The Jungalow is a fantastic place to relax in the heart of Volcano. Close to the national park woth some great food options nearby and a central location to Hilo and the sputh coast.Amazing home with everything you could need to feel atbease while staying.

Really a great change from the Kona beach experience. The Jungalow is really comfortable and well equipped. My family and I really felt at home, and loved the cool, misty mornings with the chickens and pheasants in the front yard adding a comical touch to morning coffee. I'm sorry we didn't stay a few extra days just to hang around the property. The neighborhood is great, my teenager is trying to get me to move here!

We spent 3 nights at The Jungalow and loved everything about it, minus the uncomfortable beds. The home was nicely renovated, and we had every comfort available. We appreciated the fireplace for the chilly mornings. Be sure to check out the great book selection about the island! The location was excellent for exploring the National Park, although somewhat remote. If you're coming from Hilo, definitely hit up Foodland for supplies before you come up. We had a rooster and hens visit us daily in the morning and a couple pheasant showed up too. Nightly bird song. Beautiful property and landscaping.

Quiet neighborhood with a rainforest like atmosphere. Covered outside area to sit and enjoy coffee in the morning and libations in the evening after a grand hike around the rim. The beds were soft. The gas fireplace was awesome on a rainy evening after dinner. This place was perfect for our stay and we would love to stay here again given the opportunity.

The Jungalow is lovely and situated in a neighborhood with lots of greenery incl. palms, ferns, flowers and woodland critters like frogs, birds, visiting chickens. It was nice to get away from city lights and sounds - we slept great! The location is good for various day trips. We received directions and other info prior to our arrival, and the property manager was easy to contact for questions re how to recycle items, and we suggested securing the edges of the area rugs for better safety. I would recommend the Jungalow to friends.

Excellent choice for visiting the national park. All the amenities you need. We use VRBOs typically as a place for a day off and to do laundry.. Restaurants in the area are limited, but still a few to choose from. The owner is easy to work with. They do not require a lot of unreasonable check out requirements; they recognize that you are on vacation not cleaning up youth own house

We were surprised that water pressure was greatly compromised off and on throughout this stay . Our warm shower would slow to a trickle, and same in the kitchen. We understand using a catchment and pumps to supply water to a home can be tricky in "remote " Hawaii. A heads -up would have made us feel better. Though it may be nice to have some foods left by previous guests such as ketchup, etc, generally believe the fridge should be cleaned out after each guest. There was outdated cream, for example, eggs, butter- cannot be sure if safe to eat-best to clean out. Same with pantry-many half empty boxes of crackers. Kitchen supply was running low-dish soap, for example. Lastly would suggest that if manager wants to impress guests of cleanliness, bedding should be requested to be removed as guest exits.

The property was exactly as listed. The location was so serene and the landscaping was lush. We absolutely loved the visits from the chickens and listening to the coquis at night. The night sky was incredible due to no streetlights. The electric fireplace was perfect in the morning to take the chill off. We loved the Jungalow style of decoration that fit so perfectly with the surroundings. Plentiful coffee and a bonus of having condiments and other goodie’s left over from previous guests. We didn’t want to leave!

Hello Jennifer. My family and I stayed at Jungaloo for a nite. It was a really nice experience for all is. The house was lovely. It was cozy and decorated with unique furnishings which were really awesome. The outside was beautiful with all of the different plants and foliage. The sounds from crickets, frogs and birds chirping and plants swaying in breeze was nice. There was however one big negative about our stay. The house really needed to be cleaned. Here are some of the issues you may want to address for future. - Spider webs some with live spiders throughout house -About one inch or more of dust under beds - Floors were dirty. We all wore socks sine we did not want to wear outside footwear in house. - Kitchen counters and dining table were sticky and needed a good wipe down - bugs that had been squished on walls and just left there. - Bathroon faucets and sinks needed to be cleaned - Shower curtains were moldy - Toilets needed to be cleaned inside and out - Large dust balls around fireplace - Accumulation of white dirt on ranch style windows above front door Basically house just needs a good cleaning. We would love to stay there again and possibly recommend family and friends to stay there but not under current circumstances of cleanliness. I hope you will take my comments under consideration as it is a very lovely place to stay at. Thank you.

