on-site bar/food at the pool was so convenient. We must have picked the perfect time to go because it wasn't crowded, easy to grab a great lounge chair by the pool or seat at the bar and restaurant. There is a fantastic spot to view the sunrise every morning. The room was clean and comfortable, location perfect for a quick drive to Kapa'a or a trailhead, and getting to Poipu or Hanalie in under an hour. We'd love to stay at this same spot again!

We were a little hesitant about staying at a VRBO room at a full resort, but the whole thing turned out excellent. The room was great and affordable, and the resort has a great atmosphere. The view from the lanai was great, and the poolside was relaxing.

This is a full service resort - meaning you do not have to go anywhere, if that is what you are looking for. It is a bit of Tinseltown with all the waterfalls, pools, activities, etc so if you are looking for quiet - this is not it. The room is nice and comfy, has everything you need. Staff were helpful and pleasant - they helped make a boat cruise reservation, printed out directions, showed me the Business Center to use the computer.
My card key didn't work twice over my two days. And while there is someone to call I had to wait an hour both times for maintenance to get me in my room - they are busy as it is a big resort. My only real complaint is that the room is on the 5th floor, right under what seems to be an all building roof fan that runs all day. At first I thought the humming and slight reverberation in my room were my neighbor's AC, then I thought it was a helicopter overhead, then I thought it was a leaf blower. It is pronounced enough that when it is running it is unpleasant to have the patio door open/sit out on the patio. It turns off at the end of the day - when the temps cool off. It bugged me enough to leave my room and go outside - which anyone visiting HI should do anyway. The room has a view of the pool and the ocean - which is nice. The resort has everything you need - it seemed to be popular for families. All these conveniences do cost - from a daily parking fee to food prices in the restaurants. But it was a great stay overall.
