Our stay at this house was nearly flawless. It is kept up beautifully and the kitchen has anything you could possibly need. We enjoyed the pool in the backyard which is so nice if you don't want to be in a hotel pool. The bedrooms are quite spacious as are the bathrooms. They provided laundry detergent and a great washer/dryer set up. There were plenty of extra towels in the linen closet if needed as well as plenty of toilet paper, not just a "starter" amount and the quality was very good. The master bedroom has a desk and printer which can be used if you need it. There was even paper for the printer. I give this house a 10 rating with two suggestions. One - put clocks in the bedrooms on the nightstand Two - there is no full length mirror and for short people you cannot see much of yourself when dressing. Minor details, just suggestions. Thank you for opening up your beautiful home.

The property manager was very responsive to our questions. The home, pool and yard are beautiful. Our family enjoyed the pool and spa, kitchen and outdoor BBQ, multiple gathering spaces, views from the lanai, and the spectacular Mauna Kea Resort Beach and beach bar. We plan to visit again!

This is our third time staying at Richard’s place and it never disappoints. We love the beautiful surroundings and we always enjoy the high end amenities of this spectacular villa and the Mauna Kea resort. We will definitely be back.

I am leery of vrbos because I am picky and we have had a few bad experiences. This house was great. It had everything we needed. It was clean and had a great set up with 3 bedrooms with attached baths. The pool was great and the hot tub warmed quickly when we wanted to use it. The outdoor lanai was great and we loved the sliding doors to the kitchen/dining space. The kitchen had every utensil or appliance we could have wanted. Great location. We loved using the beach club pass to access the beaches and pools. We spent 6 nights and left to spend three nights on the east side. I wish we would have just booked all our nights here and made the drive.

The description is accurate, but as important - the house was very well stocked. Actual sharp knives and nonstick pans in a rental? Heck yes. We plan to come back to the big island, and when we do, this house will be our first choice.

We had a very enjoyable time here and would recommend this place to anyone with a large/extended family or up to 3 couples. The setting is beautiful and the home is furnished with just about anything you would need to enjoy your stay. It is a short drive to either Mauna Kea or Hapuna beach but beware the parking can be challenging unless you get there early. The backyard is beautiful and well furnished with a pool/spa and BBQ/kitchen. We spent a lot of time there. There is also a nice community pool and lounging area nearby. We didn't elect to buy the Mauna Kea amenity package and were glad we didn't. The hotel and beach setting is superb but the hotel is starting a very extensive remodeling until 2025. I would check out first before deciding on this. All and all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this place for a larger group.

Wonderful house, terrific kitchen, great view! Our recent stay at this very comfortable Wai'ula'ula villa was a return visit. We love the house and location so much we have already booked for next year! That pretty much summarizes our experience!

The house was great, and we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking in, which we did a lot of as we have young kids. The pool and jaccuzi were great as we spent a day at the house rather than going to the beach. Overall we would recommend this house, and would stay here again. Thank you!

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at this well stocked and comfortable home. We appreciated that each bedroom had its own bathroom and there was an additional half bath. We used the concierge service to help rent all the items we needed for our baby- so helpful to have it all there on arrival! Easy communication with owner/host.

The online villa pictures are amazing, but wait until you walk in the door. Our family group of 9 (6 adults & 3 young kids) loved it! The beds were comfortable, and every bedroom has walk-in closets, so you don’t have to live out of a suitcase. We loved sitting on the lanai with views over the golf course (and goats!) and to the ocean beyond. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, dishes & glassware. Most daily living supplies are already there, so just buy your food! The washing machine is oversized (soap provided), so there’s no need to overpack. In the garage you’ll find lots of beach essentials. Sign up for the Resort Amenity Pass—worth it--$165/day total for all. Easy parking and no need for your wallet. We just took phone photos of the receipts we signed. If you check your credit card online, the charges are “bundled” by the day, so it was easier to verify with those receipt photos. Our family used the amenities--pools, chairs & towels, golf, tennis, spa massages, and the Kid’s Club (the 7-year-old used it twice). It was $75 for a half day with crafts, games, time at the pool and tidepools. There is also a covered games area just behind the pool at the Mauna Kea with pool tables, a putting green, table shuffleboard, and face painting or temporary tattoos every afternoon (no charge). Rick, the owner, and Lisette, the local manager, were both very helpful. It was the perfect place for the whole family to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary!

