Our family enjoyed 6 wonderful nights in June. The house is beautiful and the views are magnificent. The location is perfect for walking to town or to the beach. Our daughters really loved the tidal pools in the backyard. We would highly recommend this house and hope to return. Thank you!

This property was amazing. We can't imaging a better view and enjoyed all of the amenities. After needing to re-locate our vacation due to the Lahaina fires, it was nice to just stay at the property and relax.

We had a great stay at this home. Perfect location that's right on the water, but also within walking distance of several restaurants and stores. Our 4yo daughter loved the keiki beach that's just a short walk south along the community rock wall. House was clean and exceptionally well-stocked. Thank you for allowing us to stay!

We were thoroughly impressed with the home, the property, the views, the cleanliness, decor details, etc. The home is beautiful and you can tell a lot of care went into making it this way! The beach on the property was heavenly for the kids and gorgeous to enjoy for adults too. Pool was a nice treat. Crows nest and sunsets... oh goodness, incredible! The coast views and the sound of the waves was amazing. The owner was very responsive and helpful! We appreciated the beach equipment in the garage. The kitchen had everything you could ask for plus some! Beds are very comfy and AC in the rooms is really nice. Our group was 5 adults and 3 kids (11, 7). Everyone had plenty of room and entertainment. This stay will be a lifetime memory for sure! Mahalo!

Just a great place in a great spot. Great pool / deck / grand room. Great views from all over and amazing from the pool table / wet-bar 3rd floor. Obviously been a STR for a while a lot of the notes and equipment (surround sound equipment) is very dated everything still works but just be aware its not a new home. I few minor tweaks / updates and this home would seem like new. Don't be put off by these minor things this house is amazing just be aware of them. Main areas don't have AC but bedrooms do and it works great. Garage has many things you will need as well as kitchen very well stocked so skip the seasonings trip to the store!

It’s a wonderful home on the shore just north of downtown Kona. The location is ideal to go explore the big island. I highly recommend the home and the hosts were awesome.

One of a kind home - so perfectly placed by the ocean. Loved this home; it was well stocked and gave us ample space to spread out and still be together. Owners are great. Mahalo.

Our family of four adults had a wonderful stay in this lovely, well stocked, well equipped oceanfront home. Outstanding panoramic views from crows nest, our favorite hangout spot, and the master! There’s a seaside trail connecting this home the Old Airport Beach (sunset views, rocky coast, public facilities) with Big Island Yoga classes and garden fitness trail. The other direction leads to a small protected beach to take a dip or view small tropical fish (no mask needed). Although not busy, be aware people walk on the rock wall a foot from the pool fence and that puts you at eye level with passers by on the first floor living room. We didn’t mind and felt very safe as the area has security cameras and is patrolled. We did have some little maintenance issues (the clothing line fell and a towel holder came apart during our stay), but they were fixed the next day. We’d definitely consider returning to this home for our next Big Island visit.

Our family had a fantastic stay at the Kona Sunset House. Right on the water with incredible wave viewing and an amazing sunset. Super close to old Kona, shopping and restaurants. Third floor open area with pool table was a hit with the kids. Pool was fantastic. Couldn't ask for more with the house amenities. We did a bunch of scuba diving at the harbor which was about ten minutes away. The night Manta Ray dive / snorkel is a must do. One of my best dives ever. Thanks so much for the fantastic memories!

This was mine and my wife’s first visit to the big Island and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful and comfortable home to stay at. From the spectacular ocean views from every room, to the huge kitchen and living room, the large comfortable bedrooms, to the perfect sized pool to lounge in. The Kona bay estates where the home is located is private and quiet and has security folks patrolling the area. We always felt safe there, and always looked forward to leaving the bustling crowded downtown and returning to this amazing home. There are bikes, water toys, puzzles and games, as well as TVs in every room. The 3rd floor open air crows nest with pool table was perfect for having a cocktail and watching the sunsets. The owners were great and the property manager responded immediately when we had a question, We will definitely be back. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful home.