This was the most precious little bungalow nestled in the jungle and so close to the park. The house had everything we needed and was accurately described. You will fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and wake up to the most adorable chickens saying hello in the morning. My kids loved this place. Very comfortable and so close to all the things you need. Stop looking and just stay here. :) Highly recommend.

Located 6 mins from Volcano NP entrance (and 9 mins to a great hiking trail, the Iki Crater), the Jungalow is a super quiet home surrounded by rainforest (and some chickens and peeping coqui frogs, at night). It’s beautifully decorated and has 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 baths. Bring your rain jackets (and a layer of warm clothes), visit Thai Thai for a yummy dinner, check out the Volcano Art Center, and grab homemade banana and pumpkin bread at the general store (next to Thai Thai) and you’re good to go!

The Jungalow was a great place to stay to explore Volcano National Park. It’s about 10 minutes to the entrance of the park and made it super easy to arrive midday and explore and then return first thing the next day and do some trails before the crowds in the morning. Her place was cute, clean and exactly as described - it fit our family of 5 very well. We’d definitely stay here again!

The Jungalow is now one of our favorite places, ever! Great communication and service from the host, wonderful (well stocked) home, and the setting is beautiful! We so loved our stay. If we are ever in the area again, this will be our first choice for future stays. Mahalo to the host for an amazing time in your home!

June 2024
Our family of 4 had a wonderful 2-night stay at The Jungalow. The house was beautiful inside with so many thoughtful touches--including a WELL-stocked kitchen and coffee station. Restaurants in Volcano Village are just a 5 minute drive up the road. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to the frogs at night with the windows open--you truly feel like you're in the rainforest. So convenient to Volcanoes National Park one mile away, we were able to come and go from the park easily with the house as home base. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

We could not have been more pleased. Our early birds enjoyed sitting on the lanai in the mornings drinking coffee and listening to the light sprinkle in the trees, while watching the local "wildlife" in the yard. Those of us who enjoy a few more hours of sleep loved the peacefulness of the place. We had everything we could have needed - our hosts thought of it all! The location was wonderful for a visit to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Hilo was only a short drive away and we visited that area a couple of days as well. We can heartily recommend Jungalow!

April 2024
We had a wonderful stay at The Jungalow! The property was perfectly located, close to the Volcano National Park and in a lovely neighborhood. The house itself was immaculate and very cozy. My entire family loved it. We were sad to only stay one night, if we make it back we would absolutely stay there for longer. Highly recommend The Jungalow!!

April 2024
The Jungalow was just as pictured - a beautiful house nestled in the rainforest near Volcano National Park. Proximity to the park was perfect and let us get a good start to our day. The kitchen, bathrooms, and linen closet were stocked with all the necessities. The fireplace, heated blankets, and space heaters kept us warm on the cold, spring nights. One tip for guests - there is very, very limited eating & grocery shopping in the area. Next time, I would stock up before I left Hilo.

We loved the experience at the house and VNP. The house is well decorated with cheery colors on the walls. Super convenient to the national park and good restaurants. My daughter said “it was the best experience ever”.

March 2024
The house is beautiful, the tiny extra things like heated blankets and the beautiful dishes really make this house unique. The location was perfect for our group. It did include a bit of a drive but we really enjoyed that. We saw so many amazing sights/ views. I give this house a 25 out of ten.

March 2024
Perfect opportunity for seeing this area without needing to go back to the west side. We went to the Star of the Sea Church that was rescued from the lava flow. We hiked the east rim and visited the west rim of Kilauea. Jungalow was a welcome place to visit with my sister and old nursing friend. It was lovely with the chicks and tremendous flora.

The Jungalow is a beautiful home set back within the rainforest of Volcano. The setting was even more gorgeous than the listing pictures! We loved the fireplace and space heaters and the house was well accommodated with everything we needed. Would love to stay here again!