We have stayed in many, many VRBO houses over the years in Hawaii and elsewhere and this property ranks at the top. It was clean and well stocked, maybe the most well stocked house we’ve ever rented. Think sponges, foil, plastic wrap, ziploc bags, trash bags, keurig coffee pods, spices, detergent, soap, Kleenex, on and on. We easily saved a couple hundred dollars in all those items that we normally have to buy and leave behind at other properties. The couple small issues we had were IMMEDIATELY dealt with via the house rep there on the big island who was readily available via text. We will happily be back to this house and highly recommend it for others!

We love the location because we have stayed in this area before. Our family used the club gym which was walkable from where we stayed (I used the hotel gym which was much more crowded). We had some issues with getting the spa warm; we followed the instructions but Lissette got us some help and problem resolved. I know other guests commented on the pool size but for a family of 5, it was fine for us. The kitchen/family room area was huge so we had plenty of space to spread out. Bedrooms were all roomy and well appointed. Lissette was very responsive whenever we had any issues or questions so we really appreciated that. We would definitely stay here again!

The place was fantastic. The en-suite bedrooms, closets and bathrooms are large and beautifully appointed. There were very nice amenities supplied such as shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Very nice hangers in the closets and bathrobes. Cotton balls and Q-tips. The kitchen was very well stocked and supplied with spices, coffee pods, and all sorts of cooking equipment. The great room area was beautiful, the lani area spacious and beautifully appointed. All the furnishings were extremely nice. The property has a small pool and hot tub and the complex also has a pool. The views are incredible. We signed up for the Mauna Kai club which my family enjoyed very much. The place is very well set up for families or couples. It has beach chairs, beach towels and a huge array of beach toys. Both the owner and the property manager were very responsive and helpful. They provided a book with information about the property, area activities and restaurants. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Large house in a gated community. Everything we needed was there except beach. Take the optional access to Mauna Kea that gives you parking and access to Mauna Kea and westin hotels and parking. They can’t limit public beach access but they can do the same thing while for instance limiting public parking to 40 spaces. Unless you have a membership that effectively limits public access. The family had an excellent experience with the house and the resort. Grahame Freeland

We had a wonderful time with our 10 year old at this well appointed and beautiful home. Only recommendation is to provide a map in advance so it is easier to find at night as the directions were sparse. Otherwise we think it is a gem of a place and highly recommend to anyone who wants a private and quiet place with beautiful views of the mountains and sea close to the beach! Thank you so much for sharing your home! Aloha nui loa.

Excellent house, excellent host, excellent property manager! We thoroughly enjoyed all the beach/water toys, the spacious lanai, lovely pool and outdoor shower, and the ability to open the house entirely to the outdoors. Very well furnished and provisioned property. Top shelf kitchen. Roomy, in suite bathrooms. Maybe better suited for 6 adults, plus a child or two versus the advertised 9 or 10. No issues. One of the best VRBO properties we’ve stayed in.

August 2022
Richard and Connie's lovely home was perfect for our family. We had plenty of room for our party of 8 and loved the convenience of having our own pool and lounge area at the end of a day at the beach. The sunsets from the outdoor terrace were absolutely breathtaking. The house is very well appointed in every aspect - a fully-equipped kitchen, plenty of linens, pool towels, games, etc. The property manager was very responsive and they were able to make special accommodations for our stay. We really recommend this property and will stay here again on our next visit to the Big Island!

July 2022
This home is wonderful. It is in a beautiful gated community with splendid views. It is well stocked and the owner and manager were very responsive. We particularly enjoyed the access to the Westin and Mauna Kea resorts and beach. It costs extra but the privilege is well worth the expense. If you are thinking of a relaxing stay on the west coast of the Big Island, look no further!

July 2022
Our two sons and their families stayed here for a week while we celebrated our 50th anniversary, as we had rented a home nearby. The home is nicely decorated and the kitchen very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We thoroughly enjoyed the lanai area and loved the gorgeous sunsets seen from the yard. Having a membership to the Mauna Kea Resort and the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort made our stay complete. We enjoyed the golf, easy access to the beaches for snorkeling, and the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort pool was a big hit! Richard was so pleasant to work with and we found Lisette very helpful during our stay. We are grateful to both for making this vacation so special, and we would most definitely stay here again if on the Big Island!

June 2022
This house was amazing and was a huge splurge for our family, but so happy that we did. We initially had issues with the Sub-Zero refrigerator not getting cold, but the homeowner immediately addressed this and sent out a service person to check and fix the issue. Every room is nicely furnished, and very comfortable to lounge on. I got a good nights rest on their spacious, comfortable beds. The outdoor pool is small, but nice for a quick dip. If you are looking for a nice stay and great location, this is the one! Note: recommend going to Beach 69 (5-10 minutes away), for a sandy beach access.

