First of all, the property was wonderful with a great location! Phenomenal ocean view and right above the pool which was great for my kids. The property manager was very easy to communicate with and extremely helpful. The condo was a good size with plenty of space. Very clean and great water pressure in showers. Walkout to the ocean and just down the road from several beaches, restaurants and stores. Overall very pleased!

Papakea is an amazing property, is our third time staying there and have never left disappointed. Our washing machine did not work in our unit and repair men couldn’t get to it while we were there, but a little hand washing and it didn’t really affect anything. The unit was great, the amenities were on point. We absolutely love Papakea and will definitely return again.

Great location- beautiful property/ unit could use some updating and it definitely needed some cleaning. The timer on the air conditioner was quite annoying…we would wake up in the middle of the night hot and would have to reset it. The property manager contacted us out of the blue and asked about the sc because the previous renter complained about it not working. He suggested tricks to us to make it work if it stopped and said it wasn’t repaired because it’s very costly. I thought that was odd! The location and size of unit were great! I think the cleaning crew is very careless because the owners closet was left unlocked with the key in the door! We would never mess with someone’s belongings but that should have been locked for the owners saje

This property worked well for us as a family of 5 with three teens. It is our first time staying here as we have stayed at other close properties in Honokwai in the past. Enjoyed the stay here as it was a quiet and relaxing location. You can still go and eat and find amenities at the hotel next door. The pool was great and our ocean view was lovely.

We had an amazing stay at this condo. Brian was very easy to work with during the entire process, and provided clear and thorough information regarding everything we needed to know as we prepared for our trip. The condo is in a beautifully maintained resort with friendly staff, great activities and an amazing location. The beach is a very short walk, as are several restaurants and a grocery store. The condo itself was perfect for our large group ... plenty of space and well stocked with beach/pool towels, chairs, boogie boards, etc. We absolutely loved it.

Spent a month here so this was an in-depth experience. The unit is very well stocked, furnished and equipped. Much better than the usual. Owner is super responsive and nice. Best ocean view we've ever had and we've seen a lot. Not too high or low and very close to water. Visited many communities in west Maui and none better than Papakea even for much more money. It's got a relaxed, low key family vibe we didn't see anywhere else. Hope to return soon.

We loved the resort and the location. The grounds and pool areas were very well maintained . We have stayed over in Kehei area previously and decide to try this area. The condo was a one bedroom with king bed. The mattress was a bit lumpy but otherwise ok.The kitchen was well equipped. The ice machine on the fridge didn’t produce ice so we had to buy ice. The air conditioner didn’t seem to keep the condo very cool. The unit is on the end by the stairwell which can be noisy at night. We did have issues with the wash machine and contacted the owner who was pleasant to deal with and was attending to the problem promptly, however it had not been fixed by the time we left.
I would rate this condo 3.75/5.

We are a family of 6 (with four boys ages 10 to 16) and we absolutely loved this place. It was perfect for our first trip to Maui. The view from the lanai, the kitchen, the sleeping arrangements, the location...everything was just what we needed. Having all the equipment (snorkel, golf, boogie boards, umbrellas) was incredibly helpful as well. The boys spent so much time playing mini golf and swimming. And the beach was a 2 min walk.

We loved our stay here! It was the perfect amount of space for 4 of us, including 2 teenagers. The kitchen was fully stocked as well as having beach chairs, cooler, towels and sand toys for those with kids. We went as a family and had a wonderful stay. The condo is very well equipped. The beds were great. They had a few beach toys to play with. It was very helpful having a washer and dryer in the unit.
The people who work the desk at the resort were so kind and helpful. On our way there our luggage did not arrive in Hawaii with us. The airline dropped it off at a different resort (I had air tags in the luggage and could see where it was) The resort staff drove me around until someone "found" our luggage at the other resort.
The Ocean view was spectacular. Sunsets were phenomenal. We loved being able to listen to the ocean waves at night. We lost power one night so it was really dark and the sounds of the waves were so relaxing.
They are located across the street from a little grocery store and just down the road from some great food trucks. I just wished someone would have told us about the cinnamon roll store in front of the resort sooner. (Be there early)
My two complaints is are silly ones. I just wished it had something to wipe the floors down with besides a broom. The other one is I wish the cleaning people would check the sink traps. They were full of hair and the sinks would not drain.
Overall this trip and condo was amazing and we would return there in a heart beat.