February 2024
We loved the Jungalow. The home is perfectly located for exploring the national park and Volcano area. The owner was responsive to our needs. The home was comfortable and well-decorated. We really appreciated the gas stove and electric blankets on the cool nights at this elevation of about 4,000 feet. We’d happily return for more exploration!

We were staying at a condo in Mauna Lani but decided to do an overnight stay in Volcano. We needed two bedrooms and two bath. This property fit the bill. Only suggestion would be more comfortable beds.

Jennifer P.
February 2024
Charming property and grounds, great neighborhood (a few barking dogs made us a little nervous on a walk, but they seemed to be behind fences mostly), easy access to VNP (we mainly hiked around the Crater, etc.), wonderful bed linens, towels, decor, fully stocked kitchen and extra pantry items, lovely porch, nice electric fireplace. One bonus would be to upgrade the mattresses--one was very hard and the other two a bit softer than preferred. Two bathrooms for the 5 of us was also very nice for our group. All in all, great stay. Easy access to Hilo side. Everyone wished we had booked it longer! We would definitely stay here again.

This place fit well into the rain forest environment. A few nearby roosters were our morning alarm clock and a variety of exotic birds provided beautiful song during breakfast. The Jungalow is well located for visiting Volcanoes National Park. Perfect for a family vacation.

We loved Volcano and this house was our favourite of all the home stays in Hawaii. The fireplace created a cosy atmosphere and each room had its own separate heaters and heated blankets to take the chill off cold evenings. Thank you for having us.

November 2023
Super stay. Everything was just right. The impatiens and hapu'u in the front yard are beautiful. The wall decor and comforters are welcoming. The gas fireplace is the bomb! The kitchen is well appointed. Love the turquoise blue glaze on the dishes. Lockbox worked just fine. Had baby with us and appreciated the high chair etc. Did not run out of hot water, yay. Perhaps the listing could be more specific about the beds or perhaps I didn't read the listing carefully enough. Front room with dual entry doors felt like a full sized bed, not a queen sized? This place was just perfect for what we needed!

October 2023
We enjoyed our stay at the Jungalo. It is an excellent location for accessing Volcano National Park. It is close enough that we could come back for lunch and return to the park later in the day. The property has privacy and is quiet (no traffic or loud neighbors). The nature sounds at night are just beautiful. The fire was much appreciated in the early mornings and in the evenings after we got back from exploring. The host has done a good job anticipating the needs of guests and has supplied the property well. She was friendly and responded quickly to messages. I would say that the only negative we noted, was the comfort of the beds and pillows. They weren't super comfortable for us, but I also acknowledge that comes down to personal preferences, so what didn't work for us might work for others. Overall we had a positive experience and would recommend the Jungalo!

October 2023
My family (husband, mother and two sons 9 & 11) enjoyed our two night stay. Mira is a most thoughtful host! The beds were comfortable. We loved the fireplace during the chilly nights, and my sons moved their electric blankets. Our favorite part was listening to the songs outside at night. The birds, frogs, insects…we actually recorded it because it was like nothing we’ve ever experienced. Totally felt like we were in the rain forest. The proximity to Volcanoes National Park can’t be beat! And if you get a chance to eat at Rico’s Taco truck…do yourself a favor and GO! The Birria tacos were beyond fantastic!

We come to Volcano at least once an year even if Halemaumau is not erupting. Jungalow is well-kept and clean. It provides everything to make a short stay pleasant. Wi-fi works well as did the TV. Kitchen is generously equiped- salt, pepper even oils. The living area is cozy and comfortable. Even in September the nights and early mornings are chilly. The gas fireplace is perfect. Shower is nice with hot water. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

The jungalow was one of the best Vrbo’s I’ve stayed in (even internationally)! The house was impeccably clean and there was such attention paid to every detail to make our stay more comfortable. Mira really went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed. The little things like coffee, soaps, spices and oils, laundry detergent, heating blankets, fans, etc are what really makes a good stay into an amazing stay. And again…did I say it was clean? Fabulous! Also so close to the national park that we could go to the lava tube and overlooks several times in one day :). If I’m ever back, here this is where I am staying!