June 2022
We loved this villa - perfect size and layout for two couples and 3 teenaged kids. The private pool was a nice bonus. Being able to use the Mauna Kea and Westin facilities for a reasonable daily fee was huge - we spent most of our time on the beach taking advantage of paddle boards, beach chairs. We also hit the gym, took beachside yoga classes and played pickle ball in the tennis facility. The kitchen in the villa was incredible well stocked for cooking meals. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back.

June 2022
Everything was as pictured. The garage is stocked with toys. The kitchen has everything you could ever want or need including a complete collection of condiments and spices. Rick was very responsive and friendly. We recommend doing the Mauna Kea/Hapuna guest registration for easy access to the beach and parking as well as hotel guest rates for golf. We would love to come back.

This is a fantastic property which I highly recommend. Very private, excellent views, beautifully designed and well-appointed inside and out. The massive sliding glass doors that open the inside of the home out to the Lanai are a wonderful feature.

We were in Hawaii for a three-generation family vacation and we couldn't have asked for a better place for our home for the week! We've rented a number of vacation homes on the Kohala coast over the years and this one sits at the top of the list in terms of comfort, amenities, beach toys and general overall appeal. The kitchen alone was the best equipped rental kitchen I have ever seen, in terms of pots, pans, dishes, serving ware as well as condiments and seasonings! Just wish we had checked out the home BEFORE we stopped at Foodland and bought duplicates of a lot of things. The home owner and the property manager were easy to work with ahead of time and check-in and check-out couldn't have been easier. I highly recommend this lovely home. I tried to reserve it for next year, but it was unfortunately already rented for the dates we wanted!

The property was everything and more. My wife had to make me leave the residence to view to island. I implore vacationers to rent this property.

April 2022
This home was perfect for our family vacation to the big island! It's very well equipped and spacious. The entire process was seamless from check in to check out. We loved the large wall that opened up to the patio, the pool/spa, BBQ and being able to access both resorts and beaches. Would highly recommend and will definitely book again!

March 2022
The Mauna Kea residences are superb. The houses afford families plenty of space to spread out, relax, and enjoy time together. Yet, they are just minutes, walk or drive, from both the Hapuna and Mauna Kea where they can enjoy world class beaches and services. Our family has been coming to the Mauna Kea since 2001, the residences were a natural progression as the family as grown to include fiances and spouses. Richard's property was all it was advertised to be.

Short drive to Mona Kea and the beach, just a few minutes. We ended up a smaller group but would be great for a family.

January 2022
This is a beautiful home on the Mauna Kea property, with its own private pool and spa. This home has every beach amenity and home amenity you can need. Seven adults in our family sprawled out over this home and enjoyed the beaches, pools, golf and restaurants of the Hapuna and Mauna Kea. We waited two years for this trip and it was well worth the wait. Thank you so much for sharing your gem with our family. There is not one thing I would change.

December 2021
We had a wonderful time here - we have rented many homes in the area and this was one of our best experiences. The house was very well supplied both for cooking and beach activities. Access to the garage was another big plus for us. We also greatly appreciated being able to contact Lisette, the house manager, who made sure that our stay went as smoothly as possible. Overall a wonderful stay and we hope to come back!

December 2021
This is a lovely house, with powerful views of the 4 mountains...simply rare and wonderful. Well-appointed kitchen, etc. Rick, the owner, is extremely assiduous and seems like a genuinely thoughtful, kind person. We scheduled to meet the property manager Lisette in person, to check-in. She rescheduled at the last minute and left the house open, which worked for us, but not what Rick seemed to want. We didn't meet her until check-out. (Phone messages were unreturned, resulting in quite a lot of chaos.) Art connected to "the elementals" (fire, water) were in precisely the incorrect positions, bringing a problematic energy to the house. (When I complimented the kitchen, Rick said the decor was "all Lissette".) Wai'ula'ula duplexes have a outside walled-off machine area, containing A/C and pool equipment, adjacent to one of the bedrooms. We discovered that the only way to get real peace in the bedroom was to flip the pool breakers off. In a note, the pool guy wanted them on all the time. In a note, Glen asked if we could chat. Silence. We asked Rick to leave the pool off and we'd pay to have it serviced or refilled on our departure. He said the pool guy was adjusting the hours of the pool, which didn't address things adequately. The pool guy padlocked the breaker box, (very un-”islandy”.) We felt its vibrations and saw the lock, so we waited next to his truck to talk to him outside a neighboring house. He saw us and called the Wai'ula'ula manager John for security backup (!!). After a lot of manager-speak, we agreed on a proposed schedule that was later disregarded, creating tumult. Rick agreed at this late point (last week of our stay) to accept our offer. No one showed up as planned one day. Calling the head of the pool company, he said no work would happen before check out. Not to be. The pool guy and John showed up (with no curtains, remember!) before 8 AM. We weren't fully dressed. I encountered Lissette while in the kitchen; she entered and said, very emphatically, negatively, "what a MESS!". Yes, I hadn't buffed and shined the counters back to their original state; the cleaners were going to do that anyway. It didn't warrant her outburst. Although it's a nice house with a very nice owner, in our experience, I can't recommend this rental given the current management company "Home Chex". (The management company for the house down the street, Kona Coast Vacation Rentals, was highly professional.) --Claire

