This condo literally sits right on the shore over the rocks. We were able to see the sunrise and sunset from the balcony. Morning coffee and breakfast were spent watching the sea turtles and we were able to see a whale on our last night. The bathrooms appear to newly renovated. The owner communicated well and check in was easy. We did have to call the island contact for one small issue that he immediately responded to and took care of us. We enjoyed our stay.

We have stayed at Makahuena multiple times, first time in this listing. The location within the condo complex is great for small kids. Grassy area to run around, close walk to sunset/sunrise and close proximity to the pool. The management staff was easy to work with and fast at communication. We had a larger party and did not feel cramped within the condo. Makahuena itself is a nice complex to stay in, everyone is always nice and the pool/hot tub are never overcrowded. Plus you have good access to the walking trails, 10 minute walk to the beach or short drive. The only thing we found inconvenient was that there was no place to hang out towels/suits to dry outside. Other than that no complaints, we will be back again!

What a perfect home base for enjoying this magnificent island . We had three couples on this trip , and we had plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is beautiful and extremely well equipped . But you may not want to cook with all the amazing restaurants in nearby Poipu and Lihue . You are a short walk from beautiful Poipu Beach. Great swimming , amazing sunsets , and sea turtles every evening !

We really enjoyed our stay here. Having the bedrooms on separate floors from the living room is a nice feature. The beds were comfortable, and having a half-bath on the main floor was a plus! There are no elevators in this building, and all three bedrooms are upstairs, so be prepared for that. The walking path behind the building offers lovely views. The pool never got too busy, and the hot tub felt great. Everything was clean and well-maintained. We would definitely stay in this property again. We really loved this condo for our recent vacation to Kauai. My husband, our fifteen-year-old daughter, and I were blessed to find this unit after the original one we reserved was under construction. We hit the jackpot because it had all the criteria we were looking for: location, cleanliness, well-stocked, A/C, washer/dryer, pool/hot tub. The bonus was the incredible view--oh, my gosh! The cherry on top was our host, Sophia. We could not have asked for a more responsive, friendly, accommodating host. We will certainly return someday.

As sometimes occurs, we had a couple of issues during our stay. The issues could not have been foreseen, and the property manager handled it perfectly.
We were unable to stay in the condo planned which was fairly upsetting at first. However, the property manager, Michael, responded immediately and was able to have another condo ready for us within 90 mins. We had the choice to take it or not and as fate would have it, this condo was better for our needs than the original one.
We had two other issues which were simply bad luck, but again Michael and his staff were on it immediately. We were able to resolve the issues we had to our complete satisfaction.

Bottom line is we Will be returning to Kauai and when we do, we will chose this property manager. If they'll have us. 😉

We had an absolutely amazing time on Kaua’i . We truly enjoyed our stay in this condo . The unit was very clean and it was a nice quiet place to stay . The pool and hot tub were great ! Every evening we could walk to the waters edge and see beautiful sea turtles. We will definitely be back .

We had a great time in Kauai and the property was very conveniently located and had lots of positives! Couple of minor things that we were able to work through. The entire unit does not have AC but gets a great cross breeze when opening all of the windows. Waking up next to the ocean was AMAZING! And the sunset views on the property were fantastic. This unit really needs a deep clean. The location is great and close to so many great spots on the island. The pool and hot tub are awesome amenities. You'll notice many units are very well maintained, this one, not so much. The windows need a good wash inside and out, to get rid of the residue that will leave red dust on your clothes and skin and hinder the beautiful view. Two of the windows in the master bedroom are missing screens, making them unusable, unless you don't mind chunks of rotted wood, dust, debris, bugs, etc, on your bedding. The unit definitely needs some love, but the location is great. We would just selected a different unit/owner next time for sure. Also, some partiers, pot smokers, and a bit of a domestic disturbance in the parking lot during the week, but I guess it's Hawaii, and vacation, so that's to be expected. There's no air conditioning, so with the windows open, you hear and smell it all.

The area is being developed, so it's not clear how long the views will be nice, but the property is great and while a bit aged (older appliances) the beds were comfortable and the shower was very nice. It's not easy to find a reasonably priced property in Poipu, and this property fits the bill!

The one good thing about this place are the views.
The property manager Michael really stepped up when we asked to be moved into another place, shortly after getting here. We didn’t get the ocean view but had a special house on a golf course and it was beautiful, quiet and peaceful!

It’s hard to go wrong with a stay in Poipu, it never disappoints! The drawbacks to our stay, parking lot construction made parking and exiting the parking lot very difficult. Other than that, everything was great! I really enjoyed the wine, coffee and snacks that were provided. We also utilized the 3 coolers available to use and the snorkeling equipment. There were tons of towels and when we needed more, it was great to be able to wash them up in the washer and dryer. Thanks for a wonderful and memorable stay in your unit!

Overall the unit was as advertised and provided our family of 5 lots of space. We loved having all of the beach items that came with the rental (snorkel gear, boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, umbrella...)! The kitchen was fully stocked and also kid friendly with plastic cups, plates, bowls. We had one question about where to find parking passes and owners responded instantly to our text and also email during our stay to ensure everything was going well. Location is also great with a short drive to Poipu Beach, hiking trails along the beach, and lots of restaurant options with 5-10 minute drive.

The condo looked exactly like the pictures online. It was spotless! It had so many amenities…especially if you have young children (we did not). There are plenty of beach toys, and towels. Also extremely roomy. There’s a beautiful pool and hiking trails nearby. The owners were very responsive! We really enjoyed our stay and time in Kauai. I would definitely stay again!

We loved Kauai and everything there is to explore on such a beautiful island! The location of the condo is great and we enjoyed the spectacular view from the patio. Pros- The condo is located an easy distance to everything you would want to do on the South Shore, beaches, restaurants, shops and activities. There are chairs, umbrellas, snorkels and masks and boogie boards that make your beach trips easy and comfortable. You can walk to many beaches and restaurants. The check-in was smooth, we arrived 30 min early and we able to get right in. The instructions and relevant information was easily accessible. The kitchen had everything you would need for meals at home. Cons- When we arrived we were excited to go out to the patio and enjoy the view, what we didn't expect was to find all the tables and chairs filthy. There was so much dirt that we spent the next hour cleaning so we could sit down. I understand that the winds tends to blow red dirt everywhere I would however, expect that everything would be clean to start our stay. As requested we took off our shoes when we came in the condo, in a short time our socks were covered in dirt. It didn't seem that housekeeping had cleaned/mopped the floor before our stay. We found the vacuum and did our best to clean up. The most difficult thing we encountered was the noise from the bedroom and living room air conditioners. It was so loud that we had to turn them off at night. The condo is nice but ready for an update in most rooms.

Everything from the entrance to the open living area, the magic just opened up into a magistic view! Not like the impact of getting hit by a train, but a wave of layered satisfaction.
