We absolutely loved our stay. My son and I were in the water directly behind the unit as much as we could. It was amazing having turtles swim by while we were playing in the water. The unit has beautiful views and is in a great location. We cooked out on the grills and enjoyed the island air. The only drawback on the unit we stayed in was no air conditioning for sleeping, but the weather was nice and it wasn't much of an issue. I noticed some of the other units have AC, so might upgrade to one of those next time. Loved staying there and already longing to go back.

The management is superb! I stayed on the bottom floor which makes it some much nicer to just walk out the slider to the ocean feet away. I have been all over the island and done all the activity, staying here makes it nice to stay at home for the day, you have it all right there, snorkeling with turtles, you can take your paddle board out, sunsets are stunning.

Great Location ! Ocean about 15 yards away. Enjoyed the 3 bedroom ocean front rental. Close to coffee shops, cafes and walking distance to the food trucks. The turtles pass through the water in front of our condo and see them clearly from the lanai, snorkeled with the turtles in front of our condo. Apartment is a little dated but very comfortable. Manager Tammy and Debbie were responsive to our needs and allowed us a little later checkout at 12:30 pm.
I feel it offers great value to a family like us with 6 adults

We were so looking forward to this stay, especially after an 8 hour flight delay, but we arrived late at night to roaches in the kitchen. They ranged from large, to small, to tiny baby ones. We instantly knew there was a roach problem. I sent a video to the owner and didn’t receive a response until the next day after I re-initiated a conversation. Her first response was- “you can’t get a refund for bugs, it’s in the rental agreement”. I took her word and felt defeated that we’d have to risk bringing roaches home. She did offer to bring pest control in, which they said they did, but that didn’t make it better, they also offered another unit, but that one also had roaches. After pest control we continued seeing roaches on the counters, black splash, coming out from under the oven. It was disgusting and we chose not to really cook there and avoided the kitchen as much as we could. Mind you we did have Littles so there were times we washed everything with hot water and soap to use what we needed. It was an extreme dent to our trip. I wish I advocated more and fought for a refund and honestly just left after the first night because we weren’t comfortable. Coming home from our trip, we left all our baggage wrapped in bags and ended up washing all our clothes at a laundromat to prevent any roaches coming into our house. I wish they took necessary steps to fumigate the building before allowing guests to stay. We saved up for this vacay 5 years and find it unfair to host families.

We loved our stay at this apartment complex and enjoyed very much our unit. Good size for a family of 4 if you want to prioritize ocean view over 2 bedrooms at this price level.
The building was well maintained and the unit had a very thoughtful and warm Hawaiian decor. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and spices and it was very easy to cook there. The balcony faced the ocean and the pictures are real, you are practically in the water with an amazing view of the Molokai island. We saw turtles basically everyday when we stayed in the month of June. The only part I did not like was to stay only 4 nights there! We can’t wait to get back. Enjoy this paradise responsibly!

We had a total of 5 families of different sizes and age ranges vacationing together. We rented two units in this same building and it was the perfect spot for us! There was plenty of space inside the units to accommodate everyone. Plenty of seating inside and outside and you just can’t beat the views and how close the beach is. I also loved the neighborhood feel of this location versus being in a more resort-like setting. We had all of the same accommodations with a much more private feel.

The condo is beautiful, maybe better than it looks in the photos. It has a great view. The AC works well and was needed as it was pretty warm when we visited Maui. The beach right outside doesn’t have enough sand to sit on as the water comes right up to a sea wall, but that’s fine because there are lounge chairs right on the property by the beach access. The beach is safe for swimming, has decent snorkeling, and a lot of turtles. I’d stay again if I returned to Maui.

Family of 5 adults - just the right size for us and can’t get a better view of the ocean. You can walk outside and go down a few steps and be in the ocean if you would like. Only downfall of the condo is that there is no room in twin bed room to put your luggage and things. A/C was hard to figure out how to work but we finally got it going as well. We would stay again when going to Maui

There were some pesky termites, but only showed up once or twice during our stay. Super soft towels and clean house made the welcome to the island very warm. This was our second stay in 106 they have done a great job updating with AC and a few other things we noticed during this stay! Everyone around is nice and helpful. If you stay in 106 and have young kids just know one of the tenants next door if your at the pool you might see him looking at you with binoculars as a dad yes we had words ! He explained that he is losing his eye sight and locals come around and sneak in the pool not a good excuse but like I said we had words and I explained to him to be in my shoes with two young girls and some old guy staring at them with binoculars!! Other than that a few other tents are supper overly nice and need to understand that if someone says they don’t want to blow the shells at sunset to leave it and move on, for the married couple you don’t own the property so stop acting like you make the rules for everyone I observed him yell at a young kid for skateboarding was the kid being annoying nope is their signs posted Nope then after he was done yelling at the kid he told the kid he is an owner that may be true for 1 unit but that’s all and still don’t yell a people kids observe and locate a parent ! And talk to them. The groundskeeper was the nicest always working. This is a perfect place to relax and soak it all in.