This house truly made our trip! The central living area is so big and open. The kitchen was huge and had everything you needed to cook and serve. The bedrooms are great, especially for 3 families who needed 3 masters. The outside shower was wonderful, whether we were showering off after the pool/beach or just needed to shower. The owner and concierge were great will all our needs and so quick to respond with any questions. And I highly advise getting the resort pass. It was so great having the privacy of the house but all the perks of TWO resorts. Whenever we make it back to the Big Island, we will reserve this house again!

We had an amazing stay at this property!! The house is top notch, nice to relax by your own pool, and then have access to the hotel when you want a change of scenery down at Hapuna Beach. Highly recommend this property as it is very well kept, and the communication was second to none!!

We booked this trip during the Covid winter surge hoping we could travel! This house was even better then advertised! Three big bedrooms in separate wings; gorgeous gourmet kitchen and lovely patio with an ocean and golf course view! The patio has a small pool and spa and a Wolf BBQ! Our host was proactive and gracious; the property manager very responsive! I would highly recommend this home and the experience!

June 2021
We had the most amazing time in Hawaii and Richard’s home exceeded our expectations!! We’ve stayed at the Mauna Kea resort several times and this was our first time renting a home with the daily resort access pass. It couldn’t have been better! We traveled with 2 families, 5 kids under the age of 7 and this home was absolutely perfect for us, and having a car with the daily resort/parking pass was seamless. The pictures don’t do the home justice! It is large, welcoming, clean and well appointed all around— the kitchen has everything you could possibly need, there are toys, boogie boards, snorkel gear, etc. with laundry and plenty of linens. The spacious outdoor/lanai area was perfect for the mornings and evenings we spent at home... The pool is on the smaller side but the kids didn’t mind! Lissette the manager was there early to unpack our Foodland groceries and get the AC going. We only wish we had stayed longer. 10 out of 10!!

Our family stayed in this beautiful condo over the holiday. Except for a couple of day excursions, we stayed in the unit and enjoyed its serenity, ambiance and quality time with the family. The unit was very clean, well maintained, comfortable and incredibly well stocked-my son, the chef did not lack for anything to be able to provide delicious meals which we enjoyed in the outdoor patio. The owner was very attentive and easy to communicate with and so was the site manager. I will highly recommend this condo to my friends and we look forward to our next stay very soon.

November 2016
We rented this beautiful house as a place to visit with our daughter in nearby boarding school. Such a better place to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii than getting overpriced adjoining rooms in a hotel. We especially enjoyed living with all the sliding glass doors and windows open hearing the trees blowing in the wind and the luscious raindrops on the patio. It is a perfect indoor-outdoor living experience with a top-notch kitchen. All of the bedrooms are comfortable and furnished to the top level of excellence. It is a great community and having access to the local resorts for their beaches is just perfect. We walked several times down to the resorts for exercise. We preferred Mauna Kea's beach but Hapuna Prince was also great. When we had one small issue with the air conditioning on arrival, the management team was already handling it and saw it through expediently and without any hesitation. We were very pleased with the service, home and place. We expect to come back.

This is the type of home you would stay in if your friends owned it and let you vist them or use it. Besides the obvious of the location and the incredible views the home is fabulous in every way, gorgeous, comfortable, and stocked with everything imaginable. Our family is a huge fan of the Mauna Kea Resort and did not imagine ourselves hanging around the home much, but we did. I can't say enough good things about this home. Richard, thank you for sharing your home with us, and thank you for the ease in which we were able to rent it. Aloha!

