Great location and property. The kitchen is well maintained and set up.
The property lacks ac and the back bedroom got very hot. A screen on the entrance or cooling system is suggested. The patio area is nice- unfortunately the furniture has rusted through and was not able to be used. Would stay again if there was ac and the patio was fixed as the location is absolutely wonderful. Overall was great. Was a little disappointed with trying to get replacements for things like laundry detergent, dryer sheets and a few others. Was told the few items in the condo were all that will be provided. Had to get them on my own when they ran out which also left me with a bunch of supplies I had to leave there. Kinda of stinky under the kitchen sink. Lastly I would have the tracks on the screen doors, bifold doors and blinds get some maintenance so they work better.

A great place to stay. A nice two-bedroom condo with views of the ocean. From the balcony you can watch the sunrise, from elsewhere on the property you can watch the sunset. We also saw whales swim by. The area has a lot of things to do. Highly recommended as a place to rent.

The three bedrooms were perfect for four adults (2 couples) and two children. Quiet with beautiful sunsets/sunrises. Walk to Poipu Beach or Shipwreck Beach was little less than a mile - no complaints. For essentials, Koloa was a short drive. Everything worked well. Beach towels were provided. Kids loved the pool. We would stay again.

We have started at the makahuena for 28 years. This was my wife's favorite room, even among the other 5000 (waterfront) building units we've rented. Every night was a masterclass in the beauty of sunsets right feom our lanai. Whales, turtles and dolphins were regular visitors. I dont want to make it sound too amazing, however, because we will be back. Guaranteed.

We wanted a quiet and calm downtime vacation and this property provided that. Abundant towels, bags and beach gear available. Great kitchen and lanai, it's right on a public path so easy access but still has privacy due to a landscape burn. Would stay here again.

We loved Makahuena 1204!! Unit was very clean, well equipped for cooking, stocked with extra towels & linens. The check in process was wonderful and easy. Very simple and easy instructions were provided in ample time. The view from the lanai was absolutely beautiful & just as the listing shows. We loved the location of the property as many shops, restaurants and attractions were within a short drive. We will definitely stay again & recommend this complex/unit to anyone!

Enjoyed our stay while attending a conference at nearby grand Hyatt. Able to walk in 15 minutes to events and to the beach. Condo was clean and air conditioning in bedrooms very nice. Management staff was very responsive.

The overall condo condition was good. The bathrooms and kitchen had been updated and nicely equipped. There was newer furniture throughout. The building itself has issues. Primary bedroom view window has a broken seal causing it to look hazy and did not have a screen. The millwork, doors and floors were tired and mismatched. My biggest issue is the pictures in the listing are not reflective of the current construction taking place on the property before the ocean views….there is no longer green grass but dirt and big machines. There is a construction notice buried deep in the listing that is easy to miss.

Great location with amazing sunrise and sunset ocean views! Sunset is viewable on the lanai, and sunrise is an easy paved walk within the small Makahuena community to the benches. There is also a gate that will take you out to the public walking path to see the lava arch (2 min), walk to Shipwreck beach (15 min) to see the monk seal, and hike the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail, where you will be rewarded with more amazing views of the ocean side cliffs and mountains! Brennecke beach (great for boogie boarding) and Poipu beach (large sea turtles) was also a short drive away. The property was easy to access since it was right off the main entrance and provided plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear, beach towels, and beach toys. The beds were comfortable, and the decor was just right. A/C units are available in each of the bedrooms, but it was noisy for sleeping so we had the fans on at night instead. The main living area was warmer since A/C isn't available throughout the unit, but it was a comfortable temperature with the ceiling fans. The main shared bathroom had an odor; otherwise, no issues with 5 people showering back-to-back after a day at the beach as long as the last person is ok with a cooler shower. Large washer and dryer came in handy with detergent provided. We didn't use the TV (at first glance, it didn't appear straightforward to use) since we were out and about most of the day. It was also a short drive to The Shops at Kukui'ula and Old Koloa Town for food and shopping. Lihue airport is about 30 minutes away, and the Costco near the airport is a great place to pick up Hawaiian snacks (lots of local snack choices like giant furikake shrimp chips that we don't get on the mainland), Hawaiian shirts and sarongs, and sushi (we had a sample of the crunch roll deluxe and decided to grab one). Don't forget to grab your Hawaiian donuts early because the bakeries are near Lihue and are closed SUN / MON. Those that are open run out of malasadas by 8AM!

