Staff was great with one exception; the AC in the MBR stopped working. I reported it on a Thursday, no response. Called again on Tuesday and they reported that they didn't follow up. When they finally got around to. Still no action by Tuesday only to tell us we would have to wait until end of next week. Only because I found a HCVAC repair person working at the condo, did the repair was made. But all in all, except for the HCVAC incident, they were pretty good..

As others have said, the view from this unit is really beautiful. We enjoyed watching the turtles and surfers from the balcony, and the sunsets out the window were stunning.
The location is nice--about a 5 minute walk over to Baby Beach and a 15 minute walk to the shopping center down the street.
Some things to be sure you are aware of:
Laundry is shared and coin operated at the end of the hall.
Not sure if it was just the time of year, but the little gnats on the balcony were out of control. Be prepared to swat at them constantly.
The pool included with the stay if fun, but it is a short drive away from the apartment.

This property was perfect in every way! The views are absolutely breathtaking. The unit itself is well equipped and close to plenty of shopping and restaurants. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. While visiting we did the Na Pali Rider excursion along the coast and it was beautiful to say the very least. Also, for pet lovers, we booked a field trip with a dog from the Kauai Humane Society for a day and had a wonderful experience.

The views were amazing and as pictured. We saw lots of sea turtles from our balcony. The place was clean and well stocked. The beach chairs, umbrella and boogie boards were nice to have. The main bedroom and living room cooled down nicely with the a/c but there was none in the second bedroom so it was a bit warm at night even with the fans but everything else was great. It's a great location.

I've visited Kauai several times and this was the third time staying at Kuhio Shores. This unit is breathtaking. The oceanfront views at two sides offer daily sunsets and sea turtles in abundance. The unit is well-stocked. The ventilation was great; air conditioning was not necessary. All seemed idyllic and yet...When we checked into the unit, the hallway bathroom was not working. We received no response when we called the "24/7" numbers. It took two days to fix the toilet, which meant that our friend had to go through our bedroom in order to use a toilet. The three of us are all in our seventies and this was quite awkward for our friend. The person who "helped" us at Poipu 365 was curt. She offered several excuses for why the repair couldn't be done in one day. It took two repairmen to fix the toilet. My wife told both repairmen about an additional problem, a broken toilet seat in our bathroom. After we checked out, we expressed our dissatisfaction with their quality control, as we felt that they were negligent renting a high-quality unit to us without checking the toilet. Their response was again curt and insulting, insisting that their cleaning crew would have noticed a broken toilet. They knew nothing about a broken toilet seat. They acted as though if was all made up and all our fault! This is not what I expected when I rented a beautiful place like Kuhio Shores. I recommend that the owners find a new management team.

Overall had a great stay @ Kuhio Shores 418. Setting was beautiful right on the ocean, sunsets were spectacular, apartment was quite comfortable. Setup was functional, kitchen was more than adequate, would have been nice to have a few more spices and condiments. Lanai was great, the views at sunset from the front room was to die for.
The provided beach equipment was nice to have, 2 beaches within easy walking distance. Word of advice: snorkeling goggles will need to be rented or brought with.
The only improvement would be to get rid of the louvered doors. The noise travelled throughout the apartment, especially at night.
Also, the damn Kauai roosters crow all day, all night.
Overall, a very nice stay in a beautiful setting!

Kuhio Shores 418 is such an excellent unit for the perfect Poipu stay. We spent most of our time with the sliding glass door and the windows wide open for the most wonderful fresh island breezes and ocean wave sounds. The unit is well maintained and appointed with everything needed: more than enough towels, great beach gear and coolers, and everything needed to cook. The beds are comfy, the wifi works great, and the views all day are spectacular. Was concerned the restaurant would be noisy but it really wasn't. The AC and fans in the bedrooms and living room made the space extra comfortable for sleeping. Most condos in Hawai’i are not as clean or well cared for as this unit. You cannot beat the ocean front location and view of Kuhio Shores 418, plus it is a 3-5 minute drive from everything you could want in Koloa and Poipu. The management company dropped off the parking pass the next day so we didn’t even need to do a check in at the building. Top to bottom a great experience. We cannot wait to get back to Kuhio Shores 418.

