Checking in was easy but upon entering the unit, we found that it was dirty. Especially the lanai which had dirty cushions and dirt all over the seating. Even the front door was dirty. We talked to the manager and she understood our concerns and credited back the full value which we appreciated.

We had the most amazing stay at this VRBO!! The place was just as listed !! We loved it ! The people here are responsive and so helpful !! We had a dead battery and they had us up and going in 15 minutes ! Laundry facility was in each building ! The views and the pools ! BUT the beach right out front allowed us a nice leisurely way to dart our mornings ! Sugar Beach is awesome for walking ! Great sunset views and colors !! We will be back to Maui and we will stay here again and again !! The best stay we have had in all our travels — we are hating having to let go of this place this morning as we head home to Alaska ! The Ma'alaea condos are situated right on the beach, the surf no more than 60 feet away! This is really unusual and delightful. They have a pool, that we never used... the Pacific Ocean is literally 60 feet away, although the sandy bottom provides little incentive for fish and other creatures to congregate. For that you have to go elsewhere. The condo is nicely situated in a fairly quiet neighborhood, with a first-class local bakery within walking distance. Restaurants are a bit further away, but that is quite OK. Long walks on the beach can get you to such places, or drive; Kihei is full of good and interesting eating-places, no more than 10 minutes from the Condo.The Condo is in itself, a bit "old Fashioned", although nothing essential was missing; the bed was good, the water hot enough, the TV a tad small, but well insulated both in terms of temperature and noise, and with a view "to die for". It simply does not get any better than that!The one thing we found missing was an opportunity to charge our electric rental car, i.e. "old fashioned". We heard that some other condo complexes do provide 110 V outlets that the charger in the car could have used. Not so at the Ma'alaea resort. An on-site manager actually came out to chastise me that I was attempting to find a "hot" outlet. We had the note displayed, approving our parking privileges, so there was nothing circumspect about what we were doing. No level II charger is needed, but due to the lack of public chargers on Maui, the level I charge could have done all kinds of good.Would I recommend the place to friends and or family? Absolutely, but I would also recommend that they go "old fashioned" and rent an internal combustion car.

H2 is our second beachfront condo stay and you just can’t beat the peace and comfort. We had to cancel our trip last year due to Lahaina fires but returned this year to support Maui’s recovery. It is a beautiful location and lovely comfortable condo. We did have to deal with a leaking toilet but the plumber was able to fix when he made it over to us. It ought to be noted somewhere that there’s no actual oven, just a convection/microwave oven combo. Our chocolate chip cookies weren’t very good. Having a manual there would have been really nice. Also the cooktop is induction which could have used a manual or “cheat sheet” also! A retractable shade screen on the lanai would make the lanai more useable in the hot Hawaiian afternoons.

We really enjoyed our 10 night stay. The views are breathtaking, you hear the waves from your condo. It is a quiet, family unit. We received a half week clean up in our condo and the ladies were amazing. We will definitely book again. There's an local farmers market, abc convenient store and shaved ice with in walking distance.

The vacation was Amazing, the condo was great location. Views of the ocean directly from the balcony. A couple of minutes and your on the beach enjoying walks or playing in the water. My grandkids loved it. The place inside was very clean and has all the amenities you will need.
It is very quiet as well north side of Kihei. A short walk is an ABC store and an awesome shave ice.

This location is perfect, 10 min from airport and just 15 min from Lahina or Wailea. The description of the property was very accurate. They keep the property very clean and their management staff was highly professional. With onsite pickleball, shuffleboard and pool we enjoyed it all. The beach is a perfect spot for lounging or long walks daily. Every restaurant is close. This is our favorite place to go in Maui.

The Maʻalea Surf Resort is the perfect cross between a large resort and a house rental. Being right on the ocean was perfect so that you could experience the Ocean while also having access to the pool and your room. The kids loved being able to play and make friends as all the unit face the pools and other kids could be seen playing. The grounds were immaculate constantly maintained. There is an ABC store with in walking distance, or a short 5 minute drive into Kihei to go to the grocery stores.

This place was absolutely perfect for our family of ten. With 3 condos we had plenty of space and the kitchens / dining rooms were perfect for several family dinners. We played so hard! Between the pool, shuffleboard, boogie boards, rented paddle boards, tennis court and pickleball courts we were well entertained! It was a perfect location. The short walk to the farmer's market, bakery/coffee shop, ABC store, and the best shaved ice ever was a definite plus. Drinking coffee and watching outrigger canoes ever morning was one of my favorite parts of our stay. Thank you Ma'alaea Surf Resort for a magical place to celebrate 50 years of marriage with family!

We have stayed at maalea surf resort a handful of times, each time in a different unit. D-10 is a great unit and the view is definitely the highlight. Having that unobstructed view makes for the perfect morning / evening to just sit and watch the waves. This unit had everything we needed. We found chairs, umbrella, boogie board, day use cooler and ice packs in the freezer. These things are always appreciated, we added some sand toys to the collection for the next family. A few small flaws. The carpets both up stairs and downstairs both had large stains likely due to water? Looked like it could have come in from the main slider downstairs. Also we were informed by a sign to be careful because ants were common. We definitely did have some ant issues in the unit despite being very cautious with food and cleanliness. We saw them most in the bathroom actually. These things did not take away from our love of this place at all however just some notes to make it the perfect unit. We love the location of the unit. We can head to anywhere on the island without spending too long traveling. A fun highlight for us was walking down the beach a short way and getting breakfast at the sugar beach bakery and walking back. There is also shave ice, a fruit stand and a little store.

This is unit is literally 25’ from the ocean. The grounds are golf course quality. The grass is perfect. The view is perfect. The accommodations were perfect. Staff perfect. Well equipped with all cooking utensils. Beds comfortable. Plenty of extra blankets and pillows. Maintained well. Newer renovation on interior. Clean. Close to several grocery stores, post office, restaurants, gas,etc, yet having a remote feel. Best place I’ve ever stayed. I have nothing negative to say.

Loved staying in this unit. Great location and amazing view. Having air conditioning was a huge plus. Also, there was everything you could imagine in the kitchen. It was great to be 15 to 30 minutes from all the tourist areas on the island. Would stay here again.However, the unit needs to have a serious deep clean. I'm allergic to dust and as soon as I stepped through the door I was sneezing. I noticed that the air conditioning vents had not been cleaned in a very long time. There was a thick layer of dust on all the vents including the air filter. I had to climb up and clean them. I hung my clothes in the closet and when I took out one of my dresses the entire bottom of my dress was covered in dust bunnies. Also, the air conditioning unit was very loud, almost like it was about to die. The other issue was the bugs. I know it's Maui and there are bugs, but it was so bad I couldn't eat outside. The property needs to be sprayed more often.Considerations for the Future:It would be nice to have a washer and dryer in the unit. You could easily put one in the "cleaning equipment" closet by the bathroom and put the cleaning equipment in the second closet in the bedroom. Also, the shower faucet will need to be replaced soon.