We are a large family (2 parents, 4 kids aged 7-15 and a MIL), and we had a lovely stay over the halloween week. I was there for a conference at the nearby Grand Hyatt (easy beautiful walk), and the rooms accomodated us wonderfully. Nearby ameneties and shops as needed, and lots of local gems to be found. Easy access to the pool for the kids was great, and a short walk to watch the sunrise in the morning with a coffee in hand was magical. Extremely responsive staff, but the property was well prepared enough that I never needed to see them in person throughout the week. Check in was seamless. If I needed another place to stay in Kauai for a meeting in the future, or just in general, I will definitely keep an eye out for this property.

This property has all the luxuries you'd ever need for a stay on Kauai. The property had magnificent views of the ocean and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We enjoyed morning coffee on the lanai and we loved watching the turtles and dolphins swim by and walks along the beach. It was quiet and very private so we didn't feel like it was noisy or over crowded. We had a fabulous stay and we will definitely return. Thank you so much!

This condo literally sits right on the shore over the rocks. We were able to see the sunrise and sunset from the balcony. Morning coffee and breakfast were spent watching the sea turtles and we were able to see a whale on our last night. The bathrooms appear to newly renovated. The owner communicated well and check in was easy. We did have to call the island contact for one small issue that he immediately responded to and took care of us. We enjoyed our stay.

We have stayed at Makahuena multiple times, first time in this listing. The location within the condo complex is great for small kids. Grassy area to run around, close walk to sunset/sunrise and close proximity to the pool. The management staff was easy to work with and fast at communication. We had a larger party and did not feel cramped within the condo. Makahuena itself is a nice complex to stay in, everyone is always nice and the pool/hot tub are never overcrowded. Plus you have good access to the walking trails, 10 minute walk to the beach or short drive. The only thing we found inconvenient was that there was no place to hang out towels/suits to dry outside. Other than that no complaints, we will be back again!

What a perfect home base for enjoying this magnificent island . We had three couples on this trip , and we had plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is beautiful and extremely well equipped . But you may not want to cook with all the amazing restaurants in nearby Poipu and Lihue . You are a short walk from beautiful Poipu Beach. Great swimming , amazing sunsets , and sea turtles every evening !

We really enjoyed our stay here. Having the bedrooms on separate floors from the living room is a nice feature. The beds were comfortable, and having a half-bath on the main floor was a plus! There are no elevators in this building, and all three bedrooms are upstairs, so be prepared for that. The walking path behind the building offers lovely views. The pool never got too busy, and the hot tub felt great. Everything was clean and well-maintained. We would definitely stay in this property again. We really loved this condo for our recent vacation to Kauai. My husband, our fifteen-year-old daughter, and I were blessed to find this unit after the original one we reserved was under construction. We hit the jackpot because it had all the criteria we were looking for: location, cleanliness, well-stocked, A/C, washer/dryer, pool/hot tub. The bonus was the incredible view--oh, my gosh! The cherry on top was our host, Sophia. We could not have asked for a more responsive, friendly, accommodating host. We will certainly return someday.

As sometimes occurs, we had a couple of issues during our stay. The issues could not have been foreseen, and the property manager handled it perfectly.
We were unable to stay in the condo planned which was fairly upsetting at first. However, the property manager, Michael, responded immediately and was able to have another condo ready for us within 90 mins. We had the choice to take it or not and as fate would have it, this condo was better for our needs than the original one.
We had two other issues which were simply bad luck, but again Michael and his staff were on it immediately. We were able to resolve the issues we had to our complete satisfaction.

Bottom line is we Will be returning to Kauai and when we do, we will chose this property manager. If they'll have us. 😉
Highly recommend any of the beautiful properties managed by this great group of people.

We had a great time in Kauai and the property was very conveniently located and had lots of positives! Couple of minor things that we were able to work through. The entire unit does not have AC but gets a great cross breeze when opening all of the windows. Waking up next to the ocean was AMAZING! And the sunset views on the property were fantastic. Entire property was clean and quiet.

This unit really needs a deep clean. The location is great and close to so many great spots on the island. The pool and hot tub are awesome amenities. You'll notice many units are very well maintained, this one, not so much. The windows need a good wash inside and out, to get rid of the residue that will leave red dust on your clothes and skin and hinder the beautiful view. Two of the windows in the master bedroom are missing screens, making them unusable, unless you don't mind chunks of rotted wood, dust, debris, bugs, etc, on your bedding. The unit definitely needs some love, but the location is great. We would just selected a different unit/owner next time for sure. Also, some partiers, pot smokers, and a bit of a domestic disturbance in the parking lot during the week, but I guess it's Hawaii, and vacation, so that's to be expected. There's no air conditioning, so with the windows open, you hear and smell it all.

This was a great condo with beautiful views. The area is being developed, so it's not clear how long the views will be nice, but the property is great and while a bit aged (older appliances) the beds were comfortable and the shower was very nice. It's not easy to find a reasonably priced property in Poipu, and this property fits the bill!