We have stayed at KS418 many times and love it. Check in / out couldn't be easier. Had minor smoke alarm failure; it was repaired promptly. I have one minor issue; there are new push button switches for lights and fans that are not intuitive - takes some groping plus trial and error to sort them out. I favor old-school toggle switches - simple and intuitive. But this is a minor hassle - probably intended to improve convenience. Clean - yes! I went over the place with a UV light before we moved in and found nothing. The place always seems clean; this time I can confirm it.

When we booked it was the view that hooked us.. and then we discovered so much more!
We came to Kauai to enjoy a different type of Hawaii vibe. The first night we wandered into the restaurant next door.. little did we know it was such a hot spot .. we cheered with the crowd as we toasted the green flash ! Morning coffee on the Lanai and watching whales in the distance. We kayaked the with Wailua river with Kauai Kayak and came home to a cool and comfortable spot to watch the sunset on another awesome day. We laughed when our snorkel tour led us to the place right next door that we had checked out the day before. Thanks to Kauai Z-Tourz for putting names to the fishy faces and showing all the best spots.
Lawa’i Beach is a great place in the January surf! Check out Eden Coffee right down the street. What a wonderful home base for a comfy bed and a hot shower. Thank you!

Several advantages: The bedroom windows are on the outside of the building Not opening to the exterior walkway – more secure and better breezes. The furniture is comfortable and not overly nice/fussy, so we could feel at home. The condo itself is in great condition, nothing broken or needing to be refreshed, AND very clean. That doesn’t even begin to cover the view! Stunning!Many thanks to property managers, Vicki and Cher Lani at Poipu365. Any (small) issues we mentioned were resolved the same day I texted! Vicki even came by just after we checked in to deliver our welcome package. Really appreciated Cher Lani’s patience with all my questions before booking.

Amazing views of the water and a spacious and well laid-out condo. Great snorkeling just steps away and quick access to Longs, ice cream, Poipu and Brenecke Beaches. Many amenities in this well-stocked unit. The living room and kitchen floors had highly-visible amounts of food (bread crumbs?) on the tile and the area-rugs, and we found garbage under the couch (we had to move it to place a blow up bed). The lanai needed a thorough sweeping and the kitchen table looked like it had been wiped with something greasy (no glass cleaner anywhere in the house to clean it with), toaster was dirty. Towels were lacking for a party of 5, and one blow-up mattress lacked a pump and was un-useable. I left a message about that but never heard back. The water was undrinkable, even for making coffee, and it would be a nice gesture to get a Brita filter or something for renters to not have to purchase loads of bottled water. A lovely stay overall, but not for the December pricing. We also rented a very similar unit in Poipu Shores (unit 303A) that was gorgeous (more up to date), extremely clean and half the cost for the exact same dates.

The views from this unit were utterly spectacular (10/10!) and if that’s the only thing that matters to you, this is an amazing place to stay. For our group of 4 60-ish year olds, the beds were really uncomfortable, there was zero privacy even with bedroom doors closed, too few towels, toilets were ridiculously loud (although functional), and the bedding was old and furnishings dated. The management was very responsive though, and the gym - Poipu Beach Club - which is included, was a great bonus. Would love to give this a 5/5, just can’t.

Been to Kuhio Shores 15 years ago and it’s still the same. Beautiful ocean front , on the reef front building.
We went all in on this 4th floor South West end unit. Views were spectacular and other than some pesky nats on the lanai 5 out of 6 days, everything about this unit is amazing. AC! Fans, comfortable master bed and great appointments. Smart tvs and everything you need to cook your brains out , we did mostly breakfast. Poipu has a lot of great food and bars, The Beach House can make some noise till 9:30ish if a wedding or live music is playing, your right next door. Mahalo

They even provided multiple pairs of swim fins. Fabulous location located only minutes from Poipu beach and a great selection of restaurants, Merriman's being our favorite! You can't beat the location. Great snorkeling right outside the condo. We had great customer service - very responsive. We would definitely choose this unit again. The parakeets that nested in the tree right outside the window each night were so much fun to watch. A very low key area on Kauai but close to everything you would want to do.

We really enjoyed our stay. The views from our deck and living room were phenomenal. We enjoyed sunsets and watching surfers, turtles, and dolphins.
The condo was clean and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped to make simple meals. The air conditioning kept us nice and cool. The location was very convenient.
There were a couple negatives, but definitely not dealbreakers for renting this condo again. The bathroom doors are louvered, so they may not provide as much sound protection as one would like for privacy. The restaurant next door has weddings and events, so the music can be loud until about 10:30pm.
Regardless, I would love to stay here again for our next visit.