The checking in process went smoothly. We arrived to Hawaiian music and an amazing view of the ocean from this ground level unit. We immediately felt relaxation.
The location makes you feel like you are out of the hustle and bustle of the city, but also have access to grocery stores and food not too far away. Just down the street, we enjoyed Papa O'Hana's Cinnamon Rolls (get in line early!) and Dole Pineapple Whip at a local Mediterranean restaurant. There is also a large food truck park set up for local feast and fun. With that said, we enjoyed many a meals in and used the gas grills to grill steak at "home" and enjoyed eating dinner in the cool of the evening.
The condominium units are mixed use between short term rentals to seasonal owners. This was a plus as we felt welcomed by the "locals" and they taught us customs like the conch shell sunset ceremony. We felt like we belonged there, hence "home away from home." In fact, we ended up adding 2 more days to our stay because we just weren't ready to go home!
Matt contacted us a couple days in to check to see how we were doing. They were easy to get a hold of if needed. He was very accommodating and kind.
Activities we enjoyed were the Road to Hana and Volcanic National Park (both about an hour drive to the start of the drives, we just planned for an all day event), to swimming in the ocean in front of the unit at low tide, even swimming with the sea turtles.
A must stay! We are hoping to go back again soon!

Location and view are 10/10! Numerous turtles along the rocks by the sitting area made dreams come true for family members to see them in the wild. Condo was overdue for pest control, roaches in the kitchen were abundant. Property manager was very responsive and offered another unit but we chose to stay and use raid, didn't see anymore. Toilet broke, was addressed first thing next day. Appreciate the immediate responsiveness. It was hard to keep the 2 guest rooms cool, master was easy to cool. Appreciated the nice beach towels readily available. Overall, we loved the view and accommodation of Property manager, unit is over due for some TLC. Even in current condition it's still a nice unit I would recommend but understand it's not a shiny new modern condo.

Overall, the location and condo worked perfectly for our family of five (all adults). Check-in was easy, plenty of parking, quiet area, rooms and bathrooms were clean, bbq grill was easy to use, checkout was easy and the condo was right off the beach.
This rental is in a great location which isn’t too far from a grocery store, gas station and other restaurants.
We would definitely book this same condo in the future.

My partner and I visited for 10 days mid/late April 2024 and had a great time. The location is perfect and within walking distance from many amenities. Overall great experience with our stay. Condo was clean, organized, with all your basic needs. Balcony overlooks the water and there is a patio area down below to lounge. The only real caveat was that the washer and dryer are very old and had a bit of a musty smell to them, only relevant if you plan to wash clothes on vacation. Otherwise a very nice place to stay.

Very little beach and ocean can be a little rough at times. Great snorkeling when its calm. Pool onsite is heated and well maintained. Office staff are very friendly. Not too many restaurants within walking distance,although the local food trucks do good food. Better restaurants in kaanapali,but expensive. I would recommend this resort. Condo prices are very reasonable. Easy drive from the airport.

Location is great. This unit needs some love and upgrades. The main curtains were terrible. The bed linen was not clean. The patio doors are really difficult to open. A fan in the bathroom. The dishwasher would come on a few times a day on its own!

We enjoyed visiting with those that live in the complex and those also enjoying their vacation. The evening blowing of the Chonch was an experience we enjoyed. We are a family of six and this Makani Sands location was perfect for our trip to Maui. The views from both balconies were amazing. We loved the beach / sitting area. We were very close to other beaches and restaurants, but we also did a lot of cooking and used the grills one night. The place has everything we needed. Our kids loved the heated pool and spent hours in it. The snorkeling right off the property was quite good. And the other residents are really nice. My step son saw one of them fishing one night, chatted with him, and then was told he could use the fishing pole any time! Someone else gave him some bait. He was in heaven. Great place to stay. Highly recommend it!

We go to Maui annually, and we stay in this unit. Pretty much plan our vacation around its availability. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you would need, including a cupcake pan (which I've never used). New furniture in the living room and it's so comfortable, as is the king size bed. But my favorite thing about the unit is the "high" chairs on the lanai. I'm short and these chairs elevate me so that I do not have the blue bar directly in my line of sight.

I left a longer review on the property manager site, so I'll leave a shorter one here. This place is alllll about the views. It was incredible to watch whales and sea turtles right from the Lanai and listen to the waves as we fell asleep. My only wish is that there were more space to store our luggage and supplies. We loved the art, the location, the overall vibes and would definitely stay here again!