Girls trip with my sister and two nieces (celebrating my niece being in remission from AML Leukemia). The view is amazing as soon as you open the door. We enjoyed the walking path right behind the house that leads to the beach and the swimming pool every day. It was great that every bedroom had an air conditioning unit to use at night if we needed it. The house was a short drive to the shops in Kona and the grocery store. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. It was a vacation full of amazing memories.

We had a wonderful stay here in May/June 2022. The house has unbelievable ocean views—the pictures (which look great) still fail to do justice to how great the view is. Also incredibly easy and quick to get to old town Kona. Also close to a park with an indoor basketball court (which was awesome with our 9 year old who loves to play). During our stay, the surf got into the pool. It only happens a couple times a year when the conditions are just right. It was an amazing spectacle to behold! The homeowners and maintenance crew were very responsive and helpful during this event, which we consider ourselves lucky to experience. An amazing house and location, and we will be back for sure! This is our 3rd time here in Kona and at this amazing vacation home. It was so great to be back here and spend over a week with our family. Once again this home was perfect for us and we enjoyed many sunsets in the crows nest while the playing pool. Thank you to the Moore family for once again opening your home to us! We can’t wait to return! Mahalo The Larsen Family

The great room and open wall of windows made this property a five star. Well stocked kitchen. Spacious rooms. Close to shopping and airport. Don’t miss the sunsets, they are a show stopper.

We had a lovely stay celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with our four grown children. Our early mornings were spent inspecting tidal pools along the volcanic rocks directly behind the house. We ended each day toasting the sunset in the crow’s nest, maybe our favorite spot in this beautiful home. It is spacious, comfortable and is decorated with beautiful artwork. Our favorite Kona restaurants and shopping were all within a few miles of the house. Truly, a wonderful experience overall.

I can’t tell you how impressed and breathtaking this Kona home was for my boyfriend and I when we arrived for my mom’s Celebration of Life service. The home was actually so much better than the pictures and was well stocked with excellent instructions in the Kona Sunset binder. Thanks to Jennifer and Makayla for providing clear notes and available if needed. We still feel the trade winds and visions of beautiful ocean with waves crashing on the lava rocks. Mahalo nui loa!

This was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable places we have ever stayed!! The house is beautiful and so well stocked with all the cooking and serving utensils we could imagine needing! The spice selection was great and it was so nice that there were condiments, oils, and vinegar available along with some sun screen and first aid supplies. We used the surfboards, cooler, and beach chairs. The pool was lovely and the crows nest with pool table was fantastic! We didn't need the AC in any rooms except the back bedroom because the ocean breeze was so nice. The location is fantastic! Out of the traffic of Kona, but close enough to be there in minutes. The owner, Jennifer, was so helpful and responsive! We definitely felt like her guests. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay here again when we return to the Big Island!

The view of the beach is to kill for and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was completely furnished with everything we needed. The bathrooms were gorgeous, with premium showers and the jacuzzi in the master bedroom was wonderful. Our whole experience staying here was amazing. We’ll be back!

We were lucky enough to have enjoyed a week at this beautiful island getaway. The pictures don't do this home justice! The owners spared no expense in decorating their amazing oceanfront home. Everything from top-of-the-line custom kitchen appliances to luxurious bed linens - no detail was overlooked! The house was spacious enough to accomodate our family of 6 comfortably and they even had a couple of air mattresses for us to use. My husband and I would sit on the patio and watch our kids picking through the rocks during low tide - lots of little hermit crabs and critters for them to enjoy! Walking distance to downtown Kona and just a short 10 minute drive to Costco. We especially appreciated the privacy and security this gated community offered. There is 24-hour surveillance and the guards actually walk the grounds several times a day. Thank you again Jennifer for such a memorable stay!