This home has a fantastic view. We were a little bothered by the noise next door at the beach house restaurant. There seemed to be a wedding almost very night we stayed. We have stayed in this house numerous times and it always draws us back. It could use some updates . The beds are very comfortable. The pots & pans are terrible, old & everything sticks. We were very disappointed that the washer & dryer were removed from this unit. The stove/ oven didn’t work but my husband was able to fix it. He is good with trouble shooting & fixing most problems. Over all the view is amazing & the vacation was awesome.

Arriving at The Penthouse unit 418 at Kuhio Shores will leave you breathless once you walk into the living room! The panoramic views of the crashing waves to the sunset views will make you want to stay all day at the unit! We woke up and made coffee every morning before sunrise, and went to bed early! Four 60-year-old lifetime friends enjoying catching up and experiencing beautiful Kauai! The Athletic club membership with the pool and slide is a huge bonus. We will be back!

Kuhio Shores 418 is truly a dream come true!Spacious and well-maintained unit with a 360 view of Lawa'i beach and the beach house restaurant! From the lenai we watched turtles eat and rest on the lava rocks; surfers catching that perfect wave; spinner dolphins and even a couple whales all passed by to greet us! The accommodations are clean, well maintained and strategically placed mirrors so that no matter where you are in the unit you can see the view. We cannot wait to come back!

The only things I would wish for were - good smelling body wash in showers, add amenities of lots of spices in kitchen, add shampoo and condition in showers, and have towels that feel like they soak up the water after showering. The beach towels and beach equipment of masks, fins, chairs, etc. was a plus as well as multiple small picnic coolers. Great place to stay and I would stay there again. Thanks!

Pros: very comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed including wine glasses. There was also a bottle of bubbly in the fridge when we arrived. The view was beautiful, right on the beach, AC, great beach equipment, nice location, at 5min drive to Poipu beach.Cons; we never could get the wifi to work, we wanted to stream a video but there was not even a router in the house, but we were given a wifi code. I'm very tech savy and would have been able to figure it out if it was possible. My father couldn't figure out how to turn on the TV. The building was dated, outside landscaping wasn't very appealing, looked like an SOCAL building, nothing charming or Hawaiian about it. Surrounded by other buildings without much tropical landscaping or lushness you would expect.

Amazing view, and wonderful location at Poipu Beach. We watched turtles every morning, and the sunsets were gorgeous. Plenty of beach equipment for our excursions to beaches. Had dinner at the Beach House right next door and it was delicious. Condo itself is a little dated, and could use a dehumidifier, as it felt damp during our stay.

The property was as described and the views were unbelievable. Plenty of air conditioning, beach gear, and the kitchen was stocked with enough pots and utensils to cook a meal. The beds were comfortable ; the bed linen was just ok. The living room furniture wasnt the greatest and Im sure we would have spent more time enjoying the view if there was an actual couch and not just patio furniture, but i get the vibe they were going for. It was really nice having a laundry facility on site and we loved watching a different wedding from our balcony each night. Overall the rental was great and we would definitely stay again. The only other thing i would add is that this rental would be difficult for someone with a disability. There is an elevator but it is at the complete opposite end and the only alternative is walking up 4 flights of stairs.

We loved this stay so much. It was the second half of our trip, and a great place to end the trip! Every evening we enjoyed the stunning sunset either at the little beach or on the lawn downstairs. The condo was exactly as stated and was equipped with everything we needed and more!

We were blown away by the floor to ceiling windows that gave us such an amazing view of the surf and sunsets. The place was a great size for us and could have easily accommodated 4 people. The place was fully equipped with everything we could have needed, and we were greeted by a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. Overall what an amazing place to spend a vacation. Cannot say enough about the views and proximity to the ocean. Beach house restaurant/ bar next door is a great bonus. Top floor on the corner of the complex—felt incredibly private. Spotted many turtles from the patio. Can’t wait to return!