The property manager did not know we were coming, the property owners had charged my credit card but failed to inform the property managers, it took almost two hours to get this sorted out!, unacceptable! Furthermore, the condo only has a small split unit AC, to small to cool the condo, but the owner has stated in the condo book how to help cooling the condo with fans. It is 2024, high priced three weeks stay, every day in the high 80ties or 90ties and we had to endure a hot condo environment with several power failures. On arrival, the bathroom sink was totally plugged and not usable, the toilet was partially plugge but owner had provided a plunger for toilet and sink. I contacte the owner with theses issues and he recommended using the plungers!!
We have been to the Hawaiian islands ten times now over the years, staying in hotels, for longer stays in condos and never experienced anything like this before.
My recommendation to VRBO is to remove this owner from the condo listings.
I will continue to use VRBO since the real issue here is the condo owner.

The location is kind of far from Kihei and the major western shore beaches, but there are some good beaches not too far up north.

We loved our stay in H304, perfect for a family of 5. Tons of pool and beach items in the condo, TVs and AC in all the bedrooms, and the calmness of the 2 pools was wonderful.
Greg and Julie were extremely responsive hosts in the lead up to our reservation and if we had questions during.
Kitchen was pretty well stocked and it was nice to have conveniences like foil and plastic wrap for when we grilled by the pool already on hand. Personally I’d love to have an Air Fryer added for our next visit to quickly make kid lunches to take back to the pool.

Our recent stay at Papakea Resort was overall pleasant, with some room for improvement.
Positive Aspects:
Beautiful Property: The resort grounds were beautiful and well-maintained.
Dated Furniture and Space: While the furniture and space were a bit dated, they were sufficient for our needs.
Attentive Property Owner: The property owner ensured that all amenities within the space were available for us throughout our stay, which was a nice touch.
Areas for Improvement:
Air Conditioning Notification: We were not informed until two weeks before our arrival that the space did not have air conditioning. This was an oversight on my part as I assumed it was a standard amenity, but clearer upfront communication in the listing would have been appreciated. Rebooking a new location with air conditioning on such short notice would have been challenging. It was difficult for us to sleep at night.
Despite this, we enjoyed our time at the resort and can understand why people return.

The condo was exactly as described. Spectacular view of the ocean and very clean and spacious for the four of us. We would wake up every morning to enjoy our coffee on the patio overlooking the ocean. Decent quality sand chairs and a cooler were provided along with snorkel gear. We love the Papakea and this location was fantastic. We were able to leave the Lanai door open most of the time and take advantage of the trade-winds. This was perfect for our family and we really enjoyed our stay. If you are a coffee fan make sure to take the short walk to Bad Ass Coffee just down the street.

This was our family’s first time in Maui, but it definitely won’t be our last. This location was perfect for us. Lots of fun, water sports, golf, and fine dining all close by. Kanapali beach close by had lots of great activities for the family, including some cliff diving for my more adventurous kid. The views from the deck of this condo are like a postcard, especially at sunset. With a view of the pool, we were also able to watch the kids swim and play shuffleboard. We also played pickleball ball and cornhole all on site. I can’t say enough good things about our time a Papakea. Thanks Carol.

Lisa's property at Papakea Resort was absolutely perfect for our stay. Lisa was very communicative throughout the booking process and our vacation. The unit is well kept and clean and the property is absolutely beautiful! We could not get over the view off the patio and we made so much use of the pool & beach! There are a lot of good restaurants nearby and the proximity to the grocery & ABC store made it easy to get all of our necessities.
My husband & I worked remotely from the condo and the wifi and service was reliable and there was plenty of working space between the dining table and the patio.
We are hoping to return again as we already miss it!

Our stay was wonderful! And the property was perfect! Our family of four, with two teenage daughters, traveled in early July to celebrate our oldest graduating high school. Each of our daughters brought a friend. All of us enjoyed ourselves! The property had private spaces for each pair and fit the six of us just fine. Not only was the resort beautiful, it had so much to do! From swimming, tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, corn hole, and plenty of grass areas for walking, to a convenience store immediately off grounds, you’re sure to find something to do! The property owner was not only communicative, but very accommodating! The unit’s a/c worked nicely, offered multiple smart TVs for watching shows late at night, & wifi to stay connected as needed. A wide variety of Food trucks are also just off the grounds which was super convenient! There were plenty of towels in the unit, chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and a washer/dryer as well. View from balcony facing the swimming pool & ocean! Perfect for sipping your morning coffee or evening drink! We really had zero complaints! We would definitely book again! Papakea was lovely & K404 won’t disappoint!

The condo is good. The complex is really nice and right on the water. The host was responsive. There are a few issues that should be resolved for the next guest - main fan in living room doesn’t go above low which makes it difficult to cool the place down. The washer was finicky and wouldn’t work consistently. Otherwise it was well stocked, pretty clean, and we enjoyed our stay.
