Location of this property was Amazing. Furniture and bathroom are a bit dated but well with in acceptable accommodations. The Lagoon next to the property claims to be private property of the hotel but were available for use to use. Bring your aqua socks, lava and coral will cut your feet .

Great location, easy to get to everything at the Kona waterfront. Could sit on lanai and listen to surf while watching fish jump in the ocean. On Sunday they had an ocean swim with hundreds of swimmers right in front of the unit. Was awesome to watch.

The Accommodation was great, comfortable and we were able to check in slightly earlier as we had flown in earlier, the only setback was no garbage bag liners for the bin in the kitchen, but that's minor, the only weird thing is the parking allocations, they can be opposite ends of the building from the accommodation like ours was, ours was being used by tradesmen, so was able to use another space, but it was a little puzzling. The Lagoon next to to accommodation was great for spotting fish, and we did see a lone turtle in there too, plenty of the yellow fish you can see from the balcony as well as turtles on our second to last day. Good Food options Close and shopping. Will come back again in the future

We loved our stay at Hale Kona Kai. It's a small property that never felt crowded. The only noise was the sound of the ocean. The location couldn't be better. It's a short walk to our favorite restaurants (and coffee shop) in Kailua. It's also literally, right on the ocean. The ocean below was full of colorful fish, the view was expansive and the sunsets were incredible. The pool was newly refurbished and wonderful. It's not huge, but it was never crowded and offered a good amount of shade. It was sparkling clean and the perfect temperature.
The less-than-ideal things were that there was no in-room laundry. Each floor has a laundry room, it costs $4 to wash and dry a load. The other was that the office is mostly unattended (open a few hours a day on weekdays) and they can be hard to reach by phone. It didn't cause problems for us, but it might for some. They did give us a very thoughtful gift/momento as an anniversary present which we very much appreciated.
All in all, we loved our stay and would stay there again. The location, view, and pool were perfect.

Highly recommend! Steven was a wonderful host, helping us with numerous suggestions about restaurants and adventures. His apartment is well decorated and appointed so you can cook full meals. Excellent location to downtown Kailua-Kona, 5 minute easy walk to restaurants and shops. We would absolutely go back.

I called and left a message on two occasions, no response from the property management co. One was because we lost power! I finally took it upon myself to find the fuse box and determined which fuse had tripped. The other call was to get a parking permit as required - again, no response.

The view was amazing (when the cruise ships weren’t blocking which was 1 day out of 9) It’s convenient to walk to eat, and souvenir shop The road out front is extremely busy and noisy The beach that you can supposedly walk to is where the homeless sleep (awful odor/safety?) The condo was disgusting.Mold in shower, the a/c had a horrible odor The two doors had holes in them and so much dirt! (I looked at the neighbors theirs were clean) the fan in the bedroom created a wet film over all soft surfaces & smelled musty. Windows hadn’t been washed in ages, fridge missing parts and ice overflowed, patio furniture falling apart along with the roll down screens that are covered in mold and frayed. Bed needed to be replaced years ago instead they put a foam pad over the top (horrible backache) Lamp broken glued back together with missing parts covered in dust. Kitchen light wouldn’t work, got repair guy he never came back and the cover was so gross. Inside cabinets need deep cleaning. Mishmash of kitchen supplies and no spices. Microwave display not working, oven beeps randomly, TV has two red lines running down screen.W/D are not in room, at end of hall $2 ea one broken/rusted. EVERYTHING was old, outdated, not cleaned, smelled and not as described. Pool nice. 10 loungers and 2 umbrellas for entire complex. Oh, and replace the beach towels! Seriously. Management company sent me text after text after text. Quite annoying and redundant. Would not recommend this unit at all

Great place. Best location ever! Gorgeous view of the ocean from the lanaii! Our only complaint is that cold air kept pouring out of a vent in the bedroom that could not be closed regardless of the air-conditioning setting (even "off"), and it froze us. But that glitch was easily ignored due to the fantastic location and amazing view. And the living area did not get freezing cold like the bedroom.

We are handicaped and one uses a cane to get around. The wagon came in very handy to get luggage and necessitys up to the unit.

It was perfect for our week stay, birthday week for my boyfriend!!! It had a great view.
The only thing I would say is it had a mildew smell when you first came in, but once the windows were opened and AC was running it wasn’t as bad. The shower was older and the doors did not slide on the track smoothly, but the water pressure and hot water was AMAZING!!! Overall a fantastic stay for the price!!!

We love this complex as it makes Kailua town totally walkable. While this unit is comparable to others, having the wrap around lanai so beautifully furnished had us sitting out there all day--morning coffee, conversations, reading, and watching the fabulous sunsets!

The location is fantastic. A breakfast nook that is almost right on top of the ocean. Perfect place to watch the beautiful sunsets. The unit included two Tommy Bahama chairs, which came in quite handy. They included a coffee maker and enough coffee for about 3 mornings - Thanks!
Everything in Hawaii is damp due to the extreme humidity. Things also get sandy. For that reason, don't expect the same level of upkeep as the Hilton or Marriott, but overall the unit was clean. You don't go to Kona to sit inside anyway.

My husband and I booked this stay for our babymoon. We've all had disappointing stays that oversell - this isn't one! The view was beautiful, the pool was perfect, spotting fish and sea turtles from the deck. Very clean and was exactly as pictured. Lots of thoughtful touches, beach towels and chairs, coffee and some condiments for our stay. We would absolutely recommend to anyone but for one thing, the comfort of the king bed. It had a much too soft topper on it and made it difficult to sleep at night for my husband and myself. If the mattress was upgraded we would definitely give it a 5 star.

We love this property so much! If you like the sound of crashing waves and endless ocean vistas, this is the place. We found it hard to leave our balcony because of the gorgeous views. On a more practical note, the unit is newly updated and well appointed with all the desired amenities. The AC worked great even though we only needed it a few times during our stay. The property manager was very responsive when we had a question about the microwave. My only suggestion would be to consider a mattress upgrade. We slept fine but the mattress is a bit bouncy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can hardly wait to come back.

This property lived up to it's advertisement on VRBO. The setting right next to the ocean provided the relaxing and soothing sounds and scenes hoped for and then some. The ac units worked well and met our expectations. The master bed was very comfortable and the sofa bed was as good as can be expected from a sofa bed. This is a gem. We will be back. Clean, well maintained, extremely well decorated unit. Everything provided- even complimentary Kona coffee. Beach towels, chairs, and cooler provided. They had boogie boards, but we did not use. Very comfortable king bed with high quality linens. Oceanfront with views of. Reef and beautiful fish. Walk to Honi beach.

This is a great, 4th floor unit at Hale Kona Kai. You feel like you're on the prow of a ship- the sea is right there. We enjoyed watching the yellow tang and honu bob in the surf below as we sipped our morning cuppa on the lanai. The unit itself was clean and had most everything we needed. The local property manager was also a great help when the hubs accidentally locked the keys in the unit. And- we love the location, an easy 5 min walk to the shops and restaurants in town.