We had a really pleasant two night stay at this house. It's nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Very close to the volcano gave us the chance to arrive the park early and stayed late. I'd recommend.

August 2023
My family of four (2 adults, six year old, and four year old) stayed here for three nights while visiting Volcanos National Park. It was amazing! The house is set in the dense rainforest and you can hear gentle bird calls all day/night long. It’s just a few minutes from Volcanos National Park, so we got to hit the trails before it got crowded or hot. The beds were firm, the fireplace so cozy on a cool mountain night, and the entire house had a snuggly vibe. The kitchen is very well stocked and everything was clean. Mira (the property manager) was kind, responsive, and gracious. She made me feel like we were welcome guests in her home. If we ever make our way to the Volcano again, I would stay here in a heartbeat. (And part of me wants to just move here permanently!)

What a gorgeous location and beautiful, thoughtfully decorated home to visit Volcano and Hilo area! We were over on Hawaii for a week to enjoy Volcano and support our eldest daughter paddling with Lanikai Canoe Club in the State Championships in Hilo Bay. We all slept very well, enjoyed the cooler nights and breezes, time around the fireplace, stargazing, and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Jungalow! Mira was most thoughtful to provide fruit from her farm, and gifts of Hawaiian snack for us to enjoy! Her hospitality was wonderful and the home was well stocked with all we needed for kitchen, bed and bath - even beach towels and a few chairs for our regatta day! We highly recommend staying at this remarkable home and can't wait to return! Mahalo nui loa, Mira! 🌺 Michael & Lauren

The Jungalo was a perfect spot for our family of 5 as we explored the Volcanos National Park. Bedrooms are cozy, comfortable, and have everything you need to relax after a long day. We only wish we had more time there to explore! Would highly recommend staying at Mira’s jungalo and would definitely return again on our next visit.

August 2023
The Jungalow is such a lovely vacation home. The owners clearly take very good care of the home and property. The furniture is comfy, the kitchen is well organized and well stocked, and the open concept layout of the house is very nice. The property is filled with natural beauty and we enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The house is near the Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village. The neighborhood is a nice place to take a walk or a jog. I can’t wait to be able to stay there again.

July 2023
The ”jungalow” is nestled in the rainforest and feels very private and secluded. It was super clean and well equipped; has everything you need for cooking although we opted to eat out most nights. No dishwasher but a washer and dryer in the attached garage. Nice bedding and towels. Not as close to Volcano Village as some properties we’ve stayed in, but nothing is more than a 5 minute drive away; 10 minutes (max) to the park entrance. Everything you need for a few days in Volcano!

Just the cutest house! We loved the fire and surprised but we actually used it! Definitely bring your ear plugs the nocturnal frogs are no joke! We were so comfortable and really enjoyed our stay my only tip for cleaners would be to leave a new unopened sponge for the dishes.

July 2023
Such a great place! Beautiful, cozy, clean, easy check in/out process. This place is immersed in nature. Loved coming back here after spending day at Volcano National Park. The neighborhood is magical. The whole place/yard.... even better in person ! Roosters were in the yard one AM and it was so fun to see them foraging. Will be recommending this wonderful find to anyone I know coming to visit this area. Stay here, you will be so glad you did.

June 2023
Just minutes away from volcano np. I absolutely love this place, feel so welcoming when we enter the house. It has everything we need and even more. Very comfortable, just feel like we are home. Mira responded the message very fast. We enjoyed our stay a lot!

An absolutely great place to stay if you want to visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It is very close to the park, yet the location was away from all the hustle and bustle. It was easy to go back for lunch and then go back later in the evening, or early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The house was perfect for our group of 4. Having two bathrooms really helped. The hosts provided many of the basics - napkins, paper towels, ziplocks, ice cubes, and some nice extras with a selection of coffee pods and teas; two large umbrellas that came in very handy; and beach towels. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit HVNP for more than a day.