From the moment you walk into this beautiful villa, you will feel right at home. It is very clean, spacious and has beautiful Hawaiian decor throughout. The gourmet kitchen is completely stocked with everything needed for cooking (including a gas top stove...rare for the Islands). There are enough dishes, wine glasses, and silverware to serve 2 large families and there is a really nice wine refrigerator. The living room area is very comfortable with a huge flat screen tv. The pocket doors make this villa a tropical getaway but what is nice is that you can also slide out screen doors and let the Hawaiian breeze flow into the living area. The patio has two distinct areas to it. In one area, you have the pool and jacuzzi (which we enjoyed every evening) while gazing at the spectacular golf and mountain views. The other area has a high end bbq, table and chairs and displays a beautiful ocean view where we watched the sunset every night. We cooked and ate at the villa almost every evening because honestly, you can't beat the view and the ambiance. The bedrooms were very well appointed with things you wouldn't expect in a regular vacation rental (like lots of nice hangers in each closet). The outdoor shower was awesome and offers complete privacy. The laundry room is equipped with everything you need to do laundry and the having a garage to keep the car out of the sun was great. The owner also has lots of boogie boards and snorkel equipment so no need to rent those. We paid the resort fee to use the Mauna Kea and Hapuna (We only used the Mauna Kea because it's beach is spectacular). This also gave us a discount on golf for both courses. Having access to parking and all the amenties of the Mauna Kea and Hapuna made the resort fee well worth the cost. I almost felt sorry for the guest of the hotel. Booking 2 rooms at the Mauna Kea cost almost as much as this villa and we got to ejoy all the same amenities they do AND have more space and privacy when we wanted it. The owner, Richard, was great to work with. Very responsive and willing to do whatever it takes to make your stay exceptional. This is an amazing villa that will provide memories to last a lifetime.

The home was beautiful and very spacious and very comfortably fit our family of 6. Everything was top of the line! The kitchen was very well equipped and the property was neat and very clean. We were greeted very friendly by Lisette upon our arrival and she helped us get settled and gave us some good dining suggestions. Thank you for letting us use your home for our vacation. Our only disappointment was that we had 2 medical emergencies during our stay and the Mauna Kea Beach Club would not allow us to cancel our beach club access. It would be best if this access was a per day charge, as additionally, when you are going on excursions, the $65 per day simply goes to waste. We only used it the first two days, but had to pay for all 7 days. This is not the property owners fault, as the Mauna Kea Beach Club is a separate company, but before deciding to purchase the beach club access for your trip, be certain you will be able to utilize it enough as the management for the beach club is not flexible. Again, not the home owner's fault and the home is beautiful and we would stay again!

This home was perfect for our group. The kitchen was huge and had everything we needed to make meals. It was a true gourmand's delight! The beds and pillows were the most comfortable I've ever slept in while traveling (and I have stayed in many villas and luxury hotels). Waking up refreshed to the views of Mauna Kea and the ocean was one of the highlights of the trip. My kids loved the pool and the adults loved the hot tub. We had every amenity we needed for play at the beach. Every aspect of the home was well thought out. We purchased the daily Mauna Kea amenity Package, which gave us towels, chairs, cabanas, and access to two of the best beaches on the Kohala coast. So close to Waimea and Kawaihae, and not far from Mana Lani. My husband competed in the Ironman 70.3 and this home was most convenient to all the festivities. Will stay in this home again. Thanks for sharing your home with us, Richard.

My family (4 young adults, my husband and myself) spent five glorious days at this beautiful home on the Big Island. It feels like a real home; clean, well maintained and very well appointed. It has three large bedrooms with lots of privacy for everyone and large common areas both in and outdoors. There is not one thing that I can think of that was missing. There are so many things I loved about it but the outdoor shower off the master bathroom might have to be my favourite! It looks as good or better than the photos. It is set in the hills above the Prince and Mauna Kea Resort. Because the homeowner is a member of the resorts you can pay a small fee for a temporary membership and use all the resort amenities which I highly recommend. The one thing you will need is a car because you will need to drive across the road to the resort and beach which is beautiful. This was not a problem at all for us. Finally the Big Island has 13 climate zones. This house is situated in an area of very low precipitation so you will get sunny skies and good weather. We loved it!

We took our two college age daughters to this house. They each enjoyed their own private suite which was an awesome spring break for them. The private splash pool and outdoor living space were so great, we didn't even use the resort privileges that were available. Hapuna Beach Park is a short drive and we went there one day. The house had everything imaginable for the beach-chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, coolers. The kitchen was fully stocked. We used the grill a couple of nights and ate breakfast at the house everyday. It was a great family trip, and quite luxurious. The owner and his on-site staff were very attentive. I sent an email to the owner, Richard, when we first arrived on the Sunday, and he responded back immediately. We would definitely rent this villa again.