The listing details truly do not do this property justice. The site is amazing! Sitting out on the deck watching surfers and turtles every time I looked out! The small being next-door is excellent snorkeling and I am an avid snorkeler and diver. The home itself is relatively modest but still very nice. There is easy access to shopping and a few restaurants nearby a couple within walking distance from our resort prices and a short drive for more affordable. I definitely hope to stay at this property again in the future

We loved our stay in this fabulous condo! After an exceptionally difficult year, we decided to splurge on a Hawaii vacation for our family of 5. We were very comfortable in the two bedrooms and air mattress. The air conditioning was welcome - I don’t think we’d have been comfortable without it. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to eat in often. Sitting on the lanai was so pleasant, even if we went out to a restaurant, we brought our food back to the condo. The owners provide snorkeling equipment (great snorkeling beach a short walk away), umbrellas, towels and beach chairs. The location near Poipu Beach was ideal. Parking was free. This property will not disappoint!

We had a wonderful stay in this condo. Amazing views and nice location. We loved that it had beach gear to use-chairs, umbrellas and snorkeling gear & cooler. Close to a lot of amenities-beaches, food, shopping and the gym access was a great bonus. The fridge wasn't working when we arrived, but the staff was very helpful and got a new one in there right away. Overall, it was a great experience and we would happily stay here again if we come back to Kauai.

The unit was situated perfectly with two walls of Ocean views. We probably spent more time in the condo than normally because of the condo location on the ocean. There were always surfers to watch and thousands of parakeets came and went everyday.

This place is amazing--the pictures on VRBO are what you get plus dishes, glassware, etc. were more than adequate--even champagne cooling in the frig! Plenty of nice towels, shampoo/conditioner, spices, coffee--I could go on and on. When I come back to this island it is the only place I would stay.

I have rented several ocean condos on the different islands and this by far beats any on the ocean that I have rented I just wish that when I return to the islands this condo would be on each one! It was updated, clean, a kitchen with everything provided, even had champagne in the refrigerator!

My family (hubby, two teens - 18 & 15 years old, plus myself) spent a week at this condo. The picture is spot on, your right st the beach (4th floor) where you can watch the surf while relaxing on your balcony. It was clean and very convenient to great places to eat, plus a 5 minute walk from a sandy beach for traditional laying out. Great snorkeling. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Much cheaper than staying in a hotel.

This trip was absolutely amazing! #418 played a big role in that! The views from the condo were stunning! We saw sea turtles daily along with the surfers and we even saw whales and dolphins one day! Absolutely amazing! Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was so soothing. The condo was equipped with all that we could ask for!

Overall the spot was excellent. Unfortunately I arrived to an unmade bed, dirty towels, and an unclean condo. The problem was fixed by staff arriving the next morning to clean. I didn't think it was fair to pay for my first night. This vacation rental is expensive and to pay for something I didn't receive was disappointing. Instead I received $75 for the Beach House restaurant. $75 is far from what I paid for that first night. The place was cleaned quickly and not to very high standards. Again, a huge disappointment for what I paid.

We have rented this condo twice and have never been disappointed. The views are amazing, the breeze coming in kept us cool. There is no one walking by the bedroom window because the walkway stops at the front door. It is always clean and the staff very friendly. Snorkeling right out the condo is wonderful, be sure to rent your equipment from Boss Frog right next to the condo. Easy pick up and drop off. Book this condo early as is always gets booked early.

We stayed at #418 for four nights, including New Year's Eve. The home was exactly as described: right on the ocean, with the sound of crashing waves every day, and a view from every window. (and the house is full of windows!) We thought we'd miss air conditioning, but with the ocean breezes and good shades for daytime sun, we were comfortable. They also provided fans and every room has a ceiling fan. There were plenty of tables and seats on the patio so that you can enjoy the view. There was a great snorkeling area just steps away from the house as well as the Beach House restaurant next door which had great views, good food, but was quite expensive. There were strip malls nearby with gift shops, restaurants, ice cream, etc. and a Longs Drug was close by as well. We drove to nearby Poipu Beach for the fireworks on New Years Eve. We also spent the day there swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. It was a safe family beach with a lifeguard. There was even a Monk Seal on the beach while we were there. The beds and bathrooms were great. There was plenty of beach gear in the closet for our use. Overall, the home fit our needs very well and the sound of the ocean put us to sleep at night. Sometimes, it was almost too loud and we would have to shut the windows. Especially with the morning bird noise. However, you do not go to Hawaii to lay in bed and sleep late. There is too much to see and do.

We stay at a lot of vacation rentals. This one was very well equipped. Nice having all of the beach toys. The bottle of champagne was a nice touch. Good corner unit offering expansive views. All of the dishes, glassware, silverware - matched. Many other places look as if they bought this and that at swap meets. Good wireless internet. Good instructions and received them way in advance. We would return.