July 2011
We stayed at Ken & Jennifer's place for 5 nights at the beginning of July, and wondered if it would look anything like its photos - sometimes you wonder just how the owner got the place to look so good when you arrive. Thankfully though, no nasty surprises this time - this house was simply fabulous, and if anything the photos don't make it look as good as it really is! The floor to ceiling windows can all be retracted, so you really get the sense of being outside, and most have fly screens so you don't have to worry about mosquitoes and the like, if you get easily bitten, like me. The living room is very spacious with more than enough space for all of you to sit down - again not always a guarantee. The kitchen was very well-appointed, again with plenty of dining space. And the fact that some essentials had been left for us to use was also very nice, so we didn't have to worry about buying coffee etc the moment we arrived. The pool is lovely - brilliant size for our family of 4 to play in - and we managed to find some string to fashion a volleyball net, which we fastened to the fence on one side and to a stack of chairs on the other. But by far the very best part of the house was the crow's nest - nice and high up so it got more of a breeze, shaded for most of the day and with enough room for the men to play snooker while the girls did yoga. The only downsides I can think of are that the sea close by the house is a little rough for timid sea swimmers like us, although there was a very large rock pool that the not so brave could swim in - this was about 10 mins walk from the house, so quite do-able even in the heat of the day. Weather-wise, it seemed very clear and sunny every morning, but clouded over each afternoon, and while the sun didn't always shine, it at least meant we could more easily stay outside without worrying about sunburn too much. I would very happily recommend this house to anyone who wants a peaceful base from which to explore Big Island area. And it is only steps away from the beach and sea. While staying here, we did make the journey to Mauna Kea (about 2 hours, sometimes on very narrow roads) to see the stars at night, and also to the petroglyphs on the N-west coast. Ken & Jennifer were very good at answering any questions we had, and had made excellent arrangements with a local guy to act as caretaker in their absence. An excellent place to stay and I'm only sorry that we could not stay for longer.

Simply stunning. As I write this I am at the Hilton in Waikiki, and I can say that I am already missing Ken and Jennifer's home in Kailya-Kona. The views are breath-taking, the open living room was wonderful, and the whole experience was almost perfect. To top it off we were the first to enjoy the new pool, which was great to jump in after snorkeling in the ocean behind the house.. Or after a long day of touring or fishing. If you haven't been to the big island, I encourage you to take advantage of this piece if heaven and visit. I was almost tempted to give a luke-warm review just to keep this a secret, but the truth is this was truly a memorable holiday and a memorable home. The gated neighborhood also made us feel very secure and security walked through the neighborhood regularly. Bedroom views were a wonder every morning, and while there is air conditioning, we never used it with the ocean breezes cooling the home each evening. Five stars for this home - were that our experience in Oahu was half as nice (had to abandon North Shore beach house after three days to seek refuge in a hotel.

During September 2010 I spent three glorious weeks at this Kona Bay home with two friends. It was everything we hoped for. When inside we felt we were outside because of the floor to ceiling retractable windows with large patios overlooking the Pacific ocean.on all floors! The very modern high tech kitchen with beautiful granite was a temptation to keep on cooking but we opted several times to take the five minute car ride (20 minute walk) to several quaint eateries in the Kona Village. The second floor is all bedrooms and bathrooms each providing great privacy. The breathtaking views of the moonlight on the waves while laying in bed being lulled by the breaking waves makes it a most romantic setting. All bedrooms have their own patio where you can sit and watch the dolphins play or just listen to the wonderful birds sing.. The third level "crows nest" is the place you want to be for whale watching! Every night there is a different sunset to be enjoyed over a glass of wine if that is your fancy. About a 5 minute walk down the sea wall is an area of calm oceanponds (fabulous play spot for kids). Note the owner's comments on community activites all within a 3 minute walk....lap pools, tennis courts, roller blade rink, baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, etc. The serenity and location is unbeatable. A small secure upscale neighborhood you never want to leave.
